thanks and milhist
Very nice script! Could you please add WP:MILHIST to the listing? Kirill [talk] [prof] 20:51, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

thanks and about a TOC
To Svick and Smallman12q: Thanks so much for developing this replacement system for WikiProject cleanup information. It will be a big help for WikiProject National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). One small question/suggestion: i notice the cleanup report by category provides many separate useful sections listing articles needing different types of cleanup. For the NRHP wikiproject, the page is quite long and includes many types. I wonder if your report could be amended to provide a TOC at the top, so that the different types of cleanups would be made clear. The top TOC could provide, or not provide, a tally of the number of items of each type. Just a simple TOC listing the types of cleanups and allowing an editor to jump down to one of possible interest for them to tackle would be a help. You could consider this or not, no big deal. Mainly: thanks for developing this great tool! --doncram (talk) 20:55, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Done, listing by category now contains a TOC with a number of articles for each category. Svick (talk) 22:14, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Request
Please at WP:MED to the list. Also, we had a filtered list for Top-importance articles here, and if it's easy to do, then that would be nice. But the main listing is probably more important. WhatamIdoing (talk) 20:58, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- WikiProject Medicine already was there and you can sort by importance (or other columns) by clicking on that column heading. Svick (talk) 22:27, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
WikiProject Architecture

WP:FA and GA
Hi Svick! Thanks so much for getting this up and running! Would you be able to make cleanup listings for featured and good articles? I don't know if the listings run off WikiProject categories or banners, but featured articles are part of Category:Wikipedia featured articles and good articles are in Category:Good articles. It was extremely helpful when Wolterbot made listings for these two groups - and it would be just as helpful if you could as well :) Thanks, Dana boomer (talk) 23:12, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Done and done. I'm using talk page categories, and both good and featured articles have their own. Svick (talk) 23:56, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, less than an hour response time - impressive :) Thank you very much! Dana boomer (talk) 11:59, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks and "order by cleanup priority" suggestion
Big thanks for reviving this tool - Since the BLPRFCs at the beginning of the year I've been saying that this is the sort of maintenance tool that should be run from the foundation level, but as they don't seem interested in any practical, ground level work, it lies in limbo for a year until someone like you two comes along and puts in the effort. You are a wiklegends.
But one suggestion, could you somehow reorder the list so that the most important cleanup cats - ie BLP related, copyvio, hoax, attack etc are listed first, with the style related ones later? Twinkle has two lists, maybe use those lists as a guide. Regards The-Pope (talk) 00:08, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- I could reorder them, if you provided the order of the categories. The current list of all used categories can be seen at [1]. Svick (talk) 00:15, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
thanks and about a template
Hey, thanks for generating this script, it would be great if there was a simple template summarising this data with a link to the tool-server page that we could put on our wikiproject page and hopefully nudge people towards fixing the issues, something like the wikiproject version 1.0 release template or even as simple as the BLP listing tool template. Ajbpearce (talk) 20:48, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- What “BLP listing tool template” do you mean? Svick (talk) 21:15, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, what I meant was a simple wikified page (ala DASHbot - see our wikiproject page) which would be a little nicer than the toolserver list. Thanks Again! Ajbpearce (talk) 08:25, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Smallman12q is now working on that. Svick (talk) 21:17, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Template?
A list of articles needing cleanup associated with this project is available. See also the tool's wiki page and the index of WikiProjects.
Thanks for the new tool. Do you have a nice box template that one can add to a project page to link to the tool? --NJR_ZA (talk) 05:53, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Taxobox cleanup
Is there any chance that you could add the various subcategories of Category:Tree of Life cleanup (except Category:Automatic taxobox cleanup and its children) to your cleanup listings? Thanks. --Stemonitis (talk) 14:44, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- Now that is an odd cleanup category. Both talk pages and articles? The tool currently supports only dated categories, but it should be fairly easy to add non-dated ones too. So, yeah, I'll probably add those categories there, but only for articles and not talk pages. Svick (talk) 23:46, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you. Most of the articles are marked on the article, not the talk page, so that will be fine. --Stemonitis (talk) 05:44, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Duplicate entries
Hi, thanks for the tool to provide the listings again. On the category listing there are duplicate entries produced, in some cases, any chance of suppressing the duplicates. You can see this on this listing under section "Articles needing additional references". Keith D (talk) 00:52, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- That was because those articles are members of Category:Lincolnshire articles by quality twice: once for the class category and once for Category:Lincolnshire articles with comments. I have fixed it now. Svick (talk) 22:26, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. Keith D (talk) 01:35, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Israel
Hi- Can you please create a new cleanup listing for WikiProject Israel? I will add the {{WikiProject cleanup listing}} template to the page. TIA! --Sreifa (talk) 07:23, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

WP:UKGEO
Could you add a cleanup listing for Wikipedia:WikiProject UK geography. Just to warn you this is likely to be a big list :-(— Rod talk 16:10, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- Not that big. It's 32nd among the projects I process, two positions below WikiProject Politics of the United Kingdom. Svick (talk) 23:48, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've added the template and alerted project members - hopefully we can start to reduce this.— Rod talk 08:14, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

- As pointed out there, the article was a member of the category Articles lacking sources from December 2009, so it was listed correctly. Svick (talk) 13:58, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Could you add a cleanup listing for WikiProject United States? WolterBot is no longer active, the WikiProject could use a big cleanup listing in any article in Category:WikiProject United States articles or the project banner template. JJ98 (Talk) 20:23, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
On wiki listing by type of problem
Good job creating a new cleanup listing. I like the sortability, but I miss the on wiki category breakdown that WalterBot was generating (like this one). Are there any plans to bring back this functionality? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 16:21, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

{{movenotice}}?
Firstly, this listing is really useful; thanks. Unless I'm mistaken, it looks like articles tagged with {{movenotice}} aren't included in the cleanup listing? Is it possible to add them? That would be useful. Thanks! Mlm42 (talk) 04:07, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
- No, they aren't included, because that template doesn't use add any category and my tool relies on them. If you change that template to add a category to all articles it is used on, I could add it. Svick (talk) 14:53, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- I see; I think I've now changed the template to add the articles to Category:Articles to be moved (hopefully it worked..). I don't know if this should be a hidden category, or how to make it hidden.. but hopefully it's enough for the tool to work. Thanks, Mlm42 (talk) 18:36, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- I think using a category specifically for this template is better than using one that already exists for slightly different purpose, so I changed it to Category:Proposed moves. I have added the category to the listing, so it will show on the next run. But I noticed that lots of articles have this template on their talk page and those won't be reported by the tool. Svick (talk) 19:46, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Good idea. Thanks a lot! Mlm42 (talk) 20:05, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- By the way, it looks like many (most?) of the talk pages that contain the template have already been moved, or at least the discussion is over. Mlm42 (talk) 20:09, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

New categories?
Is there any chance you could include these categories:
- Category:Pages with DOIs inactive since 2008
- Category:Pages with DOIs inactive since 2009
- Category:Pages with DOIs inactive since 2010
For some reason, they haven't made one yet for 2011 that I can find. Also, is there any way that you can have the listing pull from talk page categories, but list the article? (Or really, even listing the talk page would be helpful...) If so, Category:Wikipedia requested photographs and its gazillion subcats might be kind of nice to have listed. If not, no big deal, just something that popped into my head. Thank you very, very much for getting this listing back up and running - it is an amazing help to many projects. Dana boomer (talk) 02:49, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

21:45, 28 June 2011 (UTC)- +1 for the dump to a wiki page, rather than only a dynamic toolserver output. The big advantages, even if it's a once a week output is you can track cleanup rates over time and also the cleanup list will show up on the what links here tab, so you might get more people aware of the tool and help out with the cleanup tasks. Thanks for your work so far on getting this back up and running. The-Pope (talk) 09:39, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
- As for the tracking of history, I think that would be much easier by directly reading the database. Since I don't delete anything, the data is already there. It's just that I'm not using it for the moment. But yeah, I can see the point for on-wiki listings and I'll try to get to them when I find the time.

G'day Svick, Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket is pretty good at sorting and organising, but for some reason never seemed to have a WolterBot cleanup list. I think it's time we grabbed a Svick version.
Also, have you looked into making an "on-wiki" version each time it updates? I've been manually cutting and pasting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian rules football list into Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian rules football/Cleanup listing, but I sometimes don't get around to doing so. Cheers, The-Pope (talk) 11:08, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

A request for Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada
Hi Svick, I would appreciate it if you could add Wikiproject Canada to the cleanup listing. Also, for personal curiousity, is it possible to get a listing by category rather than a specific project? Thanks! Resolute 04:41, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, the listing is done. If you want to have a list of all articles in some cleanup category, regardless of project, just look at that category. I don't think it makes much sense to make such listing because of that (and because it would be too huge for most categories).
User<Svick>.Talk();
17:57, 5 March 2012 (UTC)- Excellent, thanks! And sorry, I worded my category request poorly. I have an unofficial project going for articles related to the Calgary Flames, so was curious how difficult it would be to see what articles within Category:Calgary Flames and its subcats (or if that is too much of a pain, just Category:Calgary Flames players) have maintenance tags on them. Thanks, Resolute 18:08, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, right, I misunderstood. I can easily make listing for some specific category (but not all subcategories). Is there some page in the Wikipedia namespace I could link the listing to? If you don't already have one, maybe your project could benefit from creating it?

18:20, 5 March 2012 (UTC)- WP:HOCKEY is already enrolled in your overall listing, and I never felt a need to create a task force for my little obsession since it is really a one-man project. WikiProject Tennis
Hi,
Did some cleanup work for the WikiProject Tennis based on your cleanup list but when I generate a new list it doesn't reflect the changes and seems outdated. How can I get an up-to-date list? Thx. --Wolbo (talk) 10:06, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- What do you mean by “generate a new list”? There is no way for you to do that. The list for each project is updated weekly, but I can update a specific list earlier, if you want.
User<Svick>.Talk();
14:46, 20 May 2012 (UTC)- Hi, on WP Tennis there is a section Cleanup listing which has a link to your cleanup tool and I thought this generated a new cleanup list just like I can update the quality assessment overview by clicking on the update link (update project data). I understand from your comment that this is not the case so if you could update the cleanup list for the Tennis project that would be appreciated. Just for my understanding, is there a technical reason why the cleanup list can not be generated by the editors like the articles by quality and importance overview? Cheers. --Wolbo (talk) 15:01, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- I have updated the listing. But if you meant the summary on the page you linked to, then that is not updated automatically. And there isn't really a technical reason why you can update the listing manually, it's mostly that it would require some work from me and I don't have the time to do it.

logging of totals
Hi there, I was wondering if you could log the outcome from each project's list generation into a single text log file so that we could easily check how each project is doing. It really only needs to basically be the headline summary that you aleady put on the output pages (maybe tabulated, maybe plain CSV instead of text sentences? Whatever is easiest to generate & use). ie:
- WikiProject Baseball/Old-time Base Ball task force generated on 10 June 2012, 12:57:33 UTC. Of the 2576 articles in this project 268 or 10.4 % are marked for cleanup, with 313 issues in total.
- WikiProject Baseball generated on 10 June 2012, 13:57:33 UTC. Of the 22576 articles in this project 22576 or 100 % are marked for cleanup, with 31333 issues in total.
- etc
It might need to be archived every few months to avoid getting too big, but I think it would be a very useful addition. Thanks The-Pope (talk) 04:29, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Fortunately, I thought something like this might be useful to someone one day, so I keep everything in my database. Thanks to that, creating a history table was quite easy, see for example history for WikiProject Baseball. To get to listing for other projects, you can edit the URL, or use a link from the index. If you want the listing is CSV format, add
&format=csv
to the URL: [5].User<Svick>.Talk();
11:59, 26 June 2012 (UTC)- fantastic! Thanks. Can you also pull the data into a single "all projects" chronological list, either all-time or split into the weekly runs? I managed to create one using excel's macro & web queries, but it was slow to retrieve all 575 history files! The-Pope (talk) 00:02, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
- I have added a listing of history of all projects by month, for example [6]. You'll have to wait a while for it to load (because the database is not optimized), but it was simpler for me than doing it by week.

WikiProject Olympics
When you are next able to do a run (I assume that there are still toolserver issues tripping the runs?), can you please add WikiProject Olympics to the list, as we have lots of new articles that have been created recently. Cheers, The-Pope (talk) 05:52, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Are there still some toolserver issues? The run that started on 13 Sep eventually covered all 576 listed projects (but took all week), but last week only 111 were done. Today's start of a new run only did 4 projects before stoping after Clans of Scotland. If you are updating the list to add the recent requests, you can delete Puducherry (renamed Pondicherry which is also on your list) and International development is a redirect duplicate of International Development. The-Pope (talk) 02:12, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry for not replying sooner.
- Toolserver seems to be working fine now. I have also modified the code, so that it doesn't start from the beginning of the list of projects each week. This way, if the list isn't processed completely in a week, the next week will start with projects that weren't processed in that last week. As a side effect, if there are problems processing the huge projects (which is usually the issue), it won't affect the smaller projects much. I will also try to optimize the problematic queries later today, which should improve the situation too.
- I have added WikiProject Olympics.
- The listing for Pondicherry doesn't have importance and class of articles, while Puducherry does have them. This is because some of the categories for the WikiProject weren't renamed (Category:WikiProject Pondicherry articles vs. Category:Puducherry articles by quality). Because of that, I will keep both listings until the categories are fixed.
- I have removed International Development.

Persondata template issues
Hi there Svick,
I've been wondering why the almost 400,000 articles in Category:Persondata templates without short description parameter are included in your cleanup lists. To me that is a wikipedia maintenance issue, not a cleanup issue - the article isn't really improved by adding the description. Category:Persondata templates without name parameter also exists, but is not listed at all. I'll cross post this to WT:Persondata, but I think you should remove it from the cleanup list, but only if you could create a duplicate set of maintenance reports, ie http://toolserver.org/~svick/MaintenanceListing/ with just the two cats I've mentioned above in it at first, and then maybe others, as the need arises. It might speed up the running of the cleanup lists too - just had a look, 28000 Musicians, 3000 Footballers, 16500 Actors and Filmmakers... Cheers, The-Pope (talk) 12:37, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

15:14, 9 November 2012 (UTC)- I think the WP:1.0 team has a few too many projects in their list, but this list covers 575 projects, whereas the 1.0 list has almost 1600 projects with more than 200 articles. When we ran the User:DASHBot unreferenced BLP lists in WP:URBLP we had about 700 projects. We really need a definitive list somewhere (and standardise the naming and setup). But until there is a list, I guess we'll keep on adding them as we find them missing. The-Pope (talk) 16:42, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

- It could be updated to a dynamic page, as most of the cleanup cats have a global 'all articles' cat that you could use the PAGESINCATEGORY: magic word. ie {{PAGESINCATEGORY:All articles with unsourced statements:R}} provides a live count of how many articles are in Category:All articles with unsourced statements - ie 533635. The total is {{NUMBEROFARTICLES:R}} = 6915049 and to get % it's {{#expr: ( {{PAGESINCATEGORY:All articles with unsourced statements|R}} / {{NUMBEROFARTICLES:R}} * 100 ) round2 }}% = 7.72%. Having it dynamic doesn't help with tracking progress either, as you can't see what it was like a month ago, as there will be no history (unless there is an regular archive taken that converts it all to plain values. Might be easier to ask at WP:BAG, but if it isn't a Svick tool, it probably should be moved to another pagename, maybe under WP:CLEANUP (or do they already have an equivalent page?) The-Pope (talk) 17:11, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

I moved it to it's current location because, maintained or not, it is part of the cleanup listings, and not some mere obsolete relic of WolterBot like User:WolterBot/upload test. It didn't occur to me that I was moving it to be "under Svick", I just thought of it as updating the title to match the current location of the cleanup listings page. Appears that the new Category:Articles with too few wikilinks isn't yet in the WikiProject cleanup listing reports. See Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#WikiProject cleanup listing missing some categories. Thanks, Wbm1058 (talk) 19:30, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
- I have added Category:Articles with too few wikilinks, it should show up on each report when it's next regenerated. I'm not going to add Category:Wikipedia requested photographs (as requested on VP), because it's not a single category, but a whole hierarchy. If there was a single category that contained all the tagged articles, I could add that. (The fact that the talk page is tagged is not a problem, that would require only a minor change in code.)
