Pakubuwono X
[edit]It would be fine if Java had one palace/realm of hereditary rulers as you put it, but in a general sense of Javanese history there could be up to 6 different 'realms', but then the generic name of the rulers 'pakubuwono' is usually instantly recognised, as well as the location 'surakarta' - ruling dates are ambiguous as that is in the western calendar - javanese have their own calendar. Also what you replaced is short of not letting an 'outsider' know where or when, so the balance - as I am sure you would agree - in a short description - enough to identify where and when - of perhaps the most recognisable ruler of the 20th century, not just due to his vast progeny or his own girth in later age - I would say that there are better ways a short description might help the ruler of big stats but nevertheless short in stature when standing next to his dutch overlords - but I or a jury might be out for a while for a compromise of a description that is required... They are never worth worrying about, the potential for others to revert/adjust/change is always high, but then javanese pride is something that is always circumspect, quiet, and usually with little give-away clues, likely to recover... The potential synonyms for aspects of javanese history are in themselves almost an article's worth of explanation and between the line elaboration anyways. JarrahTree 01:32, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
Maxim Litvinov
[edit]Hello, RadioactiveBoulevardier. This is a courtesy notice that the copy edit you requested for Maxim Litvinov at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page is now complete. All feedback welcome! Cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:27, 17 March 2023 (UTC) |
- Hi RadioactiveBoulevardier, this article is fairly large so it will take me at least a few days to copy-edit. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 06:35, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks!!
- Yeah I know, I already did bits and pieces but it needs a complete facelift. There's a reason I made a special request instead of just tagging it lol. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 06:39, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- Well I don't do complete facelifts; think of my work more as a spa treatment than plastic surgery! :) Cheers, Baffle☿gab 00:42, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- I've now finished the c/e; I've moved a fair chunk of material to the talk page—my reasoning is there and in my edit summaries. I suspect much of the material was cut and pasted from sources but I'm not going out of my way to investigate. Even after my Great Purge (see what i did there?), I think the material in the section "Negotiations regarding Germany and dismissal" needs merging and condensing; there's a lot of overlap with the Second World War text and that in other sections. Other improvements you could make are adding citations to the text I've marked with {{cn}} templates; adding context to names where I've added {{who}} templates, and generally making the article more readable. I've done the spa treatment! Good luck with it and cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:27, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks!
- Yeah, there were way too many block quotes in the article. I did some preliminary cutting in the beginning, but I was pretty conservative about removing material.
- Now I have to bring the article into a coherent and concise state so that it's actually understandable :| RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 02:31, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
- It is a bit of a challenge, my tip would be to think of what a reader would want to know; then rearrange the material in chronological order; there's a lot of stuff about the war and the Nazi invasion of the USSR to be collated. It will make an interesting read, anyway. :) Cheers, Baffle☿gab 08:06, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

(←) Just a quick heads-up; the article may have problems with overuse of a self-published source. I've just noticed a thread at AN/I regarding one of the article's major sources, which turns out to be a self-published work. permalink. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 15:22, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- Omg wow. Bloody hell. Thanks again for the heads up. This is obviously a medium-term project.
- Also, do you know if there's a WikiProject dedicated to improving the usage of sources? RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 20:21, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, I was rather surprised to find that thread today, so soon after my c/e. A lot of articles using that source may need to be partly rewritten. I found Wikipedia:WikiProject Citation cleanup and Wikipedia:WikiProject Reliability, both of which seem to be at least semi-active. Cleanup may be useful as well, or you may like to peruse this page for a list of WikiProjects. Hopefully, the fallout from this will be limited. Good luck and cheers, Baffle☿gab 22:40, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- Cool thanks. It's not good that this took years to get flagged. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 23:31, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

Civil-military observer
[edit]The Civil-military observer performs functions which are close to the capabilities described in the redacted edit. The difference is that rather than attaches, the observers are civilians. Where might this redacted information go? What article? I will watch this page. --Ancheta Wis (talk | contribs) 08:04, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- I suppose it could get processed and integrated into the main invasion article, although to be honest, the last thing we need is more quotations from talking heads. In any event, I don't really follow your explanation about observers, and it definitely isn't a good fit for the lead of the foreign involvement article. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 08:20, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- Based on this response I will create a sub-heading in the foreign involvement article as a part of the training efforts. --Ancheta Wis (talk | contribs) 12:08, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- Not sure what the point is, but anyway the article needs a lot of work on both layout and coherence so I'm sure the eventual finished product won't have any serious issues. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 12:53, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- RUSI has clearly documented the neglect of the non-commissioned officer in the Russian army. Compare to mission command. -- Ancheta Wis (talk | contribs) 13:15, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- I still don’t really see the logical chain of relevance. Are you suggesting that RUSI’s public commentary is a form of assistance to Ukraine? I don’t get it. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 13:19, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- The Russian army is incompetent; RUSI explains this. -- Ancheta Wis (talk | contribs) 13:21, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- But how is that relevant to that particular article? RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 13:25, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- The Russian army is expert at providing stories, but not intelligent capabilities, so it has wasted its manpower and materiel on despoiling Ukraine, rather than reaching a position of relative advantage. When individual nations provide materiel, training, and intelligence to Ukraine, Ukraine can then use its manpower to push back. Its non-commissioned officers, for example can use their own initiative rather than wait for top-down commands. --Ancheta Wis (talk | contribs) 13:35, 6 June 2023 (UTC)

Sunnen Article edit
[edit]Hi, I saw you deleted information about Joseph Sunnen which was factual. I added it back in and included my sources. I have lots more information on him as he was my grandfather. Our family lots of information in on him. KSD28 (talk) 15:28, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for bringing this to my attention, @KSD28. The reason I had cut it was the way it was worded. “Sterilization” is a bit different from “contraception use”.
- Doing a bit of web searching, I see that the Sunnen Foundation is in fact a particular bugbear of pro-life groups for its intensely pro-choice advocacy. Thank you for your diligence.
- Cheers, RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 18:59, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
- Sure. I couldn't see the post before it was edited. Your comment mentioned something about Emko not being around before his death and I imagine that might have stemmed from the fact that Emko was sold after his death and is no longer part of Sunnen Products. I agree that "sterilization" would ring alarm bells for me as well as we do not support sterilization (which indicates force on an unwilling or unsuspecting individual). We support education in all areas, including options for reproductive health. 2600:4040:23CB:3100:1A1:EC56:D9C1:C61F (talk) 19:10, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

2S40 Floks moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to 2S40 Floks. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 07:31, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Schminnte It was trivial to find a second source (in fact I spent double the amount of time deciding which search result to use).
- This is a current news item (first batch just deployed in theater) that should have been presumed notable anyway due to its significance as a weapon system used by a superpower military.
- DIY might be applicable…
- RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 09:20, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- Furthermore, articles already existed in Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, and French… RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 09:23, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry for the hastle, I did not see the foreign language articles. I wouldn't have draftified if this source was present: to make it easier for reviewers, could you try to have at least two sources present in the article in future? It would help us a lot. Sorry again and all the best, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 09:40, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
Can you add Pro track athlete
[edit]Hi I am a sports agent and one if my past athletes ran for Trinidad and Tobago. I was wondering if you could possibly help me by adding her to Wikipedia. Thank you kindly for your time and consideration.
Art Maguire SAManager (talk) 07:11, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hi!
- In order for her to get an article, she would need to be considered "notable" under Wikipedia:Notability (sports) and Wikipedia:General notability guideline policies.
- Cheers, RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 07:27, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you kindly for your reply. She is...her teammates have similar standings and are listed. Would you be open to helping me add her? She is googleable. Thank you again for your time and reply. SAManager (talk) 10:04, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
- I also got an inquiry from this user. They didn't specify, but I think the athlete they are referring to is Magnolia Howell, who I believe meets WP:GNG so I wrote the article. Feel free to contribute. --Habst (talk) 17:45, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
- I thank you most profoundly for your time and help. I'm astounded at your research, quite good. Very grateful for your wonderful work and for taking the time. I called Magnolia this morning and she asked me to thank you as well. Running for Trinidad was a major point of pride for her, so she's grateful for the record.
- Happy Holidays to you and your and thank you again!
- Art M. 70.168.156.123 (talk) 22:12, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
- If I may ask one final question, I attempted to load a photo I have of Magnolia but it's been rejecting it, is there a specific type of file the photo must be in order for it to be eligible?
- Thank you again for your help! Very much appreciated. SAManager (talk) 22:51, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @SAManager -- thanks for your contributions to the article and for your kind words.
- A few notes on your contributions --
- As you were Howell's agent, you have a conflict of interest (see WP:COI) and we are discussing the biography of a living person (see WP:BLP) -- I don't mean this in a negative way, it's just that Wikipedia has rules about these types of editing, and I want to inform you about them so that you don't get banned by the administrators from this website.
- In short, every new piece of information has to be cited with a verifiable source, and you can't remove cited information unless there is a reason for doing so. Going through your edits,
- Special:Diff/1187697586 and Special:Diff/1187698332: You can't remove date of birth when it is public information and cited on the world athletics page. Date of birth is a very common biographical piece of info that is on nearly every athlete's article.
- Special:Diff/1187699891: The "education" notes need to be cited or they have to be removed. I searched for "Laguna College" "magnolia howell" and got no results except for the wiki article itself, meaning that the info is probably not verifiable. Remember that Wikipedia is not just about being correct (I have no reason to doubt that what you wrote is true) -- it's about being verifiable, kind of like a science experiment so someone else can come in years later and verify that all of the information is true by clicking on the references at the bottom. Also, the proper way to add an external link is to either paste a bare URL with no formatting, or add a title inside the square brackets -- the link you added [https://artontherun.club/] shows up like this: [1] which is improper because it has no title, just a number. When you want links to appear on separate lines in an infobox, you need to separate them with "<br>", short for "line break", otherwise they will show up on the same line.
- Special:Diff/1187700442: These are also unsourced facts, so they need to be removed if they aren't externally verifiable with a link or in a book or something of that nature. In this case, I was able to verify them with a web search so I added references to your statements so they can stay. Also, external links to a website generally don't belong in article text, with the exception of the "external links" section or the website infobox parameter.
- Special:Diff/1187701007: Because Magnolia Lafleur is a redirect to Magnolia Howell, there is no reason to wiki-link it.
- Thanks again for contributing though! It's always good to have another editor. --Habst (talk) 01:32, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! I had no idea. She is currently attending Laguna College of Art and Design in the Masters Program, getting her MFA. She is signed up officially at the School as Magnolia Howell but her studio practice is under Lafleur. That being said it's not on Google but she does attend there. Not everything is listed online I suppose.
- As for her age, some biographies don't have it and as because she's working as a fine artist now she is keeping her age private as it impacts her industry.
- As for the name link I was attempting to create a separate page to Magnolia Lafleur as she has been published under that pen name..so Her Magnolia Lafleur would include her journalism publications and art as a public figure undet that name...if thats possible.
- I really want to thank you for taking the time to send me this information and corrections. I am not aware of the rules and dont want to be in violation of them so thank you most kindly for your feedback Nd help. Much appreciated 🙏🏻 SAManager (talk) 07:48, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, and re: your question about uploading an image -- most common image types (PNG, JPEG, GIF, etc) should work. Are you logged in to your account and did you try to upload the image via the upload wizard at c:Special:UploadWizard? So I can help you further, what specific error message were you seeing in the rejection? Also remember that you need to own the copyrights to the photo, i.e. it can't be someone else's photo that you downloaded from the internet for copyright reasons. --Habst (talk) 01:39, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Creating pages of Sudanese Army & Sudanese Navy
[edit]Hello,
Sudanese Army and Sudanese Navy - two service branches of the Sudanese Armed Forces have no Wikipedia pages. Service branches of other country’s armed forces have separate pages about them, except Sudan.
I noticed in Wikipedia:WikiProject Sudan that you're interested in ongoing political matters. That's why, I'm requesting you to create pages about the two service branches. As a civil war is happening in Sudan right now, I think the military forces deserve separate wikipedia pages. I've added their names in 'Article Requests' at Wikipedia:WikiProject Sudan.
Thank you! Ragnarvrollo (talk) 17:29, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Ragnarvrollo,
- I absolutely agree. However, my practice in new pages is basically to create stubs with a couple sources to avoid draftification and let the community expand it. I rarely perform serious heavy lifting in terms of large content creation.
- I would suggest that you ask @FuzzyMagma if you want something like that. I would be happy to improve the article once it’s been created.
- Also, apologies for the late reply.
- Cheers, RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 03:37, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- thanks for the tag. The Russian version, ru:Сухопутные войска Судана, for the Sudanese Army (redirect) exits, so it can be a good start. Same for Navy at it:Marina militare sudanese FuzzyMagma (talk) 14:02, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- @FuzzyMagma, any further action on this? How can I help? In the case of the ruwiki article, at this point my language proficiency in military-related articles is probably at a useful level. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 13:13, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- I have not done anything, I am currently focusing on Sudanese Popular Resistance including Al-Bara' ibn Malik Battalion and Popular Defence Forces. If you can start, I am happy to help FuzzyMagma (talk) 03:28, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- Oh cool, yeah I’ll see if I can find time. It’s pretty hectic IRL right now but I’m sure I could get a draft started at some point soon :) RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 23:02, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

Foreign involvement in the Russian invasion of Ukraine
[edit]Hello, RadioactiveBoulevardier. This is a courtesy notice that the copy edit you requested for Foreign involvement in the Russian invasion of Ukraine at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page is now complete. All feedback welcome! Cheers, Baffle☿gab 13:38, 24 December 2023 (UTC) |
- Hi RadioactiveBoulevardier, this is a rather large article and will take me at least a few days to go through. Since this war is ongoing, I'll probably stop if there's any drive-by reverting, edit-warring, etc., though it looks fairly stable from the history. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 18:36, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks! RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 18:41, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi again RadioactiveBoulevardier, I've now finished this article:
- I've converted the article into American English, which I noticed was the dominant style of the article. There were, however, many uses of British spellings in there. Having checked the history for the original style, I saw the first version was a fork of another article, so I've left a note on the talk page and I'm not bothered if you want to change it.
- I've incorporated material from Belarusian involvement in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which was transcluded into this article. Transcluded text can't easily be copy-edited and kept consistent with one article, so I thought it best to fork that section. See the talk page for details.
- I noticed quite a lot of over-citation going on, which I've marked with [excessive citations] tags.
- I rearranged some material, and renamed some sections and sub-sections.
- I moved one off-topic paragraph with its citations to the talk page.
- Anything else should be recorded in my edit summaries, but feel free to ask me about specific changes. Good luck with the article and cheers, Baffle☿gab 13:38, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks!
- I appreciate the detailed summary of the work.
- Re:AmE, I'm assuming there was no TP banner? I know that Russian invasion of Ukraine and Prelude to the Russian invasion of Ukraine (the latter of which is being brought to GA standard) both officially use BrE, but this seems to be honored mainly in the breach and I've previously mulled seeking consensus to change it. Cheers, RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 13:49, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
- No problem;
yes, there is a BrEng TP banner, which I didn't notice of check for. I'm sorry for missing it. Unless there's a strong tie, I tend to rely of article content to determine the variety. Other editors haven't enforced the TP banner, and there was no single existing variety in the original forked material, so the TP banner is moot. There is no BrEng TP banner at Talk:Foreign involvement in the Russian invasion of Ukraine; I must have had a different talk page open; sorry. Also, there's no rule to say a series of articles without strong ties must share the same variety. Whatever variety is used, it should be used consistently throughout. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 18:28, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
- No problem;

Would you please edit your proposal to omit the casting of WP:ASPERSIONS at me? This is rude, and not the right way to start a discussion, much less a formal project discussion. If you think I’ve done something wrong, please take it to an admin forum instead of trying to poison a discussion up front with it. —Michael Z. 17:28, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- I will review my post and the linked essay and see. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 22:58, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- Better now?
- Also I’m confused how it would “poison” a discussion, but anyway your suggested alternative is worth considering, despite the magnitude of endeavor it would entail. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 03:28, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Dispute resolution noticeboard discussion about Russo-Ukrainian War
[edit]Hello, you have recently participated in a discussion at Talk:Russo-Ukrainian War#Belligerents: supported by Belarus about the role of Belarus in the Russo-Ukrainian War and how it should be presented in this article. Consequently, I inform you that a new Dispute resolution noticeboard discussion (see here: Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard#Russo-Ukrainian War) was started about the role of Belarus in the Russo-Ukrainian War and how it should be presented in this article. I think that a WP:RFC will be necessary to solve this serious dispute, but I believe that it should be organized by a qualified dispute solver via the Dispute resolution noticeboard. Your opinion is welcome in the new discussion. -- Pofka (talk) 10:32, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Fair enough on 'unfounded' being superfluous, but I don't understand your comment about Twinkle? — Czello (music) 11:52, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

- I can't say I've seen a policy that states that (correct me if I'm wrong). I used the 'restore this version' function as it's the quickest way to revert, but doesn't state that it's vandalism that's being undone. — Czello (music) 11:56, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- It appears you’re mostly right and I was confused by superficial similarities with past experiences where people abused Twinkle agaonst policy. I’m very tired and perhaps should log off and go to sleep. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 12:08, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- No worries! I think it's a common belief, actually, as rollbacks used to use the word "vandalism" in the edit summary, but I think they changed that. Have a good one! — Czello (music) 12:20, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Prince Constantine Alexios of Greece and Denmark (4th nomination)
[edit]Hello, RadioactiveBoulevardier,
I think this discussion is what we would consider a "close call" which means that it is not a good discussion for an NAC closer to handle. It was also the fourth AFD discussion for this article which also complicates the situation. Just giving you a head's up that your closure might be challenged and head to Deletion review. You can avoid incidents like this by reviewing guidelines on NAC closures, particularly Wikipedia:Non-admin closure#General cautions. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 19:42, 11 April 2024 (UTC)

Reply to your comment at "Trumpism"
[edit]Replying here rather than at the Trumpism page, per WP:NOTFORUM.
Although I assume most users have good intentions, I could not agree more that "quite openly seek(ing) to co-opt selected RS...to support a predetermined statement driven by specific editor-held views" is common, almost omnipresent, in Wikipedia's articles about modern American politics.
It's not good. At all. I think it's very dangerous.
It hurts Wikipedia's quality and reputation, and, given Wikipedia's immense reach and influence, it hurts political discourse in the United States, which is already dangerously polarized and muddled.
In the past 2 or 3 years, I've been thinking a lot about how this could be fixed. If you agree that this is a major issue in need of a solution, we should talk about it - here, publicly, or via email. Philomathes2357 (talk) 00:28, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- I’m reachable via email, although I use a separate address for WP so my reply times aren’t instant.
- Cheers, RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 07:27, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- This is all assuming bad faith muchly. Bottle it, don't expand it. You're both heading down the wrong path. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 16:32, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- I have sent you an email. By no means do I anticipate or expect an "instant" reply, so no worries there. Take care. Philomathes2357 (talk) 20:15, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- It hasn't arrived yet. That's odd. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 20:26, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, Valjean, that comment was meant for @RadioactiveBoulevardier. But if you want to correspond privately, you're always free to do so.
- And, just to be clear, I have not assumed bad faith here - I assume most users have good intentions and they sincerely think that they are doing the right thing. Bad faith (often COI-based) POV pushing certainly does exist, but those users are the exception, not the rule. Philomathes2357 (talk) 20:31, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- Ah! Thanks for clearing that up. Carry on. -- Valjean (talk) (PING me) 20:36, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
