DYK for Gorbachev Pizza Hut commercial
[edit]On 3 April 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gorbachev Pizza Hut commercial, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gorbachev Pizza Hut commercial. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Gorbachev Pizza Hut commercial), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. PS/2 laptops and ThinkPad relationship
[edit]Hello, PhotographyEdits! Some time ago I start thinking about early ThinkPad lines and PS/2 lines relationship, and, so, in My mind occasionally was created the new scheme of successions. What do You think about this scheme? ThisIsNotABetter (talk) 23:08, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- @ThisIsNotABetter: Nice work, but where should this table be located? In the ThinkPad article itself? It still need some rows for the 200 and 500 series in my view. PhotographyEdits (talk) 09:37, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks! This table just more about predecessors that a ThinkPad itself. I also try to make a rough expanded version (with most of PS/55 models), You can check this page again. I currently don't know, where this table can be integrated properly; maybe, this table can be integrated with new semi-disambig page page with IBM laptops (or similar) name? List of Deutsche Bahn subsidiaries moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, List of Deutsche Bahn subsidiaries, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ... discospinster talk 03:28, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

Please stop unbolding titles
[edit]Would you please refrain from removing the bolding from article ledes? You seem to have developed a mistaken idea of what MOS:AVOIDBOLD is about. The first mention of the article's subject in the lede is explicitly required to be bolded (absent a few special circumstances, like long composite titles that essentially constitute sentences). See Wikipedia:Lead dos and don'ts, third bullet under DO'S; and MOS:BOLDALTNAMES. Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 23:09, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Elmidae Recently I have removed the bold title from various flag-related articles, in which I reached consensus about it with other editors. For example, Flag of Italy. Before I edited that article, the lead sentence was: "The flag of Italy (Italian: Bandiera d'Italia, Italian: [banˈdjɛːra diˈtaːlja]), often referred to in Italian as il Tricolore (English: the Tricolour, Italian: [il trikoˈloːre]), is the national flag of Italy." I still think that a lot of those flag related articles are in violation of WP:REDUNDANCY because they want to link to the articles national flag, the name of the country *and* mention the article title in bold without links. You said there are a few special circumstances, but the policy says "If the article's title does not lend itself to being used easily and naturally in the opening sentence". That seems like a rather broad exception to the rule. I think that Climate of Argentina is in violation of MOS:BOLDLINKAVOID and that Material properties of diamond is violating MOS:TITLEABSENTBOLD. Let me know what you think about that. I think your remaining reverts are justified and on top of that I don't want to start an edit war. PhotographyEdits (talk) 17:10, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hi - sorry, I'm keeping unsteady hours these days. There's often a fair amount of YMMV in assessing the lede title (and clearly there are many fairly tortous examples of forcing the article name into the first sentence against all good jugdement). I think the main issue with the articles you mention is that notion that the linking of the term also has to happen as early as possible, whereas the more suitable handling seems to be that it's just fine if such a link only enters in a later sentence. E.g., for Climate of Argentina I think the sensible solution would be to drop the link, not drop the bolding? Re Material properties of diamond, on reflection I probably misspoke there - can't come up with a graceful way to avoid the MOS:TITLEABSENTBOLD issue, so I've reverted. Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 11:46, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted
[edit]Hi PhotographyEdits, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Schwede66 09:37, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Logo of SerenityOS.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Logo of SerenityOS.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. Your GA nomination of NSA ANT catalog
[edit]The article NSA ANT catalog you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:NSA ANT catalog for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Speedy deletion nomination of Ariadne Conill
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Ariadne Conill requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. DYK for NSA ANT catalog
[edit]On 13 May 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article NSA ANT catalog, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that after the ANT catalog of espionage tools by the National Security Agency were leaked to the public, they were implemented as open-source tools? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/NSA ANT catalog. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, NSA ANT catalog), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Portraid of Matthew Morris Aid.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Portraid of Matthew Morris Aid.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.
The article The worst person you know has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
WP:NOTNEWS, trivia of the day.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 08:41, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @Fram, I have removed the notice, explaining my rationale in the edit description. What I forgot to explicitly mention is that these sources make the article meet the WP:GNG. PhotographyEdits (talk) 08:47, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Fram in your edit you stated "No reason to give this more attention than what is already in the list". Why? If secondary, reliable, independent sources have written more about the subject, then this can be included. The article can be expanded based on the current sources, but then it could become too long for the list in the article about internet phenomena. PhotographyEdits (talk) 09:02, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- It's one of countless memes, trivia which occasionally gets attention, and per WP:BLP why should we further spread the name of the poor person who has been misused by "social" media everywhere? The meme exists, the person was not aware of it, didn't ask for it, and has no reason to be the face of it: what more is there to tell about it? That he didn't know and that some media searched for him, how worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia...
- @Fram: Yes, there are a lot of memes, but we have policies of what is worthy of inclusion such as the WP:GNG. It has gotten attention by multiple media over a longer period of time. If you read The Guardian source, you'll read that he has accepted being a meme. Also, if WP:BLP is applied, the same information cannot be added to the list article as well. I think BLP is not a valid rationale for deletion of this article. PhotographyEdits (talk) 09:13, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

- Hi PhotographyEdits. It was just the mainspace links I was thinking of, as I'd agree best not touch other people's userspace links. Looking at Special:WhatLinksHere/Mies it all seems fine though, so I think it might have been a case of me looking at an older version of that page or my browser cache not refreshed, but in either case my mistake. Kaseya vis-a-vis WP:NOTABILITY
[edit]Hey there! So, sorry for the anon account, it's been years since I logged into Wikipedia and I'm probably gonna need to reset my password, but I'm not even sure I remember the username lol. Anyway, so I was looking at the whole saga regarding Kaseya and their flagrant WP:SPAM abuse over the past 15 years. I think they probably failed WP:NOTABILITY back when they first started trying to spam wikipedia, but I am pretty sure the issue now is not notability so much as it is that the only people likely to write a complete article are salesbots from Kaseya that are just going to fill it back up with promotional spam again.
In many ways I think this is a case of "you get what you deserve", but for complicated reasons I _might_ be motivated to try and write a neutral, well-sourced, and informative article about the company and submit it as a draft in my user space (once I recover my account lol). This is the first encounter I've had with WP:SALT haha so I'm not even sure what the process would be for that. And in any case, I mean, I was wondering if there's even a snowball's chance in hell of it happening. I admit they are kinda right on the edge for WP:NOTABILITY. There are plenty of smaller companies that have Wikipedia articles, but then again two wrongs don't make a right.. but then again, for better or worse, they are a pretty big player in their industry now, and just got a lot bigger with the acquisition of Datto. I feel like they meet the de facto thresholds for notability, it's just that their overly aggressive PR drones have poked the hornet's nest one too many times.
Anyway, let me know what you think. If you think this is all stupid and a waste of time, I won't be offended. I'm not even sure I _want_ to do it, I mean, like I say, you kinda get what you deserve. Thanks for listening, heh 8.41.72.250 (talk) 18:13, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
- Woot, I remembered my username! Holy smokes, it's been like 13 years since I edited regularly, omg Jaysweet (talk) 01:03, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- If it meets the WP:GNG, sure, go ahead. I have no experience with the WP:SALT policy either. I'm not going to AfD your article on the basis of WP:PROMO, but I can't give any guarantee what other editors will do. You have been warned :-). PhotographyEdits (talk) 10:41, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Jaysweet Also, welcome back to Wikipedia and have fun editing! PhotographyEdits (talk) 10:41, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you! And yeah, I know you can't guarantee what other people will say, I just picked you as somebody who had 86'd the article in the not-to-distant past, to kinda get a feel for folks' temperature on this. I may give it a shot. My primary motivation, to be honest, is just to prove that it's not that hard to write a neutral and well-sourced article lol. OTOH, I kinda feel like the fact that Kaseya redirects to the ransomware attack is sweet sweet justice. We'll see, maybe I'll just disappear, maybe I'll come back in a few days with an article. Thanks again for answering! Jaysweet (talk) 13:21, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Jaysweet Also, welcome back to Wikipedia and have fun editing! PhotographyEdits (talk) 10:41, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Jaysweet Looking at the history of the article, it was me that merged the company article to the incident article. I'm fine to have a separate article, but please try to write more than a single paragraph of information that is unrelated to the ransomware incident. 11:29, 29 August 2022 (UTC) PhotographyEdits (talk) 11:29, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, my plan (if I do it) is to model it after similar articles about similarly-sized companies, covering the basic facts, history of acquisitions, etc. There should be plenty of 3rd party sources, albeit most of it is going to be trade press rather than mainstream press (but I can tell the difference between a republished press release vs an actual article lol so I should be able to keep it reliable). The acquisition history alone is probably starting to meet the notability guidelines, as Kaseya has been pretty aggressive in gobbling up other players in the MSP space. Idk, we'll see. Thanks again! Jaysweet (talk) 13:31, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

Hector Martin / Near & Kiwi Farms
[edit]Hi, I was checking out the page on Hector Martin, and noticed you created a link in the See also section to the Kiwi Farms article. Looks like somebody reverted your change, removing a special subsection header about Near, therefore the Kiwi Farms § Near link doesn't work as expected.
What about perhaps creating a section on Hector Martin's page? It could cover his struggles with Kiwi Farms, the harassment he has faced due to the death of Near, and calls for Cloudflare to end support, etc.
Just a thought. I don't know if there are enough sources that specifically mention Hector Martin in relation to Near and Kiwi Farms, but I'm sure we could come up with a few sentences to cover the subject. I would be happy to help a bit, if you wanted to take the lead on such an addition to the article.

New Pages Patrol newsletter January 2023
[edit]Hello PhotographyEdits,
- Backlog
The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.
- 2022 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!
Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)
New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js
to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js
Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.

The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

Just adding that there was a controversy about tolls before the canal opened is pretty meaningless. If it's important enough to be in the article it needs explanation. Davidships (talk) 19:01, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Davidships I fixed it by adding a link to a section in another article. Is that sufficient? PhotographyEdits (talk) 19:30, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- Indeed that is helpful and appreciated, though a sentence or so indicating what it was about would still help the reader. Davidships (talk) 19:56, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hi PhotographyEdits! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Libreboot several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Libreboot, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023
[edit]Hello PhotographyEdits,
Backlog
Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.
Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.
Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.
You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.
Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

New pages patrol newsletter
[edit]Hello PhotographyEdits,
Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.

I saw that you were active on tech pages, including the List of computer security companies page you created, so I was hoping it might be up your alley. Hello, I wanted you to know that I restored Graham's Hierarchy of Disagreement to his biography. You noted in your edit summary that blogs and newsletters are not reliable sources, which is generally true. However I think you may have been too hasty and literal in this case. 1) The "blog" cited is under control of the subject himself and 2) the newsletter cited is a Wikipedia newsletter explaining how Wikipedia uses his Hierarchy. I have also added a source from The Guardian. When it comes to WP:GUNREL sources we can use them provided, "...The source may still be used for uncontroversial self-descriptions, and self-published or user-generated content authored by established subject-matter experts is also acceptable." Given these arguments I'm not seeing where the sourcing is so deficient as to warrant removal.
Given some admin's using Graham's Hierarchy to set discussion tone (see User talk:Beeblebrox) it would be a shame to keep this out. If you still disagree I suggest that we start a discussion on the Paul Graham talk page and invite other editors to join in. Best regards, Blue Riband► 01:18, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
- I think Paul Graham is an established expert on programming, but psychology stuff? I think it's fine to use the diagram in a Wikipedia policy page, but not in his biography. The Guardian source is a bit small to make it warrant an entire section. I am still in favor of removing it here. PhotographyEdits (talk) 17:12, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024
[edit]Hello PhotographyEdits,
Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!
2023 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

Speedy on Editorial independent
[edit]I am not a native speaker, but this redirect seems wrong, grammatically. Do you mind expanding on your reasoning for not deleting it? JackTheSecond (talk) 22:00, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
- If it is incorrect then "editorially independent" might the correct version. Might be good to request a review to double check, but speedy deletion is the wrong way to handle it. :) PhotographyEdits (talk) 22:09, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hm, I must have misunderstood something about 'unlikely spelling mistakes' qualifying for speedy, the criterion specifies 'recent creation' after all--though I think that might be because of links to a page that has been around. ~ I think I'm just going to move the page to the correct spelling. JackTheSecond (talk) 13:07, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- ... Actually, moving the page would just create another redirect page, no?
- Where does one 'request a review'? Do I open an AfD for this? Seems like a waste of editors' time to me. JackTheSecond (talk) 13:11, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for considering these changes, and I look forward to your feedback. 58.152.168.150 (talk) 15:44, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm not understanding what you want to change. Do you want changes in the Gold Apollo AR924 or Gold Apollo article? And what change exactly? PhotographyEdits (talk) 15:58, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
GlobalPlatform
[edit]Hello PhotographyEdits. I see you have recently started a draft Article-for-creation on GlobalPlatform. This is an organisation I have interest in and was surprised to see it doesn't have a page. Can you let me know your plans with this as I may be able to assist. I am not an experienced Wiki editor so not certain on the etiquette for contributing to someone's draft article. Look forward to hearing from you. Matt611 (talk) 13:16, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, please add more info but please do not use any press releases from GlobalPlatform. You can freely add more info based on academic sources, but keep it non-promotional. It will require some more bureaucracy compared to the normal article creation process, because it deleted multiple times. But I think the organization is notable and should have an article. PhotographyEdits (talk) 13:21, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, I saw that you used the GlobalPlatform website as a source for expanding the article. This can be fine for small things like citing a year or a statistic, but not fine for entire paragraphs. So I removed it. If you have found a news website you think is acceptable, please let me know first before writing the whole thing, that saves everyone effort :) PhotographyEdits (talk) 14:22, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there. Thanks for the feedback. The article was a work in progress and not really at a review stage. Re: use of "self-published" sources, such as press releases, I referred to this guidance. In the case of the "History" section, for example, the original statement by the company regarding its formation would appear to be the most appropriate way to verify factual info such as date of incorporation/founding members etc. Other sections (such as membership info) would also need to be sourced in this way, though I note your point on "entire paragraphs". FYI - I took the page on Trusted Computing Group (a similar org) as a general guide. As an inexperienced editor, your help/advice is much appreciated. Pls give me some time to complete a v2. Regards Matt611 (talk) 21:14, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- With regards to the guide, you cite, I'm interpreting the 5th item maybe a little strict, but that is justified here because I think GlobalPlatform is just on the edge of meeting the notability requirements. For such an article, it makes sense to make sure there are no sections written like that. If it is a long term established article, that's less of an issue.
- My request here is essentially: try to get the article through the new article review phase without using primary sources. If that's succeeds, let's add information based on primary sources. It makes the job of the reviewer easier as well.
- The unfortunate thing with taking other articles as examples is that established articles not necessarily follow current Wikipedia policies and guidelines, so they can be (very) misleading as examples.
- Take all the time you want for improving the article, there is no deadline! PhotographyEdits (talk) 22:28, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- I've made some more changes, but I think it's ready for review and have submitted it. This can take a month or longer, there is quite a backlog unfortunately. If you want to make changes in the meantime, that is fine, but be careful :) PhotographyEdits (talk) 17:38, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
