Chicks Man
[edit]I thought the audio clip for "chicks man" was from Trent Lane from Daria. I could be wrong
- Sounds right to me Pumpkingrrl 08:09, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
"Kiss my ass!" Clip
[edit]I don't believe it's been shown for a while. Shouldn't the section on it be edited? --Gaming King 18:51, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes it should. I haven't seen it on the show since last year. I might have just missed it, but it certainly hasn't been shows on nearly every episode since. Bshbass 21:52, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Format section question
[edit]The second paragraph reads, "The shows have some similarities...". I'm not clear about what show is being compared with The Soup. Is it The What The? Awards (the topic of the paragraph above that one), Talk Soup, or perhaps Best Week Ever? Erechtheus 04:31, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
I found the answer to my own question. A very old version mentioned "unflattering comparisons to Best Week Ever" in the paragraph above the one I'm asking about. Somebody edited it out without editing the second paragraph. I think the reason for the edit was that there was no source to suggest the show format was changed due to similiarities to Best Week Ever. My new edit does not make any claim other than that there are similarities between the two shows. Erechtheus 04:36, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
Too long
[edit]Does this article really need every single thing that's been on The Soup ever?
Yes.--BrianGriffin-FG
This article is ridiculously long. Almost every sketch title of every episode is detailed... even the one-time titles. There are almost 50 subsections. It looks really unprofessional.
- Not signing your name is unprofessional as well. The page is great! 68.82.82.248 15:12, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
I apologize for not signing my name. I am new to this. My point still stands.Flair53 15:06, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
The article is a tad bit long, but that is what the table of contents is for, isn't it? Animine 01:01, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Dame Judi Dench
[edit]We could mention some of the gags she's been in since her Notes on a Scandal role.
Seinfeld?
[edit]Is it necessary to ask if you meant the Seinfeld episode "The Soup"? You dont even know the name of the episode unless you have it on dvd/tape, or if you looked it up online. I dont know of this is a significant episode or not, but it doesnt seem necessary. It is better than a disambiguation page, but still... I just wanted to ask here before changing it. PhorkPhace 04:24, 22 July 2007 (UTC) Get rid of it. Animine 01:00, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
MySpace
[edit]Does anyone have the official MySpace for The Soup? I don't want to run into a fake one >_> 209.91.61.223 04:46, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- I have it; it's one of my MySpace 'friends'. I can add the link if it is still desired. talk toSailorAlphaCentauri 16:23, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Article length
[edit]The length of this article is troubling to me, particularly in the "Regular features" and "Running gags" sections. A number of the sections are only one or two sentences long, and do not warrant their own sections. I think we only need to include the sections that are on most or all of the time, like Chat Stew and Let's Take Some E!. Anyone have any thoughts on this? — HelloAnnyong [ t · c ] 14:02, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- I went ahead and cut out a great deal of stuff from this page. I have given thought to a separate page for recurring segments and minor pieces on the show, but I don't think it's entirely necessary. This page had excessive fancruft, and it had to go. — HelloAnnyong [ t · c ] 14:17, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
I think the following need to be cut
3.3 Big-Time Celebrity Guest Star!
4.1 Seattle references 4.3 Sanjaya 4.11 Entertainment Tonight's birthday segment 4.12 Tony Danza 4.15 Jewbacca 4.18 The Nerds 4.21 Spastic dancing children from Yo Gabba Gabba! 4.22 Not Gay Chad
Off the top of my head I can only remember about 5 different times in 2007 where guests showed up and thus is not that frequent.
I haven't really heard a Sanjaya or Seattle reference on the show in a long time, same with Tony Danza (except an occasional saying of "Sad news"). The Yo Gabba Gabba Kids and Chad were small jokes that will likely die out now that the 2007 clipdown is over and both have been on the show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.38.26.101 (talk) 19:42, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree with the above user on those particular removals. After they are (possibly) removed then is there a way to protect against new/unregistered edits in a certain section? If it gets to be too long without a "running gag" listed in the article displayed on The Soup, then the segment should be removed. Should we set a time limit? 64.62.138.106 (talk) 16:57, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Guest Celebreties
[edit]I think we should make a list of the guest celebreties that were live. Like Danny Bonaduce and Tila Tequila and Seth (from Yo Gabba Gabba) and the rest. 76.27.215.219 (talk) 09:01, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Danny Noriega
[edit]The Soup, lately, has been using a video of Danny Noriega saying "Some people weren't liking it" (or rather, I think that's what it is. I can't be bothered to turn my closed captioning on when I watch. XD), for probably the past three episodes I've seen. It could be more. Should that qualify as a running gag? - user:SuperDMChan 15:06 15 March 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 19:06, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Heavy rewrite
[edit]I rewrote this entire page. It was entirely too long and was starting to turn into WP:FANCRUFT. There's a lot more in the article now about things outside the show, which is something that wasn't there at all before. I think we should continue to trim away fancruft as it gets added; a lot of anon IPs like to add little bits about the show that more trivial than anything else. Let's see if we can get more substantial edits on here. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 15:36, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Did you rewrite that "Clip" subsection? because I just noticed it says Whitney Houston saying "Kiss my ass" but I'm pretty syre it's Tyra saying "Kiss my fat ass"... (Bobbo9000 (talk) 13:26, 19 May 2008 (UTC))
- Both clips have been replayed over and over, but McHale said here that the clip is one of his favorites. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 13:45, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Should we make a list of 'The Soup Presents' episodes? ??lostiNconfusIoN?? 17:21, 15 July 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.51.245.72 (talk)
- No. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 21:52, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- Just tossing out that lists of episodes are completely appropriate for some shows, but not others. rootology (T) 19:06, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- Episode lists in general are perfectly appropriate, but since The Soup is basically a news show (really it is, oddly) that would be like having a list of episodes of 60 minutes, 20/20, The Daily Show, or Inside Edition. rootology (T) 19:06, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Ugh, It's Madonna
[edit]I guess you live in the western part of the USA. The "Madonna news" segemt aired for a second week in a row, so I can consider it a "spin off" of the "Myley Cyrus news" segment. NoseNuggets (talk) 12:36 AM US EST Nov 22 2008.
- No, it hasn't been running long enough to count as a spinoff. I'll say it again: this page is not an indiscriminate list of information. You'll notice that we don't have listings for every single thing that's ever happened on The Soup, and there's a reason for that. If you want to have a list of everything that's happened, go take it elsewhere. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 05:59, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Tosh.O
[edit]Should we mention Tosh.0 on Comedy Central? It's a show in the same vein as the Soups (mostly Web Soup). Also, Web Soup is on E! 206.51.74.38 (talk) 02:53, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, it isn't Tosh.0 Soup. --71.105.41.204 (talk) 22:44, 9 August 2010 (UTC)Know It All
Need to have a main article for Web Soup
