John Travolta

[edit]

Good work on the John Travolta article! Welcome to WP!--Lwieise -=- Talk to Me 03:49, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Superb job of changing that article from a laughable mess. Now it's mostly an article about someone who probably doesn't merit an article at all -- it's really yet another of Ludvikus' articles about the history of the Protocols, and someday we'll figure out a way to collate his obviously extensive research into something more suited to Wikipedia.

Keith Olbermann

[edit]

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your cleanup on Keith Olbermann. Nice job. I'm sure someone will yell at you for the lack of edit summaries, but it won't be me. --BigScaryMike (Talk/Contrib) 03:22, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eric Clapton article

[edit]

Hi, it's nice to see someone even more liberal than I! I have a blog @ http://leftwingwiil.tumblr.com/ BUT more importantly, I noticed you did recent edit(s) to Eric Clapton. This article was demoted from being a Featured Article. I just wanted your opinion. I noticed you did not have an e-mail button as other Wikipedia editors do. if you want to answer the questions below, you can click onto V Schauf (talk) 19:19, 2 May 2012 (UTC) and press the "talk" link next to it. I want to make the Clapton article a Featured Article again. Do you think that this article deserved to be demoted? What would improve this article? Have you read Clapton's autobiography? I wanted to write to you and others who recently edited the Clapton article. Thanks for your time.V Schauf (talk) 19:19, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good cleanup

Good job on cleaning up Politics of Bill O'Reilly. Some of the editors have a less-than-pristine grasp of formal diction and tone; I've been meaning to work on it but have been without net access for a hot minute. Thanks! /Blaxthos ( t / c ) 20:37, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey -- thanks for your excellent edits on the plot summary of The Island (2005 film). Also, just to let you know, I restored the detailed plot -- and then removed the fluffy OR stuff. Also, in the closing scene of the film, I don't recall seeing an island. Anyway, let's pick it up on the corresponding talk page. Thanks once again, --Otheus (talk) 22:50, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article has been restored to an earlier version as your edits did not make sense and were not based on research, rather on stylistic conventions. FWiW Bzuk (talk) 12:05, 2 July 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Please excuse the rant, as I was too precipitous in dismissing your contributions, casting them aside since they were not accompanied by references. You are entirely right that there are errors in writing conventions that have to be addressed, and with that in mind, I am doing a thorough review of your edits and will restore them as appropriate. My only disclaimer is that this article since I started on it three years ago has been the scene of many edit conflicts, typically over content as few editors were preoccupied with style or writing issues. Thank you for your efforts to improve the article. One larger section of text that mysteriously has lost its source was, nonetheless restored to an earlier version. Fairey's been on my watchlist for years, but I never could get myself to sit down and give it the go-over it needed (even more so after he got big with the Obama series and the article really exploded). I saw what you did and it was as good or better than what I could've done, therefore I feel justified in awarding this:

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:31, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your extensive improvements to the encyclopedia. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Buster7 submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I am proud to nominate Treybien to be Editor of the Week. He is an editor with over 100K edits which is quite an accomplishment and certainly deserving of acknowledgement. More notable, however, is the fact that 99% of those edits are to main articles space. That leaves a scant 1% for everything else. This is an editor that spends his time, hard at work, improving the encyclopedia...using his language skills to make things better, more understandable. Compliments on his talk page speak to his ability to improve articles without creating mayhem, strife or discord. "You greatly improved the article", "It's so much better now", "...the attention it needed", "You improved it alot", and many more.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

  • One of the benefits of facilitating the Eddy award is that I get to search out and meet quality editors like yourself. Many veteran editors waste quality time at the various drama-laden pages of Wikipedia. They rarely see the hard working editors that fly under the radar and they begin to mistake WP as one argument after another. Editors like you are the heartbeat of Wikipedia. Thanks for all you do. New Page Reviewing

[edit]
Hello, Treybien.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Help with the National Memo article

[edit]

Dear Mike, I noticed that back in 2011 you edited Joe Conason article so I assume that you know the field. I kindly ask you to take a look at the The National Memo article. It has been undergoing dramatic edits and I ask for your assistance in editing/improving the article.

I while ago I was asked to make several minor edits to the article as paid editor. At that time the article had minimal content and was no more than a stub. I’ve added some information following the structure of such articles as Salon (website), HuffPost, Politico adding infobox, improving categories and adding some well-referenced info. The article started to look like a normal website/media article. After that it got heavily edited in two waves by editors deleting large chunks of well-written (ok, my personal view :)) and well-referenced information. I believe that some of these edits/deletions are extraneous and actually make the article worse/less useful to Wikipedia users. I also believe that The National Memo article has an undisputable notability. There is an interesting discussion about this at the article’s Talk page.

A lot of what is going all around this article is plain nonsense. So if you are interested in the subject / in improving the article, please take a look at January 10th version or January 29th version. Also if you have any suggestions on improving the article, please share. Thank you in advance. -- Bbarmadillo (talk) 15:29, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jared Fogle article

[edit]

Hi! I know it was a long time ago... I found a slight error in fact in this edit.

Fogle was not arrested at the time, nor was he charged yet: "Fogle was not arrested or charged with any crimes, but the now-former Subway spokesman's house was searched two months after Russell Thomas, former executive director of the Jared Foundation, was arrested on charges related to child pornography."

AFAIK Fogle was never taken into custody until the day he formally pleaded guilty in court and was sentenced. (he also had not yet been prosecuted) WhisperToMe (talk) 10:56, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Keith Ellison

[edit]

You should probably join the discussion at talk:Keith Ellison. The editors there are not aware that you reinserted the material that they find questionable. Since they have a 3-1 majority, they are not even bothering to respond to the issues that I raise. You can see how they are so agenda driven, that in this revert they overwrote minor template errors fixed by an uninvolved editor. If you join the discussion, they will be forced to discuss the issues. BarbadosKen (talk) 18:03, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that your contribution into the talk page was in the wrong section. The section where you wrote was active when those same editors refused to allow any mention of the incident. They have since softened a little bit, and are now trying to suppress the controversy about the existence of the video. BarbadosKen (talk) 22:28, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Linking within quotes

[edit]

Treybien, regarding this and this, the reason I avoided linking within quotes is per what the "Linking" section of WP:MOSQUOTE advises. That stated, the wording there used to be stricter. It was softened following the RfC now seen at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Linking/Archive 19#RfC about linking in quotations. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know why I hadn't linked the terms you did. There's also the fact that people usually know what homosexuality, heterosexuality and bisexuality mean (although there are bisexual definition aspects that readers might be interested in learning about). Copying licensed material requires attribution

[edit]

Hi. I see in a recent addition to Nicky Nichols you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 13:39, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:32, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
