2008 PDL Season page

Thanks for the help. No, really, thanks. I've been the only one working on it for the last couple of months, and it's nice to see someone else helping to put in the scores. We (oh who am I kidding, I) usually wait until the day's over to put in all the results (it's pretty much a standard to wait until the day's matches are finished), but I'll give you a free pass on this one. ;-) Nice touch on the projected playoff teams and the explanation on who gets in and how. Also, I've been wondering how to figure out a bracket with the Central Conference situation the way it is this year, but that works. Thanks. Yea, see, that's the thing about the Western Conference is that the scores always come in too late. I'm usually in bed by the time they come in, so I take care of it the next morning. As for the division abbreviations, I looked at the 2006 PDL Season article for ideas, since that was the only other year the New England Division existed. That year I used NE for Northeast and NWE for New England. I've seen abbreviations for the Patriots that used NWE, so I think it was an appropriate solution and it wasn't totally off the wall. I really think NE should be reserved for the Northeast simply because it's used in so many other places and it's much easier to recognize, not to mention it wouldn't confuse anyone since it's a directional coordinate. I would stick with NWE, but if you have any better ideas, let me know. --Otav347 (talk) 15:07, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Yellow/Red Card designations

Ok, here's how the cards should be used. The overlapping red should be used only if the card earned is a second yellow. The first yellow would be shown with the time, then the overlapping red/yellow card would be used for the second offense. Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington (Seattle campus), and my group is reaching out to Wikipedians in the Puget Sound area. We're hosting a focus group designed to gather information on what Wikipedians would like to know about each other when interacting on Wikipedia. ECHL task force

I have been working on many ECHL articles since I joined Wikipedia a few years ago and am in the process of petitioning WikiProject Ice Hockey for a separate ECHL task force. As you are a Cincinnati Cyclones fan and minor league hockey fan in general and have made many edits and contributions to relevant articles, I felt that you would be qualified to help with the task force. I am asking ten other Wikipedians and am hoping for at least five commitments before I petition the WikiProject. Would you be interested in joining this potential task force? Hey, I've hit a snag when it comes to the ECHL task force. For the most productive task force, anywhere from five to ten members is desired and right now we only have four members that fit the criteria for developing articles and improving articles. With this said I wanted to ask you and the others who are cool with creating an ECHL task force, if they would rather keep going with a four person task force or expand the parameters of the task force to include all minor hockey leagues (including High level (AHL), Mid level (ECHL, IHL, CHL) and low level (EPHL, SPHL, etc)? USL 2009

Hi, I've been doing small edits to the United Soccer Leagues 2009 page for the last couple of months. I've been trying to not step on your toes and leave the adding of results to you. However, somebody added the Carolina v Miami game last night and didn't complete the edit (they only updated Carolina's results, not Miami's), so I went ahead and completed it. Greetings. The point of my edits was not to go to the WDL format, but rather to add tooltips to the header, as is appropriate for header and is currently in use everywhere. Albany article

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. . Mid-Indiana Conference

I noticed you added some information about previous members of the MIC a while back. I'm curious as to where you found the information. I'm always looking for good historical leads for the conference. City boy77 (talk) 02:04, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

AlmanacSports.com is where I've gotten a lot of info for conferences, and a lot of times I'll come up with info for a conference while looking at info for an entirely different conference (for an MIC example, today I was looking up info for the HAC and found out Western was actual a member of that conference for a few years in the early 1960's). I've dug up quite a bit of other info doing Google searches with a style of "(conference name)" "(school name)" format for schools that have moved to different conferences, and have come up with some good newspaper articles that will give out conference standings for certain years (unfortunately being able to reference those isn't always doable when I update, sometimes days or weeks will lapse between finding that info and then updating a conference page). A website called NewspaperArchive.com is also handy for leads, they have a lot of issues of the Kokomo Tribune and the Logansport Pharos Tribune & Press that I've been using for info. Hopefully those couple of sites can help ya get some info. I'm actually trying to figure out how the Tri-County and Howard County conferences relate to the MIC right now (I think the TCC is just an early name for the MIC, the HCC may or may not be a forerunner of the TCC). Wayne and Henry County Conferences

I am glad you liked what I posted, I love reading about the old conferences and teams. I added Knightstown and Carthage to Wayne County because I saw it on the East Central Conference (IHSAA) page so no research on my part, just trying to keep things consistent. I do wonder if there was a Randolph County Conference. They would have had PLENTY of schools for that! I have not seen the updates you spoke of yet, but will do so now! I can't wait to see your other postings about the conferences!!!!

I bet I could email my high school's (Centerville) athletic director (good friend of mine) and find out some info, atleast from the school's perspective. I know they were called the Cubs until the 20s and their colors were once red and gray. I don't remember when they switched colors though. I read that in a school paper once. I bet going through some of the old year books the school has could have some valuable info. I remember looking through old yearbooks to find basketball wins and losses.

Thanks for the updates! Now when you say Whitewater-Webster, they did not consolidate until Northeastern. Fountain City-Whitewater and Williamsburg-Webster were the pre-Northeastern mergers. I may be able to find something on the Wayne County schools because I had an aunt go to Whitewater. If she don't remember anything, I have a few relatives that might. I got an email from my aunt that went to Whitewater and she said that Fountain City-Whitewater was called Whitewater-Fountain City (Ft. City kept their building) and the mascot of the merged schools was the Bearcats. No word yet on the colors. Also Williamsburg-Webster was called Williamsburg much to Webster's disapproval. In another email from my aunt, she said that Whitewater-Fountain City's colors were a light blue and white, instead of Fountain City's black and gold or Whitewater's green and white. She also says that the W-W merger the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets remained "as is" while Webster had no representation in the merger. If that is true, I have no explanation for the articles you provided. Maybe it applied for some, but not others. Aces or Purple Aces

I think you might be right about the Pike County teams because I agree that there would not have been enough for a conference back then. I found some more information on Stendal where they are called the Purple Aces. Yeah, I am familiar with that link too. That sounds about right with Stendal not having a gymnasium as a few schools in Wayne County did not have their own gymnasium either at first. Greensfork stands out right off the bat because I think they had to practice at Centerville (my alma mater) a few times a year. Other schools I could see doing that at some point were Economy, Webster, Milton, Boston, Whitewater, and maybe Williamsburg. I think most got their own before closing down though. Laughery Valley Conference

I saw you added the page for the LVC and I am now following it. I did email some athletic directors like Crothersville, Brownstown and I think Medora but no response from either. I emailed my alma mater's (Centerville) athletic director, but he is struggling to find info because people have either died off or don't remember. I think he should have access to all kinds of year books and maybe they would mention something about conferences. Copy and paste moves of content

Hi Mtndrums, when you move content from one article to another, you need to make sure to say where it has come from. If not, it breaks the chain of attribution which is required for Wikipedia's licenses (CC-BY-SA 3.0 and GFDL). The best way to do that is using the template {{copied}} (preferably on the talkpages of the article it was copied from and the one where it was pasted). You can see an example of that on Talk:OHSAA Northwest Region athletic conferences. For a long read you can check out WP:CWW, but using the template satisfies everything on that page. Maps

How good are you with maps of conference teams? I ask because on the Conference Indiana page they have a map of the teams, but there is an error in it. Indiana County Athletic Conference pages and other topics

I have noticed you added more pages and they look great. A few things I wanted to bring up are Wingate, Independent/Unknown Conference pages and past conference championships.

First for Wingate, were they Blue and Gold? I vaguely remember seeing this one picture with "Old Time" memorabilia of a Wingate pennant that was Purple and Gold. That was way back in the 90s, so my memory may be incorrect. I think it was from a WTTV 4 Marsh/LoBills Grocery store basketball guide (NCAA and high school).

For the Independent/Unknown conference pages, I was wondering if we could list all of the schools that might have been independent or in an unknown conference or possible conferences on a Wikipedia page along with the usual school info (years school was active, county, colors, mascot, etc.). Maybe from that, somebody could come along and point us in the right direction on some schools and conferences. I bet that would take a lot of work though. Also, when I say independent, I don't mean independent for two or three years and joined another conference, I mean schools that may not have been in a conference at all.

Past Conference championships, I was wondering about because I can probably get conference championships for at least three years in the East Central Conference. Two are for Centerville and one is for Cambridge City. I don't know if any title is outright or shared. For Centerville, I remember seeing two sweat towel/manager towels with championship years on them and Centerville's former athletic director went to Cambridge City and when he was retiring they showed a team picture of his high school days on the basketball team.

Mbtribstar I believe I saw that nickname for them on a website years ago that unfortunately is no longer online. I've done another search online, but was unable to get any definitive hits on a mascot or team name. I do know that the town had an elementary school for years after the high school closed, but not being anywhere near Terre Haute, I'm not unable to do a physical search for records. If you're nearby, maybe hitting up the Vigo County Library would be the best bet to find some more information on the school, and it is possible I may not have the right name for them. Unfortunately this is the extent of the help I can offer right now. I've scanned the 1924-27 Terre Haute Star and Tribune at the Vigo County Public Library Special Collections department, and the few references and box scores to the team don't include the mascot/nickname. It would be great to have some trail toward that "Panthers" reference.
