I saw the good work you were doing on various law-related articles, and thought I'd say hello (setting aside temporarily the Middle/Inner Temple rivalry for the greater good of Wikipedia!) If there's anything I can do to help, do let me know. Best wishes, Bencherlite 19:25, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Wadham College userbox

I know it's not really the "done thing" to edit other people's user pages, but I thought I would ignore that particular rule to leave a little something for you... I thought the text-only version of the "Wadham student" userbox was a bit boring, so I borrowed and cropped a photo from the Wadham article. I did think about using the coat of arms, but the version on Wikipedia isn't a "free use" version, only a "fair use" - I'm not a copyright lawyer, I just do what WP says! - and WP doesn't approve of fair-use images in userboxes. Anyway, hope you like it. The template is {{user wadham oxon alumnus}} and is basically a cut-and-paste version of {{user wadham oxon}} but adding a photo instead of the last section. I can't work out how to get rid of the yellow comma, though! Best wishes, Bencherlite 21:32, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

No problem. My first template! Changing topic slightly, you might also be interested in a certain WikiProject - then you'll be entitled to another userbox, too! There is a WikiProject for law, but I must admit that I've done nothing to help it since signing up... Bencherlite 21:44, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Your VandalProof Application

Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Ukexpat. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that: you have under 250 mainspace edits. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank again for your interest in VandalProof. Prodego talk 16:15, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Jeffrey Hackney, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Welcome to VandalProof!

Thank you for your recent application to use AutoWikiBrowser. Regrettably, I have declined your request as you do not have 500 mainspace edits. You are welcome to apply again at a later time. Feel free to contact me with any questions, alphachimp 20:54, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Please use edit summaries

Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be nearly nonexistent low:

Edit summary usage for Ukexpat: 0% for major edits and 3% for minor edits. Based on the last 150 major and 143 minor edits in the article namespace.

Using edit summaries helps other editors quickly understand your edits, which is especially useful when you make changes to articles that are on others' watchlists. Thanks and happy editing! --Kralizec! (talk) 12:08, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to the League of Copyeditors

I'm very sorry I haven't had a chance to welcome you earlier, I have been incredibly busy lately. We are glad to have your help. Currently, we have really cut down the backlog of articles in need of copyedit. Therefore, a major goal at this moment is to identify new articles that are in need of work. When you run across them, be sure to tag them for copyediting.

If you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to drop me a line. Trusilver 06:23, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for cleaning up the article Alex Leake. However, you made two changes with which I disagree.

The title of two web-pages cited included a range of years which the original author had used a hyphen to separate, e.g. Quietly Making History ... Part Two: 1911-1915. When quoting the name of a work I would think it best to quote it accurately, in this case with the original hyphen.

Secondly, you changed the separator between the dates of birth and death in the opening paragraph from a spaced en-dash to a spaced em-dash. MOS:DATE#Dates of birth and death examples use the spaced en-dash. I see no reason to go against the MoS.

Again, thank you for taking the time and trouble to look over the article. Struway2 | Talk 23:50, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Max Mosley

I object most strongly to your identification of my four edits of Max Mosley as vandalism, which led to them being deleted. Each and every one of them was carefully sourced. They were researched at some length and to have them wiped out so dismissively, arbitrarily and unfairly is frustrating. They concern an important subject. Please justify and please reconsider. Duncan Berger (talk • 00:39, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Dear Ukexpat, you posted the following on my talk page in response to my above:

If you had checked the history page for the Max Mosley article carefully you would have seen that it was not I who reverted your edits but user Kl4m.

Sorry, I misinterpreted K14m's comments which, to this new user's eyes at any rate, were ambiguously phrased. When he wrote "reverted 4 edits by Duncan Berger identified as vandalism to last revision by Ukexpat", I thought he meant that he had reverted my edits after they had been identified by yourself as vandalism to the last revision. I now see what he meant, i.e. that he had reverted my edits to the last revision made by yourself. As I say, please bear with me as I'm new, although perhaps a well-placed comma would have helped! Please also note, btw, that I never accused you of reverting my edits, as you suggest, but rather of identifying them as vandalism - however, that was incorrect in itself and once again I apologise. I was always aware that it was K14m who did the actual reversion and I left him a message at the same time, which led to his own message, reconsidering the reversion, which you have noted. Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.

You know, I'd actually typed "nauseam", but it looked somewhat wrong in the edit box and so I changed it. Next time I'll trust my gut (or a dictionary) more. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! The editor who created this article removed the speedy tag, but I do think that it should not be a speedy candidate. I have adding an unreferenced tag, and perhaps you may feel that it should go to AFD. Random Fixer Of Things (talk) 19:05, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. It seems that it is still there, it is just that the Z is upper-case. Random Fixer Of Things (talk) 21:15, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of User talk:Endexxco

A tag has been placed on User talk:Endexxco, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:User talk:Endexxco|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ukexpat (talk) 22:20, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

{{prod}}?

You prodded guest house (lodging). Is checking the "what links here" button part of the due diligence you do before you place a {{prod}} on an article? Almost 50 articles point at that article.

I am not saying that clearing the wikipedia of cruft isn't important. It is important. But, in my experience, some of your colleagues who volunteer for the quality control patrols are hasty, and don't do simple obvious homework before they make their nomination.

I urge you to always check the "what links here" button before you make a nomination, if you aren't already doing so.

I don't think checking the actual article should have been part of your due diligence. But, I recently went through all of them, prior to drafting the stub you prodded. If you checked you would find that something like half of those articles refer to hotels, motels, hostels, bed and breakfasts and guest houses. It seems to me that the authors of those articles clearly thought that guest houses were different from those other kinds of lodgings. If you knew this would you have still recommended deletion?

WP:UAA reporting

Hey -- noticed your report on User:Dbogardsmithbarney at WP:UAA. I can tell from the report that you thought this was a borderline case but might be blockable. It's best not to do that; please use WP:UAA only for obvious violations. In non-clear cases, if you really have a problem with the username, you should discuss it with the user in question. Mangojuicetalk 21:17, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

CSD:A7

Hi. :) I came across your speedy deletion tag on Xerrox Vol.1, and I just wanted to point out to you that {{db-a7}} is specifically for people (individually or grouped) and websites. There is currently no consensus for speedily deleting other articles types under this criterion. Other articles that fail to assert notability should go through proposed deletion or articles for deletion. Thanks for keeping an eye out on article quality. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:56, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Can I just add to Moonriddengirl's comments, if you are going to add the A7 tag to articles, can you please check the page history before requesting speedy deletion? I noticed you tagged the clearly notable band Atreyu (band) for speedy deletion on notability concerns, but the article had just been vandalised to the version you tagged. I have reverted the vandalism, but if you check the history you should be able to clearly see that an editor who had just been warned for vandalism had just deleted a lot of text from the article.[1] --Canley (talk) 01:37, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Not to pile on here, because the vast majority of your speedy tags are valid. However, please go back and read the criteria for CSD A1. The article Jensen 541S was quite clearly not a no context article by Wikipedia definition. Thanks, Keeper | 76 21:09, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I was wondering about this. After seeing your note on the above page, I’ll see what I can do to clean it up. —Travistalk 16:05, 15 January 2008 (UTC) Sorry, we weren't able to suggest any articles for you. Something is probably wrong on our end.

A probeto the artical of Agha Zia ud din

Dear

Agha Zia ud din rizvi was considered as a prominent religious clerics in his contemporaries. This statement was ti men again broad casted in Geo Tv, Ptv , Ary, VOA and in Western media as well. And even I can provide evidence from the international news papers, moreover his martyrdom was condemn by the Ex-President of Iran Muhammad Khatimi during a Friday prayer at Tehran University. Moreover he was the more inflencial political and religious figure of Pakistan. On this base i am requesting you to please reactivate my Artical other wise it would be considered as a huge injustice. If not I will request you to provide a sole reason for your rejection.

Re: Would appreciate your advice...

Looking at your response on his talk page, I think you handled it quite well; it's totally appropriate to delete his comments off of your own talk page if you decide to. I don't think the individual is necessarily a vandal, just someone who needs to realize that this isn't a traditional forum where ridiculous behavior might be tolerated. This was actually the first time I've instituted a 1 hour block, I'm almost always on a heavy side of the banhammer --but something about his edit history said there might be a salvageable member. I've put his talk page on my watchlist, so I'll know if he goes crazy again. BTW, I looked at your userpage after reading your response on his talk page and wasn't surprised to see you're a fellow attorney; again, good response. If he bugs you again, don't hesitate to let me know and I can help out. --Bobak (talk) 18:16, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Advice

Hi there. You have recently deleted a page I added on the IT service Management providers page - Touchpaper, as advertising. I have been trying to add it for sometime without much success. I understand that Wikipedia is not a site for free advertisting and I do work for Touchpaper but I feel that Touchpaper should be on the vendor list as it has a 6 process Pink Verify Accreditation and is in the Gartner Magic Quadrant, unlike some of the other vendors listed, and therefore a major player in the industry. I have tried to mimic the content on other pages to avoid it being advertising but that hasn't worked. I have left comments on the talk page but this has not been responded to. Would it be possible to get some advice on how I can go about adding a page which is suitable for Wikipedia? Thank you Sarahannlewis (talk) 19:43, 18 January 2008 (UTC) Thank you for your message, I discovered the advice pages earlier and have since created a page I feel adheres to the guidelines. I hope it meets the required crieria. Thank you for your help Sarahannlewis (talk) 21:36, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Personal attacks

Hello. I didn't make a personal attack. I just copied the text from this website and created an article about that. But I agree with the deletion of this article, this time. It was unnecessary and a failure from me. I feel sorry for that. D@rk talk 21:26, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

I didn't think about my action when I created this article. Well, is there a way to let that admin know that I feel sorry for that? I really don't wanna get in serious trouble. D@rk talk 21:32, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. And I won't do that again, promise. Cheers, D@rk talk 21:37, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

I have removed your prod claiming non notability- real towns and villages are always considered notable. Feel free to nominate for deletion via AfD claiming non existence, Google Maps doesn't seem to have it... J Milburn (talk) 18:35, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

speedy

Speedy A7 for lack of notability can be used only for the limited number of categories included in WP:CSD. the article Intervention inventory does not fall into any of these. DGG (talk) 17:30, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

I think I've been to your talkpage before.. Hmm... if an article -- regardless of WP:COI concerns, regardless of length, readability, formatting, or coherency -- asserts notability similarly to the last one that I removed the speedy tag from, then it cannot be speedied by A7. Anything that asserts notability, regardless of whether it asserts it correctly, is not a speedy. Bring it to AfD. The most recent example is Built NY Inc. While I don't think that it would survive an AfD, it is not a speedy. It claims to have won an award, and therefore deserves to be deleted by consensus. You tagged it within an hour of creation, and creation by a new user at that. Have you read WP:AGF and WP:BITE? I am not an inclusionist, and I think you need to tread slowly on the speedies. Let me know if you feel I'm off base here. Keeper | 76 23:34, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

I am sorry that I am at work and hence don't have the time to write a good article on this medical drug. I was looking it up on the internet and noticed that you didn't have an article about it, hence I thought to start one, with the hope that someone else has time to finish it. It is in MIMS hence I would think that it is a relevant drug to list, but that is not my decision to make. Dyinghappy (talk) 04:08, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Addendum - my mistake - it seems that I wrote it as Digesic by accident. I will redirect, as per Di-Gesic. Dyinghappy (talk) 04:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I'm the author of the article on Krypton Egg and Killerball, and I'm wondering why you are proposing them both to deletion describing them as "Non-notable, unencyclopedic". I know that they are not particularly enriched but they are describing video games which actually exist and should have their place on wikipedia. Furthermore, other articles of the same kind (like impossamole for example) are already displayed on wikipedia and nobody asked for their deletion. HYACKs (MN)

This article consisted of text that I did not write. I created a page on a large group called HYACKs, and another contributor added info about another group by the same name in Minnesota. I removed the text from the body of my article and created a new page for it. I guess the page was way too non-notable and I should have left it in a "Other Groups" portion of my page, but it's extremely annoying that you deleted it within hours of posting a Non-Notability Notice. In fact I was still on the computer not even 2 hours later when I came back and the article had already been deleted. You need to at least give the creator time to either remove it or something. Because of your OCD-like deletion, I now have lost that text and cannot recover it (as it was not my info) to place it back in my article. Don't do it again please. Mullins421 (talk) 21:46, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

You've got the wrong guy here, Mullins421. User:Ukexpat is not an admin and does not have the capability of deleting articles. He simply nominated it. Another user, an admin User:Irishguy deleted the article. It was deleted on the grounds of not asserting notability (in other words, why do you feel it belongs in an encyclopedia?). If you'd like, I repost the information (your work) into your userspace so you can continue to work on it. That isn't a promise that it would ever make it into the mainspace, just a good faith gesture to give you a chance to prevent you from getting frustrated. Let me know if you'd like a copy of the article's contents. I will post this on your talkpage as well. Keeper | 76 21:55, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Removal of Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College entry

I have nothing against a determination that any information on the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College should be included in the entry for Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and thus redirect there. However, I do have a problem with such information being completely wiped in a redirect when the information in the entry exceeds that in the latter's entry. I do not appreciate having to redo the research necessary to document the history of the college. Wiikiwiiki (talk) 12:43, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Adam Hutchison

Just a friendly heads up on Adam Hutchison. I had to remove your speedy request because there is a claim of notability in the article (Young Scientist of the Year award). However, I can't verify this claim, so I've prodded the article.--Fabrictramp (talk) 19:35, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Per your suggestion on the talk page, I changed the article to a redirect to William Andrews. This necessitated removing your prod template, but since you made the redirect suggestion, I assumed you wouldn't mind. --SierraSciSPA (talk) 22:13, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

3) Edit away

HYACKs (MN)

I didn't have a problem with your deletion of the article, because as I said, I was merely moving text that someone else added from my article to it's own article. What I did have a problem with was not discussing it or giving me a chance to re-incorporate the text back into my article. You are not entirely at fault, it was mostly the fault of the admin who deleted it an hour later. No harm done, and sorry for any hurt feelings. Mullins421 (talk) 02:16, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

questions on making Loring page a stub

Hi Ukexpat,

Thank you for checking out my first article on Ray Loring. I am a new user here and trying to learn the ropes.

I have a couple questiones for you:

-I don't know how to make my page a stub

-I know this man and so how do I inform the reader this is taken from personal conversation?

-The links provided are true sources and can be verified.

Thank you for your help!

Arkansas Traveler (boat line)

I've declined the speedy tag you placed on Arkansas Traveler (boat line). The reason I declined it is because the article is about boats, not the company using them, so it's not subject to CSD A7. For your information, עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 06:12, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello

Speedy deletion of Kick!

A tag has been placed on Kick! requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ukexpat (talk) 16:18, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Dave best

I have nominated Dave best, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dave best. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. AfD nomination of Triple, double

An editor has nominated Triple, double, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Triple, double and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 15:59, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

May I most politely suggest to you that you check the timings for new posts, and give at least some time (more than a minute or two would be nice) before nominating them for speedy deletion, and then suggest to the Administrator that they do the same before deleting the entry after you nominate them. I had no opportunity to enter the tag you suggested to dispute the reason, and now must recreate the entire entry from scratch.--Cminard (talk) 18:13, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Moving Titles

Hi, I'm writing to you as I see you helped edit the history of the Bloodstaned Memoirs page to make it better. I tried to change the page to simply Bloodstained Memoirs, as I think this would be a more suitable title, as I'm sure people will more likley search the latter than the former. However when I tried to move the page, I was told that title is locked. Do you know why this is, or how to remove the lock. About ATN Night Vision article speedy deletion

Hi I browsed Wiki about "Night Vision" I finded hi-quality article Night Vision In this article I fined some references to night vision manufacturer company, for example, ITT_Corporation or Raytheon. In list of night vision manufacturers I finded "American Technologies Network Corporation (ATN) USA" but not finded article about this company. To my opinion, ATN is really good manufacturer of night vision devices for not rich people. I want to create the article about this company and its website. Please specify me a correct way for this purpose.

Speedy deletion of Perecman & Fanning

This is my second attempt in trying to add this article. I've even followed how other law firms articles were created. I'm not understanding where I'm not following the guidelines. Could you specify how the article is blatant advertising, rather than send me links to pages on how to edit, I've read them numerous times, edited my article off Wikipedia and got it reviewed by numerous people. I'm fairly new to Wikipedia. (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 20:00, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion SWACHA

Ok, UK ex-pat, I'm new to this. I've tried to remove anything you might have percieved as advertising. I thought the article was pretty straight-forward. Being that there are articles about Automated Clearing Houses and NACHA, I thought it was appropriate to have a regional payments association representated on Wikipedia. Please remove the speedy deletion tag or tell me what else needs to be done. --Gittinsgranado (talk) 20:30, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Notable/COI Chief Oil and Gas

This article is VERY notable. This company is one of the major players in a little thing called the Barnett Shale. One of the largest natural gas fields in the US. This is a billion dollar company.

As for conflict of interest - How can you tell if I do or don't have a conflict of interest? Guess? How do I get this off the page?

I tried to write this article in the exact same format as other similar articles. SeeDevon Energy and Chesapeake Energy. Please let me know if anything else needs to be done to bring this up to Wikipedia standards. Thanks, --Gittinsgranado (talk) 20:55, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Chief Oil and Gas/Swacha

Thank you for the quick response. I'm not trying to hide the fact that these organizations are both clients of mine. Why else would I have used the name of my agency as my user name? Hillary Flowers vs. Kuma Games

Thanks UKexpat!

I had been trying to create a page about her design collective, but it got tagged for deletion, so I thought I'd try making one about her instead.

I understand now that I must follow the bio "rules" and I'll use the sandbox, but I must admit be being a bit down cast at the moment.

Several friends have had their careers helped by Hillary Flowers and one of her patrons Cass Amandrahl. I would like these good people to get some recognition from the objective wikipedia point of view. Obviously this will help their careers as well. I don't know if they are really noteworthy people, but I believe them to be good people trying to make a difference who may become noteworthy.

As I thought about what noteworthy means I thought about nasty people out spreading violence and chasing the mighty dollar and the name Kuma Games came up. When I searched for them in Wikipedia and saw their corporate site, I felt less bad for trying to do Ms. Flowers a good turn.

Under the guidelines of noteability, how does an obvious puff piece like the kuma games page get to exist without someone pointing out that they are owned by the largest cigarette comapny in the world and that they had the power to prevent John Stewart from doing a show about them?

Again, I'm just frustrated at having worked for several hours. I promise to finally make use of The Sandbox.

Thanks again for taking the time to have replied and to read this. I'm doing my best to get across that my motives are pure.

Oh and as it is my pattern when my hand gets slapped I have decided to start a war with Kuma Reality Games and expose them as the warmongering puppets that they are. Just wait till I get the DOD report that shows how much they pay Kuma to make their crap.

Maserati Coupe redirect

I changed the title because it more accurately reflects the subject matter and provides equal treatment for both the coupe and spyder. Actually, the spyder was the first of the vehicles, the coupe came out later. Spyderman1 (talk) 21:40, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

I see your logic, but think of the person looking for info on the Coupé -- they will search for "Maserati Coupé" not for "Maserati Coupé / Spyder". Similarly for the Spyder. In any event at the moment the Maserati Coupé article is not a redirect and it has some discussion on the talk page that will be a little hard to find if it is redirected to the new article. – ukexpat (talk) 21:45, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
I have all versions of Maserati Coupe redirected, with or without the accented é so everyone will get taken there just like they did for Maserati Spyder. I had looked at the discussion page, but the only thing on it of substance was about a mistatement in a prior version that the coupe/spyder was the first Maserati to feature a normally aspirated V8, and this was corrected sometime ago - but no discussion worth maintaining a history of. In any event, perhaps I should have used the "move" function - does that move discussion as well? Spyderman1 (talk) 21:53, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Proffiliates deletion

This is not meant as an advertisement but rather an entry and listing about an important company in the Email Marketing space. This company has been instrumental and well-known in this industry for many years and seems worthy of having an entry in Wikipedias' directory. There do seem to be other companies in this same industry with comparable pages...some may have been tagged for seeming advertorial but are all still up and live. At the least, are there any guidelines you can provide to fix this page so it can remain live? There is no intention to advertise here and thus any and all necessary changes will gladly be made if you can help with some guidance. Cheers. Mkoch38 (talk) 18:34, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Douglas Hill horn

A tag has been placed on Douglas Hill horn requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 19:15, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Kevin McKenzie

Good day, Ukexpat. Thank you for your recent advice regarding appropriate titles for articles. I must tell you that it was I who started the entry: Kevin McKenzie (ballet dancer), and I thought it both succint and sufficient. I could also have titled it: Kevin McKenzie (director) but opted for the former.

After starting this article, I came upon an existing one, that someone else started, titled Kevin McKenzie (ballet dancer/choreographer/artistic director). While this other title certainly describes the man, I too thought it too long but was uncomfortable that I had started my own simple one when this one was already out there, though curously not linked to a single other article. If it had been, I would have discovered it through my ABT article in the first place.

Please change it back to my Kevin McKenzie (ballet dancer) if you wish. I unfortunately do not have time or expertise to do so. Queenofthewilis (talk) 13:13, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Ukexpat...I am currently in the process of writing a user box for all of the colleges that are part of Oxbridge. This template is meant to replace your current college template. Spammy?

This is a free service and nowhere in the article there was a call for action, just trying to describe functionality through plain fact statement. The site put together on $0 budget attracted thousands of members in a matter of year without any advertising effors. As of March, International Crew and Talent members got a chance to join too. Talk to those people and see what they think. I am planning to place links to a few Union member profiles featured on Wikipedia.

Yes, it is not a venture funded enterprise and does step on the toes of the sites trying to offer similar services but for a fee. This is true service to the industry with the highest unemployment rate.

Why delete the article 'art for sale'?

The article does as far as I can determine meet all the requirements that are sited as objections. Firstly, the game ‘Art for Sale’, although it seems to be new has been cited on a few gaming forums. Secondly it can be verified that the game exists by going to the sited reference an downloading the game and must therefore a reliable source. Both the webpage and game should merit the inclusion of the article as the existence can be verified and there should not be any objection. In addition the game can also be found by searching for it on the net.

Chez Paul deletion nomination banner?

Hi,

I was wondering who takes down the "This article is being considered for deletion..." banner at the top of the Chez paul page? Yes, anyone can, I supposed, but I don't tend to edit the "fancy stuff" in wikipedia because I'm such a lowly nube. And I wasn't certain that your withdrawl was enough.

Also, did I screw up the capitalization of the name, i.e. lower-case "p" in Paul? It should be upper case. Is that easy to fix or is there a weird, MS-Word like decapitalizer running that I don't know about? I may have just fat-fingered it initially. Can I (do I have the ability/authorization to) fix it? Thanks Will Hughes (talk) 20:57, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hey, former-UK-person, just wanted to say thanks for putting so much time into Wikipedia. It's obvious from your user page that you're one of the senior, veteran people that have made Wikipedia great. Hope you hear this enough! Will Hughes (talk) 21:35, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

How do you do that? Give up the mojo!

Expat,

Where do you get all these cool tools for your user-page? Like the widget at the top of your page that says "Leave me a message?" It's a 'messagebar' ? Is that something you created and haven't generified for the public? How about your status bar? I see other people doing it but no info on any of the general help pages. Is there a list somewhere of publicly available widgets? I think I found the template you started with under Template:New message but can't seem to modify it to work for me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Whughes98144 (talkcontribs) 22:34, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the pointers!

UKExpat, you can do advanced Latin and Greek, went to Oxford and you're a lawyer? As we say in the States .... DUUUUUUDE! (And I'm not even Californian.) And a grammarian! Love it. Thanks much for the pointers to the higher-tech stuff. I did eventually find the page on templates and figured out the message entry but for a senior software engineer with a physics background it took me a while. That's a generic problem with wikis: great for data entry, horrid for organization. Wikipedia does well because so many people keep watch, but still. Somewhere between the search and the table-of-contents is a big gap in the how-to documentation.

What part of this great nation did you end up in? Daniel Hunt

Hi

Yes I have listed Daniel Hunt on the site as he a director/actor that I have worked with on a number of occasions. his main area is theatre but he also works as a director and playwright. Sorry if you feel that his credits may not be worthy. Just thought that it might be a handy additional reference to website. My poinr of reference is lifted from some programmes of shows that he appeared in the West End. Best wishes

Frobenius solution to the hypergeometric equation

I'm puzzled about why you added a proposed deletion tag to Frobenius solution to the hypergeometric equation. The article clearly neglected Wikipedia's usual conventions and needed a lot of work (and still does, although it's on its way). But that's not a reason to delete the article; that's a reason to improve it. Michael Hardy (talk) 22:19, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

early afd

are you aware you nominated Patient and Mortuary Neglect for deletion just 17 minutes after the article was started, while it was clear from the outline on the page that it was still being worked on and that there was a place for references. I want to give you a chance to withdraw your afd for now; if the article stays as it is, that of course is another matter. DGG (talk) 22:28, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

You're fortunate...mine was deleted less than 1 minute after I had submitted it.--Cminard (talk) 23:24, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Wasn't my article, I'm just a friendly admin trying to remind a fellow admin of a possible oversight. Cminard, if you have a published 3rd party source, feel free to rewrite it. It shouldn'tstrictly speaking be necessary, but it does help to put a little more than one sentence in on the first edit. DGG (talk) 23:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, DGG, I shall do so. It was a full-fledged stub, and although the message on my talk page said I could put in a tag to ask for consideration to avoid speedy deletion, I was not even given the time to put in the tag to request that it stay.--Cminard (talk) 18:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Reply concerning the article about "Sebastin Champappilly"

In the article titled "Sebastian Champappilly" you had send a reply suggesting the only those authors can be featured who are "Famous" and that Dr. sebastian champappilly was insignificant. I would just like to say that Dr. Sebastian Champappilly is an authority on Christian Law in India, this has been judicially recogonized in various reported judgements of the High Court of Kerala.Furthermore Dr.Sebastian Champappilly is the First Indian to secure a Doctorate in Christian Personal Law. I have also made appropriate changes to the artilce like add external links and a few Internal links. HolyFist (talk) 10:46, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

I have declined the speedy deletion request on Scott Larned. As a member of a group that is generally considered notable, Mr. Larned is also notable. - Philippe | Talk 21:19, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Ay, there's the rub. In the past, I've come across folks who vigorously argue both sides of that debate. I tend to take a more "middle of the line" road on it. I've seen policy bounce back and forth a little back on that, and my general gut instinct is to - like with with AfDs - default to "keeping" the article unless there's a strong reason not to. In this case, it's a pretty notable band, and he's a pretty large part of it, so I'm erring toward the side of "keep".
It's important to point out, though, that my leaning to "keep" on Speedy Delete doesn't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things: it just means that in this case I don't believe it's a sufficiently blatant violation of notability policies to delete it immediately. I don't think it's doing immediate damage to the encyclopedia. If it were to go to AfD, and I saw that the consensus there was to delete, I'd hit the button with a great deal of certainty. I just don't think it necessary to hit it with a speedy delete. - Philippe | Talk 22:10, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

speedy delete on hancock prospecting. please provide your reasons a bit better than that. long experienced editor (check my details) something else - or are you geographically challenged - tis the richest company in australia - hope you have a sense of humour - you must be on the same sutff that i am on :| SatuSuro 13:44, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

A friendly note - try something other than oggle, and try the company and see its relevance - and then even try clusty - and see who it is linked to. thats about csd 7 as george bush in australian terms - cheers SatuSuro 13:47, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

OK - so you are in perhaps the most invidiuous situation where we revert your messages and I havent in fact in the stub sufficiently asserted the notability and i note you send a mesage to my friend first. I will endeavour to add a few comments - notability of a company such as this one is common knolwedge and i must apologise if i take on the australian brashness at such ignorance of the commonplace here in australia as to os'ers limited understanding. I understood that the whole thing of csd 7 is for where a new user or a limited experience editor - surely a simple talk page item that was less oficious could have sufficed? it certainly would have generated a more pleasant tone on my part - :) SatuSuro 14:01, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

OK so you have a problem with notability - I would check an ed out before looking at the article - does it look like im a one hit wonder? ok patience brother SatuSuro 14:02, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough - if you work that way I wish you well - I personally from my expeieence would never venture into speedy delete with any article that i saw a project tag, category, applied - regardless of what else - specially in the first half hour of being created - this all smells of legalistic readings of how it works - if you wish to do so - fair enough you have every right to do it that way - I work differently and I think we should respect that we all make mistakes - I never would have thought that notability should be challenged so quickly when it was clear i was still editing - I think that in the australian project we sometimes wait days for that to eventuate. As for the other editor - he clearly knows - from the other side of australia - that just the hancock family mention is sufficient proof of notability - maybe not in fine details for out of australia editors - but for australian based editors - just mention of the father and daughter spells billions SatuSuro 14:19, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to aggravate mate - me late mum came from alderley edge and i think i have a sense of where you are coming from with seeing the stub - but hey - i sometimes wait months for responses to issues in the indonesian and tamsanian wikiprojects - the speed sort of gets me saying the wrong things sometimes - hey thanks for cleaning up my mess - and hey I owe you one sometime - the mining companies of western australia are very under-articled by the way - billions literally worth to their owners and the state -and we local editors cant even get a good range of articles up about them - cheers SatuSuro 14:30, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

wee cross messaged again - hey thanks again - ill try to less aggravate if there is a next time :) - and yes sometimes notability is not that obvious first off SatuSuro 14:32, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

I must say I am very proud of fellow australian editors and their cricket work - my 17 year old used to be heavily into playing soccer but he's got into computer games a bit too much recently - but I always livve in hope that he will get back to it - hey cheers from a cold western australia (for a change) until next time :) SatuSuro 14:37, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Actually, as of the time I saw the article, you were right, and I should have allowed the speedy -- but the article author is now asserting in the AFD discussion that Heether was named to a minor-league all-star team. Re: Sesquipedaliophobia

Point taken. Though, I am currently looking for third party psychological resources on sesquipedaliophobia - they're just a royal bitch to find.

Lord knows there is an abundance of web fizzle about hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia, but that isn't actually the medical term (and frankly, most of what people have to say about it is absolute bullshit).

Feel free to help me look for something. If you want.

Otherwise, I can't argue with your reasoning - it does just look like a definition... But I'm trying.

Ba-Ba-Bankrobbery

I was a little disappointed when you nominated this article for deletion. It has only been put here because I felt it was a little messy in the main Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung article and was better off in it's own one. It is a non-notable single however the information is there for whoever wants to read it. This article explains a little as to why it was a non-notable singel as well. --Cexycy (talk) 14:26, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Ia there anyway you can reconsider this and what can I do to argue to my case?

Ba-Ba-Bankrobbery

Have you read my arguement for keeping this article? I really do not see how the chart position of a song makes it non-notable. Some bands like Led Zeppelin did not release singles at all. --Cexycy (talk) 14:57, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

re:Enigma Titanium Limited

Speedy deletion is for non-controversial deletion of articles which almost anyone would agree needs to be deleted. When I said that "Other [similar] stuff exist" I only meant to say that this seems to be an area that many seem to think is notable, and is therefore not speediable. In general, if I can imagine a good faith editor who is aware of the relevant policies recommending to keep in an AFD I am very hesitant to speedy. While I have no opinion on whether it is notable or not, the fact that there are many other similar articles implies to me that there needs to be a wider community discussion on the topic. This does not directly relate to the A7 criteria (notability), but rather to an overall view of how speedy deletion should work. Also, I am not saying that "other stuff exists" is a reason to keep in a AFD, but I would say that it is a strong reason not to speedy.

In regards to the question of notability, I think that A7 is perhaps the hardest to decide when it does and doesn't fit (with perhaps G11 a close second) . While article like "Bob is great; he can fly" should obviously be deleted, "Bob is a famous pilot" is not as clear cut. In my view there has to a point where an article should be nominated for deletion in an AFD for lacking notability, yet still not be speedable. It is unimaginable that there would be no community discussion on the topic of notability, and articles are either speedied or kept.

I hope this explains my actions, if you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask. Jon513 (talk) 00:27, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi there!

Hi there! I've recently added the article S Club for FAC, however, I have a conflicting LOCE request from way back in January that seems to be getting no where. I was just wondering if it would be possible for you to look through the article for me and copyedit it? It'd be really appriciated if you could. Thanks - ǀ Mikay ǀ 18:48, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

That would be fantastic. I'm away for a few days this week anyway, so will probably only be able to get onto Wiki a couple of times. So that's ideal. :) Thanks so much. - ǀ Mikay ǀ 19:44, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

The reason that I prodded instead of redirecting is that I thought that "Tibet Region" sounded like an odd thing that someone would type if he or she was looking for Tibet instead. You can still redirect it to Tibet if you want. There is no hard in having it as a redirect. Captain panda 01:31, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Covington's Customs

I do not work for this covingtons, i am just a fan of their work. They are a motorcycle manufacturer, so they should be listed in the motorcycle manufacturer section. The owner is jerry covington who was featured on the biker build off on the discovery channel.

I can not see why this is being deleted. and others like this one for example are not: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ridley_Motorcycle_Company —Preceding unsigned comment added by Random667 (talkcontribs) 18:06, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

  • I had seen the discussion over the last few days, filed it over at AIV and it was suggested that I do a sockpuppet report, which I tried to do. The formatting is nearly impossible to comprehend, but I did my best. My page should be at the top of the list, but it isn't showing up on the index. Man, am I glad you're here! --PMDrive1061 (talk) 14:56, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Good idea. I had that on my old user account and it worked great. In the meantime, this is getting really ugly over at the talk page and I can't stay online much longer. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 15:02, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I saw that; thanks again. I've tried extending something of an olive branch to the guy. His mistakes involved his choice of username and the block-evading socks. Ironic, since a username block can be so easily lifted. Gotta run, but I'll tune in later on. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 15:33, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

I removed the speedy tag on this article, since the article does make a claim to notability (ie, head coach of a team in the Finnish pro ice hockey league.) I don't know much about hockey, though, so I wouldn't stop you from taking it to AFD. Zagalejo^^^ 19:13, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

The Covington's Customs article, even though it is only a redirect, should be moved to Covington's Cycle City Otherwise the Covington's Customs article should be removed completely as that is an inaccurate title. The official name of their shop is "Covington's Cycle City" not "Covington's Customs".

Also, Covington's Cycle City is a recognized manufacturer in the USA and should be listed as such. They are listed in the NADA under "Covingtons Cycle City": http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-23-38-5692-0-0-0&l=1&w=23&p=38&f=5694&gc=MC&gtc=MC&m=0072&y=2008&ml=C And in the kelly Blue Book under "Covington": http://www.kbb.com/KBB/Motorcycles/Retail_2007_Covington.aspx 76.205.186.30 (talk) 21:57, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Do you have a take on expected future events like this concert-ival? I tried to redirect but the new user was adamant, siting other similar articles. Do you know where there is a consensus? - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 15:45, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

As with IRL mops, it does get sloppy at times. The comment about deleting all iterations of a user page is something I've never seen before. How does one handle this? - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 16:21, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh, him. Not worth dragging through the mud, as he seems to have sulked away. Also, I'm not actually offended by sod. When I have enough money to buy a house, I intend to redo my lawn with it. (If you're British, does that sound vulgar?) - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:00, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
It's kind of like someone calling me a cracker. Being Yankee born and bred, my response is, "Um, okay." Similarly, I don't mind discussions of bloody messes found at crime scenes, though I'd have to be careful with my much more proper British friends, describing something I saw on CSI as a "blood-covered mess". :-) - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:16, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

I would prefer it if you did not have my contribution page on your watchlist. You have a pattern of making changes on new pages I create, and it's creepy. Some of the changes you make are good, and I appreciate it. Nevertheless. And in the case of Guth v. Loft I think politics really is quite relevant to what goes in the law. And therefore if judges are affiliated to a party it's important, because it shapes their approach. So, mate, his dad is important, and I'm putting it back. Wikidea 18:51, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

The edits that the original creator of the article keeps trying to make are largely complete rubbish that add little to the article. But I did check when this came up on RC patrol and the drink does appear to have some notability. I am trying to keep the rubbish clear of the article for long enough for it to survive RC patrol. Feel free to take it to AfD if you disagree. -- Roleplayer (talk) 20:53, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Revision3 and its podcasts

Hi. I saw that you put db-web on some of the Revision3 podcast articles which I had tagged as unreferenced. I had considered doing that myself but I was daunted by the scale of the whole Revision3 edifice (complete with template) on Wikipedia and I didn't want to chip away at it. On reflection, my thought is that it looks like a walled garden of non-notable articles of the type decried in WP:CB. Only the main article looks likely to be justifiable. What do you think? Is there a case for killing the whole lot off? If so, how should it be done. Is it fair to put db-web on each article or does it need to go to a grand, multi-article, AfD? --DanielRigal (talk) 13:48, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion tagging

Hello Ukexpat. Please be careful not to bite newcomers by being overly aggressive in tagging articles for speedy deletion. Your recent tagging of this version of the Zero Visibility Corps is the surest way to drive off newcomers and anger veterans. Clearly, the article did claim some notability: a 12-year old dance company with annual shows and plenty of Google references if you bother to check. A quick look at the author's contribs shows a strong interest and expertise in contemporary dance. Please consider doing routine checks like these before tagging articles. I understand the concerns of the Wiki-management team, and respect the integrity they are trying to maintain of this resource. I am new at this, and I will do my home work before publishing on wikipedia. I was under the impression that I could begin an article and complete it later. I have learnt otherwise since I have learnt differently since reading the guidelines for writing articles.
