Re: my userpage

hmmm..... it looks fine to me in IE and firefox. What browser are you using? (I'm assuming that's the problem because I only made sure it worked in FF and IE when I wrote that) btw, what that line is supposed to do is make those boxes appear below the footer of the page. (I thought it was kind of cool). Thanks for telling me about it too. Thingg 17:08, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

I am using Firefox. It appears to me as if the boxes overlap the footer, instead of appearing below it. I'm not sure why it would appear different, but maybe it's just my computer/screen resolution/version number/electromagnetic interference from Alpha Centauri. Huh. I'm not a computer guy, so I have no idea. Cheers! TNX-Man 17:14, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
ok. It appears that a lower screen resolution will cause that. (I just tried viewing it in a lower resolution than what I normally use). I'll just move it back above the footer. thanks for letting me know about that. Thingg 17:23, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Officer, what seems to be the problem?

I sincerely hope my username is no problem: if was expecting to make a slendid start and this is certainly not what I was looking for, a user name being innappropriate. Well, at least it gives me some attention right away so that you people can come and take a look at my wonderful userpage. Does my userpage not look slendid? I truly hope it does, I will most certainly receive some awards for at later on. Upperclass Wikipedian (talk) 13:15, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion indeed

Hi, I just posted the first version of an article for Davka, a software corporation and manufacturer of various titles including home computer games from the 1980s. Less than two minutes after I'd posted it (and while I was still editing it), I noticed you'd flagged it for speedy deletion because it didn't indicate the importance or significance of the subject, with instructions that I should add a {{holdon}} to the page if appropriate. Before I could add the {{holdon}} with the justification, the page already been completely deleted.

Zeal is admirable, but giving an editor at least a minute or two to complete the first draft of an article is considered polite. Also, if the speedy deletion template solicits holds or justifications from the contributor, the article should be allowed to persist for at least a few minutes while the editor makes the necessary additions.

Thanks Huwmanbeing  17:54, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

I understand your concern. The best way to avoid speedy deletion tags is to include reliable sources to support the subject's notability. I understand that it was a first draft, but including at least one source would help avoid deletion in the future. Cheers! TNX-Man 18:07, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Are you sure that this page is in Dutch? Given that the politician is Belgian, I would think the language would be Flemish instead. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:28, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

It was more of a guess than anything. I'm (unfortunately) not overly familiar with the native tongue of Belgium. Is it Flemish? I thought I read somewhere that it was Dutch, or possibly French in some areas? I apologize if I misidentified the language. Cheers! TNX-Man 14:32, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

AfC Wigner - 3D

The AfC process seems way too confusing, the proposed article is on the talk page?

Anyway I'll reply here and let you decide how things should proceed. The name Wigner - 3D is ... well it's bad. It should instead br something like Wigner crystalization. I see there's already an article about Wigner crystals, so I suggest expanding Wigner crystal with whatever information is useful from the AfC page and redirecting Wigner crystalization or vice-versa. Also, the proposed article reads like self-promotion/promotion of a single author/POV pushing, so I would warn against of simply copying/pasting the AfC content.

There is also the blatant plagiarism from the Nature article. Google "These so-called fractional quantum Hall liquids 1 form a series of states that ultimately give way to a periodic electron solid that crystallizes at high magnetic fields" and other sentences and you'll see what I mean.

Those are my 2 cents.Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβςWP Physics} 21:54, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the review! If it's a copyright violation, then it won't get accepted. As a side note, AfC allows anonymous editors to submit articles. After submission, they are automatically placed on the appropriate talk page. If the article meets the criteria, AfC reviewers move the article out in to the mainspace. It's a fun process. You can see some of the articles I've moved on my user page. Anyways, thanks for the help! TNX-Man 22:41, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

UKFilmnet

Dear TNX,

Following a very speedy delete and a pleade-hold insert whilst I added the required context that undrscores the unqiueness and notability of the project UKfilmNet I returned a few days later to check on advice as to whether it had met this important criteria and if not, to see what was required.

Unfortunately on my return, the article was gone and there was no further advice.

As a former national newspaper journalist for the UK broadsheet press, I am the first to recognise the importance of moderation, editing and maintenance of the high quality standards of any publication. The Times doesnt hire ant old riff raff! But I need a much clearer understanding of what was missing (and also a link to where the deleted article is so I can make good the adaptations that I assume are required. But right now Im in the dark on what the policy is and how it is being applied.

Many thanks

Hi Dom. I am glad to hear that you are interested in making a good article. There are a lot of great tips already on Wikipedia for how to get started. The first thing you'll want to check out is the guide to writing about companies. As you can imagine, we get a lot of advertising and this guide helps people get started. Secondly, check out this guide to writing your first article. It has a lot of good tips. Finally, I am unable to provide you with a copy of your article, as I am not an admin. However, Gwen Gale is an admin and is the person who originally deleted the article. She should be able to provide you a copy of the deleted material so you can work on it in your userspace. This will allow you to work on the article without fear of it being deleted. If you have any questions about getting started, formatting, or anything else at all, drop me a line. Cheers! Speedy deletion of Prillen/XEB/test.js

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TNX-Man 14:20, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Help!

I'm a new user here and I'm trying to create a new page. You recently deleted my page, or redirected it. I have made some major changes so that it wouldn't be deleted (i hope). But I'm still not sure about how to do some things on Wikipedia, like adding images (I've read everything about images on the site, but to no avail). Also, some aspects of my artist Info Box don't seem to work. I was wondering if you could help me with any of this? Mjunkie (talk) 20:42, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

I'd be happy to help. First, I redirected the page on Dero Goi to the band. Articles on people have to show individual notability (i.e. notability outside of the band). I didn't see that in the article. Secondly, images must be uploaded in order to display in article. Your account must be active for four days and you must have made ten edits in order to upload pictures (see WP:UPLOAD for more). Finally, if you have any specific questions about editing, feel free to ask. Cheers! TNX-Man 20:50, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

New Page Question

Hi, I submitted the request to add the article Kinetico and was denied due to it not being notable enough. Thanks for your response -- I just have a few questions. What kinds of information would add to the credibility of the company? Perhaps their website links or the inclusion of their patent (the only non-electric system powered by the force of moving water)? Or more sources? I would like to edit and then resubmit the article if possible (I'm very new at this!). I appreciate your help! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.196.76.250 (talk) 21:11, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

The best way to create an article is to cite reliable sources. These sources show independent, in-depth coverage of the subject (in this case, Kinetico). Next, look at this guideline. It will show you what articles about businesses should include. If you'd like, you can resubmit your article to the Articles for Creation page, or you can create an account (which has a ton of benefits) so you can create the article yourself. Either way, I'd be happy to help you with tips and pointers. Cheers! TNX-Man 21:37, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I resubmitted a revised Kinetico article. Does this resubmission meet the guidelines? Thanks!

It's a lot closer. The two references you provided are a little iffy. Remember, coverage in reliable sources has to be in-depth. The first source is a press release (which unfortunately does not qualify as reliable) and the second source makes a passing reference to Kinetico. The end of the WSJ article where Kinetico is mentioned is a good start. Are there reviews in trade magazines or independent product reviews? Those would be great references. Cheers! TNX-Man 22:06, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
I just thought of something else after I wrote the above reply. I don't mean to imply that product reviews or reviews in trade magazines are the ONLY references which would be great. They're just two of which I thought off the top of my head. Cheers! TNX-Man 22:07, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I resubmitted a revised Kinetico article. Thanks so much for your help -- I'm hoping that this article is Wikipedia worthy with my revisions. I included additional sources that discuss Kinetico in-depth and are written/posted by third-party sources. You'll see that the editors of these websites felt that it is newsworthy enough to warrant an article. Please let me know what you think. Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.196.76.250 (talk) 21:52, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Editor Assistance Request

Dear Tnxman307,

We are attempting to create a Wikipedia Page for Lou Stanasolovich who is founder, CEO and President of Legend Financial Advisors, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA. Our company Web site is www.legend-financial.com. We are having difficulty once we have created the page, it is being deleted and we are not sure what we are doing wrong. We are putting in descriptive content that uses a neutral point of view and we believe we are complying with Wikipedia's editorial guidelines. We are primarily seeking to post factual biopgraphical information about Mr. Stanasolovich. Mr. Stanasolovich is a highly regarded and an extremely accomplished financial advisory professional who is frequently sought after by the national media and industry conferences to speak about various topics. Our goal is to create a short, factual Wiki about him as his name is often searched upon in search engines due to the media recognition he receives. We have noticed that a friend of ours in the financial advisory profession, Harold Evensky has successfully built a Wiki article and we were attempting to model Lou's after his but it still got deleted. Could you please advise us as to how we can mold the content a certain way in order to create and sustain the article? Also, is there a Wiki customer service contact person we could speak with directly by telephone if we continue to experience problems? We are excited about being part of the Wikipedia community to provide objective information about one of the most prominent figures in the financial advisory profession. Please advise.

Best Regards,

Christopher J. Kail Legend Financial Advisors, Inc.

Deleted Article

Dear Admin, My article was deleted before its completion with an argument of Advertisement. I was writing a topic on a growing telecommunication company. Kindly help me for what should i do.--Encryptedangel (talk) 17:25, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

In order for articles to be kept (especially ones about companies), they must demonstrate notability. In other words, the company must have received in-depth, independent coverage in third-party sources. Also, the article must be written from a neutral point of view and cannot be advertising. If you'd like, I can set you up with a sandbox where you can improve the article without worrying about speedy deletion. You can also check out this guide to writing your first article. Finally, I am not admin, but you can read more about them here. Cheers! TNX-Man 17:32, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for responding

Fine. I am getting your point now. I would like a sandbox that might help me for this. Besides, I will request you to review the notability of an article i will re-write considering your points in my mind. Kindly provide me an email of yours so that i can send you a copy of article, or any other means by which I can have this favour of yours.--Encryptedangel (talk) 17:42, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

I think you've made a good start. The two interviews are great way to begin. What will really push it over the top are charted hits. Has the subject made any major charts? Also, are there any independent reviews of his albums/performances? See this guide for what Wikipedia is looking for. Also, be careful not to fall into the trap of promoting the artist. I've changed some of the links you've provided into references. One option may be asking an admin to move the article on to your user page where you can work on it without worrying about deletion. Getting images and diagrams for articles can be tough. Fortunately, there are some links that I think may help you. First of all, check out WP:Image#Finding images on the Internet. Also, look at Example requests for Permission. I think the second link may be more interesting to you, as it lists example letters you can send to ask for permission to duplicate images. In my opinion, images are some of the toughest things with which to deal on Wikipedia. Copyright, fair-use, semi-fair use, free content . . . it makes my head spin. I hope this helps! vuqo inc speedy deletion

hi, I just posted an article on vuqo inc and I wanted to know why it was termed under speedy deletion

I tagged the article for deletion because I do not think the company is notable. If you have any reliable sources that can show otherwise, please add them to the article. Cheers! TNX-Man 14:26, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, Yes the company is very notable. Its the first of its kind be it the coconut nectar distillation or haliya wines. Rich Cabael is the founder. All sources have been listed as references within the article these include publications from various magazines and also agriculture business articles on the company and its various products. I have listed over 15 websites proving the notability.

Let me know if this helps?

Hi, Thanks for the information. I will remove all peacock terms and try and improve the article by keeping it more neutral.

Need help Changing IP address to User Name

I edited history of an article, forgetting to log in. My ip address is in history of edits and I wish to replace that IP address with my User Name for security purposes. Please provide procedures for doing this. Thank you. DimeaDuzn (talk) 16:57, 1 December 2008 (UTC)DimeaDuzn

Unfortunately, that is not possible. Once an edit is made, it is impossible to change the username/IP address that made the edit. TNX-Man 17:02, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Regarding your response above to my question about changing to User name from IP address. I want to sure about your conclusions since I KNOW it is possible to retroactively change one's user name to display a new user name on old edits in the edit history section. I have seen this change successfully done first hand. Are you saying same cannot be done for IP addresses (i.e., changing an IP address to my new User Name). Seems odd that you can change from one user name to another -- but not from an IP address to a User Name. DimeaDuzn (talk) 19:35, 2 December 2008 (UTC)DimeaDuzn (talk)

I'm apologize, I should have been more clear. You can indeed change from one name to another (you can request a rename at WP:CHU or an usurpation of an existing name at WP:USURP). However, you cannot change edits from an IP to a username because there is no guarantee that all of the edits from the IP are from the same user. I hope this clears it up a little bit, but let me know if you have more questions. Cheers! TNX-Man 20:10, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

I have a simple question for you? Why do you find this informational site about a martial arts system different from any other martial article on wikipedia. And what bothers you that it is worth deleting. Let me know so I can change it or explain it to you. Please.

Deletion of Deep Voices

They have had releases on major labels in the electronic music genre. (Trance) I've added additional references for those. They have also recieved airplay (since 2005) on A state of trance Which is hosted by Armin Van Buuren. The archive of playlists can be found here. ASOT These are major accomplishments for this specific genre.

Sorry, I thought I put enough references there for them to be considered to be included on the site.

ok, so- no big deal if you need to delete. give me 24 hours. I needed to link from abu el Banat. I am working to improve the in-universe tone of some west wing ep pages. the tone on those pages needs a lot of work.

my motivation in creating the page was to give helpful links from abu el Banat to make less in-universe-sounding. fans who really adore this show put in a lot of time on such pages. as I said, the tone needs improvement but I don't think anyone wants to cut giant chunks of content. so, that's what's going on with that. thanks.

I have tagged the articles you created because they appear to be advertising. The best way to avoid this is to rewrite the articles from a neutral point of view. I'd be happy to help. The first thing you need to do is review this guideline. One important thing to add to articles is independent, in-depth, third party references. This excludes press releases and self-published material. Has the institute received in-depth coverage? If so, reference that in the article. TNX-Man 16:04, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the guidance. I've edited the Pri-Med listing. Please let me know what you think. Then, I'll move on to Pri-Med Institute. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elisa17 (talkcontribs) 16:39, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

I've added several references to both Pri-Med and Pri-Med Institute. Hopefully this will help. Elisa17 (talk) 21:14, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

It's a start. But the language of the articles is still very promotional. You may want to look over this and this. TNX-Man 21:19, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

You've got me working like a dog over here ; ) - ok, promotional copy deleted for both Pri-Med and Pri-Med Institute. Please, please tell me we are good to go : ) - thanks for your help! Elisa17 (talk) 21:46, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

I thought we were making progress but I've been deleted- help, please!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elisa17 (talkcontribs) 00:46, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately, an admin has deleted the article. What it shows is that the article still needs work. However, I have asked the admin who deleted the article if s/he could restore the content to your user page, where you can work on improving it. That way you won't have to start from scratch. Cheers! AfC active participant

Hi, I have added your name to this page which I am planning to transclude to the instruction page and the main project page. Basically I thought it would be a good idea to tell new reviewers who they can ask for help about the AfC process. Hope you are happy about this. If not, I will remove your name. Cheers, Martin 17:33, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Uploading an article

Hi Tnxman A while since we talked. I have another article I would like to put onto Wikipedia, it is complete and ready to publish and is in my sandbox 2, entitled Marchmont Estate. i can't remember how to upload it so it goes live as it were, can you please help? thanks Mark J Richards (talk) 10:00, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mark, excuse me butting in but I noticed your message. I have moved your article (looks great) to Marchmont Estate. Next time you can do it by clicking the "move" tab near the top of the screen. Martin 10:30, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Martin, kind of you. 86.158.69.1 (talk) 11:54, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the assist Martin! I'll reply to your above message later this morning, I'm kinda rushed right now. Cheers! TNX-Man 12:51, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

I cracked up when I saw your last edit summary. That was hilarious. heh. Keep up the good work man and don't that one slow you down. Thingg 15:58, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I guess I should Google articles from AfC before I move them, not afterwards. TNX-Man 16:08, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Idea

Hi Tnxman. I have an idea for WikiProject Articles for creation. Actually it would work with any WikiProject, but I suspect we are more susceptible than others for getting stuck doing routine tasks (reviewing articles) and not working on improving the articles we create. Earlier in the year someone organised the Featured Article Drive. However this ended without any featured articles being created. I think it was too ambitious. So my idea is that we start small. It's called the AfC challenge. Every participant will be asked to take one Stub-class article and bring it up to Start-class. We give them two weeks to do it. Should be easy. Then from Start-class to C-class, but give them a bit longer to do it. And so on, and see how far we can get. What do you think? I came to you first because I was thinking maybe you could help to organise it. Martin 19:11, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Hmm. I like the idea. Here are my initial thoughts. There are 1147 articles in Category:Stub-Class AFC articles. Maybe the best way to improve the quality is to turn it into a competition? Everyone who is interested signs up. The top (5, 10, 15, or whichever) competitors who turn stub articles into start-class article advance to the next round. In the next round, they have to turn start class articles into C-class articles. The top (5, 10, etc.) move on. And so on. Winner would get. . . well, something. That way, it improves articles across the project. Do we have a list of active participants in AfC? Let me know what you think! TNX-Man 19:34, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Some kind of competitive element would be a good idea, but I'm not sure we'd want to stop people from advancing to the next stage would we? (We're not going to get many anyway - if we got 10 people taking part I'd be quite happy.) We have the full list of participants and I suggest we just spam all of them. I've started work on a template to keep track of this. It's at User:Msgj/AfC challenge at the moment. Martin 22:28, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Maybe a running tally? Moving articles from stub to start is one point, start to C is two, etc.? Also, I like the idea of the bonus category (list to featured list). I think we'll need a couple of reviewers to confirm the improvements. Let me know what you think! TNX-Man 16:11, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Good idea. I've implemented the points into the table. Can you look at WikiProject Articles for creation/AfC challenge and let me know what you think? You could test the inputbox out as well please. Martin 13:08, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
The page looks really good. I've added my box to the page. I do have a question, though. Will the box only support one article in each class or can you work on 3 stub-to-starts, 5 A-to-FA's, etc.? Cheers! TNX-Man 14:23, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
No, at the moment it will only support one of each level. I hadn't thought of doing it any other way. My idea was to see how high we could get ... By the way, do you think the points are fair? You can alter the points for each level at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/AfC challenge/points. Got you watchlisted, so you don't need to bother with the talkbacks! Martin 14:32, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

(outdent) I thought that supporting multiple articles would encourage more participation. For example, if someone wants to improve a lot of stubs, but not necessarily B-class articles, that would be an option. Or if someone wants to focus on FA's exclusively, that would also be an option. I changed the points around some, as FA's take a lot of work and I thought the points should reflect that. Let me know what you think! TNX-Man 14:39, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I'm going to have to rework the templates to implement this. So in this case there should be a fixed end time of the competition? Should we run for two months? Martin 14:42, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Two months sounds good to me. On a slightly different tack, will you and I be reviewing the articles? And does that preclude us from competing? TNX-Man 14:45, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
No, I think everyone should be reviewing. Just not their own. I'm taking part. Obviously GA and FA have their own review processes, and if we get as far as A-class we'll have to organise some kind of peer review I think. Martin 14:48, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good. I think we'll need to change the instructions to let people know they can review others' submissions. I'll look at that here in a few minutes. TNX-Man 14:59, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
I've hacked away at the templates. You now have you to specify the "type" of each article you will work on (hmmm, maybe "class" would have been more intuitive...). At the moment it will take up to 5 articles, which should probably be enough for starters. Let me know what you think. Martin 17:03, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
No it seems I have broken the table. I'll try and fix it later. Martin 17:09, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

I fixed the table. It was driving me mad. Eventually it was this edit which seemed to do it. I think it's a hard-coded carriage return. Right, so we're in business. I'll have to choose my stub. That's some kind of glorified stub you've chosen, with inline references and an infobox! Martin 08:35, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey! The references were mine! :) Actually, I just picked one of the first ones listed. The next step is to let everyone associated with AfC know about the competition. Is there an automated way to distribute the notice or should I go ahead and copy/paste? TNX-Man 12:47, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Apologies! Seems you are a quick worker. I'll use AWB to paste them on I think. Martin 13:54, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Hey, you didn't get spammed. Are you not actually on the list of participants?? Martin 15:03, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
How odd. I have added myself to the list. Thanks for the heads up! TNX-Man 15:19, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I declined the speedy deletion on this article because it makes a weak assertion of notability. I think the article would likely not survive an AfD, however, so feel free to take it there if you want. Also, kudos on your message/instructions above - that is very polite and I think a wonderful thing for new and confused editors to see if they have questions. Karanacs (talk) 15:59, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I remember when I was starting out, this place could be a little intimidating. I've nominated the article for deletion, as I cannot find any sources or other indications of notability. Cheers! TNX-Man 16:05, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Raoul Perre Page...

Hi Tnxman307, thanks for making changes to the page I created, especially your "(moved HOW (graffiti artist) to Raoul Perre: moving to actual name)" Edit. I was wondering if you could do the same with the page I created for his twin brother? I created a page for his name (Davide Perre) that redirects to his graffiti name (NOSM), but I'm a bit new to this and the way you did it with Raoul's page seems to make more sense. Thanks! Jaikod (talk) 17:45, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

I've fixed up the pages for you. NOSM is now a disambiguation page and the main article is at Davide Perre. Just so you know, once your account is autoconfirmed (which means it's been active for four days and made at least ten edits), you can move pages also. Cheers! TNX-Man 18:09, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

I nominated the article for deletion as I was unable to find any in-depth independent coverage in reliable sources. Re: Hi

If I may jump in here, the reason the restriction was put in place was due in large part to the Seigenthaler incident. With Wikipedia's ascension to the list of top ten websites, the risk of potential BLP issues was deemed to be too great to allow unregistered users to create pages. Cheers! TNX-Man 22:09, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Articles, not pages. There is no reason for anonymous users not to be able to create non-article pages. They can already create talk pages, remember -- Gurch (talk) 22:45, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I was planning to do a little writing on the article, an interesting area where I've done some research, but it did need a redirect from this name. I have been unwelcomed to edit the article, though. Still, the redirect is with purpose. --69.225.11.246 (talk) 20:35, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Wrong tagging for speedy deletion

Hi Tnxman307. Thank you for your work on patrolling pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I just wanted you to inform that I declined to delete Terror Inside, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion under criterion A1 because of the following concern: Just because an article is short, it does not mean, A1 applies. Context existed already when you tagged it. As you were quite fast when doing so, you might want to read WP:DEMOLISH as well. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion and especially what is considered Non-criteria. In future you should rather tag such pages for proposed deletion or file them at articles for deletion. Regards SoWhy 16:13, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

I noticed you saw the error yourself, which I congratulate you on. In future, please remember that even "X is a 2008 thriller" does in fact establish context. Regards SoWhy 16:15, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up. I was patrolling new pages when I came across that one and read "2008 thriller", not "2008 thriller film". Feel free to apply wet fish as necessary. Cheers! TNX-Man 16:34, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
I always found that kind words and heads ups work far better. Just take the hint from WP:DEMOLISH and be careful when tagging something a minute after creation and be careful with tags like A1, they are to be read very strictly. Have a nice day. SoWhy 16:43, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I removed the speedy tag, as there's no weak assertions of notability (ie the fights) but an AfD might not be a bad idea. I'd also suggest asking for an expert opinion from a relevant WikiProject. --Dweller (talk) 16:34, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

"No" weak assertions of notability? I guess maybe you meant there "are" weak assertions of notability? :) Anyways, I'll review the article and think about prod-ding or AfD. Thanks! TNX-Man 16:38, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
You got it... thanks. --Dweller (talk) 16:52, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

watchlist question

On my watchlist, it says something like:

User talk:Notcesia; 14:18 .. (+1,398) .. Tnxman307 etc

The (+1,398) is green, but some have a (-) in red.

What do these numbers mean?

Thx, Notcesia (talk) 21:34, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

It's the number of bytes added or subtracted to the article by the last edit. +405 means 405 characters were added. Cheers! TNX-Man 21:57, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

edits to sanitary pads and tampons

you are wrong in deleting my edits. Seventh Generation have a link in tampons and that is commercial. I did create the first certified organic cotton tampon and biodegradable pads and I have 20 years experience and innovation in this area. What I added was additional information. Already there are references to Tampax, Lilets, OB, these are commercial brands. I have spent the last 20 years campaigning to bring organic and environmentally sound sanitary products to women. The categories as they are on Wiki are not up too date, do not define what products are made from and the effect that they have on the planet, hence the additional links to the raw material pages on Wikipedia. I suggest that what I added and edited was correct and independent and in the spirit of Wikipedia. If you remove my edits without recall to why they are removed, other than you comment that I am advertising. Then what is Seventh Generation or Lilets or Tampax or moon pads etc doing with links to their websites and references to their products? I merely added truthful and verifiable information to thiese two sites. It is verifiable that Natracare did create the first organic cotton tampon in 1995, the first biodegradable and compostable disposable sanitary pad in 1996. It exists in 46 countries around the world - So why remove the edits? The content as it stands is incorrect and out of date. I ask you to reinstate my edits on both tampons and sanitary pads, otherwise the claim that these pages can be edited (and I did it with full authority and knowledge for the industry and without prejudice) is a mockery. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tamponalert (talkcontribs) 14:49, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately, Wikipedia does not accept advertising. You were correct about advertising in Sanitary napkin, so I have removed everything that looked like advertising. If there is more, please feel free to let me know so it can be removed. Remember, just because others have inserted advertising, does not mean you can as well. If you do wish to insert info about Natracare, it must be supported by independent reliable, third-party sources. Cheers! TNX-Man 15:07, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Ottawa Junior Riders

Good Afternoon, I have noticed that you had decline my addition of this article, stating I had no reliable sources. I have listed 5 websites where I have retrieved the information, 4 of which were independant of both myself and the Ottawa Junior Riders. I also happen to know the information to be true and correct, as I have played for the organization and know all of the players (except Pat Fleming) personally. I hope you will reconsider my article. Thank you.

I looked again and decided there was enough there for an article. You can now see Ottawa Junior Riders is in the mainspace. Cheers! TNX-Man 19:43, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

BALLARAT RED DEVILS

Thanks for getting back to me so soon. All i want is a normal Wikipedia page (ie Reservoir Strikers). How do i go about it.

And what is a sandbox

Duncan —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rduncansmith (talkcontribs) 14:32, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Well, like I mentioned earlier, you must show why the Red Devils are notable. In other words, provide multiple independent reliable sources that cover the team. A sandbox is a place where you can work on improving your article. It's not actual article, but material there usually isn't marked for deletion while you're working on improving it. If you would like to work in a sandbox simply click -> User:Rduncansmith/Sandbox and start editing. If you have any other questions, let me know. Cheers! TNX-Man 14:41, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks again for the very quick reply. With regaards to reliable sources the club has an official website, the Ballarat Courier is the local paper and the FFV control football in Victoria, Austrlia.

Is this what you mean or am i a bit slow

Duncan —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rduncansmith (talkcontribs) 14:51, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

That's a good start. The next step is to work those references into your article. Check out this guide for more tips. Also, you have to be sure that your article is presented from a neutral point of view, as Wikipedia does not allow fansite-type material. Cheers! TNX-Man 15:10, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks again. By references into your article do you mean the 'BLUE' words that you can click on and they go to another page. I am looking at the 'SOUTH MELBOURNE FC' page and this is what i would like my to look like. Is it possible.

I will also definatly present the page from a neutral point of view

Duncan Rduncansmith (talk) 15:19, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Well, the blue links that go to another Wikipedia page are called wikilinks. You can make those by placing double brackets around a word. So [[South Melbourne FC]] produces South Melbourne FC. References are independent sources that back up what you are saying in the article. For example, you can't say "The Red Devils are the best team ever." However, you can say "According to Somesuch Paper, the Red Devils were the best team this past season", because that is supported by an independent source. TNX-Man 15:45, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

OK. I am off to bed as it is 2:50am in Australia. Will you be abole to help me in 20 hours or so as you have been a great help and i think i am starting to get somewhere.

Duncan Rduncansmith (talk) 15:49, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Well, I'm here quite often, so feel free to drop me a line. I'm happy to help people get started here, as I know that things can be a little intimidating. Cheers! TNX-Man 15:56, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks again. One last qustion before i hit the sack i can get at least 5 or 6 website that will show that the info that i am say is correct, but how do i link them to my page.

Duncan Rduncansmith (talk) 15:59, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

The best way is to put the link between a <ref> tag and a </ref> tag. So if you make a statement for which you want to have a reference, you would say "Thisandthat Paper listed the Red Devils as a team to watch this season. <ref>Thisandthat Paper. July 20th, Section E, page 2.</ref>" This produces a superscript numeral and will list everything between <ref> and </ref> at the bottom of the page. Check out World War II for a very long list of references and what they look like. Cheers! TNX-Man 16:07, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

BALLARAT RED DEVILS

I am back. I have been going along great thanks to you and a bit of clever stuff from myself, but have struck a problem. At the top of the page their is a box on the side that has the team logo, ground name, current coach, Chairman and so on. How do you get that box there and info into it.

Duncan —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rduncansmith (talkcontribs) 06:05, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

You are probably looking for {{Football club infobox}}. Simply click on that link and it should have some code you can copy and paste to your sandbox. You can then fill in the parameters as needed. Cheers! TNX-Man 21:07, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
