Galicia articles

[edit]

Hi Revolución! I hope there won't be any bad blood between us that I undid your Galicia-related article namechanges. This was voted before and the result was not to move anything. I tried to diligently merge the changes you made to the new locations back to the original articles. I hope I did not miss anything. Also, your move from Galicia (Spain) to Galicia was done by cut and paste. The drawback of such moves is that the history doesn't follow the article as well as the talk doesn't follow either. Please let me know if I misunderstood something with what you did. In this case a apologize. Regards, --Irpen 03:29, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yes - I did realise this but I thought it looked better like that. Oh well, perhaps I'll accent the "a" like it should be then... :( --Celestianpower hablamé 19:26, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Revolucion... I hope you don't mind that I switched the picture back. The content of the paragraph following the picture deals with the Anti chavez movement prior to the recall referendum... the very source of the referendum. The picture you posted is already displayed in the Bolivarian_Revolution article. In the spirit of impartiality and providing the most information possible, I believe it would be best to display both pictures. Don't you agree? - Spaceriqui 03:43, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I just thought it wasn't fair to delete one picture and replace it with another. no hard feelings between two fellow vegetarians. ok? -Spaceriqui 19:55, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from personal attacks. Try to assume good faith. It looks like an honest question. Sorry to have to bring it up. See you around, my friend. --LV (Dark Mark) 18:31, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to have picked on you, but all parties involved could use a dose of civility. It isn't really a matter of who is right. I am off to go tell Tshilo (Tomer) to calm down as well. Thanks for understanding. --LV (Dark Mark) 18:38, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions

[edit]

Hi! If an article is not within guidelines, it most certainly may be deleted immediately. However, feel free to recreate a deleted article with additional content. - Lucky 6.9 20:29, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, please leave my talk page alone. I got the message. You rewrote your article, it looks much better, let's leave it at that. Regards, Lucky 6.9 20:31, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Let's try this once more: It's my talk page. I'm not accusing you of vandalism. I appreciate your concern. Articles with little or no content may be speedy deleted under criterion A1. I deleted a page lacking content, you recreated it with additional content and it looks fine. OK? Friends? Peace? Christmas? - Lucky 6.9 20:34, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the inconvenience. I really do appreciate the feedback. I'll be more considerate of your work in the future. Take care! - Lucky 6.9 20:46, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas!!

[edit]
MERRY CHRISTMAS, Revolución! A well deserved pressy!--Santa on Sleigh 22:33, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I see you edited the entry to say that it arose as a specifically non-sectarian or non-Christian greeting. Can you substantiate this? Season's Greetings originated as a Christmas greeting and attained its neutral status much later. In light of the recent controversy, I don't want to provide additional amunition to those who view all non-"Merry Christmas" greetings as PC johnny-come-lately phrases if that is not the case. Lindmere 05:17, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Good solution, thanks. I would be very curious to find any citations. I took a guess about the Irving Berlin song, since that was definitely around in 1942, but the song itself refers to all holidays since it's about an inn that's only open on holidays. DYK

[edit]
Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Benjamin Franklin's phonetic alphabet, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

You suggested that the title of "December 2005 IISC shootout" be changed to "December 2005 IISC shooting". I have changed the title to reflect the meaning of "shootout". Thank you!--Kevin Hanse (talk) 18:42, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism on King-Kong, Deletion

[edit]

Greetings,

I was wondering why you deleted the entire Criticism section of King-Kong (2005) film. I had just spent an entire night revising the earlier draft of the section to fit a more Neutral POV, and found out earlier today that you had deleted the complete section. Would like an explanantion as to why the 2nd Revision did not fit NPOV. I also believe that discussion on King-Kong's realism is a significant section in the Wikipedia article that many would be interested in reading. I am not interested in starting an Edit War, and would gladly leave the King Kong page in its current state if a good reason is offered. Thank you. Deadpool Esq..

February 15, 2003 anti-war protest an article from the WikiProject Anti-war, which you are listed as a member of, has been nominated for the Article Improvement Drive (by me ).

It is an article about a day of much importance both to the history of the anti-war movement and to general discussion of the Iraq war. With a little work from experienced editors it could gain FA status. If you would like to see it improved please vote for it at Make "February 15, 2003 anti-war protest" the subject of an Article Improvement Drive--JK the unwise 13:17, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:1-jose-montoya.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.
[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cruise_dock.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. --OrphanBot 04:26, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Walt brown.gif

[edit]
Warning sign This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Walt brown.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. An Esperanzial note

[edit]

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, are you really an advanced singer? I just discovered a great book on American presidential campaign songs, and was thinking of writing a few articles. Userboxes and policyviolations

[edit]

Hi, I see you are insisting in creating userboxes despite Jimbo's request that this should stop. That is, for the time being, your right. However, please stop putting logos in userboxes. As you will see from the image's pages themselves, nearly all logos are used by wikipedia under fair use provisions. Fair use images may not be used in templates or userspace according to wikipedia policy WP:FUC. Admins have been told to have zero-tollerance in enforcing this. Please ensure you don't violate this policy again, and if you aren't sure then please desist on using images for userspace or userboxes altogether. I'm having to clean-up after you, and it is a drag. Thanks. --Doc ask? 18:12, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To be in userboxes they'd have to be ones marked as 'public domain'. --Doc ask? 21:15, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously, please take a step back and think about the goals for Wikipedia, the Wikimedia foundation's mission, and the relation or lack thereof of your actions to them. We're here to build an ecyclopedia, not to be divicive, protest, or promote any views. Do you really think promoting userboxes advances any of the foundation's missions? - Taxman Talk 20:56, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please, just let the userboxes go

[edit]

I see you're rather involved in this whole userbox thing, going so far as to recreate material that was deleted because it violated policy. For your own sake, you might want to step back and just let it go. Wikipedia is not a democracy and free speech doesn't apply here. The whole point of this project is to build an encyclopedia and divisive userboxes are just getting in the way. It isn't worth risking your neck for these silly boxen. Please reconsider.
