Hi
I want a answer from this. Please watch this. If it is for deletion the tag this or I myself will tag this. But if not for deletion then remove the tag. It breaks my Userbox Gallery.--Pratyya(Hello!) 09:40, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry but your query sounds as not as it should be. However, as I understood it, the tag is "like" breaking your gallery. The tag acts like a banner and is used to notify editors that a page is under a deletion discussion. Also, it is used to identify an article that it is nominated for deletion. The tag should be there until the discussion is closed. If you remove the tag, it seems that it will make the page being not nominated for deletion. For an example, you saw an article breaking some important policies that builds Wikipedia and it needs to be speedily deleted, for that article to be removed, you will add an appropriate tag then that article will be categorized on some dashboards for that admins will know on what pages should be deleted. And that's why that tag should remain. If you want, remove the userbox temporarily until the discussion is closed for your gallery not be messed up. Thanks and have a nice day!Mediran (t • c) 11:03, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Being an Admin
Hello Mediran, is it hard to be an admin? I want to become one but I think my appeal will be unsucessful because of my low edit number (84). How can I make my appeal successful? Hz.tiang (talk) 03:16, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Mediran is not an admin at the moment. :P But 84 edits? Don't think that's enough as you probably need more experience. Admins should be able to help other users and be "role models", so need to have experience. Cheers! Arctic Kangaroo 03:23, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hmmm, then how much edits do I need to be an admin? Reverting vandalized pages without the rollback feature is quite troublesome! I need more edits! Hz.tiang (talk) 03:26, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- My answer: Hello Hz.tiang! Your query sounds persuasive but being an admin is a very hard responsibility to fulfill. One must know on how Wikipedia works and you should have already done some admin tasks available for non-admins like patrolling new pages, recent changes patrolling and the like. Anyone can be an admin. You should just must have the trust of the community for them to grant you the rights. You can visit WP:GRFA. This page is a guide on how RfA works and the processes on how to become an admin. But I recommend you to visit User:Kudpung/RfA criteria. This will help you. What's in a name
First and foremost, I very much appreciate your help with renaming the Palladium Books image files. Regarding those you declined to rename, I wonder if I might be able to persuade you to reconsider by providing a bit more depth to the rationale underlying my requests.
The following image files
- File:TMNT After The Bomb.jpg
- File:TMNT Road Hogs.jpg
- File:TMNT Mutants Down Under.jpg
- File:TMNT Mutants of the Yucatan.jpg
- File:Mutants in Avalon.jpg
- File:Mutants in Orbit.jpg
- File:After The Bomb 2001.jpg
are all part of the After the Bomb (ATB) role-playing game series. Although it was originally conceived as a one-off supplement for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness (TMNT&OS) RPG series, ATB developed into and is now considered to be a distinct and separate series – especially considering that TMNT&OS is long since defunct and has been out of print for more than a decade. For this reason, I felt the "TMNT" component of the file names listed above was inaccurate, if not altogether misleading, which is why I requested that it be changed to "ATB RPG" (or added in those cases where there is currently no such qualifier). Furthermore, File:TMNT After The Bomb.jpg and File:After The Bomb 2001.jpg are the first and second editions, respectively, of the RPG series core rulebook, and I sought to highlight this important distinction with the file name changes I proposed in those two instances (other Palladium Books image file names specify editions where relevant, which was also the basis of the name-change request for File:Palladium Fantasy Role-Playing Game.jpg).
Speaking of TMNT&OS, these image files
- File:TMNT and Other Strangeness.jpg
- File:TMNT Guide To The Universe.jpg
- File:Transdimensional TMNT.jpeg
- File:TMNT Truckin Turtles.jpg
- File:Turtles Go Hollywood.jpg
are all part of that particular RPG series. As you can see, the naming scheme is quite inconsistent among this set of files. Excepting the first entry on the above list (it has its own specific name-change request), I proposed adding "TMNT&OS RPG" to the beginning of these file names for two reasons: to impose some measure of consistency, and to distinguish these images from others related to theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles media franchise, which I believe a mere "TMNT" fails to accomplish.
If I were uploading these images for the first time, the names I proposed in my "rename media" requests are the ones I would use, and I am confident that each of them would qualify as a "good" file name in accordance with Wikipedia guidelines. Unfortunately, I am coming in behind others, but I think (and think you might agree) that my efforts should not necessarily be constrained by theirs. I did not suggest changing these file names just for the sake of changing them, neither was I aiming for cosmetic improvements or trying to put my own personal stamp on them; I wanted to take something that most would consider "adequate" or "good enough" and make it substantively better.
However this may turn out, I hope at the very least that I have adequately conveyed my intentions to you. Many thanks for taking a moment to read this. — Apo-kalypso (talk) 12:57, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- Well, you're welcome for those "thank you" you overthrown to me. Anyway, yes, you have good reasons for renaming those images but unfortunately, file names are not much recognized in Wikipedia. Having naming schemes for such images related to a certain categorization is not necessary. Wikipedia has no naming schemes about its files, just when the file name can be easily read and has no violations against its policies, then that's a good filename to be used in Wikipedia. For an example, a file named "File:WikipediansTakesNewYork'07.jpg" is a good filename and should not be renamed to "File:Wikipedians Takes New York'07.jpg" to make it beautiful and more appealing or to make it uniform with other related files. Well, I'm with you in regards of changing those file names or by adding such words. However, its really unnecessary and I see no reasons to change it in accordance of WP:FMV/W. I don't know but for me, those filenames are good enough and no changes should be made. You may consider to send a renaming request at CAT:RENAMEagain and see if other filemovers or admins will comply with what you're pursuing. I'm really sorry to decline your requests but that's what I see. Thanks, Mediran (t • c) 10:52, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Likewise, having 2 redirect at a same page and 1 redirect to another target and a merge to another target again is confusing so I relisted the page to garner more !votes on what article the page being discussed should be redirected. However, should you, I or someone can close the discussion now? Since you said that the debate has enough !votes to achieve consensus. Relisting at AfD
Hi Mediran. Please could you stop relisting AfD discussions that have already been relisted twice? For example, today you relistedWikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hacienda Juanita which had already been relisted three times, and I have noticed a number of similar discussions that you have relisted recently. In this kind of situation, I think it would be better to let an admin make the decision on whether to relist or not. I see that a few other people have been unhappy with your relisting work recently as well, and I worry that it is getting to the stage where people might think it is disruptive. I think it would be a good idea to stop now, before someone feels the need to go to WP:RFC/U or WP:ANI about it. Sorry to be negative about this, but I hope you will understand. Also, If we're going to add a new barnstar for our project, we should add a request at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Wikipedia Awards. Mediran (t • c) 00:34, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- I asked you to make our barnstar background red and green because of our flag. I mean Bangladesh flag. See our flag. And I was inspired about the red and green colour for the File:IPL Barnstar 2.svg.--Pratyya(Hello!) 02:55, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- How about this? I rewrite it as you've said. Mediran (t •c) 06:25, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- It's nice. Just one problem. Put the red square at the middle. It's slide up and left. After this it'll be allright. And tell me what do I need to do about requesting at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Wikipedia Awards?--Pratyya(Hello!) 09:41, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Are you sure you want to shift the red circle to the right? I just derived it exactly according to your flag which is the red part is not exactly centered. But if that is, I'll shift it. Also, you have asked me to how to add a request. To request, just add the description of the award and tell why is it needed to be a part of Wikipedia or somewhat like that. PS... before I upload another version, do you think I should shift the red circle a little to the right because according to your flag, the circle is not really centered. Thanks, Mediran (t • c) 09:47, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- I need to tell you something. Our flag's ratio is 10:6. And the circle should be 1/5 of the rectangle's size.--Pratyya(Hello!) 09:59, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yes now much better. Now do I need to request at WP Awards. Is this important?--Pratyya(Hello!) 10:04, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Of course it is. According to WP:BARNSTAR, "If you would like a barnstar to be added to the list, please discuss it atWikiProject Wikipedia Awards talk page. Please don't add it without a consensus! Barnstars without consensus will be removed. ". Mediran(t • c) 10:08, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- PS I see that the request is just for the inclusion in the list. But I see that there are existing Wikipedia awards that doesn't need to go through a consensus like the award of IPL. But I guess t doesn't need a request because that is just for an inclusion.Mediran (t • c) 10:13, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- You sure I do not need to request?--Pratyya (Hello!) 10:16, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

- Wouldn't it be better if the name of the barnstar was BPL Barnstar of Merit? I needed some name and saw your given name. I liked that.--Pratyya (Hello!) 10:22, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Wikidata
These links come from wikidata now. Like I said in the edit summary. 86.44.163.139 (talk) 02:20, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hey! Well, thanks for this query but unfortunately, you removed the interwiki links and these interwiki links serves as a link to other Wikipedia languages with the same coverage. Yes, if you click the "Edit links" at the section you're referring to, it will lead you to Wikidata. The Wikidata link serves as a quick editing interface to add, remove or edit another interwiki link. Hope this make you clear about that issue you're referring to. Thanks, Mediran(t • c) 02:35, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Um no. Wikidata is now the source for these links for the English, Hungarian, Hebrew and Italian Wikipedias (with the other Wikipedias to follow later this month). These local links now override the ones from Wikidata.[1]86.44.163.139(talk) 02:42, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, the Wikidata now links interwiki links from other languages and I see nothing wrong about it and removal of interwiki links are not necessary. The language section you can see at the sidebar is a navigational tool for you to locate that particular article in other languages existing. I don't see any problems with that related to Wikidata now. Mediran (t • c) 02:54, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- I think the IP's edit is fine. Here is the version of the article after the IP removed the interwiki links - observe that the left hand sidebar still shows the links. They come from Wikidata; they are not needed in the Wikipedia article any more. Have a look at the recent changes to Help:Interlanguage links and the new page Wikipedia:Wikidata. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:45, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Links on the page itself override the links coming fron wikidata, for this reason it is preferable to remove then :).·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 19:52, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Ahhh... so they are automatically coming from Wikidata so that, even if the interwiki links are not there, the links will still be shown because of Wikidata. Umm... sorry for that mistake. Sorry, I'm not really aware of that new feature.... Anyway, Have a nice day and thank you very much. ;) Mediran (t • c) 00:55, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

- No problems. I've expanded both Help:Interlanguage links and WP:WDATA to try and better explain what's going on. I see you speak another language. It might be a good idea to start updating the equivalent pages in those languages before they start getting their links from Wikidata to prevent similar confusion there. Just a thought. 86.44.163.139 (talk) 01:21, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

I just wanted to make you aware of discussion I started at Winter storm naming. I have no intentions of making any changes to the article myself, but was just hoping to get input from editors previously involved in the article (or recently-closed AfD) in an effort to improve the article and clarify its purpose. I will leave any changes to the consensus of other editors who decide what's best. Your participation would be welcome, regardless of your views on the issue. - Hey Ami! Well, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions! Anyway, I see that you have had recently created pages which violated some of Wikipedia policies. If you're going to create a page, make sure it's not promotional and is written inneutral point of view. It must also have sources for coverage, verifiability and notability. Lastly, it must not violate WP:CORP if it is about a company or a corporation but I see that you're referring to a company. Here's a tip, create a page under your own userspace like creating your own draft here or in your ownsandbox. Thanks, Mediran (t • c) 11:28, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

Humboldt State University
Greetings, I hope you can help. I noticed you reverted multiple edits to Humboldt State University and it looks like that is again needed. I don't know how to revert multiple edits or I would do it. Thank you so much for your help! Ellin Beltz(talk) 06:50, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Ellin! I guess you're referring to this edit. I reverted the revision of that anonymous user because he added a Facebook link that seems to be invalid to be placed in an article. It is also recognized as vandalism. Anyway, here's a tip for you to revert edits. Go to your preference page then go to the Gadgets tab. Click theTwinkle checkbox to enable Twinkle in your account. Twinkle is a user gadget that helps user to do tasks in reverting vandalism and such. Please see WP:REVERT for more info in reverting edits. Hope this helps. Non-admin relists
I find that some of the relists you peformed last night to be questionable. You relisted debates where there were no keep votes at all. Stuff should be relisted only if there are about equal numbers of keep and non-keep votes pbp 16:09, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. pbp 16:19, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hey pbp! Thank you for your concern about my 'bad' relistings but I see no problems in regards of my works. I see that you have reported me to ANI. And, as a result, they've closed it down speedily for there are no problems. Anyway, I relisted multiple AfD's yesterday for it doesn't have clear and thorough consensus. I also see that your concern is that I should not have relisted the AfD because it doesn't have keep !votes. Yes, that's true but having 'Merge' and 'Redirect' !votes from participant w/out a clear targeted page, that doesn't clearly states a consensus at all. Thanks though. Mediran(t • c) 08:58, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Midiran. While I agree that it was too soon to take the issue to ANI, for the record, the case was dismissed because no one had bothered to resolve the issue before going to ANI, not because of the merits of your relists. At the very least, there have been editors who questioned your relisting at the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vilify (song) - For instance, in that case, usually 3 Keeps and a Redirect, without any sort of heated arguments or BLP type issues, usually doesn't merit a relist.
- Anyways, it's not like you're doing anything terrible, and it certainly isn't worth going to ANI over, but I do think it something worth thinking about. Thanks! Sergecross73 msg me 17:51, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for that Sergecross73! Anyway, I relisted the discussion due to there are 3 keep !votes and a redirect in which there is also an uncertain !vote for to keep or to redirect. Also, there's a delete !vote of course from the nom himself. But if you think my relist on that discussion, or even the rest of my relisting works was not appropriate or something not necessary, sorry for those. Thanks though. ;) Mediran (t • c) 07:54, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

File:Rotationtheorem.svg listed at Redirects for discussion
An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect File:Rotationtheorem.svg. Since you had some involvement with theFile:Rotationtheorem.svg redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). —JmaJeremy✆✎ 13:21, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

AFD relist
Hi mate! Thought I would let you know that I'm going to move to have this AFD closed. You had no way of knowing but I've had it at WP:ANRFC for a week (since your last relist) without reply. No criticism of either relist, but I thought you should know before I drop the corps a note at AN. Cheers, Stalwart111 09:53, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- Real sorry about that. I'll be more careful next time. Cheers. Mediran (t • c) 10:00, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- Nothing to be sorry for; no harm done at all. You can't be expected to trawl ANRFC before re-listing things. Certainly not at AFD - if we expected that then nothing would get re-listed. Keep up the good work! Cheers mate, Stalwart111 10:16, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you. :) Regards, Mediran (t • c) 12:14, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

File moves
Hi there . A redirect created by a filemove, especially when the filename also exists on commons also or is very ambiguous, can just be marked for speedy deletion using the {{db-r3}} template. I've changed those you've raised today for you! Cheers,Nikthestunned 10:47, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you very much Nikthestunned! I did nominated a file for speedy deletion of R3 a while ago but I contested it for according to WP:CSD, This criterion does not apply to redirects created as a result of a page move that's why I declined it. I don't know but thanks though. :) Mediran (t • c) 10:53, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- Really can't see why anyone would decline an r3 from a file-move - it's just creating more hassle for everyone! Certainly when the original-file-names are this generic. I used to use f3 but was instructed not to... Seems a new specific speedy-delete reason might be in order! Nikthestunned 10:59, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's right! Thank you really for that short note. I think we should have a new criterion for this kind of situation I think if its necessary but it's already been used to use R3 for file-move redirects. Just if it's necessary but thank you very much for your work earlier on CSD-ing those reently created redirects. :) Mediran (t • c) 11:06, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

Your votes at RfA
Mediran, on Binksternet's RfA you have both supported and opposed the candidate. I have temporarily indented both of your votes, meaning that neither will be counted. At your convenience, please pick one vote, and either leave the other one indented or remove it completely. Thank you. --(ʞɿɐʇ) ɐuɐʞsǝp 12:15, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- Ohh sorry about that, I've forgot to strikethrough my support !vote.. I'll fix it right away.. Thanks! :) Mediran (t •c) 12:17, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

R3 tags for filemoves
When you move a file from one title to another, please do not tag the resulting redirect with {{db-r3}} as you did atFile:BP1.JPG. As the R3 section of WP:CSD says, "This criterion does not apply to redirects created as a result of a page move", which is largely because when looking at the history of a redirect, we need to judge how long the title has been a blue link, and that's not as simple with a redirect created by a pagemove as with one created as a normal redirect. Basically, my point is thathttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BP1.JPG has been a working URL since 2007, so even without the bit that I quoted in my second sentence, it's not a recently created redirect. If someone's bookmarked the file or linked to it from somewhere else on the Internet, having the redirect deleted will hurt that person; the point of the criterion is to get rid of unuseful redirects that are so new that we can presume that nobody's linked or bookmarked them. Nyttend (talk) 03:00, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- Hey Nyttend! I don't know but it was recently instructed to me by another user that R3 is applicable in filemoves, even RHaworthdeleted the files I nominated for that criterion. The filename I recently nominated is not a plausible redirect to the file it's currently targeted. Thanks though. Mediran (t • c) 03:10, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- In that case, the person who instructed you isn't sufficiently familiar with the criteria. Of course I'm not arguing against looking to WP:IAR, but the only way I can see us properly ignoring this provision is when the original page is quite new; imagine that someone uploads "File:ubfoubrbgourdbogudbrohbdouhburdouhubodhbdouhubdohr.jpg" and within a day or two it's moved to "File:Relevant name.jpg". Using the no-pagemoves wording of R3 to prevent the deletion of File:ubfoub....jpg would be thoroughly unhelpful, purely because there's not been enough time for people to start making links to it. Meanwhile, I've often found RHaworth deleting things over-hastily; I've also restored a bunch of filespace-to-filespace redirects that he deleted under R2, such as File:Rifts chaos earth.jpeg — R2 is only for mainspace redirects to other namespaces, but someone (not you) tagged them for R2 and he deleted them despite the fact that they weren't in mainspace. Nyttend (talk) 03:30, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I see that it's very not helpful or anything. But one more thing, how about if a Wikipedia file shadows Commons and it was recently moved to something more descriptive, do I need to discuss the created redirect that shadows Commons at WP:RFD or just tag it with {{db-r3}} as what was discussed here, here and here? Thanks and cheers too and also thanks for your help! :)Mediran (t • c) 11:21, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- Those aren't R3 candidates, but they are F2 candidates. It's a pity that we can't keep them, but unshadowing Commons images is important, and anyway someone who follows the redirect will still get an image. Nyttend (talk) 12:48, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- So F2 is really appropriate in these cases. Thanks and you've been very helpful. Mediran (t •c) 13:09, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Joy to the World.ogg
A tag has been placed on File:Joy to the World.ogg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
