Sorry you didn't like my edit of User:Sam Sailor/UPabout. The photo has an extra parameter, making the page show up on Special:LintErrors/bogus-image-options.--Auric talk 17:20, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, Auric, this gave me an opportunity to read WP:PIC and a few other, related pages. AFAICT it's the use of frame that's wrong, and I have removed it. But if that's a correct assumption, why was thumb reported at Special:LintErrors/bogus-image-options as the culprit? If you know, please tell me. Sam Sailor 14:10, 10 December 2017 (UTC)
Nothing so precise, just that there was an extra parameter. I wish it was that specific.--Auric talk 17:15, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

changing the way all citations are displayed on a page

Thanks for cleaning up Newport Creamery. Best not to impose a preferred citation formatting scheme (or aesthetic form, or however one might describe the citation template format that takes up the maximum possible space in an edit window, i.e.). Pet peeve, sorry. :) I do hope that script doesn't always hijack citation formatting (can't say I've come across it in the past), but perhaps it can undo more easily than going in to manually remove all of the spaces/linebreaks? — Rhododendrites talk \\ 06:11, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

The script should not be blamed for hijacking the formatting, Rhododendrites, the choice of the vertical format was mine. The other possibilities are "crammed" (Previous revision of Newport Creamery), "horizontal" (Previous revision of Newport Creamery), and "roomy" (Previous revision of Newport Creamery). List-defined references can result in a very clean edit window, although I suppose it works best with articles, where the prose size is limited, and that some editors in any case may dislike the scrolling needed. I did not initially use LDRs (per WP:CITEVAR), and they in turn of course could be formatted with any of the four above options using Tidy citations.js (here LDRs, horizontal). In any case, I'm flexible in these matters: pick the one, that works for you, and I'll be fine with that. Sam Sailor 12:57, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Sam Sailor, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
  • Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!

Outreach and Invitations:

  • If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with: {{subst:NPR invite}}. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.

New Year New Page Review Drive

  • A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
  • Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
  • The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, go here. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:27, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

New Years new page backlog drive

Hello Sam Sailor, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!

We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!

The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.

Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:

  • The total number of reviews completed for the month.
  • The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.

NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

Have a great 2018!

Hi Sam. Hope you're well. This made me laugh today. Hopefully silly season has ended (for now...) Have a good NYE. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:14, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

Thanks Lugnuts, I hope you had a nice one too and that you're still in good shape.
Thanks for the heads-up re Lene Brøndum, I can expand and add a dozen of sources if I have to. Almost any actor who appeared in Matador and since has had a decent career, has been subject to coverage in reliable sources - Brøndum's certainly a familiar face, and she has had a good stage career for 40+ years doing odd/comical supporting roles. Personally I vividly remember her for her Nell in the 1998 production of Endgame at Østre Gasværk Teater, which was Morten Grunwald's farewell production. (I worked with Grunwald in two of his musical productions at Østre Gasværk Teater in the early '90s.)
Why is it users nominate for deletion subject of which they have little clue?
Happy New Year, Lug! Best regards, Sam Sailor 00:30, 2 January 2018 (UTC)
