DYK for Abel Gonzales
On 30 May 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Abel Gonzales, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Abel Gonzales invented both Fried Coke and deep-fried butter? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Abel Gonzales. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Thanks
Just wanted to thank you for the revert on my talk page. That editor has become annoying. And I do appreciate your input. On another issue, I notice you use WP:HUGGLE. I use WP:STIKI. Have you tried Stiki? Are there any advantages/disadvantages to one or the other? Onel5969 (talk) 19:28, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
- No problem, might be worth taking to ANI if they continue. I've tried Stiki briefly, but I like Huggle much more. Stiki seems to be quite focused on light weight vandalism removal, while Huggle is a giant semi auto tool box of everything you need. It has faster diff viewing, the easier ability to monitor the contributions of a user, easier template usage and reporting, easy RPP and CSD nominations, quick flagging edits as suspicious or good, and more. The best feature of stiki is the central server that ensures no-one is looking at the same diff at the same time, but I find the extra features of Huggle make up for that. This is just my personal opinion, but I'd recommend giving Huggle a try. Winner 42 Talk to me! 19:43, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks - I think I will try it next week. Take care. Onel5969 (talk) 19:49, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

I edited that page BECAUSE it wasn't neutral in the first place!
To suggest that "Many believe the 969 Movement has been responsible for inciting violence against Muslims in Burma." is "neutral" is absurd - especially considering the only "violence" Buddhists "incited" was in an effort to fight back against their aggressors! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.179.49.78 (talk) 03:22, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, ethnically motivated rioting is clearly retaliatory and justified, but seriously Wikipedia is not a place to advocate your point of view on a subject if you think that the article is not neutral provide reliable sources showing the bias of the statements in the article and discuss it on the talk page. Need Help with Knowing What Requires Inline Citations
Hi Winner 42,
Thanks for taking the time to review my page.
My rejection says the article still does not meet the minimum standard for Inline Citations. Can you confirm that I must provide more evidence, in the form of citations? Also, I'm struggling with what content requires a citation. For example, do I need a citation that provides proof that the subject of my article was born, or where and when he was born? His career history at each radio station?
For the section about his interviews, I have provided citations with links to the actual interviews for some. Must there be links to all his interviews? Is this type of proof appropriate, or in some way inadequate? Should I remove those names that do not link to an interview?
This is a bit daunting being my first article.
Thanks Again,

About the Mad Mad Mad Monsters article
The reason I removed reference to Embassy Pictures (as well as StudioCanal) was because Mad Mad Mad Monsters was a made for TV movie, not a theatrical feature film, and while StudioCanal owns the rights to Mad Monster Party?, they do not own the rights to Mad Mad Mad Monsters, which is owned by DreamWorks Animation/DreamWorks Classics. 24.180.56.157 (talk) 00:15, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

- @Airplane Maniac: Feel free to take a break and eat your share of that internet cake ! Vandal fighting is all about having the right tools and having experience. When you are a little bit more experienced you can get WP:ROLLBACK which doesn't seem like much at first but is actually a really powerful tool on Wikipedia. It allows you to undo a whole series of vandal edits very quickly in a single click. It also let's you use tools like WP:HUGGLE which is my preferred vandalism fighting tool. If you need any sort of advice, feel free to ask me, that's what I'm here for! Also, I'm liking the new signature!Winner 42 Talk to me! 00:59, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

Huggle request
I have been trying to figure out how to go over my drafts to check for copyright violations. The Huggle tool looks promising but requires more time on the site and lots more edits to access. Would you mind helping on my project by running the tool on the article in my sandbox and tell me how bad it is? Thanks for your help in advance... User:CaptJayRuffins/sandbox CaptJayRuffins (talk) 13:15, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- I think you are slightly mistaken, Huggle doesn't have the capacity to check for copyright violations. However Earwig's Copyvio Detector does. Your draft is returning 91.9% confidence of a copyright violation [6] which is considered too high in most cases and indicates that you are either copying or very closely paraphrasing the content from i-women.org. Ideally you will want you score around 30% or at least below 50%, but what really matters is that you aren't violating their copyright by copy and pasting text or closely paraphrasing. Another suggestion just looking at your draft, I would suggest narrowing your scope. For example do you want to talk about the Pyrrhan Society, Women in Firefighting, or the United Women Firefighters Association. Each of these topics could be its own article so I would recommend splitting up the article you have now into separate drafts for each topic as well as removing the copyright violations. Hope this helps, if you have any more questions feel free to ask. Winner 42 Talk to me! 13:43, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

- @Pt.dkpant: I am glad you have good intentions. Though adding that sentence in bold to the top of the article isn't the best way to communicate the information on the subject. It would be greatly preferred if you could add that information later in the article dealing with why the practice is the way it is while remembering to cite reliable sources explaining those view points (See WP:CITING and Help:Referencing for beginners). Wikipedia could use your help as you appear to be knowledgeable on astrology and Wikipedia's coverage of that area is sub-par. Hpollack
Hi Winner 42,
Can you help me? I'm really confused. I appreciate you keeping my new page within the Wikipedia guidelines but I'm not actually sure what I did wrong or how to fix it. I need to create a page for my company but I have never editing or create a Wikipedia article before. I am not trying to use Wikipedia to advertise or anything, I just want people looking for information about us to have accurate details and be able to find what they came for. I didn't want to overhaul the Harris Interactive page because that was a company and it did exist. However, since The Harris Poll was bought by Nielsen, it is now its own entity. It has its own website and functions independently. I have been trying to read all the articles about how to properly create a Wikipedia page but I am confused and under a possibly impossible deadline. Where should I go from here? I appreciate any guidance you can give me or if you are not the right person to ask can you point me towards someone else I could contact? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hpollack (talk • contribs) 14:34, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- I understand and appreciate that you are trying to be helpful. I was just confused about what you were trying to do. I thought you were just creating a duplicate of Harris Interactive, but it appears the poll is notable enough on its on to warrant its own separate article. I wasn't aware of the acquisition or the history around it, thank you for your explanation. I have moved the article back to where it was before, feel free to continue working on it. I recommend WP:Your first article which is a great guide for new comers creating their first article. You said you are creating it for your company so I've put the standard COI guideline notice on your user talk page (basically it just says that you have to say you have a COI on your user page). Winner 42 Talk to me! 14:53, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- I appreciate you letting me know about COI. I believe I have updated my user profile to include a fair declaration of my potential bias but please let me know if there is more (or less) I should disclose. I am now taking the interactive tutorial about Wikipedia and then will reference the page you send me about "your first article" as I work on the new page. I will also do my best to clarify the difference between Harris Interactive and The Harris Poll in both articles so that no users are confused by why two pages exist. Can I just ask, you said you moved the page back to where it was before but when I search "The Harris Poll" in wikipedia I can't find the page. I can finish doing edits on the user page that you moved it to, but then can you tell me how to make it public again once I finish? Thanks so much for you help!! Hpollack (talk) 15:14, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oops I messed up the move, it is somewhat fixed now. Thanks for complying with the COI rules, you should be good to go. I see you also found the Wikipedia adventure, that is a great way to learn about Wikipedia. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! Winner 42 Talk to me! 15:56, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

I've discovered a rather brilliant new tuning someone else came up with on the guitar and I want to add it to different tuning systems for the guitar community. It can be referenced and fall under these topics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_fifths_tuning and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_tunings
The reference I found and use for this new guitar tuning is found on the inventors website at: http://senchant.com/mirror-tuning/
Please help me add this as I believe this to be very beneficial but also very inventive for the guitar community out there. With this new tuning system, it gives guitarists, like me, an extended 3 (from 2) octave range and it is constructed from basic guitar shapes, only reversed. This means it is readily adapted into any proficient guitarists vocabulary. I was blown away how easily I picked it up and know this is truly an amazing discovery.

Lake Junaluska (merger with Waynesville)
Not sure why you feel compelled to put back false and misleading information in the "Today" section (Merger with Waynesville) concerning possible annexation. Are you familiar with this subject? Are you putting content back in simply because it has a cited reference (a weekly newspaper)? Inaccuracies aside, why is this sort of content even on a Wikipedia page? First, the survey that was conducted was an attempted census (100% sampling) and was sent to the 811 property owners. Approximately 60% responded, of those 65% favored annexation. So, only about 39% of the property owners actually responded favorably to annexation. No inferences on public opinion can be made since those who responded were not selected through a random or purposive process. For all we know, all those who didn't respond could be against annexation. Second, mention of financial troubles is not supported "Today" by the most recent public reports by the executive director and pubic works director. According to the executive director, in 2014 the conference center operated in a positive financial situation for the third year in a row. The Terrace Hotel occupancy was up by 65% for autumn. It was a banner year for charitable giving with an increase of donors. The Assembly Public Works kicked off their capital improvement program, and ended the year with carry-forward balance in the water and sewer fund. So, please stop posting the references to biased newspaper articles that do not accurately reflect the situation. While probably not your intent, they appear as yet another attempt to influence public opinion (bandwagon effect) towards pro-annexation (the people of Lake Junaluska have been inundated with incorrect, incomplete, and misleading information supporting annexation). You edited my question about Jade helm 15
My question was simple: "Why did Jade Helm 15 start a month and a half sooner than announced?"
This is a very constructive question, as it needs to be answered. Why did Jade Helm begin so early and to further ask why so many more previously non-involved states have jumped on board?
If you refuse to help us find answers to these questions, then you are just censoring attempts at finding out a truth. And this is, by definition, collusion. And illegal in the United States. You should think about these things when you censor us. -_- — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.99.118.6 (talk) 01:10, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi Winner 42,
The reason behind deleting the section was because it should be for the living former members of Congress from the State of Oregon, but the section was devoted to the State of Oklahoma. I am currently editing the page now to fix this. Sorry for not giving you a reason in the first place.

Unsourced Information
There was unsourced information in the article about David Abbot. Wikipedia's verifiability guidelines require all information to be citable to sources. When information is unsourced, and it is doubtful any sources are available for the information, it can be boldly removed. Any unsourced material may be removed, and in biographies of living persons unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material must be removed immediately. Original research refers to material that is not attributable to a reliable, published source. This includes unpublished facts, arguments, ideas, statements, and neologisms; and any unpublished analysis or synthesis of published material that appears to advance a position. Material added to articles must be directly and explicitly supported by the cited sources. Note the difference between unsourced material and original research: Unsourced material is material not yet attributed to a reliable source. It is unattributed but may be attributable. Original research is material that cannot be attributed to a reliable source. It is unattributable. The only way to demonstrate that material is not original research is to cite reliable sources that provide information directly related to the topic of the article, and to adhere to what those sources say. See: Wikipedia:Attribution, Wikipedia:No originial research, Wikipedia:Verifiability, and Wikipedia:Content removal.
- Material does not require direct attribution in the lead if it is present in the article per WP:MOSLEAD. Please stop your mass removals of content. Winner 42 Talk to me! 22:34, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Heyo Winner 42! I saw that your nomination passed the review. While you have done some good work, I believe the article still requires some work before it can be of GA quality. The review was very short and never got into the details. After a quick look I can see few issues which should not at all be present in a GA. Considering the importance of the subject, I wanted to start the GA reassessment page. I hope you won't mind. Thanks, — Yash! (Y) 09:40, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Yash!: @Jaguar: I can't say that I agree that the article doesn't meet GA standards, but you are welcome to open a GAR if you feel differently. Pinging the reviewer to get their thoughts. Winner 42 Talk to me! 17:19, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
- In general, I see few MoS issues, improper references formatting and some prose problems. While the article doesn't necessarily fail in any particular criteria due to any major problem, the little issues, in my view, prevents it from being considered as a good one. I can either formally start the assessment page or simply let you know in brief about the issues that I see here. Whichever you are comfortable with. — Yash! (Y) 18:26, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Yash!: You don't need my approval to go ahead and improve the article, I don't own it, WP:SOFIXIT. Additionally, if it passes the GA requirements, then it is a good article, you might want to read Wikipedia:What the Good article criteria are not. Winner 42 Talk to me! 18:59, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
- I agree, the article met the GA criteria which is why I passed it. I tend to focus more on prose issues than technical ones, but rest assured I did check check through the references and all of the dead/broken formatted ones were dealt with. By all means, you can send it to GAR but I was happy at the time of the review. There were no aspects of it that did not meet the criteria, so if there are any MoS issues then I'm sure they can be dealt with? JAGUAR 19:30, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Today's articles for improvement weekly vote
- Hello Winner 42:
- This week's voting for TAFI's upcoming weekly collaborations has begun at Week 28 of 2015. Thanks for participating!
Bots
You are receiving this message because a technical change may affect a bot, gadget, or user script you have been using. The breaking change involves API calls. This change has been planned for two years. The WMF will start making this change on 30 June 2015. A partial list of affected bots can be seen here: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2015-June/081931.html This includes all bots that are using pywikibot compat. Some of these bots have already been fixed. However, if you write user scripts or operate a bot that uses the API, then you should check your code, to make sure that it will not break.
What, exactly, is breaking? The "default continuation mode" for action=query requests to api.php will be changing to be easier for new coders to use correctly. To find out whether your script or bot may be affected, then search the source code (including any frameworks or libraries) for the string "query-continue". If that is not present, then the script or bot is not affected. In a few cases, the code will be present but not used. In that case, the script or bot will continue working.
This change will be part of 1.26wmf12. It will be deployed to test wikis (including mediawiki.org) on 30 June, to non-Wikipedias (such as Wiktionary) on 1 July, and to all Wikipedias on 2 July 2015.
If your bot or script is receiving the warning about this upcoming change (as seen at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages ), it's time to fix your code!
- The simple solution is to simply include the "rawcontinue" parameter with your request to continue receiving the raw continuation data (example <https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages&rawcontinue=1>). No other code changes should be necessary.
- Or you could update your code to use the simplified continuation documented at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Query#Continuing_queries (example <https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages&continue=>), which is much easier for clients to implement correctly.
Either of the above solutions may be tested immediately, you'll know it works because you stop seeing the warning.
Do you need help with your own bot or script? Ask questions in e-mail on the mediawiki-api or wikitech-l mailing lists. Volunteers at m:Tech or w:en:WP:Village pump (technical) or w:en:Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard may also be able to help you.
Are you using someone else's gadgets or user scripts? Most scripts are not affected. To find out if a script you use needs to be updated, then post a note at the discussion page for the gadget or the talk page of the user who originally made the script. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 19:04, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
WikiProject X Newsletter • Issue 4
Hello friends! We have been hard at work these past two months. For this report:
For the first time, we are happy to bring you an exhaustive, comprehensive WikiProject Directory. This directory endeavors to list every single WikiProject on the English Wikipedia, including those that don't participate in article assessment. In constructing the broadest possible definition, we have come up with a list of approximately 2,600 WikiProjects. The directory tracks activity statistics on the WikiProject's pages, and, for where it's available, statistics on the number of articles tracked by the WikiProject and the number of editors active on those articles. Complementing the directory are description pages for each project, listing usernames of people active on the WikiProject pages and the articles in the WikiProject's scope. This will help Wikipedians interested in a subject find each other, whether to seek feedback on an article or to revive an old project. (There is an opt-out option.) We have also come up with listings of related WikiProjects, listing the ten most relevant WikiProjects based on what articles they have in common. We would like to promote WikiProjects as interconnected systems, rather than isolated silos.
A tremendous amount of work went into preparing this directory. WikiProjects do not consistently categorize their pages, meaning we had to develop our own index to match WikiProjects with the articles in their scope. We also had to make some adjustments to how WikiProjects were categorized; indeed, I personally have racked up a few hundred edits re-categorizing WikiProjects. There remains more work to be done to make the WikiProject directory truly useful. In the meantime, take a look and feel free to leave feedback at the WikiProject X talk page.
What have we been working on?
- A new design template—This has been in the works for a while, of course. But our goal is to design something that is useful and cleanly presented on all browsers and at all screen resolutions while working within the confines of what MediaWiki has to offer. Additionally, we are working on designs for the sub-components featured on the main project page.
- A new WikiProject talk page banner in Lua—Work has begun on implementing the WikiProject banner in Lua. The goal is to create a banner template that can be usable by any WikiProject in lieu of having its own template. Work has slowed down for now to focus on higher priority items, but we are interested in your thoughts on how we could go about creating a more useful project banner. We have a draft module on Test Wikipedia, with a demonstration.
- New discussion reports—We have over 4.8 million articles on the English Wikipedia, and almost as many talk pages as well. But what happens when someone posts on a talk page? What if no one is watching that talk page? We are currently testing out a system for an automatically-updating new discussions list, like RFC for WikiProjects. We currently have five test pages up for the WikiProjects on cannabis, cognitive science, evolutionary biology, and Ghana.
- SuggestBot for WikiProjects—We have asked the maintainer of SuggestBot to make some minor adjustments to SuggestBot that will allow it to post regular reports to those WikiProjects that ask for them. Stay tuned!
- Semi-automated article assessment—Using the new revision scoring service and another system currently under development, WikiProjects will be getting a new tool to facilitate the article assessment process by providing article quality/importance predictions for articles yet to be assessed. Aside from helping WikiProjects get through their backlogs, the goal is to help WikiProjects with collecting metrics and triaging their work. Semi-automation of this process will help achieve consistent results and keep the process running smoothly, as automation does on other parts of Wikipedia.
Want us to work on any other tools? Interested in volunteering? Leave a note on our talk page.
The database report which lists WikiProjects according to the number of watchers (i.e., people that have the project on their watchlist), is back! The report stopped being updated a year ago, following the deactivation of the Toolserver, but a replacement report has been generated.
Until next time,
Harej (talk) 22:20, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

RFA
Hello, are you interested in adminship yet? If yes, what have you done to be an experienced editor awaiting adminship? The Snowager-is awake 18:07, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Snowager: Thanks, I've been considering a RfA. I've been considering a go in one to two months and already have a bureaucrat who plans to nominate me. I'd always appreciate a co-nomination though. Thanks! Winner 42 Talk to me! 20:18, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- No problem. The Snowager-is awake 17:15, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

This article really contains loads of unsourced claims (f.e. LVP's size), it includes blatant advertisement-like text Variety of sporting activities can be performed within the palace compound itself! and, the worst: bullshit about Gates and Hawkens (see Intro). Please help the article, I didn't mean to irritate or something, this was a real warning: someone should do something about LVP, it's deteriorating, nobody is looking after vandalism. Ciao, 82.174.116.230 (talk) 20:20, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- Blanking the page isn't the answer, feel free to remove what you feel is inaccurate or can't find sources for, but please don't completely blank the article. Thank you. Winner 42 Talk to me! 19:45, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

No it was not a mistake. I deleted the wrong misleading information. ILiriaALB (talk) 14:03, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

modification on possibile page
hi winner, what you say about possibile is simply wrong. in the article you cited a singular atypical example of position but possibile is definitely not a libertarian party for free market. so I believe the informations on the page were misleading that's why I deleted those words. their primary focus is instead on redistributive policy as I wrote it as you can easily verify on the last posts in www.ciwati.it (italian). please before deleting the text, verify the correctness of the informations. best, marco — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.49.247.74 (talk) 16:42, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I have reinstated your edit, happy editing! Winner 42 Talk to me! 19:48, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
Failedmessiah
The entire failedmessiah blog is full of lies. Aswell he's name is Scott not Shmarya. I don't understand are you am anti Semite? Why are you editing what I posted? Please explain I don't mean to be rude DUI666 (talk) 17:00, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- Information on Wikipedia, especially that about living people needs reliable sources to back up statements. I have no opinion on the person and have reinstated a section of removed well sourced controversy content which was removed. Winner 42 Talk to me! 19:55, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
University Club of Baton Rouge
Hi Winner 42, For clarification purposes, you are going to revert "University Club of Baton Rouge" back to "The University Club (Baton Rouge)"? Then through a different process convert the page back to the "University Club of Baton Rouge" as it's officially called? Just making sure I understand the process correctly. Thanks in advance. spatms talk 01:17, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- Looks like this has been dealt with by Ritchie333, thanks for improving Wikipedia. Winner 42 Talk to me! 19:42, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hours of research, content additions, references and formatting have been lost in the conversion bc it converted to a previous version. How can we restore the many hours of work done improving the page? spatms talk 02:03, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
- Ask @Ritchie333: to restore information from the deleted version or make a request at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. Admins can restore any content lost. Winner 42 Talk to me! 19:08, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Spatms: Probably the easiest thing to do is since all of the deleted edits were made by you, you can manually merge back in your old content, avoiding a history merge which is always a pain if the history overlaps. I've emailed you the content.
- And on a related note, I'm surprised Winner 42 didn't do this himself, and it seems it's because he's not an admin. I think we should fix that. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 20:19, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Ritchie333: I've been reluctant to do an RfA, but this is the third time someone has asked me about RfA in the past 3 weeks. If you will nominate me, I guess I'll have a go at it. Winner 42 Talk to me! 21:55, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Ponies are cute, intelligent, cuddly, friendly (most of the time, though with notable exceptions), promote good will, encourage patience, and enjoy carrots. Treat your pony with respect and he will be your faithful friend! Montanabw(talk) 04:23, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
