Thanks for your message regarding the most recent page that I added. I made some small edits to Wikipedia before, but this is the first time I am included in an editors' discussion. Is the "talk" the only way Wikipedia editors or authors communicate? (Sorry about newbie question - will try to read more of the guidelines.) Vlado1 (talk) 14:07, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Bigsworth chart board

[edit]

Hello, Msrasnw, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Samf4u, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Bigsworth chart board, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bigsworth chart board.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Samf4u}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Joy of Painting, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Alizarin crimson. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Notice

The article Robert Wade (scholar) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Notice

The article List of people on the postage stamps of Iceland has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:LISTN. A seemingly random list, missing many entries (even the very first one, from 1902, Christian IX). Abandoned since its inception in 2010, with hardly anyone interested in it (25 views in 90 days). Sourced to a general catalogue and the homepage of a stamp dealer for some reason.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Arno Tausch for deletion all over again

Springer, one of the world's leading publishers, now lists 70 items by this author, and rumours have it that they prepare a Festschrift with contributions by Hartmut Elsenhans, Manfred Steger and many others for 2023

Austrian political observer (talk) 05:45, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Dear Austrian political observer, I think a big part of the problem is the over-pomotional approach that has been taken tothe WP page on Arno Tausch, the defence of the page by some in the AFDs and the spreading cites to him throughout WP. I suspect this is due to a lack of appreciation of the problem of conflict of interest editing. For example if you yourself have any connections with Arno Tausch that it could be wise to refrain from editing WP in a way that could be seen to be promotional and one should make some mention of any COI that could arise. This is only my view of the WP approach. Best wishes (Msrasnw (talk) 12:12, 8 July 2022 (UTC))[reply]

Answer: I can only repeat: == https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arno_Tausch == This delition was carried out although a major cleanup of the article was finished before - all of a sudden during the debate - a user simply draftified the article, which is now in a good shape. All this is really frustrating: you re-write an article, and - here it disappears! The article now would have met all wikipedia standards, and there are dozens, and dozens of worse articles on social scientists all around the present Encyclopedia.

The author featured in the article, Arno Tausch, has now 70 entries at SpringerLink[1], and Open Syllabus, which is a database with nine million English-language syllabi from 140 countries and which was founded at The American Assembly, a public policy institute associated with Columbia University [2] lists 59 global classes using materials by Tausch on their syllabi. [3] The decision to delete the article is really absurd Austrian political observer (talk) 21:33, 13 July 2022 (UTC) Austrian political observer (talk) 21:41, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Royal Navy State Funeral Gun Carriage

[edit]

On 19 September 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Royal Navy State Funeral Gun Carriage, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a coffin carriage used in British state funerals (pictured) has been pulled by sailors since an incident at Queen Victoria's funeral in 1901? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Royal Navy State Funeral Gun Carriage. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Royal Navy State Funeral Gun Carriage), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Coordinates

[edit]

I notice you added extremely long decimal coordinates to the Kalinago Territory article. Google has taken to providing 16-digit coordinates in what is believed to be a copyright trap scheme. That level of precision is in the 1/100th of a micrometer range. WP:OPCOORD calls for always rounding or truncating coordinates (tldr: use DD°MM'SS" or D.dddd° for everything). Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Louis le Broquey Eire Stamp1977.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Louis le Broquey Eire Stamp1977.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vanjagenije (talk) 23:36, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
