Websites / News

[edit]

  • JWsports1, primarily but not limited to South Africa; WAFCON, African teams in international play, African players abroad; website is now defunct, Facebook is still active
Asia
  • Japan: WE League
    • Japan Times (in English) (limited, infrequent coverage)
    • WE League (in English) (first-party/non-WP:IS press releases, including matchweek reviews and box scores)

Europe
North America

Stats

[edit]
General
  • women.soccerway.com (player/team/league/manager/referee/some NT stats; see also {{soccerway}}. Long-running and wide-reaching, but not comprehensive. Be careful.[d]
  • FBref (player/team/league/manager/NT with advanced metrics for recent top-division club seasons in much of Europe (including UWCL) and U.S., plus international competitions. Third-party frontend to DSG and Stats Perform/Opta data. Also has lesser stats for several European leagues and U.S. NWSL 2013–2015. Club data goes back to 2013 only. Many data tables support CSV/XLS export. See also {{FBref}}. Be careful.[e]
  • Playmaker Stats (player/team/league/manager/some NT stats, and a rare non-Soccerway source for referee stats in the women's game; global range but Europe-focused, see also {{Sports links}}. Be careful.[f]
  • ESPN; ie. WSL, NWSL, plus NCAAW, CONCACAF W, UWCL, FA Cup, Copa de la Reina, ESP, NED, AUS. As close to a raw feed of Stats Perform/Opta data as is freely available. League stats page tabs provide league season infobox top scorer, win/unbeaten/losing/winless streaks, and attendance numbers at a glance. Match reports often include referee details or attendance numbers not shown on league reports.
  • Global Sports Archive (GSA). First-party frontend to Data Sports Group stats across sports. Includes many lower-division and lower-profile leagues, particularly FRA and GER second divisions. Navigation to women's leagues/players is difficult; use search.
Europe
North America
  • Mexico
  • United States
    • Keeper Notes NWSL Almanac, published annually. League, team, player records, kit evolutions, some player career data. Self-published source by a subject-matter expert; supporting sources for 2013–2015 information might no longer be available.
    • RSSSF:
    • SoccerStats.us, WUSA, WPS, WPSL-E, NWSL 2013–2014. Be careful.[h]
    • Stats Crew (WUSA, WPS, NWSL, player/team/season stats and standings; no match reports or separation of playoff/regular-season stats)

Notes

[edit]
  1. ^ NBC redesigned its website in June 2023, which broke all existing links without working redirects. For example, the URL https://onherturf.nbcsports.com/2021/11/23/2021-nwsl-timeline-five-male-coaches-ousted-allegations-of-abuse/ is now https://www.nbcsports.com/on-her-turf/news/nwsl-teams-pause-games-this-is-not-business-as-usual .
  2. ^ Some SBNation club-/market-specific sites, all of which are now shuttered, are still up and retain stories from the WPS era to early 2023. A few, such as Angels on Parade, have taken over their old SBNation sites' domains to continue operating, but in the process have broken all existing links to the former content, which might now be lost if not archived.
  3. ^ JWS's original reporting is often WP:IS but the pub has a tendency, especially on social media, to reuse others' content without proper attribution or re-run press releases.
  4. ^ Soccerway sometimes unexpectedly combines stats for separate competitions, such as regular season/playoff or league/cup, and its career stats for players might silently omit teams in leagues it doesn't cover. Match report data might be inconsistent with surviving or archived contemporary reports, and Soccerway does not cite all match data sources.
  5. ^ Sports Reference hides some data, such as playoff statistics for NWSL player seasons, unless you view a player's match reports. Match report data may be incomplete or inaccurate, particularly player birthdate/place details and managers for specific matches in seasons where a manager is fired or suspended mid-season, and kickoff dates/times for matches that were postponed. Its career stats for players may silently omit stats for teams in leagues it doesn't cover, and its data for the NWSL from 2013–2015 is sometimes inaccurate, incomplete, or duplicated in other player records due to a lack of consistency or data in upstream sources. (Opta/Stats Perform has no NWSL data prior to 2016.)
  6. ^ Playmaker accepts user contributions and might not be a reliable source for all types of data. Suggest confirming data with at least one other independent source.
  7. ^ RSSSF sometimes cites Wikipedia as a sole source for league or season stats. Review sources listed on each page.
  8. ^ SoccerStats.us sometimes cites Wikipedia as its sole source. Review sources as indicated by the ☢ icons at the bottom of match pages.
