What just happened?
[edit]Professori Aarne Halmeen johtama automaatiotekniikan tutkimusryhmä on mukana tekniikan alan EXPO21XX-virtuaalimessuilla. Messuille on avattu uusi tutkimusta esittelevä halli automaation siipeen.
I am wondering why you keep on deleting this particular platform, we have specifically designed for robotics departments world wide to showcase their research to potential students on one platform, all free of charge. If you take a look at this platform, you would notice that it has nothing to do with "blatant advertising" as you call it, but rather an information platform with contributions from some of the best brains in the field of robotics world wide. Now, tell me! If you accept the inclusion of the name KUKA, a top robotic production firm in the world, cannot it be termed as "blatant advertising?" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Squart (talk • contribs) 10:41, 5 June 2008 (UTC) disruptive edits? why not tell me str8 up what is wrong with the content when pages like

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Epygi, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? BJTalk 10:16, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Jeremy Bison
[edit]Hello, How come you deleted my article on the Web Series Jeremy Bison? From What I can tell it does not void the terms of use. It is informitive about this young man and gives good facts for wikipedia users looking for more information on Jeremy. I am not Jeremy himself, so therefor I am not advertising myself nor am I advertising him. I am plainly giving other facts about Jeremy and his web series.

Hi there. I was patrolling the new pages and this one popped up. While I was tagging it with the expansion template, I think it got deleted. Then by the time i completed the tagging, I seemed to have created the article with just the tag! If that now makes me the author of the page, as far as I'm concerned it can be speedily deleted! Clonakilty AFC
[edit]Howdy, I think the article Clonakilty AFC did assert notability (recent championship, linked from Clonakilty I believe, but I can't see deleted contributions). Also I think the article was nominated for speedy and declined. Can you check? JackSchmidt (talk) 18:46, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! Glad my memory was correct. I've been stub sorting a wide range of pitiful articles and usually check if they warrant speedy deletes or prods. I figure lots of these will eventually be deleted or merged by wikiprojects, but I like to let the subject experts decide what to do with the articles if they are not just obvious trash. At least for new math articles, I've been surprised at how many "good looking" articles were trash and how many dictionary definitions were notable and easy to fix to start class, so I figure soccer stubs must be just as weird. Wilson
[edit]I have done so by now. The move should not be controversial. A man should not be deprived of his first name. Str1977 (talk) 21:01, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- If that is so it's a shame. People have a right not to have their names mutilated by depriving them of a first name. Sure, Al Gore not filed under "Albert Gore Jr." but neither is he simply "Gore". Str1977 (talk) 21:07, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- But Woodrow is not actual christian name but his mothers maiden name. The current president or his father are not filed under "Walker Bush". Str1977 (talk) 21:24, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I'll see whether anyone disagrees. Str1977 (talk) 21:29, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- You cited your opinion that the policy supports Woodrow Wilson instead of his actual name including the first name. I base myself on no other policy but hold a different opinion.
- PS. Your disagreement (posted on the talk page) is now noted as opposed to before, when I had not seen your comment there and only had your edit summary which didn't bring a substantial opposition but only talked about a lack of consensus.
- BTW, any further discussion should be on the talk page and not on user talk pages. Str1977 (talk) 21:53, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Gyst article - deletion
[edit]Hi, you deleted an article I had heavily contributed to as well, (Gyst) and it was completely apposite for wikipedia - factual, unbiased, and informative about a small organisation (well i thought so at any rate) - why did you delete it? Do problems arise from having too many articles on wikipedia, or were you just being stingy? I've generally had good experiences with Wikipedia so I'm presuming its the former... willval123 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Willval123 (talk • contribs) 17:23, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Gamah Watch
[edit]Hello, I re-created the Gamah Watch page which you deleted earlier, and tried to add more information about its significance. Can I do anything to improve it? Though small currently, the owners do have contact with Nintendo, and are in the process of recieving games to try out and review, which would generate much more traffic, and also increase its significance. Sorry about the lack of quality in the original page, but there was a lack of time then and we have since improved it. Hopefully this one will suffice. Shopit (should reconsider deletion)
[edit]I saw that you deleted the page for shopit and I wanted to discuss its notability. I looked over the previous version and agree that it was written as an advertisement but believe that meets the notability threshold. It is the leader in the profile e-commerce business, perhaps not a segment that is known to everyone, but one that has garnered substantial press recently. You can google them if you would like... Also, I know that they are one of the top facebook applications (as sad as it is this is a very good measurement) and they have inked substantial deals with netvibes and wyclef jean. Please let me know your thoughts - I would be happy to write a non-advertising description of the company for your approval. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wjohn928 (talk • contribs) 06:10, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

On deletion of Fly Communications article
[edit]I'm trying to get the article on Fly Communications published.
I appreciate the idea that Wikipedia is not the place to advertise. However, how does one walk the fine line to report on progress in successful techniques of advertising. I think this kind of progress has important intellectual value, just as the recognition of how our individual tastes for "nostalgia" are cultivated ... yes, it only seems like advertisers use this "nostaglia" theory, but it does reflect something inherent in human nature. Likewise, the firm has successfully combined these two conflicting approaches (direct marketing, which involves a call-to-action, and branding, which involves an emotional connection). And I believe that Fly was one of the first firms to combine these successfully.
Thus, I believe it is worthy of publication.
Regarding, the idea that the article in question is "advertising" something, this is not the case. The article does not "advertise" any product or service, but the article is about the advertising industry and a company that has pioneered a particular approach.
An easy way to demonstrate that this article is NOT advertising is to pretend the article were about a firm that were to pioneer the combination of baking soda (used by bakers) and vinegar (used by salad chefs) to produce a chemical result that could be used with childrens' Science Fair projects illustrating volcanoes and their lava flow. The fact that is has become popular does not diminish the experimentation and success with combining features of separate disciplines (bakers vs. salad chefs).
Considering that the article is not intended to advertise, what kind of improvements do you suggest to make it suitable? Clearly, Wikipedia has articles on companies and other companies in the advertising industry ... maybe a little explanation of improvement would help me make the article suitable to Wikipedia standards.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help.

Types of Professional Wrestling Styles
[edit]Just bringing to your attention that the article you speedy deleted 05:29, 8 June 2008, Types of Professional Wrestling Styles had passed an AFD nomination with a conclusion to keep 18:33, 7 June 2008 (UTC), less than 24 hours before your speedy, see Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Types_of_Professional_Wrestling_Styles. It seems like someone might have been having a second bite at deletion by tagging the article for speedy after losing at AFD. Regardless, given the unanimous consensus outcome at AFD less than 24 hours earlier, if you believe that the material is questionable, perhaps it would be better to re-list it for AFD again? Thanks! They have now requested an unblock and ask why sanctions were not taken against the persons edits warring with them. That's a good question given that the person edit warring with them did the blocking. On the face of it it appears that you were far too involved to issue any blocks here and I have certainly seen situations similar to this where both parties have been blocked. Please can you review your block and remove it if you feel that you were too involved to do the blocking? If you disagree with this, please can you explain why you do not consider that you were involved because a plain reading of the diffs really suggests to me that you were. Clear Glass Records
[edit]Please be so kind and do explain why the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clear_Glass_Records has been deleted by you? I've put a tag to hold on for a while and added some reasons of importance on the article talk page as it was proposed in the warning I've received, though you did not reply to me on the talk page and just have erased it without further notice or explanation.I was hoping to discuss the reasons I've provided and I can provide you with more, if needed. I believe that your conduct does not follow Wikipedia Deletion Policy.I'm still hoping to get some explanations from you, or consult with someone who can judge our conflict and dispel my doubts on your level of proficiency. Non profit organization guidelines?
[edit]Hi
I recently created a page for Michigan Works, which is a non-profit employment agency in Michigan in which I work for. I created them a page, but it was speedily deleted. I know I had on there a lot about the company, but I tried to model it off the other business pages suggested in the tutorials, like Kleenex and Sharpie. So it is advertising... but we don't get money for it... So I guess I am wondering if there are specific guidelines for non profit organizations on Wikipedia?
Thank you!

deletion of "Throwback"
[edit]Throwback is a notable band from Montreal Canada and has helped create a certain genre of certain music. After discovering the band I decided to look for info on Wikipedia about them and found none. So I made an article. I have used outside sources to verify the information in my article and do not know why it was deleted so "speedily." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xcntryrunna518 (talk • contribs) 19:44, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Soviet UNI
[edit]The article on the student-controlled organization Soviet UNI was entirely legitimate. While the name may suggest it is a joke, it is not. The name is a play on the Soviet Union, as the organization was started at University High School, also known as UNI, thus, Soviet UNI. It is a real organization that was established to introduce high school and college students to alternative forms of government including communism, fascism, anarchy, true democracy, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chasenstark@gmail.com (talk • contribs) 23:10, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Redirect of From the pavilion
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on From the pavilion, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because From the pavilion is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting From the pavilion, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. You were one of several admins to speedy delete the article about Miley Cyrus' half-brother. I have drafted an article in my sandbox (permanent link). His band now has a hit song and he has been interviewed on national shows like MTV's Total Request Live and American Top 40 in the last week. He is subject of numerous articles in major publications like MTV, VH1, and the Los Angeles Times. I think that the answer is obviously yes, but I decided to be cautious since the article had been salted because so many people were posting one or two sentence biographies when he had lesser notability. Do you think that a full deletion review is necessary? I added your talk page to my watchlist. Royalbroil 03:58, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Perhaps it would be a useful idea with a 'speedy deletion' to allow time both for a contestation AND comments to be added to the discussion page verifying WHY it shouldn't be deleted. This was a poor deletion, and did not allow adequate time for due process of the directions given by the site as to what should be done. Talk about trigger-happy (and looks like you have past form). [edit]Hello, I was notified that the article I created was immediately deleted from Wikipedia because of "Blatant Advertising". Futher review of the article would show you that it is nothing more than an aggregation of much of the available information about this candidate. The focus of the article is entirely on the candidate and his businesses and family background are included only to inform the public of the candidate's history. Every effort was made to present a balanced article and I believe it should not have been deleted. Is there any way to undo this delete? Trying to understand better how to reverse deletion of Jewpiter
[edit]I saw that you changed your mind from questioning the notability of Jewpiter to indicating that it was blatant advertising. I've read through the guidelines on spamming and would ask you to specify what needs to be changed in order for it to not fall under "blatant advertising".
I wanted to explain that 150,000 college kids go to Israel each year with Birthright and to demonstrate that aggressive follow-up is needed to enable the full results of such a trip. Every young Jew in America has heard of Birthright Israel. It's a well-known organization, hence having its own page on Wikipedia. Jewpiter doesn't need to recruit the kids through Wikipedia...they find out about it while they're on the trip to Israel. I merely wanted to present Jewpiter objectively as an organization. How can i make it more objective, because clearly you don't think it is as it stands.

Insite Security article
[edit]Hi. Can you please advise me of the differences between this page about Control Risks Group (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Control_Risks_Group) and my page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insite_Security)? To me they look similar, with their page giving more details about how their company evolved, but no more relevant references or noteworthy narrative. They were the first group to offer a certain business solution (kidnap advice) and Insite was the first to offer a different solution (outsourced management of security issues). Can you suggest some changes to make the story of Insite and Insite's practices more acceptable for wikipedia? I am not trying to place an ad, but I do think the business and style of business at Insite is unique and relevant for exposure. Thanks.--Amigdal (talk) 15:08, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Insite Security follow up
[edit]Hi NawlinkWiki. Can you still advise me on how a company's story can be published on wikipedia? Should I reference some significant business or projects that Insite has done? Would referencing some of Insite's clients help? These steps can be difficult because of the confidential nature of security work. I am sorry you are considering the Control Risks Group page for deletion -- I think they are significant and information about them should remain available. Bigger corporations with a big impact have articles all over wikipedia, CRG and Insite are smaller businesses but still notable for their unique services. Does this make them less suited to be described in wikipedia articles? I have read the standards, but terms like "notable" "relevant" or "blatant advertising" are not helping me understand what facts must be present in an article to make it worthy of publication. Can you advise me how to structure the article, what type of facts to include, what type of references would make it acceptable? Thanks.--Amigdal (talk) 15:26, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

could you please tell me what i'm doing wrong, because you've told me before that i can't sort of put quotes in, and i've taken them out etc etc.
help please! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rowland Alan Reeves (talk • contribs) 14:07, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Source-Code links deleted
[edit]You have deleted links to source-code that I've posted. These are legitimate links which are very popular, some of them receiving more than 50 downloads a day! Besides, I've put the links in the 'External Links' section where they belong. And why haven't you deleted links to others' source-code?!? Please stop deleting these links. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chipchap (talk • contribs) 12:52, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
hot office
[edit]for christ sake, what am i doing wrong?
i'm working for the hot office, and i've been asked to upload a wikipedia article.
i really don't see a problem with stating that its a company that rents out office space which is based in the uk.
please tell me why that is so terrible, and how i can edit the article so it is acceptable for wikipedia!
regards,
Rowland Reeves —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rowland Alan Reeves (talk • contribs) 14:05, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Please review my AfD closures
[edit]Hello. I've only recently begun closing AfDs (I might, I think, have done one or two shortly after I was enmopped, but heck, that was a long time ago) and I'm looking for some critical feedback. I thought you might be able to give me some pointers / flag up ways I can improve / point out I've made horrendous cock-ups that I can fix.
I'm aware that it took me some time to get the hang of where to place the top message and I still sometimes forget to remove the categorisation line. That's just me being daft and I think I've just about got it now. But... apart from that... anything I can sharpen up?
Cheers --Dweller (talk) 15:33, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- Blimey, that was quick. Thank you so much! If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate it if you cast an eye again in a week or so, as I'm stepping up to more complex consensus decisions. --Dweller (talk) 15:44, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
My Page about Trayce Shaw
[edit]He is a real person, but he's an important person. He's famous and I think that he deserves to have a Wikipedia page. He needs to be known. I thought I could put him on here because Chris Crocker has a page on here. But Trayce's videos actually have a point... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ddrlover (talk • contribs) 17:44, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Thank you for reverting the vandalism to my talk page and also for all of your other contributions to Wikipedia. I frequently see your name on articles I watch and know those are edits I can trust. →Wordbuilder (talk) 19:10, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
At my wit's end
[edit]NW, I am totally at my wit's end with User:Presumptive and his attempts to ride roughshod over the AfD process concerning an article he's apparently obsessed with. He has made a mockery of the ANI page (see Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#How to respond to threat of blocking, how to get more time to receive info about an article? and this AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Murder of Joseph Didier (2nd nomination). He's even gone so far as to copy-and-paste comments supporting him from the original AfD, and also posted an online classified ad to get people in the town where this murder took place to jump in. I am completely and totally exhausted by his actions, and have decided to turn to you to see if something can be done about him, or if I'm just plain crazy. I might add that this guy seems particularly knowledgeable about Wikipedia policies (or not) for someone whose first known contribution was three weeks ago. If I didn't know better, I would suspect sockpuppetry, but I have no way of investigating that. Can you help before I jump off the proverbial ledge? - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 06:32, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi, can you please allow Forvik to be edited? There has recently been plenty of new information on news articles and its website. It is still too early to label it as too short, it was just created today. Thanks ----- Onecanadasquarebishopsgate 13:05, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for protecting Forvik. We now have Crown Dependency of Forvik. I am not sure of the protocols here - should this be subject to a WP:Merge proposal? Ben MacDuiTalk/Walk 08:04, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- No, as it is an article on a different subject, the only similarity being the location of the micronation, which is mentioned in several news articles and even has an official website. Onecanadasquarebishopsgate 16:50, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
A Spring of Hope
[edit]The non-profit 501(c)(3) charity A Spring of Hope was deleted 3 times earlier today. It is a legitimate foundation. I listed a Miami Herald article that recognized the charity, but the page was even deleted before I was finished. This is a very notable foundation. The official website, www.aspringofhope.org offers all of the information. Why was the page deleted? I also lost all of the copy I put on the page; is there any way I can recover it? http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Spring_of_Hope

Protection request
[edit]Hi, you protected the redirect at Forvik, can you also protect Crown Dependency of Forvik as well please. --MacRusgail (talk) 16:33, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- This redirect is not needed as this new article is describing the micronation itself, and not the island in detail - that should be left as the purpose of the Forewick Holm article. Onecanadasquarebishopsgate 16:47, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not exactly sure why to be honest. Although it exists mostly in the head of Mr Hill, the Forewick Holm island article remains a stub, and this is possibly the one and only significant thing that has happened there. There aren't any brochs for example...--MacRusgail (talk) 18:09, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Detailed information on the micronation has no place in the Forewick Holm article, but rather in an article on the micronation itself. Whether anything else significant happened on the island or not is irrelevant when deciding if CD of Forvik should have its own article. Onecanadasquarebishopsgate 18:39, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
On an old change...
[edit]I've been a wikipedian for a few years, and I was just now about to create my user page, and it said that you had already previously deleted it, even though I'd never made one. It was back in December, but do you, by chance, remember what happened? (Sawyer (talk) 02:50, 28 June 2008 (UTC))
Lyle123
[edit]Hello NW. I may already have told you this but I never remember these things... In any case, can you let me (or Dmcdevit) know when you block new socks of Lyle123 (a.k.a. StealBoy)? For a few months now, I've been tracking down his socks with the help of Dmcdevit (unfortunately M.I.A. right now) so I'd be grateful if you can pass along the info so that range blocks can be imposed. Thanks, Pascal.Tesson (talk) 16:09, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
