I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the discussion. Selecting a new title for the article was complex, with many interacting factors to consider. Nevertheless, we kept the discussion on-track and well-organized. Additionally, I have awarded eleven participants with 2024 CrowdStrike-related special thanks for their crucial and unique contributions.

Thank you for choosing to start the discussion without proposing a specific new title. Several participants criticized this choice, but it was absolutely the right call: an open-ended discussion was exactly what we needed. May your days be free of both outrages and outages.

Corporal

Your suggestion of describing the outages as CrowdStrike-related went unnoticed for several days, but it ultimately brought us out of the depths of no consensus and allowed us to craft a title that almost all of us are happy with.

The Nth User

Thank you for your suggestion of 2024 CrowdStrike update outage. It was one of my favorites, adding information ("caused by an update") and at the same time letting us drop the weasel-word "related". Sadly, noun piles seem to be out of style.

Lowellian

Thank you for your insightful comment on the benefits of including CrowdStrike in the title.

Wugapodes

Thank you for your insightful comment on the drawbacks of including CrowdStrike in the title.

Jax 0677

Your well-timed initiative to add a poll put us on the path to consensus. Thank you for your patience with my meddling and for your aid in improving the polling instructions.

Local Variable

Thank you for identifying when it was time to shift back from polling to discussion.

Gluonz

Thank you for ensuring that we discussed IT vs information technology vs technology vs tech early enough that it did not cause a last-minute delay.

Fuzheado

Thank you for your well-argued comments and for this excellent self-refactor which helped keep each section of the discussion focused on its intended topic(s).

Trigenibinion

Thank you for being the first to !vote "Wait" in the motion to conclude. Several subsequent comments echoed and built on your concerns, and at least one participant changed their early "Snow" to "Wait". You have demonstrated that the false early-consensus effect can apply at the meta-level, too.

Your insights into the strengths of each procedure will improve my ability to invent new procedures that work. Your insights will also improve my ability to choose an appropriate procedure in any given discussion.

Thank you for your amazing diplomacy. This was like a movie and with all the chaos happening with the requested move. The poll and stages were a great idea, not to mention your title, which not even the most notable of News stations could seem to figure out, and yet you did. I'm a relatively new and young editor, so these are the events that inspire me and other editors to strive for the best. Here is a Barnstar award for you 🫡.

The Barnstar of Diplomacy
You have earned this my friend. Thank you for setting up the poll and solving this disaster. FloridaMan21 (talk) 14:54, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

I also granted you one on your main User page. Warm regards FloridaMan21
