Irish articles
Please see MOS:IMOS BIOPLACE, For people anywhere else in Ireland at any time, "Ireland" should be used. Should pipelinking be considered necessary, Ireland can be used after 1922
. FDW777 (talk) 14:39, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
- @FDW777: But that doesn't apply to people born before 1922. I don't see the issue in linking. The Optimistic One (talk) 14:42, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, it does. It says
For people anywhere else in Ireland at any time, "Ireland" should be used
. So it does apply to people before 1922. See also Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Ireland-related articles/Archive 8#Kingdom of Ireland, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Ireland-related articles/Archive 9#Historic institutions and no doubt other archived discussions where piped links like Ireland were objected to because the same standard is never applied to articles about England, Scotland and Wales. - If you would like to change the consensus, please start a new discussion at WT:IMOS. European American
Why did you label Tommy Wiseau a European American with this edit? Is there a reliable source that states that he explicitly self identifies as "European American"? Mitchumch (talk) 13:06, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
- Please ignore my question. I should have been more diligent in reviewing the article. Mitchumch (talk) 14:33, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
First and last parameters
Please don't ever add them again to character infoboxes as they are not properly supported by Template:Infobox character and will soon be deprecated. Instead, follow the example here. Favre1fan93 was right to revert your edits on Daniel Sousa. --Kailash29792 (talk) 04:50, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Kailash29792: I mean why are they going to be deprecated? The current format is just unnecessary. The year is just fine without adding the full date to make everything more bloated. I much prefer the older parameters. The Optimistic One (talk) 14:06, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Kailash29792: And you could have asked me in a more polite manner. Your tone isn't getting you anywhere The Optimistic One (talk) 22:35, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

The page Draft:Drake & Josh has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://drakejosh.wordpress.com/2009/11/21/believe-me-brother/ etc. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. Six Ulster counties of Northern Ireland
Thanks. Yes there are nine counties in Ulster as is made clear in the text (see Partition). But the six in Northern Ireland are Ulster counties and that perhaps is important to mention here at the outset so as to account for the term Ulster Unionism.05:29, 16 September 2020 (UTC)ManfredHugh (talk)

Hi. I have a question. I watched the interview and, as far as I know, he just says he and Gayda divorced, but not when. 2020 is the date when he informed, but not the date when the couple divorced. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:19, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- @HHH Pedrigree: Can you find any sources about it? It more than likely happened this year. The Optimistic One (talk) 19:16, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- More likely, but not confirmed. The source only says they divorced, but not when. Any interpretation is WP:OR. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 09:25, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

This is to warn you of your recent Vandilism on the article History of WWE. Your addition of the so called "covid-19 era" is pure Original Research which is strictly forbidden as per Wikipedia guidlines, and pandemics like Spanish Flu existed before, and though WWWF wasn't established in 1918, the wrestling industry did and was affected by it too just like any other businesses, just because a business does not function as usual under a pandemic situation doesn't mean the start of a new era. A new era begins when WWE themselves announces it, and when there are Reliable Sources, but your edit was entirely your personal opinion which is not allowed. You have been warned before for such vandalism, most of which have been archived as viewable on your talk page revision history. next time you vandalize the article based on your personal views you will be reported and may be blocked form editing. Please refrain form it and see the WP:NOR guideline very carefully! But asThank you. Dilbaggg (talk) 04:42, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Dilbaggg: Don't you mean vandalism? Also, why don't you actually do some research next time before sending me this nonsense. Vandalism is a deliberate deconstruction of an article. I believe you owe me an apology and a redact. The Optimistic One (talk) 21:27, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
- Maybe I was a bit harsh on you, we all make mistakes, I am supposed to Assume Good Faith, and I apologise for that. But hope you understand your edit was original research, which is not allowed. Just wait for WWE to announce the next era, then you may add it after they do. Best wishes. Dilbaggg (talk) 23:47, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Infobox
Why revert the infobox to the "clumpier" format? The major/minor/date fields offer a more consistent display of this kind of information of e.g. franchise/episode/date. --EEMIV (talk) 15:02, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- @EEMIV: I just don't feel like their the better choice. I prefer the simpler parameters. The Optimistic One (talk) 16:11, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- Fair enough, and thanks for the quick response. I lean toward taking advantage of the granular parameters in the template because there might be benefits to e.g. scraping Wikipedia content over to things like Wikidata and then on to other projects that benefit from that repository. That said, I don't know whether that is actively happening regarding this particular template, so not worth fussing over now -- and for the general Wikipedia reader, the information is still clear. But in general I think it's advantageous to take advantage of opportunities to discretely structure data. --EEMIV (talk) 18:31, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- @EEMIV: That's good. Glad we're aligned. Appreciate hearing your opinion. Enjoy your day! The Optimistic One (talk) 19:16, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Piemonte Calcio
Piemonte Calcio is the fictional name the videogame FIFA has had to give Juventus in their game due to licensing issues with PES. It's non-existent, and shouldn't really be made part of Wikipedia. Nehme1499 22:17, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Nehme1499: I just think it's convenient that way. When readers unfamiliar with the club search for Piemonte, they're actually searching for Juventus; not the video game. The Optimistic One (talk) 22:28, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

Tolkien "series"
Hi, and thanks for your well-meant intention to improve the Tolkien character infoboxen. However, while the "first appeared in" and "last..." may work brilliantly when an SF author has put a character in 13 of 25 nearly-identical books about travels with ray-gun in hand to planets A thru Z, the same is not at all true of Tolkien. Basically, all the LOTR characters appear in the book, which isn't a trilogy, and then (or is it before) they appear in Book of Lost Tales or Unfinished Tales or what have you, and then (or was it before) they are mentioned in a footnote in the Silmarillion, and suddenly the reader is confronted with a series that ... isn't a time-series in any sense that can be discerned by anybody without a) an SF planet-sized brain b) fluent Anglo-Saxon and c) intimate knowledge of the whole of Tolkien's legendarium as spelt out in mind-bogglingly boring detail by Christopher T ... in short, trying to jam the thing into a First ... Last sequence is doomed to miserable failure, and ... perhaps I've made my meaning clear. It doesn't work, basta. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:54, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

- For the record, this is a BLP violation performed through a POV. Not only you didn't read the cases when it is used, you directly enforced it. (CC) Tbhotch™ 22:11, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Tbhotch: How? He was trailed and convicted on two charges, which is stated in the article right now for you to see. I just simply added the information into his infobox in good faith? And what do you mean I directly enforced it!? Elaborate further The Optimistic One (talk) 22:58, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- As you clearly didn't read Aoi's summary: "This template is generally reserved for convicted serial killers, gangsters, mass murderers, old west outlaws, murderers, mafia members, fugitives, FBI 10 Most Wanted, serial rapists, mobsters, and other notorious criminals. [...] Infobox criminal is rarely used where notability is not due primarily to the person being a convicted criminal." (CC) Tbhotch™ 23:01, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Tbhotch: Yeah I read it, and did I revert Aoi's edit??? Also I done that after reading Adam Johnson's bio, who also faced similar circumstances to Drake Bell. I believe your overreacting to this matter. The Optimistic One (talk) 23:08, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
