Article for Wilma Scott Heide
[edit]This edit for the article for Wilma Scott Heide basically overwrote and replaced every word and every source that had existed in the article since it was created more than a dozen years ago. Was there anything in the earlier version that might have merited updating, rather than total replacement? Alansohn (talk) 02:14, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Alansohn. I used the existing article as the base when I updated the article and I didn't remove any of the information that was originally in it, although some was reworded as it was expanded. I kept three out of the five sources that were in the article at the time I expanded it and I am happy to add the other two back if you think they would improve the article. I apologise if you feel there was something from the article that was wrongly removed but I didn't intend for it to be completely replaced. I think when I copied it over from my sandbox that it may have made it appear that it was an entirely new article but I did update the existing article rather than starting from scratch. If there is anything in particular that you are concerned about, I'm happy to discuss that here or on the article's talk page. Sammielh (talk) 19:24, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

August 2023 Good Article Nominations backlog drive

August 2023 Backlog Drive:
| |
Other ways to participate: | |
You're receiving this message because you have reviewed or nominated a good article in the last year. |
The August 2023 Good Article Nominations Backlog Drive is at the halfway mark, and has seen incredible progress, dropping the backlog from 638 to 359 unreviewed articles -- a 43.7% reduction in only fifteen days! But we still have over two weeks to go, and there are plenty of articles left to review:
- We've gone from 14 nominations 270+ days old and 65 nominations 180+ days old to 2 and 0 respectively. No more articles will reach 270+ status during the drive, and only three more will reach 180+ if unreviewed, so this is your last chance to get the higher age bonuses!
- We still have plenty of articles in the 90+ range, but the list is shrinking fast.
- Some articles need new reviewers, either because they're officially on second opinion or because the original reviews were deleted or invalidated. You can help prevent these articles from waiting longer!
- While there are starting to be clear favourites for the Content Review Medal of Merit, the field is still very open. A late entrant can still pull an upset to get the most reviews in the drive!
And remember: if you've done reviews, you should log them at the backlog drive page for points, so they can be tracked towards your awards at the end.
Thanks for signing up for the drive, and I hope to see you reviewing! Vaticidalprophet 02:01, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Signups open for The Core Contest 2024
[edit]The Core Contest—Wikipedia's most exciting contest—returns again this year from April 15 to May 31. The goal: to improve vital or other core articles, with a focus on those in the worst state of disrepair. Editing can be done individually, but in the past groups have also successfully competed. There is £300 of prize money divided among editors who provide the "best additive encyclopedic value". Signups are open now. Cheers from the judges, Femke, Casliber, Aza24. – Aza24 (talk) 02:20, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

TCC 2023 Check in
[edit]Hi there Sammielh. It has come to our attention that most of the winners from last year's Core Contest didn't receive any money from WMUK? Is this your case as well?
There appears to have been some major communication errors, but WMUK is happy to uphold their funding promise. I was planning to send an email to the other winners this weekend with instructions on how to receive their award—I'm happy to send you this as well. Aza24 (talk) 19:44, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Aza24: Hi there, no I never received any money although I think it was largely my fault as I completely forgot to ever reply to their initial email. Sammielh (talk) 09:28, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. I'll send you an email shortly on how to recieve it—would really love if you can receive the money you won! Aza24 (talk) 03:16, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon
[edit]Hello Sammielh:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!
