BALLARAT RED DEVILS
Thanks again. I had some real trouble finding basic colour codes for the football kits but got there in the end. Is there a page on just colours not kit designs??
I want to change the soccer ball logo to the club logo. How do i do this??
Also someone has included 3 comments at the top of the page;
1.The tone or style. I HAVE WRITTEN THE PAGE AS A GENERAL INFOMATION.
2.A fansite. AGAIN I HAVE READ PLENTY OF PAGES IN THE PAST AND ESPECIALLY OVER THE LAST WEEK AND THIS IS NOT A FANSITE IT IS ATRUE HISTORY OF THE CLUB. MANY OTHER SITES MENTION, SPONSORS,"THE BEST FANS IN THE LEAGUE","GREAT PLAYERS WE HAVE", I HAVE DONE NONE OF THIS.
3.A conflict of intrest. AND AGAIN THIS IS COMPLETLY WRONG AS THIS IS THE CLUB AND IT'S HISTORY
Can you please help me to understand what i am to do regarding these matters. Please can you read the SANDBOX. I think it is ready to be a PROPER page now.
Thnaks again

- It looks like you're almost there. I believe the reason for the fansite tag is because of the some of the words that you have used. Remember, all articles have to be written neutrally, so words like "brilliant" and "astonishing" should probably be removed. As for the other two tags, I suggest you ask the editor who added them, Orangemike. Your article is improving and I think the thing that would push it over the top are some third-party references. Newspaper coverage, magazine interviews, and other such items are a good way to start. Finally, please remember that typing in ALL CAPS makes your messages hard to read and makes people think you are yelling. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 14:54, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Yellow Dog Linux Powerstation
Good evening, Thanks for putting my article on hold (again) for lack of "reliable, third-party sources". The last time you did so, I doubled the number of sources (including links to a respected industry consortium - power.org), but another kind reviewer declined it anyway (edit: typo203.145.134.210 (talk) 20:41, 21 January 2009 (UTC)) as part of his record breaking clearup of backlog AfCs. So please note that this time the article has many sources, and do the needful. Thanks!203.145.134.210 (talk) 20:37, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
diff
Hi Tnxman307, I guess first I should introduce myself... Hi, I'm Ched. I was taking a break, and just clicking links and came across your page. I clicked on the "diff" link you had there (about the sagging pants) - and I laughed so hard - for so long - I had tears in my eyes. Thanks soooo much for that - I needed it. By the way ... I'm one of those old farts that goes along with the "pull up your damn pants" ... Sorry for the off-wiki type post, but hey, I guess we can use talk pages a little for minor chit-chat. Take Care Ched (talk) 04:44, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
- No problem! I came across that and laughed out loud . . . at work. Which caused some odd looks. I'm glad you enjoyed it too. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 12:54, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
BALLARAT RED DEVILS
Could you please answer the below 2 questions as well.
I had some real trouble finding basic colour codes for the football kits but got there in the end. Is there a page on just colours not kit designs??
I want to change the soccer ball logo to the club logo. How do i do this??
Thanks
DuncanRduncansmith (talk) 09:44, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
- To change the colors of the uniforms, you need to change the hex codes for the colors currently listed in the infobox. For example, the shorts color for kit1 is listed as FFFFFF, which is black. To change the color, you'll need to enter a different code. As for the soccer ball image, that is also listed in the infobox. The image parameter currently lists image:soccerball.svg. To put in a different image, you'll need to change the name. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 15:58, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Uploading a New Article
I want to contribute a living person's biography to Wikipedia. It's already typed and formatted (in a Word document, not in Wikipedia). It meets all the requirements and I've read all the do's and don'ts, and references are included in the article as well, so it's ready to go. How do I upload the article to Wikipedia?Terri Fernandez (talk) 00:11, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, first type in the name of the person in the search bar on the left. If it doesn't take you to an article, then you can create an article at Some Person (for example). If there is already an article by that name, however, you'll have to name your article Some Person (author) (or some other modifier). There are a lot more tips in this guide also. Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 00:25, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
BALLARAT RED DEVILS
Mate thanks again for your help. A pity some were not as helpfull as you are. I found the colour codes page thanks, but i can not understand how to change the logo to our club logo. I have tyied to copy and then paste the logo in to the infobox but it will not copy. I have tried to write the jpg code but it will not work. I'm sure that you can and will show me a very simple way.
Thanks
DuncanRduncansmith (talk) 01:29, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- In order to get the image on to Wikipedia, you must first upload to the site. The guide for this can be found at WP:UPLOAD. Images (at least to me) are some of toughest things with which to deal on this site. Each image that is uploaded must either be free- or fair-use. Again, the guide I mentioned should have more. Once the image is uploaded, you must simply put the file name for the image in the infobox. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 20:03, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Biography
The biography I want to contribute to Wikipedia is ready to go. I did a search, and there is no entry for this person. He is an published author, a physicist, a person from Poland. The article meets all the Wikipedia guidelines. I would like to upload the article from my computer so I don't have to type it again into Wikipedia. How or where do I upload articles from my computer to Wikipedia?Terri Fernandez (talk) 19:55, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- Great! When you did the search for the person's name, you should have come across a screen that says something like "This page does not exist. To create this page click (some red link)". Click on the red link and copy/paste from your Word document to the page. Click save. You're done! Let me know if you run into any issues with the process. TN‑X-Man 20:13, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Sorry about that

More BALLARAT RED DEVILS
Can you in plain english please tell me how to add a logo to a page. I have added the logo to a File:Logo-1-.gif page but how do i now move it to the proper page to include it in the football info box section.

- OK, here's what I did. It looks like the image you want is somehow marked for deletion. I saved a copy of the picture, uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons here, and added it to your sandbox. You should be able to see it there. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 21:18, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
BALLARAT RED DEVILS
BRILLIANT (and yes i am shouting this time). I don't know how you did it but thanks very much. Looks great. Do you think it is now ready to be a proper page now!!
Really thanks again for all your help and i thinks it's all done.
Regards

- It's no problem. Well, I looked it over and did a little clean up. It looked good to go, so you can now find your article at Ballarat Red Devils. Congratulations! Let me be the first to say: Stick around! There are plenty of articles out there to edit and plenty that need attention. I think there's even a project where people who like Australian football come together to work to improve articles. Check it out here. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 03:11, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
Ballarat Red Devils
Again a big thank you. You have been just fantastic. I had a quick look at the site that you mentioned and will keep an eye on it to see if i can help any.
Well done and keep up the great work.

- No problem. Hope to see you around! TN‑X-Man 12:45, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
A comment
Pertaining to your having asked MBisanz about an RfA nom... can I just say that you have a hideously bloated signature? Eschewing minimalism is one thing, but this is just grotesque. DS (talk) 16:42, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm. Well, you're the first person to have mentioned anything since I started using it five months ago. I guess I can tone the X some, but I like the rest of it. Thanks for bringing it up. TN‑X-Man 17:02, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
question about new page
I was wondering if you could be more specific about your concerns. I read about how to write new articles and thought what I wrote about Health Management Resources was neutral and very well referenced. Can you comment on that or give me more specific feedback?Weightdoc (talk) 19:34, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- It is well referenced, but it still seems to be promoting a product. Remember, articles should be written like an encyclopedia entry, not a press release or promo. I think what it comes down to is this: if you strip away all of the material and references that do not directly deal with HMR, would it still be a neutral, well-referenced article? If there is an article about HMR, the core material about it cannot be promotional. I hope this helps. TN‑X-Man 20:15, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the help sorting this one out. Just an FYI -- {{Lifetime}} (if completed properly) includes a defaultsort, so you don't need {{DEFAULTSORT}} as well. – ukexpat (talk) 23:08, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Huh. I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up. I've put in an infobox too and the article appears to be on its way. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 23:11, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Felidae Conservation Fund Edits and Decline
I am wondering specifically what is wrong with the article: it gives a history and it is not an advertisement and has legitimate sources from magazines, although the site is listed as an external source. What parts? How can it be changed?
- I declined this submission because the article reads like an advertisement. Remember, all articles on Wikipedia must be written from a neutral point of view and cannot promote any organization. Also, remember that any claims within the article must be supported by independent reliable sources. TN‑X-Man 05:47, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Understanding Concerns on Haitian Health Foundation
Please be more specific about concerns. For the structure, I looked at American Red Cross Wikipedia entry (segmenting the entry by the major areas of services provided, and the programs under each major area of service). I'm still working on it. But could you please be more specific? I'm removing the two taglines of the organization, but not sure if those are a problem. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chartsfo (talk • contribs) 00:09, 31 January 2009 (UTC) Chartsfo (talk) 00:27, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, it looks like you're making a good start. I'm going to remove the neutrality tag, as those issues have been addressed. However, I still get an advertise-y sense from the article. Don't misunderstand me, it's not anything overt, it's just a sense of . . . well . . . brochure-dom? I can't really put my finger on it. One good thing to do is include more coverage from independent reliable sources. I'm sorry I couldn't be more specific, but I'd be happy to help you out with any issues you may run across. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 05:41, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
OK... thanks. We're working on getting some references to newspaper articles, etc., that are available online, too. But I appreciate your perceptions and I hope we've made a good start in responding to your comments. Thanks. 71.139.50.13 (talk) 16:15, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Felidae Conservation Fund Edits/Decline continued
The fact is is that it isn't an advertisement: There is no "Support Us" or anything like that. Cheetah Conservation Fund has a similar page, so the declination I really can't agree with. The article states the Mission, the History/how was founded, the projects involved in, and external sources which included legitimate outside magazine articles.
An advertisement encourages people to directly support. This does NOT do that. I have to disagree with your declination of the article.
I would like you to cite something specific that sounds like an advertisement, because I do not see where you are talking about.
- I think where we disagree is the idea of advertising. When I read the article, it reads to me like it was copied directly from a press release or official website. Advertising doesn't have to directly ask for support. Advertising can also promote a product or organization by painting it in the best possible light. Again, I encourage you to read this guide to a neutral point of view. Also, if you make a claims like "innovative education and outreach" or "(fostering) global cooperation among scientists, conservationists, governments, and environmental NGOs", cite independent reliable sources to back it up. That's the best way to get an article on Wikipedia. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 20:53, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Edit Errors
An article submitted and approved earlier this week (biography of Christopher Jargocki) looks like it may have been altered. I did some minor edits to it; specifically the external links no longer worked and I have fixed them. Also, at the end of the article there is an error message that says 'cite error' but I cannot fix it. Can you help?Terri Fernandez (talk) 00:48, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- Done. Whenever there are references in an article (between <ref> and </ref> tags), you have to put {{reflist}} or </references> at the end of the article to get them to display. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 15:02, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

My only connection to the article Engraved (band) is from taking content that another editor had tried to add to the article engraving, deleting the content of that article. I agree that notability is questionable, but I am trying to get this editor on the right track of editing. Alansohn (talk) 18:46, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, I see what you're doing. Could I suggest userfying the content? I (or you, if you'd like) could set up a sandbox for the editor so he can work on improving the article. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 18:49, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
AfC
You put a hold on an a suggested AfC (Mildred Persinger) for the reason that you wanted the article rewritten more like an encyclopedia article. I did this, as this can be difficult for new users of Wikipedia, especially with the addition of a COI. --KP Botany (talk) 10:54, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Kudos for your work, the article looks very good. I've added a few minor things (categories, persondata, etc.). When I reviewed the article, it came across as very promotional, but that has been addressed. Now that the article is live, anyone can work on expanding it. TN‑X-Man 15:27, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Truthfully I couldn't even read it as was, but she did seem to be interesting and notable, and I didn't think the author would be able to put together an encyclopedia-appropriate article from what was offered. After reading about 6 AfC proposals I've decided it's not an area for me. --KP Botany (talk) 18:11, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to hear that. There is a lot of junk to sort through, but sometimes you come across some really interesting stuff. Anything from a cave in Eastern Europe, to a card game from the 1800's, to this thing. Anyways, happy editing! TN‑X-Man 19:43, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Patricia Grossman
Hello.
I hope you don't mind my contacting you, but as you may have noticed, I have deleted your edit to my listing, a quote from Publishers Weekly, because it is unflattering. Most writers' listings don't have review quotes, but the simple facts of what they have written and when it was published.
Since you restored the quote, I just wanted to let you know why I'd prefer not to include it. Thanks very much.
Best,
Patty
—Preceding unsigned comment added by Pagross (talk • contribs) 22:29, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, articles on Wikipedia are not about what is flattering or not. I have included the quote as helps establish notability by being published in a reliable source. Also, remember that Wikipedia is not a place to promote anyone or anything. That being said, if there is anything with which I can help you, please let me know. TNXMan 23:12, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Gilera thingy
Ta for that. I saw a web site in the intro and thought spam myself! (I spend more time tagging for spam than defending articles someone's tagged. I've taken a couple off recently that I'd put on. On re-reading, I couldn't see why I'd done it.) Peridon (talk) 18:56, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- Not a problem at all. I missed the word "discontinued". I'll admit, it's kinda hard to promote/spam a product that isn't made anymore. :P TNXMan 19:01, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
How to contact another user
Hi Tnxman,
Thanks for your reply. The use is GrahamColm. There was nothing on his site that suggested that questions could not be posted. It's just that from the information about etiquette that I got the impression you should only post to a talk page if you want to suggest edits. I don't want to do that -- I only need more info.
Anyway, since both you and Algebraist said that this was an appropriate use of the Talk page, I posted my question. I look forward to Graham's answer.
BTW, is there an easy way to respond to a post (along the lines of "reply" in a standard mailer)/
Thanks!
RomaLevy (talk) 20:16, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Roma
- No problem. As for your other question, the best way to respond to a post is to click on the "edit" link at the upper right of section where you wish your reply to be posted. Post your reply, using colons to indent as necessary and sign by using four tildes. Don't hestiate to drop me a line if you have further questions. Best, TNXMan 20:34, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
Review of the article.
Hi,
Greetings! I have created an article on a non-government,organization [[1]]. Can you please review and suggest as to how I can make this article better?
Thanks, Sachin Tewari Chhetri (talk) 13:56, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- I think the best suggestion I can make concerns the tone of the article. The article reads very much like a promotion/brochure. Look at this guide for suggestions on how to correct that. Also, you've cited sources (which is good), but you need to integrate citations in to the article. This guide can help you there. Best, TNXMan 14:19, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
AfCreation
Fair call on Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Submissions/KaiWong, I wasn't familiar with the AfCs use of Wikipedia talk pages without corresponding Wikipedia pages. I still consider it a bit odd but what the hey. :-) Usrnme h8er (talk · contribs) 19:01, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. It wasn't going to be created through AfC without major improvements. As an aside, the reason AfC uses talk pages is so that anonymous users can contribute articles. IP addresses can create new talk pages, but not new article/project pages. Sometimes you get contributions like the one you saw and sometimes you get very good articles. We could always use a hand if you're interested! TNXMan 19:14, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- And now it all makes sense. I might stop bye sometime when I get bored of being labled too much of a deletionist. :-) Usrnme h8er (talk · contribs) 00:16, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
AfC challenge
Hi Tnxman, I'm just back from holidays and I notice that it's 12 Feb when we decided to close the competition. (Also there's an outstanding review needed). I'm a bit disappointed by the participation. Maybe we could try it again at a different time of year and try to advertise it a bit more? How are you anyway? Martin 02:36, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm disappointed with the AfC challenge as well. I guess we need to step back and see what went wrong and what went well. Maybe a different time of year?
- As for me, I'm doing well. I'm considering taking another crack at adminship, but I'm not in a hurry. How are you? Was your vacation enjoyable? TNXMan 03:11, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes thanks, vacation in Vietnam was excellent. I only noticed your RFA quite recently or I would have supported. It was probably a little early but I was still disappointed to see the outcome. Anyway it's good that you didn't let it discourage you. I would certainly support you in the future or even co/nominate if you liked. About the challenge, do you want to review that last one and close it down or shall I? Martin 09:07, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- I've reviewed the last one, but am on my way out the door for work. If you could do the honors with regards to closing it down? TNXMan 12:50, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

HMR page
I'm wondering if you would take a look at the edits I made on the page for Health Management Resources (HMR). I have a few references to work on but wanted to see if you could give feedback on the content, in light of the comments you made last week. Thank you.Weightdoc (talk) 19:02, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's looking better (good job!). I guess the question I have now is this: can you point me to (not self-published) sources that describe the company? I see (first-party references to the weight studies and references that support the science, but I don't see any independent third-party references that cover the company. I also tweaked the display to make the references display in two rows. Cheers! TN‑X-Man 19:17, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
The first 2 references are government books, not HMR resources. We have been mentioned in other documents and I am looking for those references as well. Does that help? Weightdoc (talk) 19:38, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
This is another reference from the Internet about HMR: http://www.bestdietforme.com/Top60DietReviews/HMR.htm. Is that okay to include? Weightdoc (talk) 19:55, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe. I'm not in a place I can check external links, but I'll get back to you once I can. TN‑X-Man 19:59, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. Much appreciated. Weightdoc (talk) 20:36, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Okay! I looked at the site. It's a good reference, but only for the "Comment" section where they review the program. If you wanted to say something like "Acoording to bestdietforme.com, HMR ranks as one of the top two fasting programs in the country" or some other quote from the Comment section, that would be a great reference (independent, third-party, etc.). TN‑X-Man 22:43, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Okay. I added two more sentences, including a quote from the website. If that's okay then I think I am finished with this page and would like to figure out how to take it from my user page to a live page. I was going to add the categories but noticed when I did that it went onto the category page right away. I could use some assistance. Thanks again. Weightdoc (talk) 14:51, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- In order to move a page, click the "move" tab at the top of the page. This will allow you to move the article from your user space to the main Wikipedia area. In order to add categories, you'll need to find which ones apply to your article first. Check out this guide to find them. Once you have, add [[Category:desired category]] to the bottom of the page. Good luck! TN‑X-Man 18:13, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks again for your help. I moved the page but when someone else goes on it doesn't appear. Do I need to delete my userpage? Weightdoc (talk) 19:50, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Nope. You have moved the page and now your userpage and talkpage redirect to the article. The article exists at Health Management Resources® (HMR®). You'll need to edit your userpage and talkpage in order to remove the redirect. TN‑X-Man 20:08, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
I removed the redirect from my user page but I am still the only one who can see it. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Thanks. Weightdoc (talk) 20:28, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm. I can see the article at the link I provided above. If you mean seeing the page on a search engine (Google, etc.), pages usually take a few days before they are indexed. When you say "you're the only one who can see it", to what are you referring? TN‑X-Man 20:35, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
I can only see it on my computer. If someone else goes on their computer to search for HMR on Wikipedia it comes up that no such page exists. If I search for HMR on my computer I can find the article. Weightdoc (talk) 20:42, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Here's something else that I noticed. When I try to print the article it consistently does not print page 3 which is everything from the end of health-related data to reference number 25. Do you know why that is happening? Weightdoc (talk) 20:53, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- I am not sure about the printing. There could be a variety of issues that cause that, from your computer to your browser to your printer. Sorry. :( I have moved your article to the less clumsily titled Health Management Resources. Not only does it sound better, it should provide a more natural search term. TN‑X-Man 22:28, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
I just noticed that the quotes I added to the first paragraph (as we discussed yesterday) are no longer there but I don't see any record of editing or deletion. Can I add them back in? Weightdoc (talk) 17:29, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- You can, but if you look at the page history (the "history" tab at the top), you'll see that User:Strikeout Sister removed the section. I would suggest discussing with her before re-adding. TN‑X-Man 17:53, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Hi again. Just wondering if you can help me out with something. I looked at other sites - such as Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig - and noticed that they have a much more in-depth description of the actual program (and not referenced with outside sources). This is what was deleted from our page. I'm not sure why ours was deleted but the others are allowed to stand. Any thoughts? Thanks again for your help. Weightdoc (talk) 18:52, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm. It appears that User:Strikeout Sister has done some copyediting to the page. Since she is the one who made the edits, she is probably the best person with whom to discuss your concerns. My guess would be that she is concerned about an appearance of advertising. If you start a discussion with her, you'll probably be able find out where she's coming from and what you can do to arrive a good solution. Best, TNXMan 19:07, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- That was exactly my problem. I found the paragraph too spammy and the info in it not relevant to a WP article. An unsourced and detailed description of the program belongs on the company's website in my opinion. Overhere a general overview will do.
SIS16:55, 12 February 2009 (UTC)- Thank you for taking the time to explain your edits. Hopefully, this will spark some good discussion and the article will improve as a result. TNXMan 17:14, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Can you please clean up 2 pages that I have worked on, that I just can't seem to make look good. You've cleaned up Ottawa Junior Riders fairly nicely... so I figured? Ottawa Sooners Cumberland Panthers

Talk Page Response
I have no intention of SPAMMING Wikipedia. If I made a mistake let me know and I will fix it ASAP. I read the guides already and to my knowledge have followed it precisely.
As I stated right at the top of my UserPage "The purpose of these [Wikipedia:User_page | Wikipedia Profiles]] are twofold: (1) to help Wikipedia Administrators and Editors delegate writing assignments to the most qualified Wikipedia Writers based on their education, experience, and expertise; (2) to help other Wikipedia Contributors understand with whom they are working."
This comes right out of Wikipedia's policies.
My UserPage is writen from a factual and neatral point of view. No where in there do I say "I'm the best" or any other promotional language.
Does this clear up your concerns?
Andrew!
- Well, not really. First of all, administrators do not "delegate writing assignments". Secondly, the abundance of external links you have added are also a concern. Finally, many of the edit summaries and info you have provided lead me to believe that you are the "MarketingMarksman" or work for a company of the same name. TNXMan 23:29, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Genova & Dimitrov article
Hello,
it could appear that this article is an advertising because it contains mostly facts, which are very colorful and unusual for the median type of living. However this is part of an Artist's life and ONLY proof of his/her/their reputation and artistic achievements.
Under the Press Release center could be found hundreds of independant press sources like newspapers, magazines, radio and TV staions from all over the world; The Library of Congress Sound Reference Center shuld also serve as a quite independant information source, couldn't it?; or may be the Hannover State University of Music and Drama website; or the 8 released CDs and the critics on them... What is necessary more? Pls advise. --84.131.88.225 (talk) 11:30, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

- I'm not sure what you mean. I didn't see where you were ever warned for vandalism. I would recommend, however, that you read the guide on reliable sources and the info on a neutral point of view. It seems that the articles to which you have recently contributed could be written in a more encyclopedia tone, which is a great way for a new contributor to learn how Wikipedia works. Check out the manual of style and Your First Article for more. TNXMan 02:28, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi and a little help.
Hi Tnxman307, I was wondering what I should do to fix the Daily Jolt Wiki page so that it is less "promotional" so that it isn't speedy deleted. Obviously the format of the current entry needs work (ok a lot of work), but in terms of content could you possibly explain what is so promotional about it so that I can fix it. I would appreciate it as this is my first attempt at making an entry and I wouldn't want to keep making the same mistakes.
Thanks for your help —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.236.127.208 (talk) 23:00, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm glad to hear you're interested in improving the article. There are couple of great places to get started. First of all, check out the your-first-article guide. Also read the notability guideline. Basically, articles have to be written from a neutral point of view and must be backed up by independent, reliable sources. A good example is the article about the webcomic Ctrl+Alt+Del. It doesn't promote the website, but simply describes it. It also demonstrates that other people/organizations have covered it (see the reference section at the bottom).
- So where can you go from here? You can work on the article in a sandbox, which is a place where you can work without worrying about the article being deleted. Of course, you'll need an account (which also cannot be promotional, see the username policy). And if you have any questions, feel free to ask. TNXMan 23:10, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Dr Alix Pryde
I am totally new to Wikkipedia and accept fully the criticism of my first attempt, more laziness then bad faith. Hopefully the new article is more acceptable, although I would welcome any help/criticism. Many thanks NiknamH (talk) 16:38, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well, first of all, welcome! Secondly, I would suggest you read this guide on how to maintain a neutral point of view in articles. Remember, articles are simply supposed to describe the subject, not provide a CV or promotional material. Also, this guide has tips for your first article. I've moved the article to the correct capitalization for you. If you have any questions, you can drop me a line. Best, TNXMan 16:51, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

I think there should at least be some sort of clause explaining the fact that the shortened verison "Willie", of the name "William", has an inherent degree of lulz, it almost being a homonym for a remis. 91.108.236.105 (talk) 19:22, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

- Not a problem, happy to help. Are you going to withdraw the Afd as well? TNXMan 20:47, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure it got beyond the tag - it was relinked. Where would I go to check? (yep, I'd withdraw if it did go through)— Ched (talk) 21:07, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Nevermind - found it in my history - withdrawing — Ched (talk) 21:08, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Well, it did go through (sometimes, the page must be purged to turn the red link blue). However, at this point, other editors have offered opinions, so it's probably best to let the AfD run its course. You can find the discussion at WP:Articles for deletion/Taylor Fawcett. Hi Tnxman307! The article I created, L'Absent, has been improved and expanded since you nominated it for deletion. I would be truly obliged were you to take the time to view it and give me your opinion.--Iswearius (talk) 22:25, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well, it looks as if you're doing a great job. Someone at the AfD brought up a good point (of which I was not aware), that film has been placed in a national archive. That does satisfy the relevant guideline, so I think the article will be kept. I would also encourage you to check out the movie Wikiproject. You seem to be interested in movies and there are a bunch of places to help. If there's anything else with which I can help, let me know. TNXMan 23:56, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Would you check out my contribution that I would like to put up in Wikipedia proper?
From the question/answer page, you seem to be someone who knows a lot about the rules, etc. Would you take a look at my userpage where I am creating a page on the "ProScan Survey". I have tried really hard to follow the rules of notability, siting sources, and being appropriate. But, if I am going in the wrong direction, I don't want to spend time and then have it removed. You review would be appreciated.
TheInsideTrack (talk) 16:47, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- There are only a few corrections I would make. Instead of <references/>, I would use {{reflist}} in your Notes section. It produces the same result, but it makes the text smaller and doesn't take up as much room. I would also remove the paragraph right above the Notes section, as it seems to have little to do with ProScan and may be a little advert-ish. You may also want to include an infobox to provide details. Finally, you can remove header at the very top of the page, as Wikipedia automatically provides one for you. Let me know if there's anything else with which I can help. TNXMan 16:56, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Vandalism
Please be a bit more careful when reverting as vandalism, that edit seems to have been in good faith by someone who simply doesn't know how Wikipedia works. Thanks, — neuro(talk) 19:54, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- I respectfully disagree. I saw the edit as a sarcastic comment, possibly by a disgruntled customer. The edit summary I used did say "vandalism", but the template I left on the user's talk page was a reminder to properly cite any claims inserted into articles. I have since left a welcome message for the user as well. TNXMan 20:15, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- A comment from a disgruntled customer != vandalism. I just think that if there is any amount of doubt then you should assume good faith - after all, that is a core policy. — neuro(talk) 20:52, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- I would contend that comments like that are unclear with regards to their intent. Again, the message I left on the user's talk page did not mention vandalism, rather a reminder to properly source claims like the one made. The message is much more visible than the edit summary and was not intended to assume bad faith. If I had assumed bad faith, I would have posted to ANI in big, bold letters with a blink tag: if you're going to go, go all out!
- Seriously, though, I'm sorry if that's the way it came across. It was not intended that way. TNXMan 21:14, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Honestly, I doubt the user was offended, it was just a notice suggesting you might not revert it as vandalism the next time something with such ambiguous intentions as the aforementioned message comes up. Have a nice day. :) — neuro(talk) 22:38, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

page does not exist?
I contributed the biography of Christopher Jargocki about a month ago. I tried to add two more categories, but it's telling me the page does not exist, even though it does. Can you help me? Thank you.Terri Fernandez (talk) 22:43, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey Tnxman,
Thank you again for the nomination and support. I was honestly expecting to get mauled but for some reason it didn't happen.
Give me a couple of weeks and then if you like we can start thinking about your nom?
By the way, you're in a different time zone to me. I was wondering if the daily AfC categories (e.g. Category:AfC submissions by date/23 February 2009) are actually correct for you, as they might work on UTC. For example, if you submit an article at 10pm your time, does it go into tomorrow's category? Martinmsgj 07:38, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. I'm glad everything went so well. I'm just sorry my nomination statement didn't include a graphical thingamajig. :P
- I'm thinking the later part of March or beginning of April would be a good time to stand again (and thank you for the offer to nominate me!).
- I looked at some of the articles in the category you listed. I believe they are sorted by the UTC time when they were created. I have my preferences set to display local time where possible, but timestamps in edit histories are always show as UTC. TNXMan 12:51, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps tagging the article with the LOCALTIMESTAMP magic word might solve the problem? Martinmsgj 17:27, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- It depends on where the category looks for the time. If it looks in the edit history, then it will be UTC (and I don't if that can be changed to local time). If it looks at the AFC tag, then using LOCALTIME may fix it. TNXMan 17:50, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, the banner categorises the submission based on the timestamp at creation. So I'll change it to local time to see if it makes a difference. Martinmsgj 12:19, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Upload an Image?
Hi there. I've been working a bit on the Alex Gaskarth page. Sorry about the external links thing. I've read the criteria now.
I was wondering if you could help me. I only have access to the internet through work, but they block all image hosting sites. I have an image of Alex Gaskarth that I took at a show back in November 2008 that I'd like to use for his page. Can I email you the image and you upload it for me? If you don't wanna upload it to Wiki, that's fine, but if you could just upload it to like TinyPic or something and send me the link, then I can (hopefully) figure how to upload it here.
My email is <blanking to prevent spam>
Thanks! (: 12.185.22.200 (talk) 19:19, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well, there are a couple of things to point out. First of all, it appears that User:Nouse4aname has redirected the page. Clicking on Alex Gaskarth now takes you to the article on the band All Time Low. This is usually done when there is not enough info to support a full article about someone who is related to/involved with a group/subject that already has an article. For example, Malia Obama redirects to Barack Obama. If you feel there is enough info in independent reliable sources to support an article, I would suggest creating an account so you can work on it. There are also several other benefits.
- Secondly, there is already a way to request that image uploads. Check out WP:Images for upload for more info. Best, TNXMan 19:35, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Need help with an article
Hi, Tnxman307, You recently reviewed an article on ProtoShare and I'm having trouble trying to make the appropriate edits for approval. I have read the reliable resources and verifiability several times now and I thought I was in compliance, but even after I made some minor adjustments, another reviewer said I didn't make any improvements. I'm seeing other software pages (like Visio, OmiGraffle, and Axure) that only reference themselves (granted Microsoft is a story all in its own) when I have referenced other sources. I'm just a bit lost. I want to create an informative page on an online software tool that is established in the industry. Please help!
- I've had another look at the article. It seems that you're almost there. You've linked to other places, but I don't see any independent reliable sources that back up the information about ProtoShare. Are there any independent reviews of the software? The Wikinomics interview is a great example of what's needed. One or two more sources like that and you'll be good to go. Also, take a look at the neutral point of view info. That's a big help also. Best, TNXMan 19:07, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your help with this, it's much appreciated. We do have several independent reviews, but not yet by any major publications. Would sources like [3], [4] and [5] be acceptable?
--Site9 (talk) 17:21, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I am not in a place where I can check external links. However, I will take a look at them later on this evening. Best, TNXMan 17:29, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- OK, so I took a look at those sites. Those all look like reliable sources, but I didn't see links to reviews of ProtoShare (but I'm sure they're there). Add references to those reviews/articles from those websites and I think you'll be ready to go. Best, TNXMan 12:48, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Wonderful! Thank you very much, I'll make the additions with the direct links and resubmit. I appreciate your help! --76.164.40.34 (talk) 18:56, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Draft March Surnames
User talk:Dthomsen8/sandbox01 is my draft of the March surnames page. Thank you for your responses. I have some questions:
1) Is the California politician Eu in the proper place in the list?
2) Do I need more people on the page? I will remove the unused letters when done adding people.
3) Are the See Also entries at the bottom of the page reasonable, or am I repeating entries elsewhere which can be omitted on my page?
4) I have some people without Wikipedia articles. I want to retain Francis Andrew March, Jr., since he is the start of this whole effort on my part, and I will research him after completing this page, but I have some others without a link. Any suggestions?
5) Any other comments? Dthomsen8 (talk) 17:15, 2 March 2009 (UTC)DavidT8
- The article looks very good. Eu looks like it is in the correct place. Here are the suggestions I would make otherwise.
- I don't believe there are enough people on the list to warrant subsections by letter. As long as they are in alphabetical order by first name, it should be OK.
- I would move the link to March (disambiguation) to the top of the page. Otherwise, the See Also looks good.
- Finally, I would remove the redlinks until an article exists. The link can be readded after the article is crea. All in all, this looks like a very good disambig page. Just as a heads up, it looks like you left a signature in the article, don't forget to remove it. Best, TNXMan 17:52, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Invitation to join a discussion on an AfC article you reviewed
Hi, Tnxman307. I received a note on my talk page from the creator of an AfC submission, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Submissions/ProtoShare. I've declined this submission, and he is asking me to reconsider, based on a conversation he apparently had with you. I personally don't feel that this article meets our standards for notability yet, but I'm also willing to defer to your judgment on the issue. On Demand Analysis
Your argument that adding On Demand Analysis doesn't make too much sense to me. All of the tools that you have listed are, essentially, advertisements for that particular product. You go to their wiki page, and they have a link to their website. Plus, by not adding On Demand Analysis to your list, you are not creating a more complete list of business intelligence tools. You would, therefore, be only listing the "bigger" companies, which is subjective in by itself. You will need to provide a more detailed, better explanation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.170.185.189 (talk) 02:36, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
If you would like me to add, let's say, five additional BI tools to your list, I would be perfectly fine doing that. I just think you need to create a more complete list of BI tools. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.170.185.189 (talk) 02:45, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- If you'll notice, each link on the Business intelligence tools has an associated article, which is why I've removed the link to OnDemand Analysis. Wikipedia is not a link repository or a directory. Your best bet is to create an article about OnDemand (keeping in mind the relevant guideline) and then add the wikilink to the Business intelligence tools article. TNXMan 18:59, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Alix Pryde article
Many thanks for your kind advice. Hopefully the new article is well within the guidelines. I have referenced it and provided links and yet it is still saying it is orphaned. Have I missed something?
Again many thanks, this is a completely new experience and I find the collaborative spirit really refreshing.
NiknamH (talk) 19:42, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, the orphan tag simply means that few, if any, other articles link to Alix Pryde. You can see which articles do link to the article by clicking the "What links here" link on the left hand side of the article. To remove the tag, find related articles and integrate a link to Alix Pryde. However, don't simply put links everywhere willy-nilly. It's best to work them in to existing articles. I'm guessing BBC and related articles would be the best place to start. Best, TNXMan 19:50, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Fair and Lovely
You re-redirected Fair and Lovely to Unilever. I believe "Fair and Lovely" is such a huge product it needs its own page; as you have an interest and are usered perhaps you could stub? A person looking up F&L is probably looking for all sorts of info not a list half way down Unilever.
Cheers! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.239.149.113 (talk) 00:58, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, since the page already exists, you can create the article yourself. Just erase the redirect and put in the info. However, I would strongly suggest that you read the guides on notability, neutrality, and reliable sources. I'd be happy to help you out if you have questions. Another good way to go about it is by creating an account (which has many other benefits) and experimenting in a sandbox first. Best, TNXMan 01:56, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Articles for creation KHIT-FM
Hi, I'm not sure if you created an article for this station per aFc (your username shows up as creating the talk page). The problem with that creation is that the station already had an article. When the call sign was changed from KXOB to KHIT-FM a new user requested a new page when he didn't know the WP:WPRS naming convention policy which is to move the existing article to the new call sign (so KXOB should have been edited to reflect the new call sign and then moved to KHIT-FM). And since the 2 articles have concurrent edit histories a history merge could not be done by the administrator. I had no choice but to move the page you created to "KHIT (FM)" and make it a redirect and move the existing page to "KHIT-FM" so now the edit histories are split (noted on the talk page). So if somebody nominates the creation of another radio or TV station page could you please make sure there isn't already an article that hasn't been moved. If you are unsure about that somebody from the radio project can help. Thanks RobDe68 (talk) 04:21, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for the heads up! I was not aware of the info on naming radio stations. However, I will certainly be more cautious in the future. Hi. I recently submitted an article about Civil War medicine and the article was reviewed and denied because it was taken directly from my website. I understand and agree with you that we cannot be posting information verbatim from websites but this site is owned by me and the article is written by me. Is there any way to allow someone who has a website to publish an article that they may have written on Wikipedia?
Thank you! Cwsurgeon (talk) 13:49, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Well, there are a couple of things to mention here. First of all, Wikipedia does not republish material. If you would like to write an article that uses your website as a source, that would be great. One of things Wikipedia needs is multiple independent reliable sources, so your website can't be the only source used, even if it is the jumping-off point. I would suggest (since you have now created an account) working on the article in a private sandbox. That way you can integrate other sources into the article and get outside opinions before moving the article to the mainspace. If you have questions, I'd be happy to help you out. WikiQuotes
Hi Tnxman307, I added two quotations to a biography I contributed, but you removed them. Is there a separate page I put quotations? How can these be verifiable? Christopher Jargocki said the quotes in the class he teaches... he asked me to add it to his biography.Terri Fernandez (talk) 23:49, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- The best place for quotations is on our sister project, wikiquote. There really isn't a place for general quotations in articles here, unless they can be supported by independent reliable sources. Also, you may want to read our info on conflict of interest. Remember, all articles here are supposed to be written from a neutral point of view and should not promote a subject. Hi, I've declined your speedy deletion nomination of Euroluna as being a registered competitor in Lunar X is IMHO an assertion of notability. However if its still that stubby in a few days a prod would probably be in order. WereSpielChequers 15:53, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Harekrishna Meher
Just noticed this guy has been continuously improving his article which was declined in November! When I tried to help him to resubmit he promptly removed the tag. So not sure what's going on there. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:01, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm. I wonder if he knows that his article is not in the mainspace? I also suspect he may be trying to avoid notice, as he has received several warnings for advertising and inserting spam links promoting this same poet. I'll try to initiate a conversation with him and see what response he gives. There may be a viable article here, but it needs to be drastically copyedited. TNXMan 19:14, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

- No problem, I'm always happy to help out where I can. As for your signature, the first step is to go to your preferences and make sure the "raw signature" box is checked. Then, in the signature box, you can insert the wikitext for your signature. There's a lot more info at WP:SIG, including what is and is not allowed, plus some tips and tricks. Translation and Copyright
Well, can't YOU tell I'm all at sea.....I cannot even put an answer to your reply in the newbie q&a section ( thanks very much for the fast response btw.! ), just don't know how, but then I'm ancient and not at all computer wise, not easy as an old dog to learn to jump through hoops with a triple somersault to finish off ;0). To the point: the article in question is on German author 'Else Ury', I read her books as a child, came accross something last night that prompted me to look her up and although perhaps more of interest to Germans I thought it was sad exactly how short the English entry was in comparison and was then informed by my 'Beloved' that I could do something about it if I so wished. I so wish and here I am but it's an uphill struggle, worse than Mount E.! So the best advice you can muster would be much appreciated and I shall respond - and thank you - here if that's ok unless it is preferred in the newbie q&a section although, unless I start a new question which would be inappropriate, I still don't know how. Cheers, Bombushortorum (talk) 14:02, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- You're more than welcome to ask questions here or at the help desk. It looks like Else Ury has some good info listed there, but if there is more at the German wikipedia, feel free to translate and add it in. It appears that there is another user who has been active in editing the article, so you may want to drop them a line on their talk page. According to their user page, they speak German and may be able to help with the translating. I hope you enjoy editing here and if there's anything with which I can help you, just drop me a line. Best, TNXMan 14:19, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for reply and yes I saw the history and user editing the article and I will get in touch with them to see what's what. I speak native German myself though so there is no problem in the translation department whatsoever. Thanks again for help and advice, cheers, Bombushortorum (talk) 15:00, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Genova & Dimitrov article
Sorry, but I REALLY couldn't understand what is necessary to re-do in the article in order to be "accepted" - one colleague of yours is saying "This is too much information", the next one "It is too few information", now you decide o decline the request because you consider The Library of Congree in Washington, the State University of Music and Drama in Hannover, all the numerous independant newspapers and magazines from the whole world NOT VERIFIABLE AND NOTABLE ENOUGH to prove the importance of the two artists, who were chosen i.e. to open the Winter Olympis in Salt Lake City?!?!?! Tom O'Brien
Dear Tnxman307
I have been trying to research the swindler - Thomas O'Brien. Do you know if a photo of him exists anywhere? I have often heard that the Chicago Police Force had a rogues gallery similar to the one that Thomas Byrne created in New York. Would you know anything about that?
Thanks Peter —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.139.141.187 (talk) 22:18, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

- Well, first of all, Wikipedia discourages people from writing about themselves because there is an inherent conflict of interest. This page on autobiographies has more info on the subject. Secondly, Wikipedia depends on independent reliable sources to support its info. If you can point out some of those to support your AFC request, it would go a long way. Shaemas O'Sheel
In removing the copyvio template from Shaemas O'Sheel, you state in the edit summary: "not a blatant copyright vio and there's enough here to salvage". The article in its entirety is a direct and blatant copy of the text at http://library.syr.edu/digital/guides/o/osheel_s.htm#d0e84. Please explain how (1) this does not constitute a "blatant copyright vio", and (2) "there's enough here to salvage". --Yumegusa (talk) 22:51, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- I also see you've reinstated the "Irish poets" category on the article. Please provide justification for this. According to the category text, "This category lists poets who originated from Ireland or spent a notable part of their careers in Ireland."--Yumegusa (talk) 22:57, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- I've fixed up the article some, so it is no longer a copyvio. I've added some more referenced material, and a Google search shows that there is much more out there to find.
Also, I added the category Irish poets because O'Sheel did originate there as he was born there.TNXMan 23:25, 19 March 2009 (UTC)- I misread the article, so I can see why Irish poets does not apply. TNXMan 23:30, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

- Your article was deleted because it was blatant advertising. In order for companies to have articles, the article must be written from a neutral point of view and must be supported by independent reliable sources. Tnxman307, I have recently added an biographical note of Chris Bergstrom who is one of the leading online marketers from Canada and has been doing his bit at a online marketing professional for quite sometimes. His biographical note is unique and has not been reproduced anywhere else. He doesn't have many write-ups pertaining to his work or his biographical account. Is this lack of "verifiable content" why you deleted that page! Felidae Conservation Fund New Submission
Hi. I can understand your concern. I have changed wording so that it does not use words like "innovative", although even articles in the SF Gate about Felidae did use such language. I did not alter the Mission and Philosophy because that is a viable statement of what is aimed for, the overarching goal, not a statement of what has been accomplished. The rest of the article is pure objective fact. I am not sure how else to change this if you still disagree. I did read your guidelines and I believe this fits.Signing to allow archiving. - It's not a problem. If you're doing new page patrol, it's always best to take a moment to review the criteria for speedy deletion if you're not sure. Also, be sure to check the related articles to see if there any other options besides deletion. I think the best idea here is to bring up the list on the talk page of The 39 Clues and see if there is any consensus to merge the info to the parent article. Also, if you ever have any questions about whether deletion is appropriate (or anything else really), please feel free to stop by. I'd be happy to help out. TNXMan 03:04, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Please make the case to me that the following pages/organizations have enough notoriety to have acceptable pages, yet my organization does not:

How is it that they are not in violation of the blatant advertising guideline and yet we are? I am crying foul here. Please explain to me the difference because I don't see one and I feel my nonprofit is being unfairly pegged as advertising, when other pages that are like ours, such as the two above, do so and are not penalized.
Mharbeke (talk) 19:00, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- Your article was deleted because it appeared to be advertising. Remember, all articles must be written from a neutral point of view and cannot promote any company or product. Also, all articles must be supported by reliable sources that provide in-depth coverage from (an) independent author(s). Finally, all articles are judged on their own merits. If another article has issues, those can be addressed. The state of those articles does not have bearing on yours. If you would like to work on improving your article, I suggest starting in a sandbox and moving the article to the mainspace when it's ready. That should prevent deletion. The Helga Project
I don't understand why this page was deleted. It provides information on an open source software project being worked on at Hampshire College in Massachusetts. I just heard about it today, when an artist acquaintance mentioned the page was gone. There is no advertising involved. People who are trying to find out about this software project have been inconvenienced as a result of this action. Did you object to the references to professional studios which might be using this software? Seems a bit rash to just delete the entire page. I can't seem to find any discussion of this action.

- The protection encourages both editors to use the talk page. I suggest trying to start the discussion to see where it goes. - Notability is one of the keys to having an article on Wikipedia. A subject (person, concept, entity, etc.) is considered notable if it has received significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Userspace is something like this talk page or my user page. It's not the main part of Wikipedia, but it can be edited in the same fashion. If you'd like, you work on improving your article in your userspace before moving it to the main part of Wikipedia. Hey, man, I just picked a name. Your site allowed it. Sin stands for sine, i.e. the sine curve. The sine curve was so named because it resembled a breast by a minister who shortened it to sin--leave that to the minister. Bot is my acronym for Be On Time--a pet peeve of mine. If you don't like Bot why do you allow it. You can delete me but you and the other edit done by an administrator proves the point to my students that this is a bogus encylopedia. Thanks for helping--not! SinBot (talk) 21:35, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Americana Phonic and audio of Common Sense
Hi, I am pretty new to Wikipedia, and am still figuring it out.
I think the link to audio of Common Sense by Thomas Paine deserves consideration for inclusion on the page. It's a very high quality narration, and is provided free of charge. It has been available on Americana Phonic since 2007. I have kept adding it, not to be a troublemaker, but in the hopes of being able to contact the person who controls the page to make a case for including this link.
Thanks,
Mike —Preceding unsigned comment added by AmericanaPhonic (talk • contribs) 16:07, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
- Well, there are two things to consider. First, there is no one person that controls a page. If you would like to include an external link, consider discussing the link on the article's talk page. If there is a consensus to add the link, it can be done. Secondly, please consider whether or not you have a conflict of interest. It appears from your username that you represent or are otherwise involved with the website. If you have a conflict of interest, you are discouraged from editing articles/links that relate to your company/website. TNXMan 16:32, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Family the web series - deletion
Hello! Thank you for taking time looking at my entry on Family: The Web Series.
Because of the Kinsey Institute's request to add it to a collection, and because the Seattle Times article was a recent, non-advertorial and extensive feature based on the series' examination of a notable sociological phenomenon and lifestyle, I believe that it meets notability (and verifiability) criteria.
I wonder if you have a moment to guide me on how -- given the series' attention by reliable sources and organizations such as these, and given the concise and factual nature of my Wikipedia submission -- I would begin to overcome the grounds on which it was deleted so quickly.
Many thanks!

novoseek page deleted
Hi,
Recently i figure that the page for novoseek was deleted based on G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion. However going through Wikki help to know further reason y saw that in this case it said "Note that simply having a company or product as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion" and taking into account that GoPubMed or Hubmed has their own pages is not clear to me the reason to delete it.
However I will appreciate if you could let me know wether I should rewrite the page our I could edit the delated page (since as read on the wiki page the content has not been lost) to put a more neutral text.

- No problem! Some userboxes automatically place a page in a category. For example, the user box {{User csuf}} automatically places your user page in the category "Wikipedians by alma mater: California State University, Fullerton". However, since that category didn't exist yet, I had to create it, which I did by copy/pasting from a related category and changing the names. Also, the link in the userbox code was wrong, but I fixed it. So now everything should be kosher. Let me know if there's anything else with which I can help. TNXMan 16:55, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, you did a good job, and it helped me to see how my job was not so good. I was able to follow your changes, and so see where I erred. It is not so clear, from Wikipedia help documentation, how a UserBox should be created. So, I tried the copy and past that is suggested on the page which lists all the UserBoxes that have been created for US colleges and universities. I see that the {{EDUCAT}} is used, so now I know more about the process of creating a UserBox. Thank you very much for your kind assistance with this matter. William R. I am taking it up with you, here and now in relation to the wikipedia policy on this matter.
Do you have a personal grudge against Syed Ahmed? You seem relentless in your efforts to ensure a negative and defamatory slant on this article. Quite frankly I'm surprised. Perhaps this is just an automated response from twinkle and not your aim - however given your persistence in the matter I now have my doubts. I don't know Twinkle (yet), but I would like to know if you have set it up to watch Mr Ahmed's profile specifically and if so why.
I refer you to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Libel
"...For this reason, all contributors should recognize that it is their responsibility to ensure that material posted on Wikipedia is not defamatory..."

- Like I said in my edit summary, if you think a quote in the article is libellous, take it up with source. Wikipedia is only quoting what was already published in the source. I think I could turn your question around and ask you why you are bound and determined to remove any hint of a blemish from the article. And also, if you'd like to learn more about Twinkle, you can read about it here. TNXMan 22:44, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- I should clarify it is not my intention to remove any hint of blemish only ensure that the Living Persons Biograpy policy is adhered to. The underlying premise is that care must be taken and that a neutral tone used. The emphasis is on ensuring no defamatory commentary regardless of the credibility of the source. This is view on the policy has some concensus. Amicaveritas (talk) 09:29, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
>> From your user page "Just cleaning up. I prefer watching the the recent changes list and new pages list for vandalism and the like. I'm always looking to get more involved, so if there's anything with which I can help, drop me a line and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!"
- you seem like a reasonable guy who is of huge benefit to the wiki community. Please explain your campaign against Syed Ahmed - it makes no sense.

- Tnxman307 - I just wanted to say thank you for bringing [Gwen] into this discussion. Although I don't agree with the response I recieved initially from the editorial community, I do now understand why it happened. I apologise if my lack of knowledge regarding how things work around here got your back up, it was not my intention. There's now a worthwhile [discussion] underway and the article has been frozen in the interim. Amicaveritas (talk) 09:29, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. Best of luck to you on improving the article. TNXMan 11:51, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
