Hi again from Collywolly, a mere male. I noticed that you are very interested in articles about women. Some years ago I started an article at Wikipedia about Ian Higgins. I based it on an article I had written for Obituaries Australia. Now you will know my name. Ironically I was pinged for using copyright material because People Australia claimed copyright for the page and a lot of it was removed from Wikipedia. I never went back to the article. Perhaps you might be interested in revisiting my article and incorporating some more of it into Wikipedia. Ina was a person worthy of a good page. Collywolly (talk) 00:13, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- Collywolly, am heading out now but will definitely see what I can do about Ina this week. Oronsay (talk) 00:18, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
- I still have the Ina article with my detailed references. I think I have activated the 'email this user' facility. If you would like me to send the article to you, please email me.

Account status
Hi Oronsay, I have given you event coordinator status which will allow you to confirm new accounts for the edit-a-thon on the weekend. --Canley (talk) 05:22, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
After reviewing your request for the "eventcoordinator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:
- The event coordinator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
- The event coordinator right allows you to temporarily add the "confirmed" permission to newly created accounts. You should not grant this for more than 10 days.
- The event coordinator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the event coordinator right will result in its removal by an administrator.
- Please note, if you were previously a member of the "account creator" group, your flag may have been converted to this new group.
If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the event coordinator right. Happy editing! Canley (talk) 05:22, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Canley: Thanks. I hope there are lots of new editors attending on Saturday so I get to use this. Enjoy Tassie. Oronsay (talk) 08:45, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
Robyn Davidson
Hi, Oronsay. I reverted your good-faith Anna Krien citation in the Sydney Push lede on the grounds that (a) it's much more relevant to the article on Robyn Davidson, where it already appears, and (b) its relevant content duplicates what's said about her (somewhat fleeting) Push connection in the existing 'camel lady' citation. I also believe that Robyn's status as a Push associate is not substantial enough to warrant including her in the context of the other names listed in the lede, so her name may in future be moved to a future list of less-central figures in the body of the article. Regards, Bjenks (talk) 15:42, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
- I take it, then, that you are not objecting to the revert in this instance. Bjenks (talk) 15:30, 5 March 2020 (UTC)

apology
for your catchup tagging of living persons being required on talk page, it was all a bit of a chaotic situation (or has been since) - thanks for your fixes. JarrahTree 00:29, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- @JarrahTree: No problem. Always happy to help. I went to copy and paste from a Talk page and discovered BLP=n so set to work. It's been frenetic with the number of new editors and articles! Oronsay (talk) 00:35, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
Page mover
Hello, Oronsay. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Useful links:
- Wikipedia:Requested moves
- Category:Articles to be moved, for article renaming requests awaiting action.
If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Canley (talk) 21:03, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Twitter inclusion of snippet
I noticed your tweet included a snippet of the article. Did you do that manually, or is there an automatic way to do it?
I don't have much of a following, so it isn't going to make a splash, but I've created a few articles in the last couple days, and want to mention them on Twitter, so I'd like to do something similar.--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:11, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Sphilbrick: Manually. I do a screenshot of as much of the article as I want, then go to Twitter and upload it and add some introductory words, hashtags and people I want to alert. For new bios, I and many others say "Please welcome xxx to #Wikipedia". See examples by tweeted @jesswade. And remember to include the url to the article. I look forward to retweeting yours. If you write about women, do consider joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red and tagging your articles as they suggest - see talk pages of articles I've created. Oronsay (talk) 22:06, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oronsay, Thanks. I have been a member of WIR for years. I'll try the screenshot option. I did include the url, I even included the hashtag. I was half-hoping that including it right auto-generated the snippet, but I see I have to do that myself.S Philbrick(Talk) 22:43, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oronsay, Hey that worked. Tweet Now I just have to remember to do a spell check before posting :) S Philbrick(Talk) 22:51, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
Merger of Chisholm articles
Dear Oronsay, I'm embarrassed to see that I did not pick up on the existing article on Alexander Hugh Chisholm when I wrote Alec H. Chisholm. I have no experience in merging/deleting articles. Can you help me please with how best to do this? Alec H. Chisholm does not have a long history but User:SchreiberBike has put some hard work in that should be retained. Otherwise I think User:Maias version is better (and the earlier) so merging what I and SchreiberBike there would be the best approach. Thank you so much for picking up my error! James Jamesmcardle(talk) 01:50, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Jamesmcardle: I have no real experience myself, apart from a stub, which meant there wasn't much to lose. So far as I understand, the only way would be to add into the older article the items that are missing from it. Then, when satisfied all that is useful has been transferred, blanking and creating a redirect. Personally, I find it tricky sometimes to match the style of other editors' contributions. Otherwise, I suggest you ask for help on the Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board. Oronsay (talk) 01:57, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Oronsay: Thank you...that makes if clear...not as daunting as I'd feared! Jamesmcardle(talk) 02:41, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
