Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Hellraiser2-Channard cenobite.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Hellraiser2-Channard cenobite.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:57, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Re: Belt Level & Infobox Martial artist biography Template/Infobox MMAstats Template
Yeah, I've noticed. :\ Instead of adding "rank" to {{MMAstatsbox}} I think we might just as well spend our energy replacing it entirely with the far better {{Infobox Martial artist biography}} though, but unless someone comes up with an automatic (maybe through bots) or semi-automatic method of doing so it'll be a lot of work. If you're up for it, feel free to do it manually -- preferably on high-profile articles like Silva's and Florian's first. That's assuming you actually think it's better as well though. If you have any suggestions for improvements feel free to comment here. I'm especially curious what people think of the design compared to the MMAstatsbox. Cheers, --aktsu (t / c) 17:40, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds good :) You can see all fields here. I'm thinking (and it's what I have been doing) it's probably a good idea to remove the amateur, kickboxing and boxing fields if they're not applicable to save space though. I generally hate removing fields since we just end up with the situation we have now with the MMAstatsbox where it's missing a whole bunch of useful fields on pretty much all articles, but I don't think it'll be a problem in this case. --aktsu (t / c) 20:50, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- (Quick replies before I have to run:) DQs (both wins and losses) is in fact missing yeah, I'll try adding it today. The website thing is probably just an error in the documentation. Not sure what to use for weight/weight-class either. Maybe for "weight" his latest weigh-in and "weightclass" the divisions he fights at? (Also, sidenote: Silva's also fought at welterweight a few times). For "year active" we could probably list both (just use <br /> for a newline), but I'm not sure saying he's been an active boxer from 1998-2005 is very accurate, so maybe just list MMA (and clarify it's only MMA). No source for full name: no go. "Anderson da Silva" is from the NSAC so I would assume that's what his passport says. Overall, the infobox looks good IMO. I'm still a bit unsure if the design could be improved though... Cheers, --aktsu (t / c) 05:39, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Good question... How about adding "fighting out of" as a new field; that way if they happen to be different both are available? I guess "fighting out of" can in fact mean quite a lot of things... --aktsu (t / c) 15:39, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm on it, but the template isn't playing along ATM :\ BTW, I've changed "url=" to "website=" but it should still work unless you add both. I'm updating the documentation for the template as I make changes, so if you're going to implement it on other articles it's probably best to copy from there to get the newest up-to-date-version (if I make any major changes I'll probably have to manually update the articles though (unless it's easy and somewhat logical to make it backwards-compatible as in the case of url and website), so don't go implementing it on hundreds of articles yet please :P). --aktsu (t / c) 16:29, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- Nevermind, there was some backwards-compatibility already going on with the use of website= so keep using url=... --aktsu (t / c) 16:44, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Any thoughts on adding "mmatitles" to the Infobox Martial artist biography template? For Anderson Silva it could look something like: mmatitles = UFC Middleweight Champion (October 14, 2006 - Current), Cage Rage Middleweight Champion (September 11, 2004 - October 20, 2008 (defunct)), Shooto Middleweight Championship (August 26, 2001 (vacated)) --Drr-darkomen (talk) 01:30, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Re: Record discrepancy sherdog vs mixedmartialarts.com
Since Pride (the governing body) lists it as a TKO, it's a TKO. While I personally think "technical submission" is a good term for referee stoppage due to submission-attempts, it's not currently used by most governing bodies. --aktsu (t / c) 16:34, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Conversion
I hope you don't mind, but I went ahead and marked your current task as "done" on your userpage. It was over 1000 transclusions, but they have now all been converted using AWB. While I was performing the conversion, I had it clean-up around 800 incorrectly formatted weights, heights, birth dates, and reaches, to all use templates to perform the unit conversions and age calculations. I can run the same clean-up script on all transclusions of {{infobox martial artist}}
, but that will take at least a week to complete. It's a semi-automated process that requires some intervention when it discovers something unexpected. Let me know if there are any problems. I think we can safely redirect MMAstats to martial artist. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 18:25, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- I just finished running a first pass through all transclusions of
{{infobox martial artist}}
. It only took two days. A second pass would only take about an hour now that most of the problems have been cleaned up. It converted around 100 unformatted birthdates, 200 unformatted heights/weights, reformatted about 50 yearsactive fields, and moved around 6 references off the stats (which was causing expr errors). I plan to run a second pass to fill in the sherdog information, if it's in the article. Are there any other common errors? Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 03:17, 16 September 2009 (UTC) - See what you think about the Amateur record field at Mirko Filipović now. This is one way to solve the problem. There might be a better way that I just haven't thought of at the moment. I responded in more detail on my talk page. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 03:17, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Large montage picture in the Mexican American article
The pictures are okay, except for Carlos Santana, Jessica Alba, and Selena Gomez. Santana was born in Mexico and spent a significant amount of time there. Alba and Gomez are only half Mexican, I suggest that whoever made the picture montage remove Alba and put Damian Chapa in her place, and remove Santana and put Mark Sanchez or Selena in his place, and finally, remove Gomez and replace her with Richard E. Cavazos or George Lopez (best would probably be the latter just to represent Mexican diversity) or just fit all of them in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.83.14.44 (talk) 04:33, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Judo in Mixed Martial Arts
You might want to alter your rationale slightly as it is not covered in Judo, which might cause a closing admin to reject your PROD. Catfish Jim (ex-soapdish) 17:42, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and deleted the article in question as the concern about duplication was valid. I don't believe anything constructive would be achieved by reintroducing the duplication to Judo, and have redirected all relevant main redirects. Catfish Jim (ex-soapdish) 18:00, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed martial arts. Users are expected to collaborate with others and avoid editing disruptively.
In particular, the three-revert rule states that:
- Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to edit war, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.

Your request for rollback
Hi Phospheros. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Salvio Let's talk about it! 11:55, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

The Invention of Magic, and the Light Bulb
Hello Plasticspork,
I am the creator of 'The Invention of Magic, and the Light Bulb', I am creating it for my A Level Media class and I need to make a Wikipedia page about it as I want it to be as professional as possible. I have only got 4 sources whilst only 2 of them are relevant to the film, is there any chance that you could allow my page to be published? I understand if you disallow this,
Thank you,

Selena picture
Dear Phospheros
I put a picture of Selena on the Mexican American page and u took it off. Selena is the "Queen of Tejano music". You put a picture of Jennifer Pena on the page, she is also a Tejano singer. If you're going to put a picture of a Tejano singer, u have to put a picture of Selena. I put it on the page, because Selena deserves to be on that page. Every time I edit that page, you always undo all my edits, and I am tired of it. I'm not vandalising the page, I'm trying to make the page better. Fiddle Faddle 16:40, 17 October 2014 (UTC)Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello Phospheros. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

ArbCom 2017 election voter message
Hello, Phospheros. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
