Hello. Because I don't know the coloring custom on en.wikipedia, I put a message on your page. Perhaps, could it be useful to color in blue (?) the third in each A-D group because these clubs are saved to the first qualification round of the LEN Cup? What do you think? Sebjarod (talk) 07:02, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, of course, I didn't know that. I'll see what I can do. Pakhtakorienne (talk) 09:04, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am discovering the rules for fr.wikinews. The source I found (plus the news sources) is a LEN rules for European club cups (pdf). Sebjarod (talk) 10:34, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Women's football task force

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to women's football/soccer articles. A tag has been placed on Liis Emajõe requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. refs

[edit]

FYI... When doing a <ref> tag. It comes after the punctuation and not before...

.<ref> and not <ref>.

Greetings Pakhtakorienne, Just wanted to let you know that I saw that you created the new article Marina Saenko--The content seems well-organized.However, I noticed there are some holes that may need filling: the references in the article do not follow Wikipedia guidelines. There is a tutorial on formatting citations at Wikipedia:Referencing. It's nice to see you editing!Jipinghe (talk) 18:05, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Some tips for you!

[edit]

Hi Pakhtakorienne, I thought I'd drop a few notes on your talk page with some help on writing articles :o)

First of all, it may be best for you to do a bit of reading, starting with the Wikipedia manual of style, which will give you a lot of information about how Wikipedia prefers its articles to be written. It's not as hard to follow as it might look; quite a bit of the information there probably won't be vital for you at first.

Second, I recommend you make a user sandbox - which is just an area you can use to practise in, and to make notes in, and to get things ready in. If you click this red link: user:Pakhtakorienne/Sandbox, that will let you create that page (it gives you an edit window to start work in). Anything, anywhere, on the help and information pages which gives you an example, try it out in your sandbox until you're familiar with it.

For your article, the next thing you want to do is start collecting as much information as you can about it. Google searches (particularly in Books and Scholar) will be your best friend for this! Once you've found the information, the next most important thing is to start writing up each fact in your own words (very important, this), and make a note at the same time of exactly where that information came from. Build in the references as you go along; I'm going to copy in, down below this, a whole heap of help on doing references, which was produced by one of our best teachers (Chzz).

Here's another place that you'll find incredibly useful - citation templates which you can copy and paste into your sandbox, between <ref></ref> tags; you just fill in the blanks from your sources into the template, and you'll end up with nicely formatted inline citations :o) It all helps. Remember to add a references section to your sandbox (make a new line, and put ==References== on it, and type {{reflist}} on the next line, so that you can see how your citations look as you do them. Remember to save your page often! You don't want to lose your work.

Hopefully this will give you a good start and make life easier for you. Pesky (talkstalk!) 10:34, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How references work

[edit]

Simple references

[edit]

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References ==
{{reflist}}

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Pakhtakorienne/reftest and try it out.

Named references

[edit]
Chzz was born in 1837. <ref name=MyBook>
"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009.
</ref>

Chzz lives in Footown.<ref name=MyBook/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates

[edit]

You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation
 | last = Smith
 | first = John
 | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century
 | publication-date = 2001
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
}}
</ref>

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.

Something to make your life easier!

[edit]

Hi there Pakhtakorienne! I've just come across one of your articles, and noticed that you had to create titles for your url links manually, or were using bare urls as references.

You might want to consider using this tool - it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script on Special:MyPage/common.js, or or Special:MyPage/vector.js, then paste the bare url (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for pdf documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. Happy editing! The article Esther Sullastres has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence this player has played a full competitive match per WP:FOOTYN.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Cloudz679 12:15, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sullastres plays in the Spanish First Division, the top category in the league of the 10th ranked European WNT, as shown in the first reference. In addition she has played a full UEFA-sanctioned official qualifying match for the 2012 UEFA Women's U-19 Championship, a notable international event, as shown in the second reference.
I realize the Spanish women's top division is not a fully professional league, but there should be different standards for men's and women's football considering in male football's most leagues are fully professional while in women's football it's just a few; in the context of international women's football the Spanish league is at least as notable as the Gambrinus liga in men's. If we only recognize players from fully professional leagues we would only have Bundesliga, WPS and Damallsvenskan players, which means ignoring 99% of top level women's football, which is shown just as competitive in competitions such as the Women's World Cup. By not considering the players from prominent semi-professional European women's leagues such as France, Italy and Spain's suitable for the website Wikipedia would be approving of discrimination in sports. I think Wikipedia has to address this matter. Pakhtakorienne (talk) 15:15, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As this bot-message is telling you, I've PROD'ed Marie Knudsen. I've also PROD'ed Melissa Bjånesøy and Cathrine Dekkerhus. Why? Simple because they are not notable. Of the four articles I found that you made on Norwegian female footballers, three are not notable, so I'm wondering - Are you familiar with the notability guidelines? Would be a shame to browse through your 650 created articles just to have half of them deleted. Mentoz86 (talk) 02:38, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
While it's not a fully professional league, the Norwegian Toppserien is one of the top women's football leagues in the world, with two teams eligible for the UEFA Women's Champions League, which is arguably the premier international club women's competition worldwide. Unlike the men's modality, women's football is basically an amateur sport, and restricting notability to senior internationals and WPS (which might disappear for good) players means missing a 90% of the picture to say the least. Do you really think a random Maltese international is more notable than a noted Toppserien player? As a sport with the same official recognition of men's footbll but different worldwide status and standards, I think women's football should have notability guidelines of its own. Pakhtakorienne (talk) 03:47, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You have some good points, but Wikipedia isn't about personal opinions. While you could argue that women should have other notability criterias then men, you also have another notability criteria which could be taken into account (WP:GNG). And these three footballers does not pass GNG in my opinion. I don't believe these are less notable then a maltese international, but that's unfortunately how the notability criteria are. On the hand, a non-international player in Toppserien receives less media-coverage in Norway then any non-notable player in Adeccoligaen (men's second tier) and playing in Adeccoligaen does not make you notable either.
If my understanding of the criteria are correct, women footballer have a less strict criteria for an article then other amateur-sports, where only participation in a World championship or the Olympic is enough. But you should remove the PROD-banner from the articles, and I'll take them to AfD which might lead to a wider consensus on this (if there isn't one already), like, for instance, participating in UEFA Womens Champions League makes you notable. Appelqvist is an important player in a contender for the next UEFA Women's Champions League title, which should be as notable as playing in a fully professional league. And she's playing in one of the top women's football leagues in the world, it's not like she's playing in the Latvian league (no offence). I understand this might be deleted, but I think it's unfair, you shouldn't use men's football standards to judge women's football. Anyway, I'd rather have it discussed so I'm removing the tag. Pakhtakorienne (talk) 09:48, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any reliable sources that support your claim that she is an important player for the team, or that the team is a contender for the next UEFA Women's Champions League title, or is it just your personal opinion? I am not using men's standard for women's football, if I were I would presume that players that have played in the Swedish top-tier league would be notable. What is important here, is not the football specific guideline, it is the general notability guideline, and if you have any reliable sources (independent of the subject) that describes Appelqvist as "an important player in a contender for the next UEFA Women's Champions League title", she would probably pass that guideline and I wont have to open an AfD. My experience with Scandinavian football, is that women's footballers rarely receives enough coverage to pass GNG before they are capped at the national team, and my searches indicate that it's the same way with Appelqvist. Stop with the tournament articles

[edit]

You are creating the tournament articles wrong. Stop with the template programming elements. You are doing articles and not templates. They are not allowed in articles. I keep removing them and you keep creating them. No more {{{RD3-team02| ... }}} stuff. Bgwhite (talk) 06:18, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand, all FIFA World Cup, Olympic tournaments, Eurobasket, UEFA Champions League... articles have brackets for the results. Or are you saying I should make them some other way? Is RD3-team02= acceptable? Pakhtakorienne (talk) 11:20, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No they don't. Not one of them use template programming elements. Careful, you are getting some things confused. Look carefully at the differences. I'm specifically talking about: {{{RD3-team02| value }}}. Please note the {{{RD3-team02| and its brackets. This is computer code for a variable which never is used in any of the articles and never should be.
Look at 2012–13 UEFA Champions League It is not doing what you are doing. You are creating a table. UEFA has everything inside a template. If there is a template similar to UEFA's that you can use for your articles, then use templates first. It will save you time and makes things easier to understand what is going on. Bgwhite (talk) 18:39, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I meant bracket as in 32 team bracket, not as { }. So this is acceptable, right? 1983–84 IHF Women's Cup Winners' Cup. Since yesterday I have been doing it like this, and it certainly is easier and faster. Sorry for the trouble, anyway.
By the way, there seems to be something wrong with the 32 Team Bracket 2 legs template, the finalists don't appear in their boxes. Pakhtakorienne (talk) 18:52, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Pakhtakorienne, 1983–84 IHF Women's Cup Winners' Cup looks good. It is no trouble at all... There are thousands of things to learn around here and we can't learn them all. Bgwhite (talk) 21:28, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It actually doesn't. The text of the article does not match its title.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 14:09, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have also PROD'ed the following Russian footballers for the same reason: Svetlana Baikina, Kristina Chichkala, Anna Cholovyaga, Nana Gelbakhiani, Nadezhda Koltakova, Elena Schegaleva, Olga Svinukhova, Olesya Truntaeva and Ksenia Veselukha. If you think I've done a mistake with one of those, feel free to remove the PROD-tag. Cheers, Mentoz86 (talk) 08:09, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think the Russian women's football league is professional: Spain will complete for a spot in the UEFA Women's Euro 2013's quarterfinals against Russia, a country with the same handicap of Spain, the low number of licences, but where teams have much higher budgets and players are professionals. (Diario AS, 18 July 2013). [1].
Here Spanish international Verónica Boquete also says it's a professional championship: Russia is another world, it has a professional women's league, which means Russian players can make a life from football and they grow knowing they have future right there. [2]
Anyway I think playing the UEFA Women's Champions League should be enough since it's the most important competition in European women's football. Pakhtakorienne (talk) 14:37, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Those two sources are quite interesting I thought no women's league were fully pro, but if your translation is correct this list should be added to WP:FPL. That playing in the UEFA Women's Champions League should be enough to confer notability, is only your personal opinion - if you want to change the notability guideline, you should start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Notability (sports). Hi, thanks for your work adding women's football position categories. One thing though - could you make sure to remove the parent category when you add the women's category? Disputed non-free use rationale for File:DKSK Miskolc logo.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:DKSK Miskolc logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Hi, before adding to the main club article, check to see if they already have a sub page such as Juventus F.C. in European football, or create the sub page, those lists warrant its own article. Thanks. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 02:17, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Those sub pages are linked in the main article within a summary section. This chart allows a visual scope on the club's progression at the European level throughout its history you can't get from the table in Juventus F.C. in European football, so I believe it's useful at the main page. Can I repost it with a "main" template linking to Juventus F.C. in European football for the full info before the deletion gets unrevisable? Pakhtakorienne (talk) 11:19, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to ask at WT:FOOTY. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 13:05, 15 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Swedish women's football clubs in international competitions, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Maria Karlsson. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Showteam table

[edit]

I've decided to insert the league table into a template for making easier to insert it in several articles (team seasons, Spanish football season, etc.). I don't know why your comment supposes a problem but, anyway, there would be the possibility to insert all the text about qualifications in a "Nowrap" template. I disagree, but that's an option. Asturkian (talk) 10:05, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I offer you this option, with the new module for league tables and respecting colors.
Pos Team Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts Qualification or relegation
2 FC Barcelona 30 24 5 1 98 12 +86 77 Qualification for UEFA Champions League and Copa de la Reina
3 Atlético Madrid 30 22 3 5 83 24 +59 69 Qualification for Copa de la Reina
4 Levante UD 30 16 6 8 56 38 +18 54
5 Real Sociedad 30 16 5 9 50 33 +17 53
6 Valencia CF 30 15 4 11 65 30 +35 49
Updated to match(es) played on 12 June 2016. Source: soccerway.com

Women's Football / Soccer Task Force News: August 2017

Should the women's football task force become WikiProject: WOSO?

According to an op-ed in the recent Signpost, some editors think task forces and subgroups are dying in 2017.

What do you think about forming our own WikiProject separate from WP:FOOTY? There's an on-going discussion of the potential pros and cons on the task force talk page. Input is welcome.

Recent developments

New initiatives have been created for:

  • FA WSL (England's top-division league)
  • NCAA (American university teams, conferences, etc.)
  • W-League (Australia's top-division league)
Ongoing tournaments
Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues
Did you know?

While WP:FPL lists only two women's top-division leagues as notable due to its "fully professional" criteria, did you know you can create an article on any player in any league as long as the references meet WP:GNG guidelines? Make sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}.

Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks page if you'd like and other editors may be able to help. Need tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors? Leave a message on the task force talk page.

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!

The article Pannonia Cup has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-verifiable competition. Google search gives zero results.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – Fayenatic London 17:27, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles.

If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.

Hello, Pakhtakorienne. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "List of invitational women's football tournaments".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

Hello, Pakhtakorienne. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2017–18 RCD Espanyol Femenino season".

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Lapablo (talk) 10:49, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Chelsea striker Bethany England scoring the winning goal in the team's 2-1 win against Arsenal at the 2019–20 FA Women's League Cup, February 29, 2020.

Hello WOSO editors!

What a year to be alive. As usual (but perhaps even moreso since there have been unexpected quarantines), there has been a lot of activity on player, team, league and tournament-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of women's football / soccer. Great work!

Fall Focus: FA WSL articles

You may have noticed lots of great things going on for the top English league this year: the FA WSL. More (international!) broadcasts, top international player signings, improved media coverage, and increased viewership. Let's keep the momentum brewing, shall we?

Here's a sampling of articles that could use creation, expansion or updating. What will you commit to working on?

Historical Topics
Managers
Teams
Players
Other

See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Initiatives/FA WSL to collaborate and organize with other editors.

Every little bit helps! Thanks for your contributions!

Did you know...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in two currently active women's leagues)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues

Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks.

Was an article you worked on nominated for deletion? See:

Want some tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors?
Leave a message on the task force talk page.

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!
