Image Tagging Image:AllenIverson2005.jpg
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:AllenIverson2005.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mwelch 19:32, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

KYW-TV
Once again, I reverted this article back to a previous version for two reasons:
1: single-digit numbers should be written in WORD FORM, not numerically; and
2: the letter c in the word channel should be lower-cased unless the word leads off a sentence.
These are basic stylistic principles which you incorrectly changed. Please take note of this before you decide to re-revert again. Rollosmokes 15:55, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Re: Picture Credits
Vandalism?! Where does it say that you need to put up credits for every picture instance? Stuff like that should be restricted to the Image Page. Of course, if that's a Wikipedia policy, I would be glad to know of it. --The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 14:39, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Just to remind you that you still haven't replied. You can't just threaten to report someone for vandalism and not deign to reply to their objections. And, in my opinion, you should read WP:VANDAL again. Unless you can justify the credits, I will be removing them again. Thank you, The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 07:38, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not trying to forbid you from saying that you've taken the photo, I'm just asking you to restrict the credits to the Image Page. See Wikipedia:Image use policy#User-created images, the last line of the section says "All photo credit should be in a summary on the image description page." Per this, I'm removing the credits again. Cheers, The Raven's Apprentice (Talk|Contribs) 06:04, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Artieimaginaryfriend.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Artieimaginaryfriend.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Unexplained revert
So, what's up with the unexplained revert on Countdown with Keith Olbermann? The play by play of Olbermann's response to the Talking Points Memo isn't exactly encyclopedic, doesn't add to the article, and is included in the link to Media Matters if the person really wants to see that amount of details. The 2 paragraphs I removed from the Fox News Security incident were both violations of WP:BLP, in my opinion. The first paragraph was completely uncited and contained personal attacks against Bill O'Reilly that were attributed to Keith Olbermann without the proper citations to support their inclusion in the article. The second paragraph fails WP:RS, in that, the "some critics" is supported by a blog from an unknown person and self-published sources are only acceptable if they are from a "well-known, professional researcher writing within his field of expertise, or a well-known professional journalist ..."WP:RS#Self-published sources --Bobblehead 17:25, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Netball entries
Hi there, i noticed you have removed the entries on the Portal:Current events/Sports page for the international netball results. Although netball may not be a major sport in the US, it is considered one of the premier womans sports in several other countries. I don't want to clog up the Portal:Current events/Sports page either but I think having the results of international netball test matches (especially when the world's 2 top ranked teams are involved) ranks equally as important as the 2006 Lusophony Games for example. cheers Goldfinger820 23:07, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

I was wondering why you were deleting some additions to the current sports news page? SportsAddicted | discuss 07:23, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Events that are not considered a "world championship" (Super Bowl for example) or "major event" (Formula 1 race as an example) are deleted. The cyclocross events that were posted were not considered into that type of category, hence they were deleted. NoseNuggets 10:14 AM US EST Nov 5 2006.
- Totally disagree, first of all they were World Cup meetings, second of all they're very notible events. What about tons of results of college football and other American competitions every day? What about NASCAR results? Why are these more notable in your opinion? SportsAddicted | discuss 05:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

As for American sports, I have already made the suggestion that the Current Events: Sports page be devided (as of January 2007) into North American and International pages. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:2009 NCAA Women's Final Four logo.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:2009 NCAA Women's Final Four logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:21, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Keith Ferguson
An editor has nominated Keith Ferguson, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Keith Ferguson and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 17:14, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Sbxvtowel.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Sbxvtowel.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mainimg.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Mainimg.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Roger and Juniper.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Roger and Juniper.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Can you tell me the source of that photo? I'm nearly certain it was well before 1923, but I would like to know the exact year... especially as some idiotic bot-program is trying to delete it. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 17:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- I installed PD-1923 meaning that it is public domain becase it's from before 1923. I just wondered where you got the picture from, so I could better determine which World Series it was taken from. No way it was from 1929 or later. I'm thinking 1910, or maybe even earlier. Do you recall where you got the picture? Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 20:59, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Caution: NPOV on Super Bowl XLII
February 2008
Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Super Bowl XLII. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Gwernol 07:59, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Adding color commentary like "rears its ugly head" is a clear violation of WP:NPOV. The story you are adding is already coverd in the Spygate article. There simply is no need to add it to Super Bowl XLII as well. You are welcome to add additional sources to the Spygate article, but there is no need to add it to Super Bowl XLII as well. It just lends undue weight to something that happened more than 15 years ago Gwernol 08:07, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Super Bowl XLII
I know you're busy editing the Bowl, but if you can take the time to read this. Thanks. I'll make this quick. I saw that you were editing the scoreboard (not you in particular but anyway) on the Super Bowl page. I was editing the scoreboard on the 2007 New York Giants season: Giants vs. Patriots page and I'm not sure if I did it right. I think I put the totals on too soon. Like I said, you're busy but after the game (which'll end in about a minute!) if you can fix anything I did wrong and maybe go on my talk page, tell me what I did. You know what, I'll let you go. Sorry to keep you waiting! 4M4 02:51, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 13:27, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
2008 NFL season
There is no evidence to suggest that the NFL is changing the date of the kickoff games. They're prohibited from playing on Friday nights during the regular season because of antitrust laws and high school football. Yes, it is up against the convention, but so what? That's irrelevant. They'll be going on at the same time but the NFL has to make the decision to move it, not you, and thus far they haven't made that decision. If you have a problem, see my talk page. J. Myrle Fuller (talk) 16:07, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- OK. Sorry for being somewhat rude the last time I spoke. I understand that is the intention, with the Olympics and all, but like I said, all of this is speculative right now, and until there is word otherwise, we have to assume that the current system and date of September 4 is going to stand. It's all but confirmed the week will be starting the weekend of September 4-8. Now, they could try to move it to September 6, but that brings conflicts with college football, and as I said, Friday nights are pretty much off limits because of the antitrust laws and high school ball. A Saturday afternoon game I suppose would probably be the best option on the table right now for the kickoff game... but that's just me. I have "September" listed in case the NFL does indeed make that chage. J. Myrle Fuller (talk) 01:44, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Pokemon-diamond-and-pearl-group.png
Thank you for uploading Image:Pokemon-diamond-and-pearl-group.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Jusjih (talk) 03:42, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

NoseNuggets I'm just trying to help out, you didn't have to leave that rude message on my talk page.
Since your not an admin please stop threating me that I will be suspended for vandalism as I have never vandalized Wikipedia.
The reason I changed the race names is because I checked Michigan International Speedway's website yesterday and it clearly says that the June race is the "NSC Series 400", obviously this is being used until they secure sponsorship. Maybe you have a better source which states the sponsor, you could at least add a reference for it in the wikitable next to the race name. As for the August race at MIS the website states it's the "3M Performance 400", I also double checked that with NASCAR.com's schedule, so you have it wrong.
Now as for the whole Sprint for the Cup debate it should really be put to an end, if you would check the talk page at Wikiproject NASCAR I left an entire message with two sources from NASCAR.COM that state it as the "Chase for the Sprint Cup" and so far all the NASCAR shows I have been watching during speedweeks are still referring to it as the "Chase". Even Royalbroil agreed with me that we should rename it, I just haven't had the time to move the page yet.
Anyways I would appreciate it if you would get back to me and maybe we can work things out in a nicer way.--KaseyKahneFan 05:01, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
NoseNuggets...you do realize that the MIS Race pages on Wikipedia were vandalized by the notorious User: 86.4.20.46. No one ever reverted the edits or updated the pages...so your going to believe a Wikipedia vandal against NASCAR.COM and Jayski.com? Jayski also has the second race listed with 3M providing sponsorship, while the first race is still on the only 2007 sponsor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KaseyKahneFan (talk • contribs) 05:15, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Replaceable fair use Image:Candi Milo.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Candi Milo.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rossrs (talk) 05:16, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Pokemon-diamond-and-pearl-group.png
Thank you for uploading Image:Pokemon-diamond-and-pearl-group.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:40, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

wikilinks
Grsz and I are concerned about the wikilinks for Tampa and such. I just don't want things to get out of hand. Could we discuss this at talk instead of reverting? I'm worried that we're editing so fast that we might leave discussion behind and get on each other's nerves a little. Wrad (talk) 05:34, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

2008 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament
Thanks for your recent improvements to 2008 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. You recently added two blogs as references. Generally, blogs are not considered "quality" references. If this article is ever nominated for good-article or featured-article status, these references and the material they support will probably be removed. If you can add reliable sources, it will be much less likely to be removed. On a side-note, it's best if sources include more than just the URL. I reformatted your sources to add a title, a date, and the date retrieved for each. If I was doing a thorough job I would have added the authors' names as well. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 23:20, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- You said you did not put in the actual blogs but that you referenced them. I assume you mean you didn't create the blogs but that you saw them and thought they would be a suitable reference to use for Wikipedia. My point is that by and large, blogs are not suitable references. See if you can find the same information on a news web site, an NCAA web site, or other "quality" location such as an in-print newspaper. If you can, replace the reference so it won't be challenged later. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 23:31, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- Re: The new source: as of this morning it's not working. It could be a temporary outage or maybe the link itself was short-lived. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 12:41, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Gopher-Cam.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Gopher-Cam.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. AfD nomination of Sarah Natochenny
An editor has nominated Sarah Natochenny, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sarah Natochenny and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:59, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:2009 NCAA Women's Final Four logo.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:2009 NCAA Women's Final Four logo.jpg.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:23, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:2007moneyball.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:2007moneyball.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Yes, I am aware of that template. You should be aware that there are other templates too, including {{afc}}, which you should have used for Sunderland. However, these templates, according to Template talk:Fc, are designed to be subst'ed, which is what I have done with all of the ones you inserted at Premier League 2007-08. License tagging for Image:2008MoneyBallIllustration.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:2008MoneyBallIllustration.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:06, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Japanese Game Show
May I friendlily suggest that you use the preview button in the edit window, or a sandbox page to test your edits to the table instead of taking a dozen edits for one major change; this makes it harder to see what you've done and also to keep track of the progress of the article, and (if you use the preview system), saves the wikipedia servers from having to store so many edits of the article that were really never intended to be final edits. Japanese Game Show
TV Guides commonly screw stuff up, and TV programs can be edited right down to the day they air. It's not unacceptable to post a "reported events" section that lists things like that, but it's a general practice in this type of reality game show not to post game-altering events in the synopsis section until they actually air; While wikipedia is a spoiler-ignorant site, there's typically a courtesy given of not posting information on future plot twists or game results in the same place as already-aired stuff until it actually airs (in the first market it airs in). It seems that the consensus is that viewers who don't want spoilers are expected to know enough to avoid reading articles on shows that have aired in the east for the three hours before it airs in the west, for example; but it is not generally expected for readers to have to avoid articles for a week or two in advance to avoid information that isn't written in a section specifically about unaired episodes. In addition, without having cited TVguide, we other editors have/had no way to verify the information listed as coming from any reliable source. I hope this clears up why it was deleted. Cheers. Image source problem with Image:SD 2251.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:SD 2251.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:14, 30 July 2008 (UTC). Speedy deletion of Image:Nodwav.gif
A tag has been placed on Image:Nodwav.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Nodwav.gif|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Image copyright problem with Image:Money programme 2008.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Money programme 2008.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

2008 MLB Playoffs
Granted, but the same applies to the Angels, doesn't it? MLB and all sports organizations recognize them as "Los Angeles'" team, even though they play in Anaheim (thanks to d-bags in ownership). So, that being said, shouldn't that be changed to "Los Angeles"? I mean, we gotta keep it completely consistent, and since the Rays have to list the entire region, the Angels should have to list theirs as well. Just my opinion, I guess.... EaglesFanInTampa 23:29, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- No, it seems that you're missing the point of what I'm saying. If "at St. Pete" is not acceptable (by your reasoning) it shouldn't be "at Anaheim" then, because the team represents Los Angeles, hence the name Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. So, I'm going to change it to reflect that. I was trying to be consistent, but since you want it "Tampa Bay", the Angels should (while it goes against every fiber in my being) and will be Los Angeles; otherwise, the New England Patriots would be Foxboro, The Florida Marlins would be Miami Gardens, etc. EaglesFanInTampa 03:49, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
MLB Playoff bracket
Could you possibly tinker with the MLB playoff bracket? I see that you have contributed to it. Yeah, when the IP was the only edit getting made, and it was always the same edit, I figured it was about time. We can't make it permanent, but we can just wait for the IP to return and then reprotect it for an equally long time--we have to have justification for the protect, and unfortunately one vandal isn't reason enough for indefinite semi-protect. Your help is always appreciated! :) Gladys J Cortez 09:57, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

What was wrong with my addition to the 2009 Daytona 500 page? It was an informative list of past winners and series champions who will (or may) compete. How was it vandalism? If you don't like the formatting (you might prefer it to be in organised columns), please inform me or feel free to change it yourself. Why delete it? What happened to the "Assume good faith" rule? 24.22.64.137 (talk) 08:17, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Okay, so why did you categorise it as vandalism? That seems a bit extreme.
I don't know if you are able to view my editing history, but I have not vandalised any wikipedia page (except by accident when I was still learning). I mainly contribute extra info or do a little bit of cleanup (or updating) when I'm not looking up information. 24.22.64.137 (talk) 06:27, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Actually, it did add to the article. It added relevant information that was not previously there on that page. Why should it be deemed as "nonsense" because I am not registered? If the information is helpful and constructive, it shouldn't matter whether or not the contributor is registered. (As for me, I wouldn't care who added it.)
The 2009 Daytona 500 page currently looks barren. The only information included is the obvious fact that it is the first points-paying race of the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, and that it is the final major sporting event before the switch from analog to complete HD broadcasting. A tentative entry list is a good way to make it better and more complete. 24.22.64.137 (talk) 05:33, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
But isn't that the purpose of Wikipedia? One guy (or gal) creates a page about a topic with what knowledge they have (be it a little or a lot). Someone else finds the page and adds more information. Someone else comes and adds an interesting format, some links to a website that has more information, or adds something else he (or she) feels belongs there. Someone who is an insider adds new info as soon as he (or she) learns it. And meanwhile, people who are curious will find it and learn what they want to know!
BTW, your piece of trivia got me to thinking...so I did a little research, and the last time the reigning Daytona 500 winner went to a different team was 1981; 1980 Daytona 500 winner Buddy Baker won the race with Harry Ranier, but drove for Hoss Ellington in 1981. But that doesn't include Bobby Allison in 1988, who had his career ending crash 4 months later. Very interesting! 24.22.64.137 (talk) 04:51, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

BCS Standings vs. AP/Coaches Poll?
Any particular reason you've replaced the AP Poll rankings with BCS Standings on the 2008 Conference USA football standings template? Brianreading (talk) 04:38, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
- NoseNuggets, I know you mean well, but there is a reason that most of the CFB project's templates use the Coaches Poll as the default ranking method instead of the BCS Standings. The BCS Standings' sole purpose is to place teams in the BCS bowl games, not for ranking purposes. The final BCS Standings are released after the final week of regular season play in December when the BCS bowl match-ups are determined. There are no BCS standings released after the bowl games, however the Coaches Poll's post-bowl #1 ranking is appointed the BCS national champion. It is for that reason that the CFB project a couple years ago agreed to utilize Coaches Poll rankings as the defacto ranking on templates, except in past seasons where archival Coaches Polls may not be available. Please kindly refrain from changing everything you see to BCS rankings. - Billma (talk) 12:03, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Bolding
The problem with using bold (as mentioned on the template's talk page) is that when you view the template on a teams page (such as Texas A&M), the name of the team is automatically bolded. This makes it look like Texas A&M is bowl eligible when you are on their page, when they are not. With that in mind, bold should not be used on these templates as it creates confusion. I think most people are of the opinion that there is no designation needed for bowl eligibility as their record already shows that. Please discuss on the talk page before adding any more designations declaring bowl eligible teams. Ryan2845 (talk) 04:23, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed. There have already been multiple discussions on the CFB wikiproject talk page about how to indicate bowl eligibility in general, and the consensus was that it was unnecessary. You may want to visit that project's home page before making some of the changes. - Billma (talk) 12:03, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
What if we just put a note at the top of the conference standings section that says something like "Teams with 6 or more wins are bowl eligible" ? Ryan2845 (talk) 04:32, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Big-12 south division title possibilities
What does "Longhorns win all but assures" exactly means? This phrase is not clear and should be better explained. There is a situation that 3 teams have identical records (both conference and total) going into the last game of the season. What should or shouldn't happend in the games of Texas Tech and Oklahoma for the Longhorns to win the title? I guess that in case Tech win and Oklahoma lose, Tech is the division champion because they beat Texas in their head-to-head clash, isn't it? Is there another possibility that the Longhorns don't win the title if they beat A&M? In case all 3 win and the 3-way tie remains, does the title go to the Longhorns in any situation? --Nitsansh (talk) 07:21, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

2010 Rose Bowl
- Re: "The participants in the BCS National Championship Game will partake in simular activities after the completion of the Rose Bowl Game.", You should check a little more carefully. No decisions have been made for the BCS game yet. After the Rose Bowl game? The Rose Bowl teams leave town and the BCS teams move into Southern California. Members only site has all the information, including where the training facilities, not the same as the Rose Bowl or the previous years. Interestingly, some how you get such information from the East Coast. Ucla90024 (talk) 16:20, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Don't know where you got the information. Members are getting information that these things will not be done: No Grand Marshal and Queen and Court participation, "It will be impractical to conduct a traditional Beef Bowl in Beverly Hills as is done for Rose Bowl Game", no kickoff luncheon, no Hall of Fame induction (same as in 2001 for the 2002 game, not a Rose Bowl game). You may choose what you want to believe, just like with Citi sponsorship or how they choose the home team. Ucla90024 (talk) 02:47, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Wikiquette Alert
A wikiquette alert has been opened here in regards to your uncivil behavior. Tomdobb (talk) 19:39, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hello. I reviewed a complaint that Tomdobb made about some of your edits on the above-noted Wikiquette alert page. Your comments on his talk page were certainly in violation of Wikipedia's civility guidelines. Additionally, when you warn someone for vandalism when they are engaged in a good faith edit dispute with you is additionaly uncivil and disruptive. In the future if you have a dispute over content with another editor it is best to remember that disagreeing with your edits is not vandalism, and rather than resorting to threats on the user's talk page you should open a discussion on the talk page of the article, or in this case portal, in question to obtain consensus. Thank you. Theseeker4 (talk) 21:51, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Super Bowl broadcasts
I've fixed the formatting mess that was the Super Bowl XLIII television broadcast section(s). It's pointless and stupid to use headers for a single line of text, and I've broken it into prose. Please don't revert back unless you gain consensus on the talk page. Grsz11 02:26, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:20090227finalfrontpage.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:20090227finalfrontpage.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 12:28, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of File:NewSyFyLogo.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:NewSyFyLogo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:File:NewSyFyLogo.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 20:48, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
When you are adding information to this and other sports-related articles, please remember to cite your sources using reliable information. I'm going to be trying another WP:GA nom with this article at the end of the season, and not having to chase down a reference for everything would be very helpful. Thanks. Fair use rationale for File:Mrredleg2007.png
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Mrredleg2007.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. §hepTalk 01:04, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:08 womensfinalfourlogo.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:08 womensfinalfourlogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. - I will have you know that I do edit much if not a majority of the NASCAR stuff here, and all of the 2010 schedule and drivers are rumors. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When using certain templates on talk pages, as you did to Premier League 2009–10, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:uw-test1}} instead of {{uw-test1}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. As you will note in the documentation for both {{fc}} and {{afc}}, those templates are not intended to be used as pure template calls. They should always be substed. Thanks. – PeeJay 23:39, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Criticism of Bill O'Reilly (political commentator)
An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Criticism of Bill O'Reilly (political commentator). We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Criticism of Bill O'Reilly (political commentator) (3rd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:26, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

For the millionth time, when you use this template, you must subst it! – PeeJay 06:57, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- Erm, no they're not. If you don't subst the templates, they get transcluded from somewhere else, meaning that the article has to access the template and then render it itself. This may reduce the filesize of the article in question, but it puts strain on the servers and makes the article take longer to load. Obviously we don't do this for all templates as that wouldn't make any sense, but when there is no need for the template not to be subst'ed, it definitely should be subst'ed. Therefore, either you start subst'ing the {{fc}} template, or I report you for disruptive editing. – PeeJay 23:58, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the report. However, I'm going to ask again that you take requests for page protection to WP:RPP. One, it will happen much faster if you take it there; I don't always log on, and sometimes have gone for weeks at a time. Two, since I've edited those articles extensively, there could be a perceived conflict of interest if I then protect those pages. Incidentally--neither I nor any other admin will permanently protect any page--even our most super-contentious articles, like the political articles or the various nationalist battlegrounds, don't get permanently protected. What I would do, though, is to track the IPs this person uses, in case we need them for a Checkuser somewhere down the line. If we can get this guy perma-banned, it will increase our abilities in terms of what we can do to stop him. Thanks! GJC 23:45, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Move Wachovia Spectrum ?
Hello NoseNuggets. I'm writing to seek an opinion about the Wachovia Spectrum page, and come to you since you've done a bit of editing on it in the past. I left a note on the article's talk page not too long ago, suggesting it be renamed back to "Spectrum" (or "The Spectrum" or "Spectrum (Philadelphia)" or some other variation). Since the arena is closed and will be demolished, the corporate naming rights presumably will not follow indefinitely - especially when and if the Wachovia name is replaced by one in another merger. According to WP:NAME, I think calling it Spectrum (Philadelphia), which isn't even a redirect at this time, is the most suitable, appropriate name. I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!
