File permission problem with File:College of Physiotherapists of Ontario Council Award 2002.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:College of Physiotherapists of Ontario Council Award 2002.jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:31, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal award 2003.jpeg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal award 2003.jpeg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Conflict of interest editing

[edit]

Information icon Hello, S Tallim. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Bhupinder Singh Mahal, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:36, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi S Tallim. It appears from some comments you've been making (like this one here) that you might have some kind of personal or professional relations with Bhupinder Singh Mahal. That's OK, but please take a careful look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest if you do because there are some important things about Wikipedia that you might understand. Even though conflict-of-interest editing isn't explicity prohibitted by Wikipedia, it's something that's highly discouraged because it can often lead to more serious problems if one isn't careful. Right now, you're only working on a draft for a possible future article; so, perhaps having a COI isn't such a big deal. If, however, the draft is ultimately approved as an article, you will be (for the most part) expected not to directly edit it as much as possible except as explained here and here; instead, you will be expected to seek assistance from other editors as explained here. Any article about Bhupinder Sing is going to be written about him, not for him, and this means that neither he nor anyone who is associated with him will have any form of editorial control over the article content as explained here, here and here. If Bhupinder Singh Mahal has any problems with what's written about him on Wikipedia, he will be expected to seek assistance as explained here.
I also have noticed that you've been uploading lots of images to Wikipedia (and Commons) with questionable sourcing and licensising. My suggestion to you would be to refrain from trying to upload any more images until the draft has been accepted. The number of images you add to the draft will zero effect on whether it's ultimately approved. Focus on the textual context of the article and demonstrating how Bhupinder Singh Mahal meets Wikipedia:Notability (people) since that's what's going to determine whether the draft is approved. The draft currently contains lots of unsourced content, which isn't a good thing at all; so, focus on finding reliable sources that you can cite in support of such content so that it can be verified and worry about adding images later. The more unsourced content the draft contains, the less likely the chance that it will be approved. I'm sure you know lots of things about Bhupinder Singh Mahal and most of the stuff you've added to the draft is true, but being true isn't enough for Wikipedia. If you're unable to find proper sourcing for some of the things you've added, it might be better to remove it yourself before someone else does.
Creating a new article from scratch is quite a difficult thing to do, particularly when you're a new editor focusing on a single goal who might not be very familiar with how Wikipedia works. You might find the pages Wikipedia:The answer to life, the universe, and everything, Wikipedia:Article, Help:Your first article, and Help:Referencing for beginners helpful, but you can also ask question at the Wikipedia:Teahouse if you're having problems figuring some things out. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:07, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi S Tallim. I thought that we had sorted this out at User talk:Marchjuly#Bhupinder Singh Mahal regarding another file you uploaded. As I tried to explain before, you can't really upload photos taken by someone unless it can be shown they've given their consent to do so, and the photographer's consent needs to be capable of being verified by Wikipedia. One way to do this is to ask Bhupinder's wife (or her official representatives) to send an email (like the one shown WP:CONSENT) to Wikimedia OTRS. If she can do this, then an OTRS volunteer will look at the email and determine what to do next. If there's something you understand about this process, then please ask for help, either here below (please don't start discussing this on either mine or Whpq's user talk page) or at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
I also still recommend that you focus on getting the draft you're working on about Bhupinder approved first, and then worry about uploading images. How many images the draft has will not affect whether it's ultimately approved and it makes no sense really to upload files if there's going to be no article where they can be used. I'm sure you mean well and are not trying to cause problems, but multiple times textual content you added to the draft had to be revision deleted because it was found to be a copyright violation by Wikipedia administrator. In addition, multiple files you've uploaded to Wikipedia (and Commons) have been flagged for issues due to questionable licensing, inadequate permission or other reasons. If you keep doing things like this, a Wikipedia administrator or a Commons administrator may decide to step in and block you no matter how well meaning you are. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:54, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for File:Bhupinder Singh Mahal.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Bhupinder Singh Mahal.png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Reuploading deleted files

[edit]

Hi S Tallim. It's really not a good idea for you to keep re-uploading files which have been deleted by an administrator either here or on Commons. At the very worst, continuing to do so might be seen a complete disregard or both Wikipedia's and Commons' policies on image copyright, which will very likely lead to your account being blocked on either one or both projects. I understand that you're having a hard time uploading files, but continuing to do what you've been doing will only make things worse.

When a file has been deleted, it's not gone forever per se. It's actually still there on the Wikipedia or Commons servers and has only been hidden from public view; this means that an administrator can still see the file and even restore it at a later date if the issues which lead to it's deletion are eventually sorted out. So, File:College of Physiotherapists of Ontario Council Award 2002.jpg and File:Bhupinder Singh Mahal.jpg still are there, it's just that nobody can see them. So, instead uploading them again as File:College of Physiotherapists Council Award.jpg and File:Bhupinder Singh Mahal.png, it's better to try and get the other files restored by addressing the reasons why they were deleted. The way that you do this is by click on the red links of the deleted files, finding the name of administrator who deleted them, and then posting a message on that administrator's user talk page asking what needs to be done. The way not to try and do this is to simply re-upload the same files with the same issues because it just creates more things that need to be sorted out and will also likely result in the files being deleted for the same reason as before.

I see you've added the statement On April 8th Mrs. Mahal affirmed to permissions-common (Ticket#2021040510008374) that she was the sole owner of the exclusive copyright of both the work depicted and the media and provided permission to publish above-mentioned content under the following free license: Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International. Did you, however, notice that an OTRS volunteer received and reviewed that email and found it to be insufficient at File:Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal award 2003.jpeg. This means there's a problem with the email that was sent in; so, it's not a good idea to upload any new files based on that particular ticket until the problems with that ticket have been resolved.

One again, I suggest you focus on the textual content of the draft and worry about the images later. If you continue to upload files with questionable licensing or questionable claims of permission, eventually an administrator is going to decide that enough is enough and block your account for any type of editing. You've already be warned about this at c: Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems#User:S Tallim and adminsitrators are going to grow tired of indulging you. So, unless you are uploading a photograph that you yourself has taken, I'd stop trying to upload files for awhile or at least ask for help at WP:MCQ or c:COM:VPC before you do. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:54, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi S Tallim, just a bit of advice. When a file is deleted for lacking permission, it's not seen as good form to re-upload it. In the future, you can still get in contract with the OTRS team and work on having the copyright holder release their work under a suitable license even after your uploads have been deleted. When the copyright matter is settled and all is good to go, any administrator can restore the deleted content for you. Regards. plicit 03:40, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Flight from Sirsa.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. On May 25th Nat declined to accept the article on grounds that the submission was not supported by reliable sources, and now you are echoing same objection on June 11th. To meet that deficiency I cited four academicians who attest to Mahal’s work as writer and public volunteer. One of Wikipedia notability requirement is that “This can include published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, other books, television documentaries, bestseller lists, and reviews”. Reviews of Mahal’s published works are provided: two for each of the two books. These are people independent of the subject itself and /or of its author, publisher or agent. I will be grateful if you can specify the deficiency in your own words. S Tallim70.51.134.58 (talk) 15:15, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Case request declined

[edit]

In response to your request for arbitration of this issue, the Arbitration Committee has agreed that arbitration is not required at this stage. Arbitration on Wikipedia is a lengthy, complicated process that involves the unilateral adjudication of a dispute by an elected committee. Although the Committee's decisions can be useful to certain disputes, in many cases the actual process of arbitration is unenjoyable and time-consuming. Moreover, for most disputes the community maintains an effective set of mechanisms for reaching a compromise or resolving a grievance.

Disputes among editors regarding the content of an article should use structured discussion on the talk page between the disputing editors. However, requests for comment, third opinions and other venues are available if discussion alone does not yield a consensus. The dispute resolution noticeboard also exists as a method of resolving content disputes that aren't easily resolved with talk page discussion.

In all cases, you should review Wikipedia:Dispute resolution to learn more about resolving disputes on Wikipedia. The English Wikipedia community has many venues for resolving disputes and grievances, and it is important to explore them instead of requesting arbitration in the first instance. For more information on the process of arbitration, please see the Arbitration Policy and the Guide to Arbitration. I hope this advice is useful, and please do not hesitate to contact a member of the community if you have more questions. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 15:18, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Bonadea was: This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: Only very minimal changes since previous decline; the draft is just as promotionally written as before, there is no indication of notability or any significant coverage in reliable sources, and most of the biographical info is unsourced. Since this is the ninth time the draft has been submitted, it doesn't seem likely that it could be turned into an encyclopaedia article.
