You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. —DoRD (talk) 12:05, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Did you really take this photo of Don Zimmer yourself? [1] Burpelson AFB (talk) 20:11, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • The original is a personally autographed photo, to me ("Mark"), of Don Zimmer, given to me at the last game of '73 season. I took a photo of the autographed picture. It was a fan appreciation day event. If you feel strongly that there is a copyright issue and it should be removed, we'll remove it. If you wish to discuss further, I will respond.Mwinog2777 (talk) 01:13, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

December 2010

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. —KuyaBriBriTalk 17:03, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think it was called that euphemistically, as a nice way to describe what had been in the past a one-person edit war. As you will see if you review the archives, there has been consensus regarding this matter for some time. Admittedly, there may have been changes to categorization of BLPs since then, and that would reasonably have to be taken into account. But, yes, I think in fact several parties have grown weary of what has been in the past, some might say, a POV driven argument by one editor. John Carter (talk) 01:19, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Few housekeeping/citation thoughts:

1) Using "naked" urls isn't generally considered fully useful for citations, I've found. They leave nothing to cite in case the url fails in the future, for instance; besides looking real ugly in the notes section.
2) I've found using Yahoo and Google news as a source has a higher likelihood of "going dead" in the near-med. term. For instance in this article see Footnote 19, a Google cite (naked url, too) and already dead.
3) Yes, mine from the Times was outdated by yours when the event moved from "expected" to actual; but by just cutting the Times cite instead of finding a way to build the confirmation on top of the existing copy, you lost a cite that was likely to be there for a while and replaced it with one that, as I say, isn't so firm.

I've "fleshed out" the naked urls but have left the curious near-duplication (is it?), Google v. Yahoo!. I haven't worked to find a solider source for the story/-ies. Usually a newspaper site will have the AP stories and are more likely to carry them for longer, in my experience; one can find them via a Google search for the headline (in quotes) I've found usually. Hope this is maybe helpful. Cheers. Swliv (talk) 03:21, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Vivaan Shah. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ricky Van Veen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page If I Were You. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:57, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Asaad Al Eidani

[edit]

Hi Mr. Mwino2777, Asaad Al Eidani (Governor of Basrah) He meets the Wikipedia criteria so this article can not be deleted .. I have been in Wikipedia since 2016 and I know everything about Wikipedia. So do you allow removal (quick delete template) - Thanks--IamIRAQI (talk) 20:46, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Agree that he is notable. But references do not indicate what the article says; no evidence he was in prison; no evidence he fled to Iran. (Did you get him mixed up with his pedecessor?) We need Enlish references for the facts of the article.Mwinog2777 (talk) 00:25, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again,This is Enlish references (http://en.economiciraq.com/2017/10/15/basra-47-million-will-be-allocated-to-the-education-and-health-sectors/ ) , (http://en.economiciraq.com/2017/10/13/basra-uses-oil-companies-to-finance-their-service-projects/) , (https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/blog/2017/9/4/everything-you-need-to-know-about-basras-new-governor) , (https://www.arashabibkareem.com/en/the-secretary-general-congratulates-sheikh-asad-al-eidani-on-his-election-as-governor-of-basra/) & (http://www.dinarupdates.com/showthread.php?53849-Iraqi-businessman-governor-of-Basra) - Thanks--IamIRAQI (talk) 01:39, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I reviewed all the references; not a word about his prison; no mention of death sentence, living in Iran or taking part in rebellion; i recommend you rewrite the article using those references and only using info in those articles and then referencing appropriately. The article which purports to tell everythingh about him has none of the information you put into the article. The place for the references is in the article, not on my talk page; and references should be relevant to the subject immendiately discussed. I think you can make an excellent stub article.Mwinog2777 (talk) 07:03, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Are you trying and failing to type "#19"? I don't see any sort of official agreement there. I do see "Also, good faith edits should not be summarily reverted without PRIOR discussion". Re Ed Murray, are you following me around? How creepy. Stop it. Fishlandia (talk) 18:43, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you read carefully 4 admins agreed that it was not reasonable; there was no further discussion. I am not following you around. I raised issue of good faith edits taken out without discussion; violation of wiki protocol is so severe that it can be done. Yes, it was 19, i didn't bother to count and i estimated, thanx for pointing out. I was only one in discussion who accepted the category as valid for individual; 4 admins disagreed; there was consensus. the issue is resolved; read discussion in detail please; nobody agreed with me. i am following the category, not following you. i try to avoid creepiness. Article creation in sandbox

[edit]

Hi, I noticed your recent creation of article Suzanne Mettler, and also that you developed it in your sandbox prior to moving the content to the article page. Although this procedure isn't considered wrong, it's not the ideal either, because part of the article's page history is lost. I'd suggest that, for your future articles, you start a separate draft page for each one (in this case, that would be User:Mwinog2777/Suzanne Mettler). That way, when you consider the article ready for the Main namespace, you just move it to the proper title, and the whole article development history will be kept intact. A tag has been placed on File:Durnstein2.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs

[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Zuni Maud, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Zuni Maud, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:01, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Laura Cooper), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. References

[edit]
Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations. (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them.) WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which has a button "Cite" click on it
  2. Then click on "Automatic" or "Manual"
  3. For Manual: Choose the most appropriate template and fill in the details, then click "Insert"
  4. For Automatic: Paste the URL or PMID/PMC and click "Generate" and if the article is available on PubMed Central, Citoid will populate a citation which can be inserted by clicking "Insert"

We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Katie Benner requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Katie_Benner. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Low quality. Can be replaced with files here

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Project HOPE

[edit]

Hello Mwinog2777,

The section you have added to Project_HOPE on CIA involvement relied on unreliable sources and I have removed it, do you happen to have better ones? --SapphireSwirl (talk) 02:43, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"worked hand in hand with the cia" Mwinog2777

and https://www.marxists.org/history/etol/newspape/world-outlook/v05n11-feb-17-1967-wo.pdf

mine was a good faith edit, and should not have been removed without a consensus on the talk page of the article. (talk) 18:13, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for the reply! I'm excited to work with such a seasoned editor on improving the sourcing for this. I've left comments on the talk page of the article. SapphireSwirl (talk) 20:51, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This happens to be a very interesting topic. To this day the CIA will not make public information on the extent of its involvement early in the cold war with the hearts and minds campaign; neither will they make a full accounting of the organizations that acted as fronts for their covert activities. So, we are and will forever be left with no smoking gun. The best we have is what we have; it will never be better. All of the references can be challenged at some level. Clearly, from well-done academic papers (tho not meeting full wiki criteria as references),CIA involvement was strongly adumbrated. And, the newspaper reference made it straight out. Even with its leftist bias, wiki does not rule-out using such. BTW, peruse the newspaper and you will see that it would meet wiki criteria. There was a period in American history when there was intellectual Marxist literature and reporting.
Wiki guideline: "Sometimes non-neutral sources are the best possible sources for supporting information about the different viewpoints held on a subject. Common sources of bias include political, financial, religious, philosophical, or other beliefs. Although a source may be biased, it may be reliable in the specific context." Specifically, the newspaper supports the adumbrations of the academic papers; In-text attribution is appropriate.
I propose we close paragraph 1 with: Project HOPE has been criticized for these conflicts of interests, including CIA ties reported by Marxist writer C.D. Cavanagh.[1] These problems have been noted to be "a cautionary tale for development organizations seeking mass appeal now." (Followed by the reference of Logue, Teresa (May, 2013).
