Stadium of Light
Hi, I'm messaging you here because I saw the image you made of Old Trafford and was wondering if you could make a similar one of the Stadium of Light. The design of the stadium is here but I lack the skills to create the image. Cheers. Sunderland06 (talk) 12:06, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Ah ok, cheers. Sunderland06 (talk) 13:14, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- It looks good, but perhaps if there was anything I would change, it would be the lower tier, to make it into a single block without the gap, because although there is a gap its counted as just one tier. Also, the extended part of the West Stand is called the Premier Concourse. Cheers a lot. :) Sunderland06 (talk) 20:58, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe you could fit the stand names in if you had North Stand, South Stand, West Stand and East Stand inside the according stands, instead of round the outside, and just having the Kronenburg Upper and Premier Concourse on the outside, with the lower tier being merged, it'd make a little bit more space for them to fit inside, but your choice. Sunderland06 (talk) 21:10, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- Cool if you think its ready, I'll add it in straight away. P.s. if you like you could comment on its peer reivew. ;) As you've been a big help to me today, cheers. Sunderland06 (talk) 21:19, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I've left a comment at the Stadium of Light peer review about the stands. The bottom tier stands are named North, South, East and West. The upper stands are called Kronenburg upper (which is the higher tier of the North stand) and the Premier Concourse (on top of the west stand). Hope this clears it up a little bit. Tah. Sunderland06 (talk) 22:29, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- All that needs changing on the image, is the text Kronenburg Stand into "North Stand" and to remove the "Home end" part from the north stand and it'll be accurate. Sunderland06 (talk) 22:47, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- Seems I didn't read it properly, I guess its perfect then. Thanks a lot again. Sunderland06 (talk) 23:00, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Sub-categories of football competitions
Hi,
I really don't think it's necessary to include the various World Cup articles directly in Category:FIFA competitions as well as in the sub-categories. Articles should only be placed in the most specific categories they fit in. For that reason I think the additional cat should be removed from FIFA U-20 World Cup. Peanut has already removed it from FIFA World Cup. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 02:10, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Bradford City players
Hey PeeJay, the 'first team appearance' really refers to past players, not current squad members who have (yet) to make a league appearance...hope this helps! Cheers, GiantSnowman 19:19, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Cristiano Ronaldo
You need to keep a close eye. According to ESPN Soccernet, Cristiano Ronaldo might be headed to Real Madrid next summer. Besides last summer, have you heard any rumors of that? – Michael (talk) 22:53, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
UEFA Cup =
This is the only route that the teams in the Round of 32 can now follow, for example if Manchester City were to win their game against FC Copenhagen they would play the winner of the match between Aalborg and Deportivo and so on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.145.164.96 (talk) 17:38, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
Unknown United players known?
At MUFCInfo.com, I found a few first names for some of the unknown players.
- G. Felton seems to be named George Felton
- G. Foley is George Foley
- Rattigan is William Rattigan
- F. Sawyer is Thomas Sawyer (A F and a T might be confused and they both made their first appearance at the same match)
- J. Sneddon is John Sneddon
I know Stretford End doesn't have all this information, but could these players be some of the ones that are missing? Thanks! Patken4 (talk) 18:20, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- It's certainly quite likely that those names are correct, but I would be curious to find out where MUFCInfo.com got their info from. Not saying they're incorrect, but it would be prudent to check sources first. – PeeJay 18:23, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'll send an email to the editor of the site then. Thanks. Patken4 (talk) 18:24, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. No idea why I've replied on my own talk page though :-S Still, at least you saw the reply! :-) – PeeJay 18:27, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'll send an email to the editor of the site then. Thanks. Patken4 (talk) 18:24, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- I got a reply already! The site gets their information from books, programmes, their own knowledge, matches, other people. A variety of places. Thanks. Patken4 (talk) 19:38, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- See, the bits I'm worried about are the "their own knowledge" and "other people" bits. If this specific information can be attributed to books/match programmes/official media, then that's fair enough, but I wouldn't deem their own knowledge to be a reliable source. Can we get clarification about the sources for these specific names? – PeeJay 19:41, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Lassana Diarra
Dude, when Diarra completes his move to Real Madrid, how much will the fee be? – Michael (talk) 02:43, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- Since he's going to have 'Lass' on the back of his jersey, should I put that on the transfer list instead of Lassana Diarra? – Michael (talk) 14:06, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- I thought not, because if I actually put that on there, that would make me think I'm putting his girlfriends name on there. – Michael (talk) 14:22, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the Barnstar!
Thanks for the Barnstar Award! When I get a response about the five potentially known players, I'll let you know the answer. I guess the only other potential player at this point is perhaps the James Cairns. Thanks again! Patken4 (talk) 21:40, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Are they going to tell us when the transfer is confirmed? – Michael (talk) 00:01, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Would if they don't, should you have left the transfer on the list? – Michael (talk) 01:45, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Re: Blackpool F.C. season articles
Doesn't really bother me. I'd prefer to look for a season in a continuous list, rather than one that was interrupted by headings, but it's not a deal-breaker. Maybe AWB can perform the sorting change and remove the logo at the same time? - Dudesleeper / Talk 19:52, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- I suppose it does make more sense for it to be ordered numerically. I think you've got your work cut out if you're looking to bring all of the other club-season categories into line. - Dudesleeper / Talk 20:11, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Please stop for reverting. Please check the draw result after 2005–06. All matches, including Qualifying rounds and the knockout stages, are ordered by draw order. That could help for showing the methodology of the draw. Thanks. Raymond "Giggs" Ko 17:38, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Gary Neville
Hi! Left a message over at Talk:Gary Neville, maybe you could read and leave your thoughts. Can't be 100% sure if he got a medal or not, so might be wrong to add 2008 CL to his honours section, but maybe it could be equally wrong to leave it out. Few other players in the same boat as him. Seems like the sort of think we can't really ever find out for definite unfortunately. Derry Boi (talk) 16:45, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm ok with you reverting Dani Alves's page but I don't think it was a good idea to revert Ljungbergs page. – Michael (talk) 21:26, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Statistics in WC qual. UEFA gr. 1
Why did you remove my contribution to that article? I know it's "unnecessary", but its OK, I mean it doesn't bother or harm anyone or something like that, so why remove it? If its only "unnecessary" - well, I think every second article in Wikipedia is unnecessary, and we keep them. Hope for your soonest reply--Dark Ranger (talk) 08:22, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Jimmy Murphy (footballer)
I've expanded the Jimmy Murphy (footballer) article a bit and added his WBA playing stats. I've made a couple of corrections (his place of birth and when he joined Albion) so if these conflict with your sources please let me know and we can discuss and maybe footnote if necessary.
I noticed you changed his DoB from 27 October 1910 to 8 August 1910. My WBA-based sources have his DoB as 27 October 1910 though, so I was wondering where you got this info from? Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 15:42, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Tevez loan
I noticed you removed my cited loan, on the Tevez article, saying "it is not a loan. you cannot be on loan from a company". Please note that football clubs are companys, and while not on loan from West Ham he is on from Kia Joorabchian (MSI). You can be on loan from companys per all these reliable sources. [1][2][3] And more recently (this week) [4][5][6]. I think this is quite strong evidence that he is on loan.

Sorting and linking of dates
Hi PeeJay, I noticed that you relinked dates in the English football transfers articles, citing the fact that they need to be linked for the sorting to work. I understand your concern; I implemented dates that are sorted and unlinked into List of English football transfers winter 2008–09 using the {{dts}} template. Could I ask you to consider doing the same for List of English football transfers summer 2008? Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 16:01, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, sorry. I will investigate further before delinking those dates again. Sorry for the confusion. Dabomb87 (talk) 16:23, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
CL 2008 Edits
1. a lot of material was not relevant ot the match (and hence the article). 'reactions' was an open ended section that drifted off into things that had nothing to do with the match. this is an article on the 2008 final, not the whole 2008 CL, the city of moscow, or what arsene wenger, capello or joe bloggs said about the result. 2. the road to the final is given in the CL 07/08 article itself. extensively. 3. the intro needed tidying - how is the teams that play at the Luzniki stadium relevant to the match and the article?
i've explained most of the edits briefly, please use the talk page to discuss further.
Jw2035 (talk) 21:43, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- When writing an article, the writer should assume that the reader knows nothing of the subject. Obviously, in this case, this doesn't mean explaining what football is, what the Champions League is, etc., but it should require a short explanation of how the teams got to the final, a short piece about the match itself (as a concept) and its marketing/branding, and the aftermath with respect to the two teams. That is what we have at 2008 UEFA Champions League Final, and I think it's rather well done. It could do with a little trimming in the "Road to the final" section, but other than that, I believe you went a bit OVER THE TOP with your edits. – PeeJay 21:47, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- explanaton of how the teams got there is in the CL 07/08 article. the match summary is unaltered and ok. 'aftermath' is too open ended - you could have reactions from everyone and anyone; look at articles on european cup finals from 20 years ago - do they record the reactions of minor journos, managers who werent even there, etc.. no they don't. quotes from the managers present, players, etc. may have a place here, but it's scope should be strictly limited - what was there simply rambled! it is not necessary to explain what the champions league is, where the logo came from (that's not a new thing btw), who plays at the ground, what a coincidence everthign is, who roman abramovich is and where he comes from, etc...see my point! Jw2035 (talk) 21:53, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
besides, using the last 20 years worth of finals as a template, i could have justifiably pruned 2008, 2007, 2006 and 2005 down to along the lines of 2002, 2001, 2000 and so on. one paragraph, match summary and the teams is all that is really required Jw2035 (talk) 22:00, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
yes, 2007 was a featured article. and guess what? no 'reactions' or 'aftermath' ramble. route to the final is a paragraph and a table. sectioned match summary. no cruft about who plays where, 'coincidences' or what abramovich had for breakfast. read the article and then have a look at my edits - i've brought the 05 and 08 articles far closer to the format of the 07 article and removed an awful lot of unnecessary and irrelevant trivia. please do not revert again without using the talk page Jw2035 (talk) 13:51, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
look, i'm sure you've worked very had on these articles, adding fascinating lists of 'coincidences', 'reactions', 'quotes from wenger' 'what abramovich thinks' etc... but I'm working to the featured article 2007 which has none of this. this is not your pet page. either edit constructively or i'll just keep reverting Jw2035 (talk) 17:29, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
just because 2 other people also disagree doesnt make the article any less crappy with the above elements. the others have been willing to discuss the final articles - you have simply reverted, often without explanation. Jw2035 (talk) 17:41, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
ok, i'll remake the edits one by one, and you can object if you see fit Jw2035 (talk) 17:49, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
well, happily, wikipedia has a history page and i've even taken the trouble to number the edits. all are perfectly justifiable. you are simply protecting 'your article' now. either be civil, be constructive or find somethign else to work on Jw2035 (talk) 18:52, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'd like to request your input at an attempt to moderate this dispute. Oldelpaso (talk) 18:01, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Article 19, Protection of minors
1. International transfers of players are only permitted if the player is over the age of 18.
2. The following three exceptions to this rule apply:
a)...
b) The transfer takes place within the territory of the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) and the player is aged between 16 and 18. In this case, the new club must fulfi l the following minimum obligations:
i) It shall provide the player with an adequate football education and/or training in line with the highest national standards.
ii) It shall guarantee the player an academic and/or school and/or vocational education and/or training, in addition to his football education and/or training, which will allow the player to pursue a career other than football should he cease playing professional football.
iii) It shall make all necessary arrangements to ensure that the player is looked after in the best possible way (optimum living standards with a host family or in club accommodation, appointment of a mentor at the club, etc.).
iv) It shall, on registration of such a player, provide the relevant association with proof that it is complying with the aforementioned obligations;
c)...
In this case, Man United has provided all of the above by leaving him with his parents in his own country with his original club. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eddyji999 (talk • contribs) 23:50, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Without reading all the United sections again I can't be sure, but I don't think it has anything more. When I am king all non-fiction books will have indexes. I was a little surprised it has an article, but given its use as a rugby league ground combined with its use by United I don't object. The most likely book to have more information will be Simon Inglis' Played In Manchester. Premier League season articles
Hi PeeJay, I was wondering whether you had any ideas about how to cleanup the season articles for the Premier League because at the moment they seem to follow completely different standards. For example, some give season summaries for each of the teams (but in some cases, as for the review for Arsenal in 2002-03, they are much longer than all the others and Charlton do not even have a one line review). Some give statistics and others don't, the leads are of completely different lengths etc. I added the rest of the results for the 2002-03 article and feel this needs to be done for all the other articles. What are your ideas? Cheers. 03md (talk) 19:14, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi there,
I see you are quite active on the Man Utd page. I would like to point your attention to this discussion here. The stadiums/stadia argument
My OED is from 1974 but the English language's pluralisation techniques has not change in the past 34 years. Melinywig (talk) 20:32, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
If you can prove to me, by your OED, that stadium comes from latin and only latin then i shall concede to your "stadia" My 1974 OED and everyone i've asked agrees with me, some of them studying latin. i know people get confused about words from latin like some saying "a bacteria" when they mean "a bacterium" but i am not one of them. Melinywig (talk) 22:15, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Then My argument stands tall. Greek works adopted into Latin do not decline the same way in Latin as normal Latin words. The word is Greek and therefore the plural is stadiums. Melinywig (talk) 22:17, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Have you ever considered that the word isn't second declesion Latin? In fact if it is a borrowed word it is more likely to be a masculine word in the third declension and therefore will not decline stadium/-um/-i/-o/-i/-a/-a/-orum/-is/-is. (Yeah i know my Latin) Besides what you said is that the word is Greek so we have borrowed it from Greek and therefore it pluralises in the way we want it to, which is usually by adding an "s". Melinywig (talk) 22:27, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
But it isn't tradition to do pluralise that way. If the word is from Latin then and only then should it pluralise the way you think it does. The word is Greek and therefore does not pluralise like a Latin word. Melinywig (talk) 22:16, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

- Just to let you know, I was under the impression "stadium" was Latin and hence declines "stadia" in the plural. The Greek word is "stadion" which also declines "stadia" in the plural. Peanut4 (talk) 23:10, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey the OED from 1974 siad that sadiums is the correct plural. don't know when your's is from butt all of the english agree with my stadiums. i do not believ that the word stadium is derived form latin, if it is and you can prove it i shall concede. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Melinywig (talk • contribs) 22:10, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Hey, looking at the article, it looks like all of the points have been taken care of except for one I made about Cantona; the sentence: "From then on, it seemed to some that the match had ceased to be primarily a tribute to the Busby Babes and more about Cantona." - is a very bold assertion by an encyclopaedia. I think it needs to become "...was criticised by the press as ceasing being primarily a tribute to the Busby Babes, and more a testimonial to Cantona." This would need to be sourced, I'm going to assume that source 52 covers it. It's one of those which seems obvious to those of us who actually follow English football, but needs some external verification for WP:OR grounds. I also want to say thta I'm not looking at the article on prose grounds, as I consider that my weak point, so you may want to ask for some feedback on readability etc. from those experienced in the area of FAs. Also, you might want to look at this a few times over, as I've just come back from the pub. Best wishes, and I hope this makes FA! – Toon(talk) 01:45, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Differences between Manchester United F.C. season 1903–04 and 1903–04 in English football
PJ, as I was looking at this article, I notice there are a few small differences between Manchester United F.C. season 1903–04 and 1903–04 in English football. 1 is the colors. One grey, the other orange. 2. in the MUFC articles, it's Aresenal, in the English football it's Woolwich Arsenal, which do you prefer. Thanks, Calebrw (talk) 04:54, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Why are you making a big deal about sales inclusion? If you want to know why North American, PAL region, etc. sales are not included, maybe you should ask every single user who did not look for this information. You are not listening at all - there is no bias in including only Japanese information unless it serves to prevent other information from being included. If you want that information, you may find it. Information does not have to be neutral - why don't you remove the review table, since it only has English sources? - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 20:51, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- When there is ZERO sales information besides that, removing the only sales information is doing nothing but harming the article. It doesn't matter if it was the worst selling game of the year, it still is reception and should be listed. You fail to establish that at any point it would be inappropriate to include. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 02:18, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Single-match templates and layout

Regarding this revert - I've got to admit that I didn't know we had a prevailing style here, but is it documented anywhere? Much of that section looks like it should be combined into a template. Disruptive editor
Hi there PEEJAY, VASCO from Portugal here,
Just witnessed your "interactions" with User:Bruninho, which led to an exhaustive revert battle in Gerard Piqué's article. Well, let me tell you a little story about this "user" (contributions here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Bruninho):
His former user name is User:Bruno P.Dori, who had the following editing habits: 99,99999999999% percent of his "contributions" (seen here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Bruno_P._Dori) consist in players connected past or present with FC Barcelona. Also, he has the habit of overusing caps in infoboxes and enlarging them needlessly (Piqué is a good example, but others such as Sergio Busquets, a page which had to be protected due to his continuous disruptions (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sergi_Busquets&diff=260741413&oldid=260737132), Sergio García de la Fuente or Damià Abella, also formerly at BARCELONA, are also good options).
He writes no edit summaries, and does not respond to messages, as you very well know by now, and as Piqué is a shining example (i have had my share with him as well), if you revert something 5 times he will revert it 6, without any interactions whatsoever. Well, as i was saying, the account BRUNO P.DORI was finally blocked (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Bruno_P._Dori) and now he has this one, BRUNINHO. Charming, eh?
Another good tip may be this, which i already presented, without any success, at several reports pages (WP/ANI, WPFOOTY, etc): i have found over 40 different IP for this "user" so far, of which i now present to you the registered ones: (Sockpuppets - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Suspected_Wikipedia_sockpuppets_of_Bruno_P._Dori), some of those and new ones can be found at Antonio Longás and Albert Jorquera (see? BARCELONA players at some point), two articles that also had to be protected. Also in LONGÁS' article, he proves his disruption patterns: in "current club", he writes one thing, in last club in infobox, which is also current, he writes a different name, and if someone dares to revert it, he re-reverts it how many times necessary. This not to mention the enormous "CENTRAL MIDFIELDER / ATTACKING MIDFIELDER" in player position...
Make no mistake, this guy is not willing to work as a team and has endless ways to evade a block, he will not engage in any dialogue...Pityful.
Also regarding PIQUÉ's article, i saw that you removed the FC's in infobox, which led to my commenting (there, but also now) i do not understand (i have seen it in various articles) why is it a problem to display those two letters when they take up absolutely no space at all?
P.S. Incredible!!!! Visited now PIQUÉ's article, before clicking "save page" here, and BRUNINHO, anonymously, has already reverted your actions (the chart you keep removing and infobox with caps). See what i mean?
Keep up the good work mate, have a nice week,

1986 World Cup Final
Hi PeeJay - I've been attempting to write a merged 'England v Argetnina (1986)' article and I can't for the life of me work out why the line-up section won't go into two columns. I was trying to create a system whereby I could generate an 'edit conflict' so that I could compare the wikicode to see where I've gone wrong. Hence having to make a couple of minor changes (Match details > match detailsx) so I could generate the change. I couldn't work out what I did wrong anyway, so I'll post it with the format wrong and no doubt someone will fix it. --Pretty Green (talk) 12:30, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clean-up - hope you think the article is a good idea, it just struck me as strange that we should have two (fairly poorly written) articles on goals form one match, which had to repeat much of what was said in each other in order to sort out the context! --Pretty Green (talk) 13:03, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

How can something vital be of mid importance?
Hi, I have seen your remark on my talk. I think this will be a challenge for this particular project. In my opinion, this project aims at the whole of Wikipedia (i.e. no specific project); and within Wikipedia aims at improving the articles of utmost importance (top 100, 1000, or 10000). Hence, in my view, compared to normal standard in Wikipedia, this project tags only articles that are of High (or even more) importance to Wikipedia as a whole.
I agree this is a tricky position, but I stand by it. I would not mind if in this difficult light, the importance label was not used in this specific project (as it is not in many other project). Arnoutf (talk) 22:44, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Gerard Piqué
Hi there PEEJAY, VASCO here,
In the article mentioned in title, i am sorry if i occurred, inadvertently, in an edit war. It was me who did last edits, anonymously (sometimes i don't log in, just enter WIKI and "edit away"), and hope this is only a misunderdstanding.
In my view, a "winning goal" is a/the goal that is decisive in that given moment, and PIQUÉ's was not (it was, as i wrote in edit summary, the 3-0). Or in that case, as Barça scored 3, then all of them were winners, not just his.
Since i respect your work, i will not revert it anymore (except for the wikilinks i provided and were removed when you, possibly, clicked "undo"), rest assured i am no vandal like BRUNINHO, with his endless IP addresses.
Take care, have a nice week, from PORTUGAL,

Munich Air Disaster
Why have you removed info from the article as to the primary cause of the accident. The info was referenced from a respected author in the field of aviation crashes, unlike the whole of the section on the investigation into the crash! Mjroots (talk) 20:52, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, but the Investigation section doesn't say how the accident was caused. Say you're driving through slush at 10mph. You will encounter a certain amount of drag. Go twice as fast in slush, and you get four times the drag; go three times as fast and there's nine times the drag; four times as fast and there's sixteen times the drag. This is why G-ALZU was unable to get airborne, the drag from the slush was greater than the thrust the engines were providing. Mjroots (talk) 21:09, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- OK, will let you sort it out. You can get the ref by using the history feature. Mjroots (talk) 21:17, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Disruptive editor
Hi there PEEJAY, VASCO here,
I bring to you a highly disruptive editor, anonymous IP 92.4.253.48 ("contributions" here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/92.4.253.48). I checked, out of sheer hazard Bruno Alves' article and, there it was: POV/WEASEL, but the most important, this person inserts info that is not true, at all. For instance, it says there that he bought the club Varzim Sport Club alongside his brother and bought João Vieira Pinto (38 years old) out of retirement. By the way, if you check ALVES brother's article, Geraldo Alves, you will see that my anonymous IP removed a lot of info, which was full of the three things i duly acuse him of (POV/WEASEL/LIES), you will see it says ("said") in "PERSONAL LIFE" that he is married to actress Lúcia Moniz and they have two sons, one named BRUNO to honour his brother. What a load of rubbish!! I checked several sites on this singer/actress, and it is not true.
Also, and in another striking pattern of this person's obsession, he also inserted that former players João Pinto (already mentioned in this message, above) and Ricardo Sá Pinto (both retired) now play for Varzim (also mentioned above)...LIE!!! I mentioned pattern because the ALVES brothers were born in that city (Póvoa de Varzim) and began playing football at that club. He also operates with many, many IP, and also gave me a hard time with Arnaldo Edi Lopes da Silva and Juanfran (both AEK players, as GERALDO ALVES, more patterns).
I hope something can be done, cheers and keep up the good work,

Request
Hi there PEEJAY, VASCO here,
sorry for keeping bothering you, but here is a request (i would not if i knew how to handle things myself, i like teamwork and, besides, i think i already told you i don't have whole of a lot of luck in my reports to WP/ANI, they are pretty much ignored or scolded, even after i registered):
Could you please (or if you don't want or don't have that ability please tip someone or tell me how to do it), block some more of BRUNO P.DORI aka BRUNINHO lots of other anonymous IP that have surfaced? He keeps engaging in infobox wars (nearly, if not, 100% of his editing space) and writing no summaries or messages. Most of those new IP can be found at Albert Jorquera, Antonio Longás, Sergio Busquets and, as you already had the painful experience of knowing, Gerard Piqué.
Also, could you add those new addresses to the list of sockpuppets? Last time i checked it contained 26 and, almost 1 month after, still 26, when he has nearly 40 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Suspected_Wikipedia_sockpuppets_of_Bruno_P._Dori)
Thank you very much in advance, and please note again i am only asking this favour because i do not know how to proceed with those things myself,
VASCO AMARAL, PORTUGAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 01:04, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry indeed, i guess i really did bother you with my request. I guess you could at least have told me how to deal with it myself (i.e. add the anonymous IP to the sockpuppet list), but i guess the lack of feedback means i am being a nuisance, when all i really want is to stop that idiot vandal in its tracks, and i guess he has given you enough proof of how he can be in PIQUÉ's article (by the way, if i sometimes seemed a bit rude and "not-compelling" in my edit summaries in there, i apologize) but, if i am not getting any teamwork here (and it has happened with other folks too, don't know what i doing wrong - am i writing in poor English, am i being unpolite?), i'll leave that vandal (BRUNINHO, BRUNO P.DORI and approximately 50 IP) be, he is sick and the head and does not deserve any attention, the only thing he does merit is having his IPs blocked on sight, one after one, until he quits, but...I guess living in Brazil does have its wiki-advantages.
Sorry for the incovenience(s), i will not bother you anymore, cheers from PORTUGAL,

- Ah man, just noticed this now in your latest message to me: you mentioned "This guy clearly has an inexhaustible supply of IP addresses to call on, so blocking them as they crop up seems to be the only option". That's exactly what i meant mate, block the vandal ON SIGHT (if he has 50IP we'll block 'em all), just asked for your assistance because i don't know what needs to be done in that direction, i also don't know if the pattern of blocking someone i suggested is "wiki-legal".

This may be the convention on the FA website, but this is not the standard convention for other types of competition which contain qualifying rounds on Wikipedia. see World Snooker Championship 2008 also the word proper is not necessary in this context as it ads nothing to the explanation please see other national football competitions for the way this dealt with.--Lucy-marie (talk) 00:35, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Please also see The UEFA Cup as this does not use the word proper for any stages for any season.--Lucy-marie (talk) 00:40, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
This is not the FA and standardisation among articles on Wikipedia under the same subject matter: in this case national association football competitions should be achieved, otherwise confusions results when trying to compare different competitions. The word proper adds confusion as it may not be fully understood as to what is meant by the term.--Lucy-marie (talk) 00:44, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- Adding the word "Proper" differentiates the First Round Proper from the First Round Qualifying. How is that hard to understand? – PeeJay 00:48, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Because it is unnecessary as the qualifying rounds identify themselves with the word qualifying, simply having first round after the qualifying rounds have been completed creates no confusion, whereas what does the word proper actually mean, is there an improper first round that also occurs? Also it is not in line with other association football articles on knock out competitions please see UEFA CUP as an example.--Lucy-marie (talk) 00:52, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
- Each competition season article uses the round-naming scheme as defined by the competition organisers, e.g. the FA for the FA Cup or UEFA for the Champions League. Furthermore, every FA Cup article uses the same round-naming scheme, so by changing the 2008-09 FA Cup article, you are creating inconsistencies yourself. – PeeJay 01:00, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
I am more than willing to correct the lot. I have also not ever heard the widespread print media such as the News of the World using proper when reporting on the FA cup this appears to be isolated to just the FA website and nowhere else on the planet.--Lucy-marie (talk) 01:04, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

I wonder if reporting someone for violation of the 3 revert rule will stop them from continuing to edit an article. Let's see shall we? I count six times you reverted the article back to the incorrect information. - Matty4123 (T•C•A) 16:45, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

(NEW)Football vandal
Hi there PEEJAY, VASCO here,
Being this a football "user" and you a member of "the force": Check out this new contributor, JESSEMON111 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Jessemon111), he logged in today. Incredibly, while most vandals seem to almost exclusively edit anonymously, this idiot (don't fret, i know where i'm heading) went through the trouble of registering to write foul language, lies, the whole ordeal.
Here's an example (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Salvador_Ballesta&diff=prev&oldid=269917615), hope he can be put offside. By the way, that BRUNINHO and his endless IP show no signs of slowing down, i have received advice that sometimes, it's better to just stay put a little bit, ignore the vandal, let them bore themselves out, and then arrange what's to be arranged.
Cheers, VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 02:10, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
February 2009
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Gerard Piqué. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Kevin (talk) 23:45, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
I should be most interested to know why you should not also be blocked. Obviously you know about the 3RR rule given your report at WP:AN3. Kevin (talk) 23:47, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Request reason:
My reverts were to correct a misguided editor who was creating a grammatical error; I do not see how that constitutes breaking the 3RR.
Decline reason:
You were edit warring over the case of a single letter. Are you trying to qualify for the list of lame edit wars? You obviously knew it was improper edit warring, since you warned the other party not to do it -- but didn't stop yourself? Take Kevin's advice. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 00:39, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
(ec)Your block log tells me you know all about edit warring, and your replies regarding what you consider obvious vandalism tell me that 24 hours to read through what constitutes vandalism at WP:3RR will do you a world of good. Kevin (talk) 00:00, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Well I think it would cause confusion if someone is listed as a winner of a national title without playing for a national team. I would think being part of a World Cup squad or a Copa America or Euro even if you don't play somehow should show up in a players infobox, just because there are probably a few examples of players (especially in bigger footballing countries) who never get capped but still is part of a World Cup squad, perhaps even winning it. — CHANDLER#10 — 22:38, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
- Héctor Zelada[9], Ricardo Lavolpe[10], Rubén Pagnanini[11], Eduardo Roberto Stinghen[12]. That's a little list of possible uncapped World Cup winners while looking through the 70 to 94 winners... Surely it would be less confusing to leave their infoboxes as they are? — CHANDLER#10 — 23:10, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Sympathy
Hi there PEEJAY, VASCO here,
I just heard the sad news that you received a minor block, regarding the edit war on Gerard Piqué. I understood the point of view of the person who blocked (KEVIN), stating that it takes two to edit-war and you were as much a culprit as the vandal (by the way, i already "info'ed" Kevin about the dirty deeds of BRUNINHO aka whatever).
I said i understood the blocker's reasoning, but i also think a person who engages in on-sight revertings, as much as needed, without answering to a single message or writing one edit summary whatsoever, so i am on your side in this issue, hope it turns out well for you mate, not for the vandal. Kevin also said he thinks edit wars over one single word (Centre back, Centre Back) are not worth it, i also understand the logic, but take a look at this example in which the vandal does not limit his infobox enlargements to "just one word": (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Oscar_L%C3%B3pez_Hern%C3%A1ndez&diff=269404297&oldid=268728923); sometimes it seems as if it's done on purpose...
By the way, his anon IP account is reaching obscene levels (i also tipped KEVIN about this), and i don't know if this any end in sight...(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Suspected_Wikipedia_sockpuppets_of_Bruno_P._Dori)
Cheers, keep up the good work, keep (as i) fighting vandals (especially mute ones),

Hi
I think TBC should be included for the qualifying rounds in case viewers might wonder where there are blanks. When i saw the blanks yesterday, I thought that someone forgotten to fill in, so I went to check for the attendance so that I can fill it in. I found out that it was yet to be counted. So to prevent ppl from wondering and to save people time from trying to find out the attendance, I think TBC should be included. Syjytg (talk) 15:15, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Flags
You know, I'm pretty certain that the flags-in-infoboxes thing only relates to not having it where people are born and/or died. I've read WP:MOSFLAG, and nowhere does it state that flags cannot be used to designate sporting nationality. Otherwise, why would the {{fb}} tag - which I believe was actually made by WP:FOOTY to make linking to national team articles easier - have a flag in the syntax? --JonBroxton (talk) 22:43, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- (Thanks for editing - I completely screwed up the linkage there!) --JonBroxton (talk) 22:46, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- Right - I remember that conversation too - but I'm 99.999% certain that the discussion only related to having flags next to, say, the country where players are born, or next to the name of the domestic club. In that circumstance, I absolutely agree - it messes with row alignment and looks awful. However, for national teams, I don't think it applies. WP:MOSFLAG clearly states that flags should not be used to designate places of birth/death - and I fully agree. However, the fact that the{{fb}} tag actively includes a flag in the syntax doesn't go against the flags guidelines; the only reason I was putting one on Terry Cooke's page is because there is no {{fb}} tag for England U21's, so I added the flag manually to be consistent. --JonBroxton (talk) 22:53, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Velpremus (talk) 00:09, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi PeeJay - I have looked at the sources quoted above which do confirm the date of birth as 1921. User:Velpremus has already emailed www.englandfootballonline.com with his evidence and they have changed their website to give the Date of birth as 14-Sept-1921 (see [14]). Michael Joyce (www.allfootballers.com and "Football League Players' Records 1888-1939") also gives the date of birth as 14/09/1921, so I'm coming round to the opinion that all the other sources have got it wrong - they do tend to copy each other, especially if there was an error in the original registration papers. When I have time over the weekend, I will e-mail Michael Joyce and ask him for his sources. I may even apply for a copy of the birth certificate, although that will cost me £7, but if Wikipedia is to have any integrity, these details must be correct. Cheers. 2010 FIFA World Cup
Why did you undo my edits to 2010 FIFA World Cup? I converted the match schedule to footballboxes so it would be easier to input results. Plus there were some inaccuracies in the schedule that I fixed; you reverted them to the inaccurate version. Agmonaco (talk) 15:00, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
I saw your earlier revisions deleting footballboxes. I don't think the article gets too big with footballboxes. It goes from 37k to 40k. Also, there are no separate group pages where footballboxes would be more appropriate. Without them, you lose important info: the time of day for matches and match number. I think you should reinstate the footballboxes. Agmonaco (talk) 15:07, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Your revert
Hello, why did you revert this edit? Why do you feel that Russia shares the third place with Turkey? Aquarel (talk) 20:19, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Is Old Trafford one of two UEFA-rated five-star stadia in England? I reverted an edit to the Manchester article (which is on the main page at the moment) stating as much because it was unsourced. I searched for a reference of the Old Trafford article, and while it says Wembley is also five-star, I couldn't find a source explicitly stating OT and Wembley were the only two. Could you help? Nev1 (talk) 21:57, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- Aha, right. I couldn't find any, but I've not worked on football articles so don't know where to look for reliable sources. I reckon adding a reference for Wembley getting five-star status would be good enough to prove the point that OT isn't the only one any more. Nev1 (talk) 00:50, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Just beat United 3–1 (it was 3–0 by half time) in the Premier League with Blackpool, and I only had one player outside the current real-life squad. Not sure how you explain that one. - Dudesleeper / Talk 21:52, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- I'm playing on the "amateur" setting. I lost 3–0 to Wigan in the next game, so there appears to be no rhyme or reason. I have noticed, however, that when the computer team wants to score, nothing short of a machete is going to stop that player making it into the box and taking a shot. I forgot to mention that the one player I have acquired, I didn't actually buy. I brought him in on loan, but he's decided to stay of his own accord. I didn't make any offer for him, but he's become a permanent signing somehow. - Dudesleeper / Talk 00:46, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Why did you move this article to 4 Associations' Tournament? It is typical to provide a reason for any page move. INFOBOXES
Hi there PJ, VASCO here,
I am sorry for the edit conflict in Gerard Piqué; it's just it was the first time i saw an infobox so needlessly (in my modest point of view) elaborate that i "panicked" and reverted. After, i saw the same pattern in Sergio Busquets and opted to "stay put", only working in storyline.
Yet, could you please tell me why some infoboxes are the way they are (nationalteams1, nationalteams2, etc, etc)? I already sent a message explaining/inquiring/apologizing to User:Commander Shepard (seen here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Commander_Shepard#INFOBOXES), which i think, at least by consulting Piqué's edit history, was the original provider of new infoboxes.
Best wishes, Vasco, Portugal - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 00:22, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- PeeJay, Vasco here. Could you PLEASE tell me about the new infoboxes (what are the main differences between one type of boxes and the other, and in what cases are they applied? Thank you again.

Speedy deletion
I notice that you tagged the page File:2000 UCL Final.PNG for speedy deletion with the reason "this image is now redundant". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because per WP:CSD#I1, redundant images can only be deleted if they are in the same file format. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, or using the WP:FFD process. Thanks! Thankyou for bringing that part of Wikipedias rules to my attention. Although I don't agree with it entirely, as flags make it look so much more structured and uncluttered. William / Billy / Lot Jones
You recently moved Billy Lot Jones to Lot Jones using common name conventions as your rationale. While several variations on his name seem to be used in various places, if my books are anything to go by Billy Lot Jones seems the most common. Oldelpaso (talk) 14:31, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah it is definitely a nickname, no doubt caused by playing for Wales sides in which he was neither the only Jones or only Billy. Books which use Billy Lot Jones include Manchester City the Complete Record (and several other books on City by the same author) and the Billy Meredith biography. The Manchester City Story uses Lot Jones and The Maine Road Encyclopedia goes with Willy Lot Jones. I guess now I've dug them all out I ought to expand the article... Oldelpaso (talk) 14:55, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- At the moment I favour Billy Lot Jones, but I'll wait until I finish expanding the article in case any additional information comes to light. Oldelpaso (talk) 16:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps he was known as Lot in Wales and Billy Lot in Manchester, but that's speculation on my part. As both get used I guess the choice isn't that important. Oldelpaso (talk) 09:25, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

List of Welsh rugby union players
Took me an hour or two; cut and paste job and a bit of formatiing between Excel and Word. I'm hoping it will eventually look like the list you began, my only concern is the cap information. We are so short of Wikipeadians on WikiProject rugby, without having people to update the caps issue for present players. The list needs formatting and the ability to sort. I would have split the groups up like the Irish list, but then you can't sort all the players.
What help are you looking for?
- OK, I've added a column with surnames first, so we can sort the players like your original table, plus I've added DoB and DoD. I've added caps (but will probably only add to those players who have retired from international rugby). Plus I've added the scoring types, as points can't be correlated between the eras. I'll populate as I go along. FruitMonkey (talk) 18:07, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Deletion of FA Cup Final 1990 Replay entry re last all-English line-up
I would like to discuss your removal of a fact from the 1990 FA Cup Final entry (i.e. that the line-up of the Crystal Palace team in the 1990 Replay was the last all-English line-up in an FA Cup Final). You say it is of no importance and say that for many years other British nationalities have been in Final team line-ups. I would say it is important as it would be surprising to many people that the last all-English line-up occurred as recently as 1990 (and not 1975 with West Ham as many people suppose). Moreover, it is the English FA Cup and it is therefore in my view perfectly legitimate to point out the last occasion when an all-English line up was fielded. I would respectfully suggest that you undermine your own argument in favour of deletion by saying that many Scots, Irish and Welsh were in teams over the years. Surely the fact that an all-English line- up was playing as late as the 1990s makes it notable and thus of at least some importance. You also undermine your argument by saying that teams reaching the FA Cup Final "rarely" fielded all-English sides (surely all-English sides were commonplace since the inception of the competition in 1872 and for several decades thereafter) Moreover, in the 1975 FA Cup Final entry, it is mentioned that West Ham were the last all-English club to win the FA Cup - if you feel that such facts are unimportant, why have you not deleted this from the 1975 page? If you do not remove the 1975 fact, then your logic for deleting the 1990 fact is highly flawed and contradictory. If you do not remove the 1975 fact, then there is no reason why the 1990 fact should be removed.
I disagree with your deletion for the reasons given. However I appreciate you giving your reasons as opposed to an unexplained deletion, even if they are, in my view, flawed and the original 1990 fact should be restored at the earliest opportunity. Thank you. Dave205 (talk) 02:08, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Let's see if i can translate BRUNO's answer in a "qualified" manner: He said he does not do it intentionally, he only changes it whenever PIQUÉ plays with BARCELONA. It just happens to be he has everything filed in his computer, makes changes there, and then copy/pastes to WIKIPEDIA. He says that, due to your doubts/complaints, he will now copy your changes to his computer archives, then proceed from there, ending all problems.
My mate PJ, as i told BRUNINHO previously, not taking anyone's side, i merely translated both person's request and pitched in as intermediary. I hope this matter can be solved.

A little help for rv
Hi,
I noticed you're quite involved in soccer-related article so I'm asking you for a little help. After a recent change patrol, I have been watching the contributions by 90.200.3.230 (talk) for some days and most them are deletion of information and vandalism of soccer-related pages. I reverted many of his edits and warned him again today. I hope this will make it stop vandalizing. But don't worry about this, i will keep a close watch on him.
However, I have some troubles asserting if some of his edits are good contributions or vandalism. I can't access sport-related website so i can't check date changes such as [17] or [18]. Moreover there are some things i'm not sure about like this one [19] (it seems Piqué had a contract with M.U on the date of the final, but he doesn't appear in 2008_UEFA_Champions_League_Final). In theses cases I did nothing.
So it would be very nice of you if you could check theses cases and other contributions by this IP that I didn't revert so that we can be sure no hidden vandalism stay on theses articles.
Thanks in advance, Best regards, Ksempac (talk) 14:33, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Champions League Final
Really? I thought it was the home team which got first choice and I doubt that Barcelona would not want to wear their classic home kit (they could technically choose to wear their away shirts - Milan did this a few years ago against Liverpool).
I was just looking at a picture from Middlesbrough game from two weeks ago. The socks are basically all white. [20] I don't see any blue on them, like how the socks are shown on the United article. --Tocino 21:39, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- We could wait for confirmation from ManUtd.com, but I think that there's less than 1% chance that Barcelona will choose to wear their away kits, so IMO it's pretty safe to put the kits back on the article now. Although we may want to change United's socks to plain white. --Tocino 21:54, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

List of Football League Trophy winners
Hi mate, I am currently working on the List of Football League Trophy winners article. Are the finals of this competition notable enough to have individual articles (thus I need to put links in the winners list to 2009 Football League Trophy final, which will appear as redlinks) or should it link to the individual season (e.g. Football League Trophy 2008-09 ). Thanks. 03md 15:35, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Dates
Hey look. Stop reverting me. Have a little common sense and common courtesy. There is no logical reason for the date to be changed. Both are valid date formats. Are you really suggesting that people can't understand one version over the other? The article was originally formatted that way as have previous years. It is customary to continue in the way that the article has been formatted with the most major additions/edits etc. As the date format has not been a problem until now, I can see no valid reason to changing it. I am going to restore it to the original style. And I suggest that if you have a problem with that, then you discuss it, rather than revert. Nouse4aname (talk) 09:39, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hey man. I see your point. Sorry for arguing over this, I'm rather highly strung at the moment... No excuse though. Anyway, cheers for the link. Have a good day! Nouse4aname (talk)
- Would you mind going through previous seasons as well, as that's where the date format stemmed from really, from me just copying and pasting the results tables. Nouse4aname (talk) 09:45, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Manchester United F.C.
Hi there, enjoying your success? Anyway seeing as you are a registered user could you possibly add something to the top of Manchester United's wikipage? Something in the region of they have won a joint record 18 league titles and are arguably the most successful team in English football history. Thanks. P.S: If united win the treble again could you possibly do something silimar to 1999 and put a chapter called Manchester United 2008-2009: The Second Treble. Cheers. --80.195.21.194 (talk) 21:20, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Quadriple?
first of all when you won the world club cup in 1999 along with a 18 point win in the title race in the same season, did you or any other united fan label that as a double win? No. Is that stastistic labeled as a double win in the history of english football books? No. Will 90% for Man U fans label the world club cup as part of a quadriple win? Porbably not for some of the Man United fans I know because they only played 2 matches. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.195.21.194 (talk) 00:07, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Response to 'quadriple'
Because the press are not really intellegent. In the league cup you can play up to 6 to 7 games to win as does the F.A Cup, Champions League 13 games plus if you pre-qualify. Premier League obviously 38 games, World Club Cup used to be 1 game now 2 games if you are from europe as Man u are. Some United fans (usually the glory-hunting fans who don't live in Manchester or Salford and know nothing about football) will count as a quadriple but the real fans who live in Manchester & salford and parts of lancashire will not count the world club cup as part of a quadrible because it is worldwide tournament and not part of UEFA football tournaments as well as it not being neccessary hard work playing a maximum 2 matches. If you have a look at the article on the quadrible it mainly would constist of the domestic league, the 2 domestic cups and the Champions League. --80.195.21.194 (talk) 00:21, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
what are you with the media or something pal? because your last statement sounded like i ain't supposed to have an opinion on the media. well i do I think reffering to a tournament which only lasts 2 matches as part of a quadrible is not very good considering and also like I said if you have a look at the wikipedia page the quadrible it doesn't say nothing about the world club cup being neccessary part of a quadrible. anyway as a united fan yourself does it surprise me that you now count the world club cup as part of a quadrible, now that you are going to win the Premier League and very possibly the European Cup when 10 years ago United didn't count the world club cup as part of a double? Of course not. --80.195.21.194 (talk) 00:33, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
how come it's played in tokyo then first of all? the same venue that United played in 1999 when they beat cornthians and as far as I know the intercontencal cup changed to world club cup because it is played in the same month as the previous tournament all except it has been expanded to include 6 teams now. Oh and do me a favour, I can't spell quadruple (up until then) don't criticise other people's writing pal. not everyone is perfect.--80.195.21.194 (talk) 00:44, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh tell a lie you're right it's being moved from Tokyo next year to Dubai so they won the inconternal cup in 1999 but I am still sure that both trophies are joined up to make the World Club Cup because in the Interconternal Cup does not exist anymore and World Club Cup did not happen for 5 years from 2000 onwards. So hence why did United not count that as a double in their record books or the media infact? 80.195.21.194 (talk) 00:50, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
yes o.k i understand that. But still how can you say that World Club Cup is part of a quadruple and that the Intercontentical Cup was not part of a double in record books, media coverage etc.... etc..... --80.195.21.194 (talk) 00:58, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
media coverage
a bit hypercritical though isn't it? because United are about to break every record in English football history they like to include it as a quadruple. but yet because they oupted out of the f.a cup, got humalited by villa and real madrid in the league cup & european cup respectively the press thought 'well it's only a double isn't it why bother counting it'. anyway wikipedia seems to agree under the title 'the quadruple' that mainly it includes the European cup along with the three domestic trophies. 80.195.21.194 (talk) 01:10, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

2009 British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa
Hi Peejay. Agreed, there hopefully wont be more injuries before the 1st match and 3 paragraphs could capture it. However, personally i think a list is more attractive and the long paragraphs ugly. Its in the eye of the beholder. I was following the style of the 2005 article with bullet points which I think is easy to read as each of the news items are standalone. Re: difference of opinion on Ray Gravell edits
I was under the impression that the contents of the interview would be of biographical interest to people reading the article, especially with regard to his career and background. I'm new to Wikipedia, so by all means please point out where I may be infringing a guideline, but I don't think the word "immaterial" can be fairly applied. The interviewer is David Parry-Jones, the author of "The Rugby Clubs of Wales" (Ref. 1), and the interview corroborates several of the biographical details in the article.
Redshoesproductions (talk) 10:12, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads-up, I'll be more than happy to make a few factual additions to the article. As far as self-promotion goes; in the spirit of disclosure: the interview was conducted by David Parry-Jones on behalf of the Wales Video Gallery before my company was in any way involved in the charity. I immediately saw the potential of Wikipedia to make this information freely available to any and all interested parties. As far as I was aware, the interview was as material as, for example, the photo at sporting heroes and didn't require any textual content to be inserted to the article to justify making it available. I didn't think there would be anything unethical about linking to it, as I was simply providing free access to the material in line with the Deed of Trust of the charity.
Redshoesproductions (talk) 13:28, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that. In future, I'm going to follow Shudde's suggestion and mention the link in the article's talk page, leave it to someone uninvolved to add to the article.

Irish Flag
You contradict yourself by saying that Ireland partake in the Heineken cup and that Ireland have won it four times with 2 runers up. What you are arguing is that Ireland never won it, rather, the IRFU did and in that case Ireland should be replaced with IRFU. Since the IRFU is an Irish organisation and all the players are contracted to it, they therefore play under the Irish Flag, Irish rugby is not governed by politics! I suggest you agree to stop reverting edits or remove all the international flags from the clubs since they all host international players. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rickibal (talk • contribs) 13:45, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't know how you think you can argue this since you are not Irish. You reverted another edit I made to Trevor Brennan in the Stade Toulousain article. Not contracted by the IRFU, he was an Irish International and therefore is Irish and should have an Irish Flag beside his name. The IRFU is not an international body, it is Irish. The Ulster players, when they play for Ireland, they do not play under the Union Jack or under the IRFU flag, they play under the Irish flag. If you have ever been to an international, the flags in the stadium are the national flags not the flags of the rugby body. Similarly, the Ulster players with British citizenship have a choice to play for England or Ireland, there is not one british player in the lineup. Also, when Ulster win anything, the Heineken Cup for example, that win is not designated British, its not designated Northern Irish, nor is it designated from multiple nationalities, it is designated Irish. I really don't see how you can stand by your argument. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rickibal (talk • contribs) 14:07, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Re the leinster team not having the Irish flag: Granted your argument has its merits but surely the point is not what union the team plays under but rather what country the team is from? 17:39, 28 May 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eleutherius (talk • contribs)
Not a TV guide on 2009 FA Cup Final
Just checking my understanding here. Putting aside the lack of citation, are you saying that this info can be added back in retrospectively, i.e. after the match? I'd have thought that broadcast details (written as prose rather than a list) are relevant to a sporting event article, but I agree that these should not appear in advance of the event. --Jameboy (talk) 13:10, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Manchester United F.C. Season 2009-10
Hi Tom. Can I ask why you reverted my edits to Manchester United F.C. season 2009-10? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jhantor (talk • contribs) 05:34, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. Going by that reasoning, the whole article is then incorrect as United has not entered into a 2009-10 season yet. Anyway, this doesn't bother me as it will be added in due course. However, may I suggest that kick-off times be added to United's season's articles from now on? (and any previous seasons where times are available) Besides, there are plenty of other details from older season's that do not appear because they cannot be sourced. Cheers. We need to ensure that it's notable enough for a page of its own, I can link to it from History of Ipswich Town F.C., ITFC stats and records (boo), Ipswich Town F.C. itself, and probably other related articles to ensure it's not orphaned... The Rambling Man (talk) 18:28, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- Initial thoughts: (1) no need for the date in the title, it's only happened once...(so far...!) (2) Craig Forrest played MUFC a few seasons later as a Hammer (I think) and got hammered 7-1 (if memory serves) so he conceded 16 goals in two games at Old Trafford, worth inclusion? - Also, a link to our supporters' sense of humour. MUFC fans: "We want ten!", ITFC fans: "We want one!"... The Rambling Man (talk) 18:46, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Hope you don't mind me intruding. I'm an ITFC fan who either believes all publicity is good publicity, or that thinking that way is a good way of coping. I found a match report from the time, with lovely stats like the table positions after the match, some goal times, it was their "biggest League win in 97 years." It even has a video of all 9 goals (I think the 8th is dubious). MSN lists it as one of "sport's most baffling blunders". Additionally this has all the goal and substitution times, but isn't exactly a reliable source. Hope all this helps, Rambo's Revenge (talk) 21:00, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Battle of Old Trafford
Hey, I was wondering if you think we should have separate articles for the 2003 and 2004 "Battle of Old Trafford" fixtures. I added this to the Bloomfield Road article yesterday. Not sure if you want to include it in Man United's early history, or if it has been recorded in your references:

According to the reference, South Shore "upset all the odds by winning 3-1, and that after having turned down a tempting offer to play the game in Manchester." - Dudesleeper / Talk 01:38, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Corry Evans
as he made his NI debut tonight I started a discussion here as to whether he is notable or not, it seem they think he is so if you have a page set up for him as you did Tom Cleverley, you may want to move it to the main space. Jimmy Skitz's Answer Machine 20:30, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Line-up images.
Hi Tom, Could you please explain to me how you create the line-up images in Inkscape. I have tried importing the empty pitch image from WP into the program but got stuck after that. Also, could you please respond to my previous comment on the Battle of Old Trafford. 03md 20:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick response. My query was really how to modify the image - I was not sure which features I needed to use in Inkscape, as clicking on text-box doesn't seem to work.
What names should I give to the two "Battle of Old Trafford" articles?03md 20:43, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- I saved a copy of File:Empty soccer line-up.svg into my files and imported it into Inkscape but was unsure about how to modify it. 03md 21:27, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- I have been successful with changing the colours of the kits and pitch but could you explain to me how you move the individual players around into the correct formation, and also how you delete the generic "defender", "midfielder" etc. text. 03md 09:38, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Breaklines and undo-ing
stop editing every footballers page and putting < break lines after every positionm its never been done like that and your dumb way isnt going to change wikipedia. Also stop undoing peoples edits you dont own wikipedia and you dont have to take away someones work of editing, so grow up and stop ur useless poor break lines which again is very annoying and looks untidy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jto29 (talk • contribs) 14:21, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Craig Joubert
A tag has been placed on Craig Joubert requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hi, Peej. The infobox image has once again been reverted. Several months ago, the picture was first created and posted, and then removed after a consensus was reached on the talk page that it wasn't entirely infobox-quality. Here's the link to the archive; just click on "New Photograph."

Finals of the 2009 UEFA CL
Would you care to explain why you deleted the piece on the Champion's league final? Weasel words? Examples? And Points of view? Are you sure? Being a supporter of neither, I thought I did a rather unbiased article. And why is a sports report not supposed to sound like a sports report? Would appreciate your ideas on it. Also, do you really supppose what is there currently is better than what I put up? Godof86 (talk) 06:28, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Finals of the 2009 UEFA CL
I find your reasoning sound, PeeJay, and your action unfortunately far from that. The article in the current state, gives no information at all, and is in fact less than a stub. Rather than deleting the addition I made, you should have suggested me to change it to suit the rest of the article. Also, the reason you suggested for deleting my addition was the presence of POV, and of weasel words, and thereby the previous mail. Also, while the structure can (and will) change, I would like to know how a description of a football match would not be a minute-by-minute description (of course unless it is a stub). Full protection at Gerard Piqué
Hello PeeJay2K3. You are one of the editors who was working on this article just before it was protected. Your own set of reverts put you deep into edit warring territory. I was dismayed by the lack of explanation given for anyone's edits. If the dispute restarts after protection lapses, those editors who have no recent posts on the article's talk page will get extra scrutiny from admins. Further revert warring will not be handled sympathetically, and it may not take four reverts before action is taken. If an issue is important enough to justify a revert, it is surely worth your taking the time to explain it on the talk page. EdJohnston (talk) 16:49, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Barcelona/FC Barcelona
I see you're running into the same issue witb Bruninho on Gerard Pique's article as I did on Albert Celades's article. It's always the same with him - he ignores WP:FOOTY consensus with team link piping by having the "FC" in place, reverts any changes instantly without explanation, fails to enter into any conversation... he has probably the worst case of WP:OWN I have ever come across on here. I feel your pain. --JonBroxton (talk) 17:42, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- I honestly don't know what we can do. Yes, he is a regular contributor, but I do often wonder why he doesn't just stick to working on the Portuguese WP - an exuse I often hear for his lack of dialog is that he doesn't write or speak English... in which case, why is he editing an encyclopedia in a language he doesn't speak? I don't edit the Finnish WP, or the Hungarian WP, for that very same reason. Also, if the language barrier makes him incapable of understanding consensus, how is he ever going to edit properly? This is a case in point... a consensus was reached with link piping on teams, which he either ignores (which makes him a bad editor), or he doesn't understand (which makes him a good editor on the wrong site). --JonBroxton (talk) 17:54, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- PeeJay, I have warned Bruninho on this topic, and recommended that he not revert 'Barcelona' back to 'FC Barcelona.' It would strengthen your case if you can find the actual discussion at WP:FOOTY that determined the consensus on this. EdJohnston (talk) 20:05, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- Part of the discussion was here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football/Archive_27#Bayern_Munich_or_Bayern_M.C3.BCnchen.3F, but it spilled across several different talk pages. --JonBroxton (talk) 20:16, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- Also, see Wikipedia:Naming conventions#Sports teams, which gives as an example: "Where an article is clearly about a particular sport you do not need to put a prefix or suffix like 'RLFC', 'CCC' or 'FK' throughout the article text, merely in the title. For example, FC Barcelona is the category name but throughout the body Barcelona is sufficient." cheers, Struway2 (talk) 20:20, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

BRUNINHO
Hi there PJ, VASCO here, longtime no "see", hope all's fine by you,
Regarding the user at hand, per Ed Johnston's request, i'll update you: I messaged BRUNINHO after ED asked me too, and he responded. His "beef" his the following: he feels that too much emphasis has been being put in Gerard Piqué's article, with all the other players from FC BARCELONA being "left to die" (that is to say, he says - not my view, i am only conveying what he said - all other BARCELONA players are allowed to have FC BARCELONA in boxes, safe PIQUÉ).
I remember you once told me you had no preference on whether it should be "FC" or "no FC", and i'll tell you (with a Portuguese example at hand) that this club, alongside Portugal's F.C. Porto, is often/commonly referred to with the FC's upfront, although it is also "spoken of" without...Confusing i'll admit it. Following ED's suggestion, i guess it could also be cool to present (maybe it has already been, but not in these molds) a WP/FOOTY discussion. What are your views mate?
I think (am sure in fact) BRUNINHO might also have some major problems in the knowledge of English, maybe this has caused some quarrels that could have been avoided. Count on me as a wiki-translator whenever needed. Have a great week,
VASCO AMARAL, Portugal - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 16:52, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
- Done: told him some more hints to follow, in order to avoid further disputes, also left a humble note in the sock investigation, hope it suits.
Regards, keep up the good work,
VASCO AMARAL - --NothingButAGoodNothing (talk) 04:35, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there PJ. Man, some apologies are in order, even though you thanked me for my SOCK post: in my sentence there (it's already been corrected) i first said "...i have no reasons to believe his judgments regarding the MAURICY sockpuppetry...", when i meant "...no reason NOT TO BELIEVE..."!! Sorry about that one :)
Also, i see that it is sad, even though i told BRUNINHO about your approach towards MAN.UTD players (such as he has one towards BARCELONA players). Other than MAURICY, as Jon Broxton points out in the sock investigation page, BRUNINHO continues to "go all cylinders" in both CRUYFF and PIQUÉ, anon now (has to be him, and the IP is from Brazil).
This past year, i have been dealing with a much much worse case, PARARUBBAS. This guy, as BRUNINHO, did not write one summary, did not engage in no talkpage conversation, removed REFS/EXT.LINKS without a word, etc. Opposed to BRUNINHO, he did try to write in English, with appalling results. Here is a summary of this "masterpiece" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Pararubbas/Archive). He has now ceased, at least from what i am aware of, to open accounts, but still "contributes" anon.
I do concur with you mate, it's getting rather silly, and i am getting really tired of this.
All the best for you, take care, i'll let you know if he replies (although i SERIOUSLY doubt it this time - i told him about the PIQUÉ/CRUYFF stuff, he went out and edited anon!),

How much do you want to bet that IP user 200.180.122.242 is Bruninho too? --JonBroxton (talk) 23:24, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Just thought you might want to know that Bruninho deleted all the references to sockpuppetry and the various warning from his talk page - I wasn't sure if you had it on your watchlist or not. Doesn't seem like he's taking the official investigation seriously at all. --JonBroxton (talk) 00:27, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Request reason:
Assuming this is for the farce involving myself and User:Mauricy, the other party has been informed on several occasions that their edits are contrary to consensus. They have also been invited to discuss this consensus, as it is quite obvious that they disagree with it. Nevertheless, they seem to be either unwilling or unable to communicate in English, which begs the question of why they are even contributing to the English Wikipedia in the first place! Anyway, that's the long reason why my edits should not be counted as edit warring.
Decline reason:
The edits aren't vandalism, and thus you are edit warring. Please see WP:EW#WHATISNT. Hersfold (t/a/c) 00:11, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Note: I have commented on Todd's talk page that I think the block was hasty and unhelpful and disagree with its application. Nev1 (talk) 00:47, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
- I wanted to avoid a wheel war, but having recieved the go ahead from Toddst1 I have unblocked so that the issue can be discussed. I will also unblock Mauricy and invite him/her to join the discussion here (if that's ok, or another forum can be found). Issue resolved (?)
Hi PEEJAY, VASCO again,
Per Bruninho's request, i now add the (translated) message he sent to my talk page, in its totality (also per request):
"Hey VASCO, BRUNO here.
First, sorry i took so long to reply. I know you want to help and i acknowledge. It happens these last few days have been really hectic for me; you can also see i have edited very little during that time.
I see there are some editors "in your case". My god, these fellows are pushy, everything has to be their way. It looks as if it's some kind of "society", where everything is pre-arranged and you can't get in and change stuff.
Honestly, i have given up arguing about the FC/no FC discussion. It will stay that way, some players with FC, some without. Everything will be a mess, but since it's what they want...
Another thing: i am not User:Mauricy nor somebody else. So tell them to stop the investigations and everything else. I am minding my business now, have been editing very little this last days (as opposed to them, i have a social life: work, girl, friends, etc...). Therefore, it article changes come about, it will not be me...
Please note well, i am ASSURING i will not change it more. I don't want any trouble, only for them to stop threatening and harassing me. If they leave me be, i won't disturb anyone.
I would like for you to write all that for them (preferably the entire text). And sorry again for putting you in the mix.
BRUNINHO"

I suppose dropping the "The" makes the most sense. "2009-10 Football League" sounds right... But this might be one of those times where adding "season" (ala "2009-10 The Football League season") might work best... but that's another issue. Digirami (talk) 07:57, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- I would concur that "2009-10 Football League" is the best option. Digirami (talk) 22:07, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
2009-10 Champions League
Good. You get the point. However, this version is considered outdated one comparing to the regulation one. Also, the regulation strongly differentiate the qualifying phase and the play-off round. Please be attention that I am talking the word "phase" instead of "rounds". That's why I split the play-off round out of qualifying phase, as it is only a qualifying round, but not a part of qualifying phase.
Also, plenty of articles shown that play-off round is out of the qualifying phase. Please be kind to refer to the Article 7.01, 7.02, 7.03, 13.01 (Turf standard requirement), 19.05 (Names at the back of shirt, which would not forced to be printed before), 19.11 (Competition logo must appear since play-off round instead of group stage). Too much evidences hidden the fact that play-off round is an individual round. Raymond Giggs 18:48, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- Best method to solve the problem, better to remind them to check the whole regulation and the introduction page before discussing. Raymond Giggs 18:56, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
UEFA Champions League 2009–10 group stage
Last year's article was "UEFA Champions League 2008–09 group stage". Why is it wrong this year? We know little about the group stage, but the coefficients are final, so why can't we post them? I think they are useful. Aidannn (talk) 21:42, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
- We know everything about the coefficients: they are final. My guess is that many people would like to know which pot is going to be drawn their team from. And, ok, there is a formal petition to change the naming conventions, but it's just a petition, isn't it? I won't mind changing the article's name if there is a consensus. Updates / Doubt
Hi there PJ, VASCO here, hope all's fine by you,
First things first: THANK YOU VERY MUCH for replying to previous issue (i sent five "memos", you were the only one answering). By the way, i don't think BRUNINHO has stopped, i have seen some anon edits (from Brazil) in past/present FC BARCELONA players (A or B sides) with the everpresent "subject" FC/no FC. Either way, i'm backing off from this, have had enough, having had to deal with the other vandal i told you about. Also, as BRUNO's edits are not seen as "bona fide" vandalism, it's not all that worrying (the other "user" was much much more worse!), methinks ;) It's just sad that he may be coming across as an unreliable person (i.e. checkuser showed he and MAURICY are same person, he denies it)...
My doubt: there is chap (anon and without a single edit summary to make it "better") that has been inserting (at least here and here) unofficial honours in player pages (i.e. friendly tournaments). I would like to know: is this "encouraged", non-allowed or indifferent? Problem is this guy seems unreachable, much more if he has a dynamic IP (in addition to already mentioned - no summaries).
Also from MATA's article, to give you an idea of how people are in their "contributions", more worried in making their mark on the wiki-world than improving article, look at this charmer i removed:
"After some exhilerating performances during the 08-09 season, Juan Manuel Mata was heavily linked with a move away from Valencia C.F. Recent reports in the media have often suggested that Rafael Benitez is keen to bring the left sided player to Anfied in a bid to rectify the problem position. However, these reports are yet to be confirmed."

Hi. I've reverted all your edits re this man who is called Robert in all the sources except CricInfo, which is quite often unreliable. One of the listed sources is S&B by Arthur Haygarth, which was compiled during Carpenter's career and this contemporary reference calls him Robert. I have no doubt that CricInfo has confused him with someone else. --Jack | talk page 16:41, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

I have added all I can, with references, on this subject. Whilst I do not dispute the "MUFC Halt" sentence, I can find no published reference to back it up, so I cannot help to render the "fact" tag unnecessary.
It was a pity you deleted the photo of the ground in its original state. This would have interested many MUFC fans. Where do you think you can find another? The original shot is uncredited and may have been taken any time after about 1923, but I was "ultra honest" in saying "circa 1930". Can you not relax your stance a little, not for me, but for the benefit of the fans? RuthAS (talk) 22:11, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
The photo cannot be traced. There is no mark or clue to its taker. It is on sepia paper (and therefore fairly ancient!) and came to me many years ago from a now deceased woman acquaintance. Other high-quality articles on other unrelated subjects which I've contributed to, have used my 'mystery photos' for the benefit of Wiki readers, the leading contributor having used the attribution wording which I therefore adopted when loading this particular photo.RuthAS (talk) 22:31, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi there PEEJAY, VASCO here,
Regarding this last chap with whom a lot of people dealed in the last year, i'll leave too "weekend" notes: first of all, he still operates anon, for sure.
Second, you might want to keep an eye on his "wiki cousin", Fleshly. This guy does not operate solely on FC Barcelona, but you just try and remove the FC's from BARCELONA A or B, you will be shot on sight!! It would be nice (i don't know how to do it or if it's possible) to see from which country is this new user operating.
At least on this matter (i'll admit to you i do prefer FC BARCELONA, but FC BARCELONA B is just too much, at least in box), i give up, just too much trouble and no gain...
Keep it up, until some other time,

Hi mate, I was wondering whether you thought it reasonable to have standalone sections for the different stages of the Twenty20 Cup. I created 2008 Twenty20 Cup group stage this morning to put the results of last year's competition that were filling up the main article. There is also 2008 Twenty20 Cup knockout stage and 2008 Twenty20 Cup Finals Day, which probably need a bit of clean-up. At the moment, results boxes haven't even been created for this year's competition, so these need to be done in 2009 Twenty20 Cup group stage. Thanks. 03md 10:00, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

I shall spend my time on Wikipedia as I wish. If I wish to spend it futilely reverting edits that are contrary to policy, then I will do so. Your vendetta against me for something that doesn't really affect you in any way is frankly laughable. – PeeJay 19:20, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- Too bad that you don't see that your revertions are counterproductive. And watching IPs set them back to reality is what is so laughable about you. Brudder Andrusha (talk) 19:25, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
How is it counter-productive? The match result is not ratified until the referee submits his report to the relevant association, so any changes that take place between the start of the game and the submission of the report are plainly wrong. If you have a problem with this, take it up with the people who draft Wikipedia policy and the IPs who keep mistakenly reverting me. Either way, your problem with me is misplaced. – PeeJay 19:28, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- Its counter-productive because its inevitable that the information displayed will reflect what the referee - and not just but media. Since you believe it is wrong why don't you disappear for duration of games and then come back and is see if the information is wrong. I reckon you'll surprise yourself to no ends that the information will be correct. Also you tend to be hypocritic in your entries. How is it that for football you play the dictator for the end of the match but for cricket I noticed you don't wait for the end of the game? Whats the difference? The match is not complete - so why aren't you playing the big Field Marshall. Obviously you'll make the rules and excuses up as you go along. Also I don't miss you in the Western Hemisphere. If you're so intent on not having live updates then why don't you stay up and play big editor tonight when CONCACAF will play their qualifiers. What are you scared to venture out of your playing field or do you just WP Policy to suit you entrade. I don't have any problems here in WP, because I'm far too old to be bothered with boys like you who really do have problems. BIG PROBLEMS in life! Brudder Andrusha (talk) 19:48, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Excess kit detail
Hi. I saw that you'd done some good work tidying up the images for the current Chelsea kits, getting rid of logos, etc. I'm not sure how to do this, so wherever I find these types of images I've just been changing to a simpler version from the kit pattern list. This often gets undone. So, do you think that you might be able to look at a few files where editors have insisted on creating a unique and overly detailed version of a kit for (presumably) their club? Here's a few I found recently: [25] [26] [27] [28] [29] [30] [31]. All lacking transparency, too, of course. Cheers. Dancarney (talk) 08:05, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Why did you just remove that? I added them to all the Premier League and Football league clubs, surely having the IPA is only improving the article? What possible reason can you have for removing it? If it's incorrect, sure, CHANGE it, but don't remove it, a great deal of featured articles have them and not just those with difficult to pronounce names. CohenMD (talk) 23:34, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- It seems a bunch of people have changed them, not just yourself, I won't bother with them again, although I have no idea how "not needed" is a legitimate reason for removing them. CohenMD (talk) 23:40, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Just saw you remove the Birmingham fixture from the article, when you think about it, it makes sense to do that per what you said and what is written. But how can a fixture in a timetable be copyrighted? Or be the Intellectual property of? Govvy (talk) 00:03, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well the fixture list seems public knowledge also to me, as all the media outlets copy it to their newspapers, magazines, websites. I don't think it's copyrighted material, but I wasn't clear how it can be the "Intellectual property of"! I beleive we should be able to put the whole list down if we want, I think it just means that the Premier League has the right to change the fixtures around if they so wish. Govvy (talk) 10:43, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well I never knew it was copyrighted! Well, I bet loads of websites are causing offence then if they arn't playing!! Govvy (talk) 13:50, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Upton Park
Hi, I have started an article on 2009 Upton Park riot which needs to be expanded. I believe it is sufficiently notable to be included as the story will no doubt develop in the coming days and weeks. 03md 17:26, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- We just had a couple of edit conflicts. Here are the substitution and yellow cards that I was trying to add, so you can just insert them into the article:
- Do you want to try and get a DYK entry out of the article. We need to expand the readable prose to at least 1500 characters. I was thinking of a hook like "...that supporters invaded the pitch on three occasions in a football match between West Ham United and Millwall in 2009?" We need to try and get it to that level within 5 days. 03md 21:13, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- As another thing, could you please have a quick scan through Fulham F.C. season 2009-10. Although I am a United fan, I also follow my grandad's team Fulham and keep the articles up to date. As you are active on the United season articles, can you see whether I am approaching the match summaries in the best way and basically check the layout of the page. We need to try and set out guidelines through the season taskforce for these pages. Thanks. 03md 22:09, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- Should I include reserve team players as part of Fulham's squad list on their season page, as you do with the United reserve players such as Drinkwater and Cathcart. 03md 21:12, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Can you add some details to the "Match Events" section of 2009 Upton Park riots (however limited) as this is necessary for DYK eligibility. Thanks 03md 12:14, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Is there a new manual of style going around for these templates? I see you edited ours. I have to say (slightly tongue-in-cheekly, and with no malice, I assure you) that I prefer our previous one. However, if there's some MoS mumbo-jumbo that some guy has made up, I'll defer to the new trend. Falastur2 Talk 20:43, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi, why did you revert my comment in the criticism section of the FIFA ranking page?! It's a perfectly valid criticism, and by reverting it you're calling it 'nonesense or vandalism'! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.111.6.5 (talk) 05:43, 30 September 2009 (UTC) I rewrote my comment, made it a bit more objective by taking out my suggestions, and leaving just the criticism of the current system. If you want to remove it, you have to give arguments why you think it's not true. However, the point I made is true mathematically, and math doesn't lie, there's no subjectivity involved here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.111.6.5 (talk) 06:21, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
My friend, I searched all over the internet and couldn't find anyone who noticed this issue. Now you don't need to have it verified by an article somewhere, because you can do the math yourself, as I show in the example, and you can verify it. I think no one noticed this, but it's blatantly unfair. And mine are not just concerns, they are mathematical truths, so I don't see the need to go look for a reference for them. It's like your asking me to find a reference for 1+1=2.
So out of respect for you, I won't change it till I get a response from you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.111.6.5 (talk) 15:22, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Ray van der Gouw
Hi there PEEJAY, VASCO here,
Longtime no see, hope all's fine by you. About my edits at Raimond van der Gouw, i'll explain about the infobox, since the rest is pretty much clear: my approach for its compression was the following - and since you told me "WEST HAM UNITED and RCK WAALWIJK are no longer than MANCHESTER UNITED": i compressed to WEST HAM, RKC and AGOVV because i thought those sufficed, being the names of clubs (WEST HAM is in London, RKC is from Waalwijk (and the same for AGOOVV)), but i could/would never compress MAN.UNITED to MANCHESTER, for obvious reasons, mate.
That said, don't worry, i will never revert that box again, i respect your approach, just wanted to let you know on my "tactics". By the way, about MANU's last match, do you know why was Ben Foster benched? Kind of weird to "rotate" your keeper in a CL match :) And still about the main point in my message, like i said, no worries, i am not BRUNINHO/MAURICY/LAVOTANOVO/etc, etc, your last version at van der Gouw, at least from my "perspective", will stay untouched.

Seasons in English football
Hi mate, I have been working on creating navbox templates for the seasons in English football, adding the preferred "Club seasons" section instead of "Transfers Over £10million". Could you take a look at them (I have done quite a few for the last 10 years) and amend any links or ommisions. I have been adding the team names to the template so that it serves as a record of the season, but left them as black-links until the articles are created - I hope this is OK. Thanks. 03md 21:48, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
- Can you please respond. 03md 23:28, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- I have just added Template:1961–62 in English football to the Huddersfield and Blackpool articles for that season but it doesn't seem to be displaying properly (it is leaving extra white space). Do you know what the problem could be and how to sort it. Cheers. 03md 18:18, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Hehe, I realized that... Quite funny, even though I live 500 m from where he grew up, I've never seen him play! ...until today! But I think he did quite well, the small amount of time that he got! Also nice to see two Norwegian players in United-jerseys again, brings back memories from the period with Berg, Johnsen & Solskjær (aka. the Treble season). Also looking forward to seeing Magnus Wolff Eikrem on the first team in an official match. lil2mas (talk) 21:03, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again! Did you see who scored the goals for the reserves team yesterday, in their 4–0 hammering of Sunderland? Eikrem scored two beautiful goals, while King had two in the net as well... We might just see them against the Sunderland A-team this weekend, what d'you think? lil2mas (talk) 09:29, 2 October 2009 (UTC) (see the goals here in the bottom of the article)
The information ab Joshua King have several wrong facts. I have tried to correct it several times but it seems that you just correct it back. Please get in touch with me at the mail address aboutking92@googlemail.com and I will give you the right information since I`m not so good with Wikipedia —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aboutking (talk • contribs) 16:45, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
