QuantumRealm (meow • pawtrack) 07:02, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Speedy deletion nomination of Superior Union Station
[edit]Hello Znns,
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Hatchens, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Superior Union Station, for deletion, because there's already a page about that topic at Superior station (Wisconsin). Please don't be discouraged; we appreciate your effort in creating new articles. To avoid this in the future, consider using the search function to find pages that already cover what you want to write about.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.
For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Hatchens}}
. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

Ontonagon station moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Ontonagon station, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. New railroad station articles
[edit]Hi Znns. Thanks for the recent addition of numerous old Amtrak stations. I just wanted to drop a note regarding some things that can be improved for future articles. It may be worthwhile to spend more time on a particular article, rather than writing stub articles with minimal references. The first thing I would suggest is taking advantage of the Draft: namespace. This allows for some basics of the article to be written, while further research is done.
The other primary thing I wanted to mention is that further sourcing should be added to these new stations. If you can't find sufficient secondary sources, it may not be a desirable candidate for an article to be created. For example, on Emporia station, you wrote "The depot was demolished after a severe fire in 1999.", but there is no reference after. The TrainWeb reference does say that these was a fire, but this is not a good reliable source, and is more of an external link. A better source would be like this magazine article found via Google that I will add to the article. And also important – when you do add a reference, please format it using a template such as Cite news or Cite web.
Another MOS tip is that every named train, such as the Super Chief should be italicized in text.
I'm not too active on here anymore, but feel free to drop a message on my talk or reply if you have any questions. —GFOLEY FOUR!— 22:26, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- One other tip that's worth mentioning, once an article is written, it's helpful to add links on other pages so more people will see it. One common spot is the article for whatever city it's in. Often times there's a mention of the station and a link can be added, such as what I did here. —GFOLEY FOUR!— 01:49, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Baudette Depot
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Baudette Depot requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://npgallery.nps.gov/NRHP/GetAsset/NRHP/05000809_text. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Fram (talk) 07:50, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- Znns, Fram, I've declined the speedy nomination here, and sent this to WP:CP instead. I think – but am far from sure – that the copyright status of these forms hinges on whether or not the compiler of the report was government employee at the time, making the report as part of that employment; if I'm right, we can't include that content unless we can show that Tschofen was so employed. In any case, Znns, attribution is required whenever you incorporate PD content in a Wikipedia article, without exception. Could there be other pages where you have done the same thing? If so, would you kindly list them here? Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:24, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification Justlettersandnumbers, I don't believe there are other pages. This one just got away from me, sorry for the trouble. Znns (talk) 16:45, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Copypaste of Green Bay and Western Railroad Depot to Whitehall station (Wisconsin)
[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Green Bay and Western Railroad Depot a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Whitehall station (Wisconsin). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:41, 29 December 2022 (UTC)DeKalb Public Transit moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, DeKalb Public Transit, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 12:14, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

Public transit access in infoboxes for Milwaukee-related articles
[edit]I appreciate the mass addition of the public transit access field to infoboxes for Milwaukee-related articles. Do you have any thoughts on whether specific bus routes should be added to the infoboxes too? I think it would be a good idea, but I'm curious if there's a specific reason for not adding them, such as the fact that which routes serve which areas could change at any time. Thanks! ^^ huntertur (talk) 19:03, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah, it would be a nice addition, but since they can easily change, I thought it might be better to just leave them out, and for some buildings, it would be hard to decide which routes to include. For instance if there is a bus route 1 block away, and another 4 blocks away, where would the line be drawn on what distance "serves" the building, and if we only include the closer one, that might leave the impression that that is the only route one could take to the building. So yeah, if someone would like to add specific routes I think that would be great, but I don't think I'll add specific routes. Znns (talk) 19:14, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
Sorry but these transit fields you are adding are not helpful. The transit field in infoboxes was meant for cases where there is a rapid transit (subway/rail) station close by, so that it can give the reader a sense of location, and give them a link they can click on to get some more context about the area around the subject. An infobox field that essentially just says "the local bus system has a stop in the vicinity of the subject" is vacuous information, and wastes valuable above-the-fold space. Even giving the specific bus routes wouldn't serve the purpose, because bus routes are fluid and not known by many readers. Wikipedia is not a travel guide, so info that only has the purpose of telling people how to get there is off topic. Toohool (talk) 04:27, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
- Transit is trivial and should not be added to an infobox, per H:IB. Transit info is added to the "infrastructure" section of the article, per WP:USCITIES. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:30, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info, should all transportation related things in the infoboxes be removed then? I was only adding it since I saw a lot of articles also contain interstates in the infobox. Best Znns (talk) 21:48, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- Before making changes to the infobox of hundreds of articles, it's always prudent to inquire first about whether the mass addition would be an improvement. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:56, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- I've only worked on some Iowa articles, but could you answer my question of what should be included transportation wise please? Thanks! Znns (talk) 21:58, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- Look at a few hundred city articles, and look for what typically gets included in infoboxes, particularly for one-horse towns. Also, once you start adding stuff to the "blank_name" parameter, then you really need to be sure it's necessary. I hope this helps. You can always post a message to one of the boards, like Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline. --Magnolia677 (talk) 23:08, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
