The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Gràce) moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Gràce). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because future albums require the title, cover image, release date, track listing, and other critical information as required in an album article, of which the only available information at the moment is the album title and a period of when the album will be released. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. – robertsky (talk) 05:13, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

Phoebe the Flamingo (statue) moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Phoebe the Flamingo (statue). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources, it has too many problems of language or grammar, it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and What are the numbers after sentences supposed to represent? If they're references - include them. Remove the unencyclopedic language - this is an encyclopedia, not a review site. Don't use Wikipedia's voice to say things like it "captivates both visitors and locals". I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Charli XCX "kamala is brat" statement on Twitter-X, July 2024.png
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Charli XCX "kamala is brat" statement on Twitter-X, July 2024.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation of https://x.com/charli_xcx/status/1815182384066707861 and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Image source problem with File:BUCEES STATUE.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:BUCEES STATUE.png.
This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.
If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:41, 9 August 2024 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:41, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BuceesRichmond.jpg The former image on the page depicted the exact same artwork and didn't get flagged. I don't understand why that one didn't? FloridaMan21 (talk) 01:52, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- Just to clarify the above, there's no freedom of panorama for 3D works of art publicaly installed in the US per c:COM:FOP US. This means that the copyright status of the statue you photographed also needs to be taken into account. Your photo is a WP:Derivative work (see also c:COM:DW) which means you "own" the copyright of the photo itself but can't claim copyright ownership of the photographed work. Essentially, two copyright licenses are needed for a photo like this: one for the photo and one for the photographed work. So, unless you're also the copyright holder of the photographed work, Wikipedia will be unable to keep this photo without some way of verifying the work's copyright holder's WP:CONSENT.Just for reference, the same thing also applies to File:BUCEES MASCOT.png since maccot characters are often considered eligible for copyright protection per c:COM:CB#COSTUME and c:COM:DW#If I take a picture of an object with my own camera, I hold the copyright to the picture. Can't I license it any way I choose? Why do I have to worry about other copyright holders?.As for File:BuceesRichmond.jpg, that file was uploaded about a month ago and it's possible that nobody has noticed it until. However, it has the same problem as the one you uploaded and will likely end up being deleted unless that problem can be resolved. There's no formal vetting of images uploaded either to Wikipedia or Commons; so, problems only tend to be noticed after the fact (sometimes quite a while after the fact). So, just because someone uploaded a file doesn't mean they should've uploaded said file. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:02, 9 August 2024 (UTC) ; post edited 02:09, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how to license it, is there anywhere I can find out? Also, shouldn't the previous image https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BuceesRichmond.jpg be tagged?— Preceding unsigned comment added by FloridaMan21 (talk • contribs) 11:05, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification. I will try to add double licenses for Both images I uploaded. FloridaMan21 (talk) 02:16, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- The Commons file has been tagged for speedy deletion/review; that's a Commons file, though, and its issues will need to be resolved there. Often in cases like this, the photographed work of art can be treated as non-free content with a non-free license and non-free use rationale being added to the file's page for the work in addition to the free license provided for the photo; however, I don't think the way your trying to use either photo in the Buc-ee's article would satisfy Wikipedia's non-free content use policy; so, you might want to ask about that at WT:NFCC or WP:MCQ to see what others might think being trying to do that. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:25, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- Can I reupload the file containing a double license and request the current ones for deletion? FloridaMan21 (talk) 02:26, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- There's no need for you to do that since another license and information about the provenance can be added to the each file's page for the photgraphed work; however, it's not clear what the "double license" you're referring to might be. If you're not the artist who created the statue or the person who designed the mascot costume, you can't just claim copyright ownership over those person's creative works just so you can avoid the files you uploaded being deleted. Only the copyright holder, in principle, release their work under an acceptable free license. You can do this for your photo but not for what you photographed, unless you're also the copyright holder of that. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:58, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry I was unsure. For the mascot, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:20180206_UM-NW_Benny_The_Bull_7DM27126.jpg how does that stand as fair use? FloridaMan21 (talk) 03:45, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- It's very hard to answer "What about this file?" or "How come this file is OK?" types of questions because often its hard to make a one-to-one comparision of different files; moreover, as I posted above, files aren't formally vetted before they're uploaded so basically its assumed that the uploader knows what they're doing until somebody starts questioning whether that's the case. The originally uploaded version of the "Benny the Bull" image could possibly be argued to be a case of de minimis or otherwise incidental inclusion per c:COM:DM#An example because the mascot might be part of a much larger scene and is not necessarilyy the focus of the photo. That could be a judgement call depending upon you ask. The cropped enlarge version of the mascot, however, seems to have a much higher chance of being copyright infringing because it does bascially focus on the mascot itself. That's probably something that would need to be first discussed at c:COM:VPC or c:COM:AN and then perhaps via a c:COM:DR. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:40, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello FloridaMan21! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 03:19, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
