Re:Adoption

Winner, I really, really, want to help, but I have several issues at the moment: 1. I'm not really active in Wikipedia anymore since I'm pretty tied up in daily life stuff.

2. I've rather forgotten a lot of Wiki knowledge so I'm no longer eligible to help out as an adopter (speaking of which, I have to remove my name from the list)
3. There are other editors out there who can better help you with coaching/teaching and stuff, so I suggest you continue finding. It may be difficult to find one (I've had my share of problems regarding that, too) but if you find one editor who's free enough to help you out, I'm sure the two of you will have fun together.
Wikipedia has many guidelines as well as rules and all that, but you'll be able to quote from them in no time (I was able to do so, once upon a time) and it's really, really fun to do. I became a Wikiholic a couple of years back and I did not regret being one, because there are many things about writing that you can pick up on Wikipedia. So...I hope you'll have fun editing and exploring the many, many pages of the Wiki, and cheers!

PS: You can always ask me questions, and I'll help out with everything concerning Wiki and out of it. I'm 18 by the way, if that helps. =) Anyway, see you around! I check Wiki once a day or two, so you'll need not be afraid that I won't reply. Cheers, and peace. Zacharycrimsonwolf 10:50, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

I got your message, I would be interested in adopting you, but it would be a good idea to first know what area(s) of the encyclopedia you are interested in working in and what you would like to be doing? Trusilver 19:41, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

I don't really have area of the encyclopedia I am very interested in. Most of the time I just click random article and see if it needs editing. One of the reasons I want to be adopted is to find an area that I might be interested in. As for what I would like to be doing: I'll anything you recommend or that you think I will like to do.

Winner 42 (talk) 14:32, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Finding random articles that need editing is not a bad start. If you asked around, you would probably find that the majority of long-time Wikipedians got their start just because they were looking at an article and found a typo in it, that's how I made my first edit. There is plenty of work to be done on articles, but there is just as much work to be done in projectspace, which at this point you have probably not done much more than scratched the surface of this area. Projectspace is all the behind the scenes parts of Wikipedia, it's the parts where the project is administered and maintained. Going to the main page is always a good way to see what needed to be done, just scroll down. Trusilver 07:54, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

If you aren't happy with adoption by Trusilver for any reason, I just wanted to say I'd also be happy to adopt you. You can learn more about me through my userpage or my userboxes. If you want to be Trusilver's adoptee, please update you userbox to let me know. Also, if you enjoy the Percy Jackson task force you might like to check out WikiProject Children's literature. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 13:21, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

I have now adopted you! If you have any comments, questions, or anything you want to talk about, you can leave me a message at my adoption page. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 16:44, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

My Secret Page

Three things:

  1. I found your secret page.
  2. I'm glad there is another HHGG obsessed person out there. :)
  3. At the top of the secret page, there are instructions. I removed your name; you can re-add your name once you follow my instructions. :)

And I think that's all I have to say. Hi878 (talk) 21:10, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

And now that you've done that, I can deliver this. :)
Nope! Nice job. You found the wrong page. So, are you going to try again? Or will you just give up?

Have fun. Good luck. Hope to see you trying again,

It works fine for me on Firefox 3.5. Perhaps there is a bug in the new release... do other similar tabs work? The same formatting is used on the WikiProject Children's literature page, in Recognised content. strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 20:19, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Grab some glory, and a barnstar

Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. monosock 04:52, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Tracker Task Force

I have nominated Groton-Dunstable Regional Middle School, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Groton-Dunstable Regional Middle School. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. -- Marcus Qwertyus (talk) 00:05, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Pages for Peace requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. — Timneu22 · talk 14:16, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

20:31:54, 14 April 2015 review of submission by Jmorange

Hello Winner 42,

I really do need your help and I would really appreciate any and all guidance, advice, and editing you can help me with! Thank you! I feel like I have been working on this for a while, and I have edited and followed three different editors suggestions to get this passed. The article has been significantly changed numerous times since my first submission of the article. I was wondering what it would take to get this article passed. I don't feel like I can be too far away from the article being okay. I have followed every editor's suggestion to me so far, and every time a new editor has a new problem with the article. Should I take out the community initiatives section completely? Or is it just how the section is written? I have seen various other banks on Wikipedia pages with similar sections on their page. For example [National Bank in Eastern Kentucky] has a donations section. Albeit, much smaller than my article. Should I make the section smaller? I wanted to include more than just the history of the bank, and I thought the connection with 9/11 shows the bank's significance. I am open to any suggestion you have. I would really like to get this passed, especially because it takes so long to review the article after I have submitted it. I have been working on this for months now, and I would really like for my next submission to pass. If you could please help edit it and suggest changes for me to make so that there is no doubt the next time I submit, it will be approved. Thank you for your help! Jmorange (talk) 20:31, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Jmorange (talk) 20:31, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, for not getting back to you sooner. Your article was a very solid basis for a full article, and thankfully User:CookieMonster755 has done a commendable job cleaning up the article and your work together has produced a good quality article. I have gone ahead and reviewed the revision by CookieMonster and approved the article. You can now find it here. I applaud your efforts to stick with the AfC process, despite the current backlog and somewhat impersonal responses you sometimes get from editors such as myself. To give some context as to why business articles have come under lots of scrutiny lately, Wikipedia has been encountering a problem with artspam recently and the standards may have become too high at the AfC process as a reaction to organizations seeking to self promote. (Not excusing you of this, I don't think you are, but it is a wide trend on Wikipedia). The place of where to draw the line when an article has a mild promotion tone has moved around a lot recently. Enough of my rambling, I hope you choose to continue to contribute to Wikipedia, and I'd be happy to work with you in the future if you are interested in writing more articles. Happy Editing! Winner 42 Talk to me! 03:31, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
Congratulations Jmorange, as an AfC member, I am VERY proud of you for sticking with our crazy AfC process! I am glad I got to work with you. You created a great article, and I hope I can see YOU create more good quality Wikipedia articles! I look forward to talking with you in the future! Cheers!! Hello Winner 42 and CookieMonster755,

THANK YOU SO MUCH! This is such a relief. I cannot tell you how excited I am, and I wish I could thank both of you in person for your help. I have to admit the process was a little exhausting, but it was well worth it with your help. With all the effort I put into this, I cannot explain how amazing it feels to get my first article published on Wikipedia! I hope to work with both of you in the future, and thank you again for your help! Thank you for your patience, as I know the article was rough, and your time and devotion to helping me! Pax Jmorange (talk) 13:38, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Re: April 2015

Hello, the page "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amir-Abbas_Fakhravar" needs to be marked for consideration as a Libel Wikipedia page as it is not neutral. Although the Persian page follows a more neutral perspective.

Can you explain why you feel that the content of those sections is libelous? Winner 42 Talk to me! 20:17, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Re: Sandoval Page

In regards to Sandoval's Page, the description is inaccurate. Currently there is a 3% cap on the number of participants who can participate in the solar program. The Governor must wait for the legislature to change the law prior to performing any action. Governor Sandoval can not unilaterally make the change as this article suggests he has the power to do. Thank You.

Ok, I will remove the section, thank you for your input. Winner 42 Talk to me! 21:10, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Huggle revert

Hi, your Huggle revert didn't look like reverting vandalism to me. Did you have a particular reason for using rollback here, when it is only applicable in a few situations? Conifer (talk) 00:41, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Deliberately inserting false information into an article is considered vandalism by most standards. You can tell it is deliberate by examining the editor's overall vandalism and personal attacking (including telling one editor "You fucking suck you shitty Jew." In addition to the fact that the information is false. Huggle actually has a preset warning for factual errors, I believe there may have been an edit conflict with leaving a warning on the talk page though, not sure why one isn't there. Hope that answers your question. Winner 42 Talk to me! 00:51, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
Well, I'd say that whether to list American Airlines or US Airways in infoboxes (now that they've got a single operating certificate) isn't clear-cut enough to be obviously false one way or the other. The IP certainly has some nasty vandalism, but we have to judge each edit on its merits. Conifer (talk) 00:57, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
Fair enough, it seemed like deliberately adding false information at the time, in the two quick searches for information on the subject. Upon further investigation (And learning that US Airways and American Airlines merged, where have I been?), I would not have used rollback in that case. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Winner 42 Talk to me! 01:20, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
Sounds good. I'll watchlist that IP's talk page to check if they make any further nasty edits in the future. Conifer (talk) 03:48, 17 April 2015 (UTC)
It has been restored. Since the flights are now technically operated by American Airlines but the flights are still branded as US Airways. US Airways will remain a brand for now until the last bits of the integration has been completed (i.e. reservation systems, websites, passenger services, etc.). Citydude1017 (talk) 07:09, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Allan Pettersson

Hi Winner 42, I've removed some content from Allan Pettersson. I've added a "Infobox person", but I realized, that for composers this is controversial (see Discussion: George Frideric Handel). So I decided to remove my own contribution. In future, I will use edit summary. Why did you undo the Persondata edit? Something wrong with this? 176.199.38.10 (talk) 12:22, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

My bad, I didn't intend to remove the persondata, and I have since reverted my revert. I believe was intending to revert your removal of the infobox, but I failed to see that you had edited it in. Thanks for catching this.
On a somewhat unrelated note, do you know why the consensus on classical composers is to not include infoboxes? It seems rather strange that this one wikiproject has a different approach to almost all other wikiprojects. I've read through their guidelines which seem rather neutral on the topic and the debate over at Beethoven seemed fairly mixed. Winner 42 Talk to me! 13:16, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

AfC

This IP is going around submitting other people's drafts, is that allowed? — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 14:22, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

I saw that, it is very strange. I have not seen this behavior before, I'm going to make a report at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents in a few minutes about it. Winner 42 Talk to me! 14:25, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

(edit conflict) (By the way) The creator of Draft:Esproenko International was working on the draft using material from another article, and some of that old material was still in the draft when you reviewed it. The creator was not done with the draft and he did not submit it, that IP^ did. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 14:26, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I think I'm just going to leave the decline there anyway, no harm done. If you think it should be removed, you can go ahead as I did not notice that a random IP had submitted the draft at the time of review. Winner 42 Talk to me! 14:30, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

I think this person is important about Macedonian History. He was a hero from 2001. I don't see why people from Macedonian descent are not interested (according to Wikipedia) to have an article here. On the other hand people from Albanian descent from the same armed conflict are interested for Wikipedia and have articles such as Ismet Jashari and others. Are Macedonian lives and sacrifices less valuable to Wikipedia then the Albanian?

Vey Respectafully,

  • User:Perdika
Wikipedia treats people from all nationalities neutrally. If this man is a hero, you need more reliable sources identifying him as such. From the article right now it only appears to be a common soldier who died in conflict and there are millions of those. The article should describe why this particular soldier is important. Hope this helps. Winner 42 Talk to me! 17:48, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your replay. Yes that is thru and I understand that there can not be an article for every soldier that was killed in every war that we know of... but if that is the case for Macedonian soldiers that should be the case for Albanian soldiers from 2001 (terrorist as we call them here). I'll try to improve the articles about fallen Macedonian soldiers from 2001 but it will take time for researching.

The same soldiers that I'm trying to create page for on English Wikipedia have or are on a list of people that are important for Macedonian WikipediaСписок на загинати бранители на Македонија. How are rules for English from Macedonian Wikipedia different? Aren't bought operated by the same company?

  • User:Perdika
The different language wikis often have different rules despite being all operated by the Wikimedia Foundation. In this case, I'm not sure that article is up to the standards of the Macedonian Wikipedia either, but I don't understand the language so I'll leave it for editors over there to sort out. In the interest of fairness, I have also nominated the article on Ismet Jashari which also does not pass the english wikipedia's policies on people. Winner 42 Talk to me! 18:39, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Thanks you again, here is some more Albanian people pages that are connected with the same war and are used in English Wikipedia pages regarding the war: Fadil Nimani, Tahir Sinani, Rahim Beqiri Kindly,

  • User:Perdika
Thanks for the links, it seems that all those people played important parts in the conflict, so I will not be nominating them for deletion, if you disagree, feel free to nominated them yourself over here. Winner 42 Talk to me! 19:44, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Polvorín Workshop

Hi there, thanks for your kind words about Polvorín Workshop - they're very much appreciated. Since I'm fairly new to Wikipedia, I wanted to ask you about the patrolling process (which you seem to be a part of). There have been a couple of articles (Grupo Emepa and Trams in Buenos Aires) I have created which were never patrolled, is this an oversight or was I simply never notified? I had always assumed all new pages are patrolled. SegataSanshiro1 (talk) 19:34, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

There is currently a severe backlog of 5135 unreviewed pages despite nearly 2000 being reviewed each week. Those pages you made were just never looked at by a new pages patroller. The reality is that lots of articles are going unreviewed. The articles for creation process is doing slightly better with only a moderate backlog of ~700 pages to review, but neither situation is ideal. Efrem Smith Article

Winner 42

Do you mind telling me what is promotional about the wikipedia page about Efrem Smith?

Hello, Articles that have a very positive or promotional tone are eligible for deletion under WP:G11, but I cannot tell you what specifically what was promotional about that article as it has since been deleted. If you'd like to work on your article with other editors in a space where it won't be deleted, I recommend Articles for Creation a friendly space for new editors to create articles. WikiProject X Newsletter • Issue 3

Greetings! For this month's issue...

We have demos!

After a lengthy research and design process, we decided for WikiProject X to focus on two things:

  • A WikiProject workflow that focuses on action items: discussions you can participate in and tasks you can perform to improve the encyclopedia; and
  • An automatically updating WikiProject directory that gives you lists of users participating in the WikiProject and editing in that subject area.

We have a live demonstration of the new WikiProject workflow at WikiProject Women in Technology, a brand new WikiProject that was set up as an adjunct to a related edit-a-thon in Washington, DC. The goal is to surface action items for editors, and we intend on doing that through automatically updated working lists. We are looking into using SuggestBot to generate lists of outstanding tasks, and we are looking into additional options for automatic worklist generation. This takes the burden off of WikiProject editors to generate these worklists, though there is also a "requests" section for Wikipedians to make individual requests. (As of writing, these automated lists are not yet live, so you will see a blank space under "edit articles" on the demo WikiProject. Sorry about that!) I invite you to check out the WikiProject and leave feedback on WikiProject X's talk page.

Once the demo is sufficiently developed, we will be working on a limited deployment on our pilot WikiProjects. We have selected five for the first round of testing based on the highest potential for impact and will scale up from there.

While a re-designed WikiProject experience is much needed, that alone isn't enough. A WikiProject isn't any good if people have no way of discovering it. This is why we are also developing an automatically updated WikiProject directory. This directory will surface project-related metrics, including a count of active WikiProject participants and of active editors in that project's subject area. The purpose of these metrics is to highlight how active the WikiProject is at the given point of time, but also to highlight that project's potential for success. The directory is not yet live but there is a demonstration featuring a sampling of WikiProjects.

Each directory entry will link to a WikiProject description page which automatically list the active WikiProject participants and subject-area article editors. This allows Wikipedians to find each other based on the areas they are interested in, and this information can be used to revive a WikiProject, start a new one, or even for some other purpose. These description pages are not online yet, but they will use this template, if you want to get a feel of what they will look like.

We need volunteers!

WikiProject X is a huge undertaking, and we need volunteers to support our efforts, including testers and coders. Check out our volunteer portal and see what you can do to help us!

As an aside...

Wouldn't it be cool if lists of requested articles could not only be integrated directly with WikiProjects, but also shared between WikiProjects? Well, we got the crazy idea of having experimental software feature Flow deployed (on a totally experimental basis) on the new Article Request Workshop, which seeks to be a place where editors can "workshop" article ideas before they get created. It uses Flow because Flow allows, essentially, section-level categorization, and in the future will allow "sections" (known as "topics" within Flow) to be included across different pages. What this means is that you have a recommendation for a new article tagged by multiple WikiProjects, allowing for the recommendation to appear on lists for each WikiProject. This will facilitate inter-WikiProject collaboration and will help to reduce duplicated work. The Article Request Workshop is not entirely ready yet due to some bugs with Flow, but we hope to integrate it into our pilot WikiProjects at some point.

Just to give you a heads-up, there are going to be four more pages that are going to split the info from the original page into regional pages, like the OHSAA East/Southeast Regions athletic conferences page has already been. The plan is to turn the main page now into just a list of the conferences in each region, and the Region pages to have the main bulk of the info (there will be Central, Northeast, Northwest, and Southwest Region pages in the works). Just wanted to let you know so we can avoid any problems with the info coming up on mirror pages. While there is an eventual plan to do this for the Defunct Ohio high school athletic conferences page eventually, this is going to take some time, since many of the schools in those old conferences no longer exist. Again, thanks for taking care of that and hope this makes things a little easier. Mtndrums (talk) 11:39, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the info. Happy Editing! Winner 42 Talk to me! 13:52, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Jose Luis Gonzalez stub page is not the same as the page about him that was at AFD

Hello Winner_42, Respectfully speaking, I think you have me confused with some different editor. I never submitted an article about Jose Luis Gonzalez to AFD. There was a lengthy article about the same subject submitted at one time by some other editor. I did try to assist that editor with some editing, but there has been no further communication between us. I created a stub article also about Jose Luis Gonzalez. The stub article I created has never been at AFC. It has never been at AFD. The article should not be speedily deleted because the rationale stated for speedy deletion was "because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate" does not apply in this particular case. While the article subject did have a lengthy barely referenced article which did have a deletion discussion, it was moved to draft space at the end of discussion. Furthermore, the stub article I created is substantially different. It is a stub article at this time, and is currently being expanded. It includes specific examples of the notoriety of the artist, and is well referenced. I do have the intention of expanding the article further. I would ask that you withdraw your speedy delete nomination. Thank you. WordSeventeen (talk) 15:27, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Not nonsense

You tagged Janina lokākāŝa a guide and treasury for modern cosmology as "patent nonsense" (WP:CSD#G1). This is clearly incorrect. "Patent nonsense" is defined as text that has no meaning. Examples include:

ddidk kedi elkdj eied a;l1ad a;le3ewa 6^e;d;ad;lfj

and

The dog flew bluely through the left plaid.

The first example is pure gibberish, while the second is just a string of random words conveying no meaning. The article in question falls into neither of these categories: it is a coherent and understandable exposition on the nature of cosmology under the Jain religion, and thus cannot be considered patent nonsense. (In fact, it is rather insulting to the millions of Jains in the world to label this article as patent nonsense.)

I have retagged the article because it largely duplicates the material of Jain cosmology. Please be careful with WP:CSD#G1 nominations. This is really a very narrow criterion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:43, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

How you were able to determine that this article is about Jainism is beyond me. The article is almost made up entirely of incomprehensible sentence fragments and phrases that make no sense outside of the context of Jainism. Without looking closely at it, it appeared that the article fell into the second category. Either way, this essay has no place in wikipedia and I will be more careful when using G1 in the future. Max Headroom (character) page edits

Hi, Winner 42. I am a little confused by your changes to my edits on this page as "failing to maintain a neutral point of view." The only change was to update the URL of the Max Headroom archival site I maintain, from a long-obsolete TikiWiki-based version to a fully updated MediaWiki version. I don't see any value in maintaining a link that will send users to a dead end.

If your objection is in any part due to describing www.MaxHeadroom.com as "the most comprehensive" such site on the web, I suppose I can leave out that modifier, but as the lineal curator of the oldest and by far largest Max Headroom related site to exist at any time, which has recently been vastly expanded to include the first correct and comprehensive listing of MH shows, guests and topics, as well as obscurities like the era of "German Max," the adjective is absolutely accurate. The site contains far more than all the Wikipedia and IMDb entries put together - and a future task is to backfeed the vast trove of newly-collated information into these primary sites.

I will wait for your reply, but someone really should update the URL, at least - "non-neutral" descriptors optional. 71.235.251.78 (talk) 19:22, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

My main objection to that edit was in fact your referring to it as "the most comprehensive" which, while it may be true, comes across as very promotional of that site. Leaving the line saying that it is comprehensive should be sufficient. Feel free to go back and correct the link/statement, but do it in a way that isn't designed to promote the site. Winner 42 Talk to me! 02:05, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I guess. The reference has been to the "comprehensive" site for several years, it's now much more comprehensive, it's basically the only Max Headroom site on the web (that's more than a few recycled pages), and it's entirely noncommercial. But I'll leave off "most" this time. 71.235.251.78 (talk) 20:45, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Darren Dean page

Hi as you can guess I'm a new user. I was wondering if you could give a few tips on what kind of webpages are deemed reliable sources and which are not. Would news sites that covered his productions count? or reviews of his films? or interviews? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Bunbreath (talk) 18:09, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Reliable sources are described in depth here but the gist of it is that, "Articles should be based on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy." Additionally your article needs to have a neutral point of view so that it isn't promoting its subject. Hopefully that helps. Winner 42 Talk to me! 18:31, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

You removed my criticism of you

Hey Winter42, I think my previous criticism on your talk page was fair. You removed an edit I made within 30 seconds of me posting it, before I finished reediting with the reference. I think that behavior is inappropriate and you should take seriously peoples criticisms of your seemingly automatic knee jerk behavior. First, it doesn't appear to fit in with the prevailing culture here. Second, it is rude and will drive away valuable contributions. I am not trying to be uncivil but I'd argue you started this confrontation. Please, have some grace, tact and wisdom while you are enjoying the site. I donate every month to support it, I would rather it not go downhill. I thank you kindly for your consideration of this request. 184.96.128.11 (talk) 19:58, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Removal of content form one's own talk page is considered to be an acknowledgement of its existence. An editor may handle their own talk page in any manner they choose within the policies here. That act was within policy. Fiddle Faddle 20:02, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, Tim. To go over the series of events here. First this IP editor posts a statement to Jumpstart_Our_Business_Startups_Act, "The bill also removed certain disclosure requirements which are not related to the spirit of the bill, such as the removal of executive compensation from reporting requirements." which I reverted for lacking a reliable source as per WP:OR. Rather than add a reference, the IP then proceeds to personally attack me. Some editors choose to leave those (Tim I don't know how you do it), but my talk page would be almost all personal attacks if I did leave them considering the sheer quantity of vandals I deal with. Third, I spend my time on wikipedia as a volunteer, I do not receive payment for my work, nor do your donations have any effect upon me. I too would prefer Wikipedia to not go downhill, and that is why I spend my time removing original research from wikipedia such as the statement that was made. Winner 42 Talk to me! 20:18, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
OK listen, sorry, maybe I was rude through the screen. But you did it before I even had a chance to add the reference. Really, it was almost immediate. I don't think that is OK, sorry friend. Please, just let people edit Wikipedia... that is the point. I spend my time on Wikipedia as a volunteer too -- so I don't understand the distinction you are trying to make. Anyways, I actually am really sorry I got upset but it wasn't the first time it has happened to me that editors, probably editors who spend a lot of time on the site, delete my material almost before I even have a chance to open another tab. Lastly, it wasn't original research... it was something that is, it is true, prima facie obvious, but nevertheless many other people have expressed it in "sources." Anyways, from a humanist, my apologies. But stop pretending that removing sentences makes the site better -- I would argue always for inclusion. 184.96.128.11 (talk) 22:37, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
There is also another way to cut this knot. Instead of presuming knowledge, there are a few wikipedia tools you could use. For instance, you could use: {{Citation needed}}

Neda Kaizumi page requested for speedy deletion

Hello Winner42,

I received an e-mail that the page I created about Neda Kaizumi was requested to be speedily deleted, because of the insignificance of the person.

The person is an author of two books so far, so I think the person is not insignificant. I would like to work on expanding the page. What do you think about that?

Best regards, Wojwa — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wojwa (talkcontribs) 06:53, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Notability on Wikipedia is an interesting concept. It typically isn't based on what the article says someone has done, but rather what other sources say about them. See WP:42. If you are interested in recreating the page, I would recommend using Articles for Creation which will let you work on a draft before getting your article published. This avoids the issue of having your article deleted before it is ready. Winner 42 Talk to me! 16:35, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Lowell Nesbitt Edit

Lreiland (talk) 15:43, 22 April 2015 (UTC) Dear Winner 42:

My name is Lowell Reiland, who was a Soho sculptor and very close friend to Lowell Nesbitt from 1982 through his passing in 1993.

The additions to (the other) Lowell's Wikipedia listing were added by me as clarifications this morning to past mistakes (his Little 14th Street "Stable" Studio was sold by him in the mid-1980's, not upon his passing in 1993, and he moved into Soho and built a country studio compound) plus gave interesting details of Lowell's Soho and country living experiences.

Lowell N.'s Wikipedia list was always so professionally well written by the eminent art historian, art collector, and Lowell's close friend Noel Frackman. Upon Noel's transition in the late 1990's Lowell's Wikipedia listing was dramatically shortened, with many incorrect facts place throughout, which bothered myself and other friends who knew Lowell well.

Unfortunately, I did not make a copy of the editing that I did within Lowell Nesbitt's Wikipedia listing this morning. Is there a way that these valid edits may be retrieved in an archive for reinstatement, as I will not have time this week to rework the edit?

Also, for future reference please forward me the Wikipedia instructions for "validating" editing correction alterations.

Thank you for your overseeing Wikipedia, a friend of mine in the 1990's, Lenny (??Lebrall??) from Ledyard, CT used to be one of the Wikipedia editors, in case you were volunteering at that time.

May all be well with you, your friends and family this spring season.

Sincerely,

Lowell Reiland April 22, 2015 Santa Fe, New Mexico

Hello, I assuming you were editing as User:50.130.240.61, if not please correct me. The issue some editors had with your edits is that while you were acting in good faith to add information and correct errors, the other editors had no way of knowing what you were saying was true. On Wikipedia we use a system of referencing information from reliable sources to verify that content is accurate. Here is a guide on how to do that and here is a short video on the basics of including information into wikipedia.

Every edit ever made to a wikipedia page is also saved in the page's history which can be viewed by clicking the "View History" button at the top of the page. From there you can retrieve the edits you made earlier. I'd recommend copying the edits you made earlier and then adding sources to them so they can stay in Wikipedia. Regrettably, I do not recall ever encountering a Lenny from Connecticut but I'm sure he did a fine job.

I hope that answers your questions, if you have more feel free to ask away! Winner 42 Talk to me! 17:38, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

If you wish to try rewriting your article in a nonpromotional way, I would recommend submitting a draft to WP:AfC so it won't get deleted immediately. Thank you. I just posted it for request like you said? What part of it don't you like? This is a company like any other? why are other companies allowed to have their pages and this company not? There is nothing there which is different to other posts on other pages. It does not advertise any particular service? Wasn't this the process? Can't you take out what you think is advertisement? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kristuq (talkcontribs) 20:24, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

John

just help me get it published. I dot care what amends you need to make. Just help me please

Hello John, thanks for coming this far through the AfC process which can be difficult at times. I'm a bit too busy to work on your article for the moment. Consider asking the AfC helpdesk. Good luck with your draft! Winner 42 Talk to me! 21:21, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Costaruis

Hi Winsford is not just Over and Wharton it is also Swanlow and Dene. The Dene and Swanlow do not sit in Wharton or Over on a map of Winsford which is situated at the town Council office. So it is a town of three areas not two. Winsford does have the largest Neighbourhood Plan in the UK as voted for by residents. This is a fact. The Marina is being developed into a tourist attraction with dredging taking place and new moorings to allow touring boats back into Winsford. Winsford do consider our town to be the heart of Cheshire. All facts so why did you remove them? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Costaruis (talkcontribs) 21:04, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Executed criminals in France

Hello, ther is no mistake on the date of Gunther Volz's exectuion: it's December 16th, 1967; see the following links: http://guillotine.voila.net/Palmares1871_1977 ; http://guillotine.voila.net/Condamnations1870-1981.html. -- Félix FR Talk to me 01:07, 23 April 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.79.100.131 (talk)

Edit to BBC pm page

That revision you reverted on the BBC rdio 4 page. I do think ou have made an error. I was listening to the programme and they did't carry out the experiment solely to show how Shapps could have edited the page, but also how easy it would be for someone else to do it and try to make a fool of Shapps. So the text as reverted is misleading. My edit made it more accurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.0.91.242 (talk) 07:37, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
You've done good anti-vandalism work on Wikipedia recently, as I always seem to be getting into edit conflicts with you when I do recent changes patrolling! I've been fighting vandals for a year and a half now, and I'm always amazed that, even when other vandal fighters move on, new ones seem to show up out of nowhere to take their place. Vandal fighters need to support each other, so here's my support -- a barnstar! May your work keep Wikipedia clean and safe from those who wish to harm it. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 13:02, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
@K6ka: Thank you very much :) Defending Wikipedia against the endless tides of vandals is something I actually find very relaxing. Good luck on your on anti-vandalism escapades! Winner 42 Talk to me! 14:34, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Requested deletion of Wikipedia:WikiProject Mumbai/Articles

Hi, You noted correctly that I tried to add deletion tags or something similar.

However, I admit that i may have done something wrong.

My main aim purpose was to put that article up for deletion since the correct implementation of that list i at Category: Wikiproject Mumbai/Articles (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:WikiProject_Mumbai_articles)

Therefore the page in question is vestigial and usless and redundant and can be safely removed.

Please correct me If I am wrong. Cheers Anonymousbananas (talk) 15:37, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

You appear to be correct, I have nominated the page for housekeeping deletion. Thanks for catching this! Winner 42 Talk to me! 18:51, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

CastleRock

Dear Winner42,

I appreciate your help keeping this page as accurate as possible. The information I keep trying to edit has been authored by a biased source and is inaccurate. It's not placed on the page appropriately and is not accurately portraying the situation. The subject matter is extremely controversial, and I believe these edits are being made by someone with ulterior motives. Unless written in an unbiased matter, please leave this information off the page. My interest is to keep this page accurate and unbiased.

Thank you, CastleRockChickCastleRockChick (talk) 15:31, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

@CastleRockChick: Hello, this event has been covered extensively, by numerous news organisations so it is clearly notable. The main issue was the mild bias favoring the protesters so I have gone ahead and completely rewritten it in its own sub-section with a neutral tone and point of view while removing the references to content produced by the protesters. Hopefully both sides can find this version acceptable. Winner 42 Talk to me! 18:18, 23 April 2015 (UTC
@Winner42: Respectfully, I still do not agree with this edit. I appreciate your attempt to write this content with a neutral tone, but this is still not accurate. Additionally, throughout the history of Castle Rock multiple news stories have taken place. None of these are being talked about on this page. Why is this event being singled out? Unless other high profile events are represented, singling out this one story makes it biased by nature. Thanks CastleRockChick (talk) 19:53, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
@CastleRockChick:, I agree with Winner 42, it's a significant event, and just because you don't like it doesn't been it shouldn't be there. Also, as I've noted on your talkpage, you've violated WP:3RR. Joseph2302 (talk) 19:59, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
@Joseph2302: I've taken this to Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard if you are interested in weighing in. Winner 42 Talk to me! 20:21, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Sir, Please do see : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Rajeev_Jain and tell me if you want more refrences. Thanks !! Jeff 13:14, 24 April 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhartendunatyaakademi (talkcontribs)

@Bhartendunatyaakademi: The amount of references is good, but ideally they would be spread more evenly throughout the article. The ideal format is, "Statement of Fact<ref>source supporting that statement</ref>". Winner 42 Talk to me! 14:00, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
