Alrighty, thief. I see you stole my css code. First off, I want 75% of all the money you made off of it. Second, you will get 50 lashes from a very wet noodle. Third, I'll send my wife right over. If there is anybody that can bitch one's head off, it will be her.

Actually I'm not sure. It came from Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/style.css which is the old(i.e. much better) AWB standard way of showing diffs. PS Don't send the wife I want to get to sleep. Regards, Sun Creator(talk) 22:57, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
FYI... My Preferences -> Gadgets -> Appearance -> "Display diffs with the old yellow/green colors and design."

Thanks I didn't know it was added there. I think they are missing the font setting. 'font-family: Arial, san-serif; font-size: 12pt;' which transforms the display at least in my setup. Regards, Sun Creator(talk) 21:31, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

WPCleaner 1.19

Hi, I have completely refactored WPCleaner in version 1.19 for the spell-checking feature. It now works suggestion by suggestion, instead of going through the article trying each suggestion. Many changes are induced by this :

  • It seems a lot faster :)
  • It better deals with AWB regular expressions (I can work differently with AWB and WPC regexp),
  • If regular expressions take more than 1 second on an article, a trace is displayed in the Java console. That allowed me to fix 2 regular expressions on frwiki, that were taking between 95 and 99% of the time.

With this modifications, on a very big article in frwiki that was taking 800 seconds to analyze on my laptop, it now takes only 7 seconds.

I have tested 1.19 only on frwiki, seems ok, but it probably needs some testing on enwiki. I still haven't found why the "so-called" rule doesn't work.

I've done a little bit of testing. All seems the same on /Test. How long does Little Butte Creek take to load for you? It says "WPCleaner is working...Analyzing data" and takes about 160 seconds to load, maybe it's just because of a big article :) Regards, Sun Creator(talk) 13:14, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.

In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all there :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't. WPCleaner and typos

Hi,

I took me quite some time, but I finally found what the problem was with typo rules like "so-called". The regular expression was working correctly to find the errors, but it was the computation of the possible replacements that was disturbed by the look behind clause in the regular expression. I've just fixed it, and I see that I had the same kind of problems on frwiki, because more things are detected now. --NicoV (Talk on frwiki) 21:49, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Chelodina expansa

I moved this page from Macrochelodina expansa to Chelodina expansa in keeping with the rest of the genus and its reduction to subgenus. Left you this message so you knew. Bot/AWB misfire?

I reversed this edit of yours some months ago because it clearly didn't work. Looking at it again today, I see your explanation doesn't really fit -- not a typo correction; it was a template addition "lang" which just didn't work -- replaced the Arabic with a "2". Somewhat my mistake. I meant to use {{lang||}} but missed one of the pipes and failed to correct the edit summary. Is the comma in the Arabic correct? I don't know myself, so will leave it for now. Regards, Sun Creator(talk) 14:00, 8 December 2012 (UTC)
No idea about the comma. I worked pretty hard on the Arabic; my first time with the language and it works from the right margin, I remember learning, figuring how to work with; that's one reason I restored it when I looked back and saw yours, didn't want to lose the Arabic; but I can't judge it as language at all. I figured yours was a minor problem with the template but wasn't and am not familiar with it. Thanks for going back. You're welcome to go ahead if you wish or leave it as is. It's been a full year since the Teahouse opened, and as we're reflecting on what's been accomplished, we wanted to celebrate with you.

WikiCup 2013 February newsletter

Round 1 is now over. The top 64 scorers have progressed to round 2, where they have been randomly split into eight pools of eight. At the end of April, the top two from each pool, as well as the 16 highest scorers from those remaining, will progress to round 3. Commiserations to those eliminated; if you're interested in still being involved in the WikiCup, able and willing reviewers will always be needed, and if you're interested in getting involved with other collaborative projects, take a look at the WikiWomen's Month discussed below.

Round 1 saw 21 competitors with over 100 points, which is fantastic; that suggests that this year's competition is going to be highly competative. Our lower scores indicate this, too: A score of 19 was required to reach round 2, which was significantly higher than the 11 points required in 2012 and 8 points required in 2011. The score needed to reach round 3 will be higher, and may depend on pool groupings. In 2011, 41 points secured a round 3 place, while in 2012, 65 was needed. Our top three scorers in round 1 were:

  1. Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), primarily for an array of warship GAs.
  2. London Miyagawa (submissions), primarily for an array of did you knows and good articles, some of which were awarded bonus points.
  3. New South Wales Casliber (submissions), due in no small part to Canis Minor, a featured article awarded a total of 340 points. A joint submission with Alaska Keilana (submissions), this is the highest scoring single article yet submitted in this year's competition.

Featured topics have still played no part in this year's competition, but once again, a curious contribution has been offered by British Empire The C of E (submissions): did you know that there is a Shit Brook in Shropshire? With April Fools' Day during the next round, there will probably be a good chance of more unusual articles...

March sees the WikiWomen's History Month, a series of collaborative efforts to aid the women's history WikiProject to coincide with Women's History Month and International Women's Day. A number of WikiCup participants have already started to take part. The project has a to-do list of articles needing work on the topic of women's history. Those interested in helping out with the project can find articles in need of attention there, or, alternatively, add articles to the list. Those interested in collaborating on articles on women's history are also welcome to use the WikiCup talk page to find others willing to lend a helping hand. Another collaboration currently running is an an effort from WikiCup participants to coordinate a number of Easter-themed did you know articles. Contributions are welcome!

A few final administrative issues. From now on, submission pages will need only a link to the article and a link to the nomination page, or, in the case of good article reviews, a link to the review only. See your submissions' page for details. This will hopefully make updating submission pages a little less tedious. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Article Feedback Tool update

Hey Sun Creator. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Hi , Just to say that in Tb5 you removed what seemed to be a duplicated word, ie 'it';

the sentence had read "without it it had lead..." or something similar. The loss of one of the its now means the sentence is nonsense. I will re-phrase, so the problem won't arise again.

WikiMania 2014

This is an international conference, thousands attend, five days, two days for techies like me, 3 days of many sessions done by many Wikipedians. I was at Wikimania 2012 in Washington, had a great time, but I would admit it was expensive staying in a good hotel near George Washington University.
