Wilhelm Zahn DYK
Hi Tony. Sorry for disturbing you but I saw your username on Henrik's talkpage helping another user so I thought I could ask you. I noticed that the pageviews for the Wilhelm Zahn DYK were zero for 31 December: [1]. Yet other pages register the stats for 31 December. However I checked a few users' talkpages including my talkpage and they show zero hits for 31 December. Is there some short of glitch going on? Thank you and Happy New year! Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 01:58, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Hi Tony. Sorry for the trouble, but I saw your comment on Henrik's page and I know he has not responded yet. I just wanted to ask you if this data loss is reversible by Henrik, in which case I can wait, no problem, or if I have to manually check the stats files. For the latter I may have to ask at the VP. Thank you again. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 00:51, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Now, add to the above, 2 January with zero stats: Ole Fahlin and there are more articles with zero stats for today. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 01:22, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
I just saw the thread you opened at VP. I guess let's wait and see. Thank you again Tony. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 03:04, 3 January 2014 (UTC)

DYK for Selina Meyer
On 1 January 2014, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Selina Meyer, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that when Julia Louis-Dreyfus (pictured) won an Emmy for playing Selina Meyer, she became the first actress to win Primetime Emmy Awards for three different regular cast roles? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Selina Meyer. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Re Freedom of Speech painting
Hi Tony, Happy New Year!
Sorry to say, I couldn’t come up with much more on this. The WP article’s already using most of the substantive discussions out there – yes, it’s mentioned in passing, one or two sentences, in many many sources, but I agree that there isn’t much extra information in them. Here are some lesser ones.
- Here is a page or so from a book [2] (the link goes to page 97, the F. of S. discussion actually starts on page 98).
- Here is a rather odd article, by a professor of theology at Princeton, that discusses Rockwell’s Adam’s apple and his depiction of an Adam’s apple in F. of S. [3] It’s not free access tho, apart from the abstract. There is some sort of academic-journal-article-access-request WP page, isn’t there? Way off the beaten track, I’d like to read about it :)
- Another paywalled article, which I’m not sure even talks about this particular painting. The NYT published five Rockwell do-overs in the aftermath of September 11. [4]
- Short mention by John Updike here [5]
- It seems Thomas Kinkade created some 9-11 inspired versions of the Four Freedoms. A very brief mention of a derivation from F of S here [6].
- Another brief book mention contrasting town hall meetings, Rockwells’s “idealized” vs. a 2009 photo of one. [7] A Gbook search of rockwell "freedom of speech" town hall meeting brings up a lot of other short mentions.
- There’s been a lot of talk about the D. Solomon book, some of it quite critical. The Rockwell family issued a statement about it, published in the Huffington Post, which includes the sentences “But sex is a major theme of the book and her phantom theories color and distort everything, including Rockwell's entire character and her interpretations of his art. There is no way to separate her sexual theories from the rest of the book. Her take on "Freedom of Speech" is that the man standing is "unattached and sexually available. Unbuttoned and unzipped." [8]. Don’t know if you want to go there.
Best wishes, Novickas (talk) 16:11, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Question
You are familiar with Norman Rockwell's work, according to a book I have Philly (dog) is the subject of one of the Wartime Illustrations, but I am not positive. The one which comes to mind is "Home at Last" from September 15, 1945 for the similarity, but Philly was dead for 13 years. It is really vague, so I was wondering if the dog rang any bells in your research. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 05:48, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
- I have 6 Rockwell books checked out from the Chicago Public Library. None of them has "Home at Last" or Philly in its index at the end of the book. The only title beginning with home is a bunch of works beginning with the title "Homecoming" or "Home-coming". Only one of these has a dog in it. And the dog is hardly the subject. It has a soldier returning home and being recognized as he approaches the front porch by his family and a dog who all rush out to greet him.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 15:27, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

If I pick out one article, would you mind giving me your honest opinion of what I should to go "Good"? CaroleHenson (talk) 03:16, 15 January 2014 (UTC) |
- I'd like to take back this offer if I might. You've got two great articles, good luck with them. I am unwatching.--CaroleHenson (talk) 05:37, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Chicago Options Associates
Hi there, TonyTheTiger, I could use your Chicago expertise!
I recently created the article, Chicago Options Associates.
It's certainly notable for multiple reasons (including, of course, significant secondary source coverage) -- but I was wondering if you could help figure out other pages that would be helpful to have as incoming links to the page so it's not at risk of being an "orphan" ?
Thank you for your time,

WikiProject Good Articles December 2013 Backlog Drive
Hi everyone, I've noticed that a few of you haven't updated your totals as several reviews have passed but on the backlog page, it still says that the article is under review or on hold.
Please update your totals and continue to do so until February 1. If the status of a review is under review or on hold according to the backlog page, even though the article may have passed/failed, it will not count towards your final total.
For those that made pledges during the drive, the final donation amount will be determined sometime in February.
Thank-you.Sent by Dom497 using MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:17, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

House of Cards (season 2)
Hi Tony,
I modified the content a bit cause it is a spoiler for the viewers who did not yet watch the first season of HOC. I hope you agree on that. I suggest either moving it lower and marking as a spoiler or just deleting it from the synopsis. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.233.240.194 (talk) 01:23, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @85.233.240.194: Per WP:SPOILER, Wikipedia does not use spoiler warnings. If readers come to Wikipedia they have to accept we can't wait for them to catch up on the season. Chris Troutman (talk) 02:51, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I have recently nominated 2007 Appalachian State vs. Michigan football game for featured article for a third time. Chopin template
Do you think you could create a template that would combine Category:Chopin templates into one template we could use in the article on Chopin, similar to the pl:Szablon:Chopin? It's too complex for my template-fu. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 16:12, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Great work on Four Freedoms! Ideas on Fourth Amendment?
Firstly, wow-- I don't know if I've ever seen a userpage with so many stars and green pluses and other hard-earned evidence of major contributions to the project. Good work!
Secondly, I initially came here to congratulate you on all the good work you've done on the Four Freedoms-- it's a great article, I read it "cover to cover" and really enjoyed it. Great WP gem!
Lastly, we've recently nominated Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution at FAC. Experienced users said it was ready for consideration there, so I nominated it, but I myself am very new to the this area of our project. So any advice or help from a veteran like you would be much appreciated in trying to get an article polished and worthy of the title of FA! --HectorMoffet (talk) 12:09, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
