A quick question. Wasn't his sentence reduced to life imprisonment sometime in 1980s after the death sentence was delayed because of his mental illness ? The article does not mention anything about it. Tintin (talk) 14:27, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Answer: Yes, his sentence was reduced to life imprisonment because he was found to be incurable. He was lodged at Yerwada jail, Pune and was under treatment at the Central Institute of Mental Health and Research. When a panel of doctors who examined him at the directive of the High Court found that he would never be cured, the High Court reduced his sentence in it's judgement of 4th August 1987. It was only a few months later that Raghav died at Sassoon Hospital. He had been suffering from kidney trouble.

Speedy deletion nomination of Pune International Literary Festival
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Pune International Literary Festival requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hello, I am not in any way connected with PILF. I have not advertised it at all. A bare minimum of information was provided in my article. Please tell me how to escalate this matter. Other festivals in India all have pages so why has PILF been singled out? Please tell me whom I can discuss this matter with.
Pune International Literary Festival
[edit]Hello, I just deleted your article about Pune International Literary Festival. I saw your messages about how Pune International Literary Festival is "an eminent litfest" and you feel it should be featured. Unfortunately, the article I deleted did not sufficently demonstrate that this particular festival is notable as that word is used in Wikipeda to have an article, and the article sounded like it was trying to promote or advertise the festival.
If you would like to try again, here's what you need to do.
- Use the draft namespace to work on the draft so that it's not subject to immediate deletion. The fact that the article has now been deleted twice in mainspace means that any article that does not go through an acceptance process is unlikely to survive.
- You say that the festival has gotten a lot of press coverage. That's good, that means it's more likely to be notable. However, all of the information you put in the article should cite the reliable sources that you got it from.
- Avoid using unnecessarily flattering language. Peacock terms often give the impression that you are trying to advertise or promote something.
- When you have a draft together and you think it's ready, put
{{subst:submit}}
at the top of the draft and someone from AFC will come along and review it. If you want me to take a look at it first, I will. Just ask me on my talk page. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 19:43, 26 July 2019 (UTC)
It's disappointing to know that the article on the Pune International Literary Festival did not meet Wikipedia standards. I had cited two national newspapers where the news was covered and two famous personalities who had inaugurated the festival in 2017 and 2018. I had given a link to the government location where this festival is held every year. This is more than say, what the Kerala Lit Fest has done but that article has not been deleted. My article has as much authenticity as the Jaipur lit fest though I am not saying that the PILF is as great as that. I stated facts and there was no advertising, not even a bit. I have no idea what was in the first article on PILF as I have not read it. I find the deletion most unfair as the article I posted had good credentials. PILF is a notable festival in India and I gave proof of it. Is there any way to access the deleted article so I can ask for a review? There is no point in me writing a draft article as it will be identical to the one I wrote earlier. NitajkNitajk (talk) 01:49, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
- I have restored the article in draft space at Draft:Pune International Literary Festival. I restored the whole history, so you can see what was deleted before your version in case there is anything salvageable from that. Your version does not cite any sources. Please read some of the links I've left for you so you can understand sourcing better. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 04:46, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. Let me think about it and see if I can find better sources although at this point of time I cannot think of better sources than major national dailies of India, links to famous people who have inaugurated the festival, and the Maharashtra government location link. Let me search for more sources. Nitajk Nitajk (talk) 04:55, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
- I've made some edits to the page. I moved the two news article links down to the reference section where they belong, and moved the link to the homepage and venue to the external links section. I also added some information from one of the sources that you did not include in the article but which strengthens the argument for including the article. Lastly I added citation needed tags by sentences or paragraphs that don't cite sources, so you can focus on finding sources for that information. I hope seeing what I did helps you understand what we're looking for. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 05:23, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for this. I am afraid I am not tech-savvy and am struggling to figure out how to do this stuff. It took some time to know that I had to edit this section to reply. I will work on what you mentioned. Nitajk (talk) 07:09, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
I have made several changes to the draft page of the PILF. Please can wikipedia review this on an urgent basis? Thanks. Nitajk (talk) 05:49, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
