Removal of Expansion At First Use (EAFU) in Cable Modem article
Thank you for removing the duplicate QoS that I added to the Cable Modem article. I should have checked the rest of the article.
However, I was wondering why you removed the expansion of CDLP and DOCSIS. Now, nowhere in the article does it explain that CDLP means "Cable Data Link Protocol" and "DOCSIS" means "Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification"
My goal is to expand each acronym on first use "term (acronym)" and if the term or acronym has it's own article, then I'll link to it, staying aware of DUPLINK.
Currently, the linking on this page is varied:
PSTN (telephone network) - Acronym and term linked together - (this is the example I used)
Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) - term and acronym as separate links
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) - only the term linked
UDP only the acronym linked, and it is not expanded to "User Datagram Protocol" anywhere in the article.
I prefer linking both the term and the acronym, as in [[ the article | term (acronym) ]] , so that both link to the informative article, which could have been named for the term, or the acronym.
So, I'd like to clean up and expand the article, but wanted to first get your input on which form to use, and also a heads up that on what I'm planning so we can agree and not get into a revert fest on this. Although, I sometimes don't know why I care for consistency, since there is nothing to prevent someone from diving in and totally changing it all next week. Let me know what you think when you get a chance. • Bobsd • (talk) 18:29, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

You suggest a merge to International Organization of Migration- what content do you think should be merged? AusLondonder (talk) 00:10, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- I would think into the Structure section but I have just reviewed the single reference at Mission of the International Organisation for Migration, London and find a verification issue. There is a UK branch of the organization but I can't find anything specifically about London. ~Kvng (talk) 13:07, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

Random-access memory edit
Hello, I got a notification that you reversed my edit of the RAM page. Why is that? I deleted some duplicate text, which seems like a no-brainer, as well as condensed some references by using reference names to shrink the reference list at the end. You didn't include any reason for doing so, which seems silly given that my edit actually simplifies things and eliminated redundant information.
You didn't include any reason for doing so, which seems silly given that my edit actually simplifies things and eliminated redundant information.
(see how stupid that looks?)
Appreciate some clarification, like adding notes on why you undid my revision. Thanks. Jonjames1986 (talk) 17:07, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Jonjames1986: Strange that I did not include an edit summary with that. Your edit also did not include a summary so there's symmetry at least.
- I guess I was moving too fast this morning. I see now what you've done with the computerhistory1966 reference but the diffs are a bit difficult to read for these sorts of changes so I forgive myself.
- You also deleted "While it offered higher speeds than magnetic-core memory, bipolar DRAM could not compete with the lower price of the then dominant magnetic-core memory." from the body. I see that same phrase is in the lead. That's not necessarily a problem as the lead is supposed to summarize the body but if we're going to delete it from somewhere it should probably be deleted from the lead. A better solution might be to shorten, not delete, the statement in the lead. ~Kvng (talk) 18:18, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Skaters' articles
Hello, Kvng,
I see that you removed PROD tags from two articles about skating champions. There have been dozens of similar articles on junior champions in skating that have been PROD'd over the last two weeks and I don't see much difference between those that were deleted and the ones you "saved". We have an editor who is literally cleaning house of these articles, most of which were created 10 or 15 years ago where the skaters competed as teenagers (or younger) and then retired. I don't have a good understanding of notability in this area so I've just been trusting their judgment since they obviously have reviewed most of the articles in this category to select these to PROD. I get a little nervous when we are deleting so many articles in one particular category but, not knowing much about the sport, I also can't put in much a defense about individual articles.
But I thought I'd check in because these are unlikely to be the last that are PROD'd. Maybe you have already looked at the deleted ones, I don't know! Liz Read! Talk! 17:24, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- I've trusted Bgsu98 on this up to now. Today, motivated by so many prods, I finally got around to reading WP:NSKATE and deprodded some that appeared to meet the standard. It's possible I've made mistakes because I also know little about skating. I've asked for help at WP Skating. ~Kvng (talk) 18:32, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Medal placement at the junior level or bronze/silver medals at the senior-level national championships explicitly do not meet the requirements of WP:NSKATE. Only one article that you deprodded should have been; as I stated, the ISU biography for Charlotte Clements did not show her gold medals at the British National Championships. All of the others you deprodded have gone straight to AFD. I stand by my work. Bgsu98 (Talk) 19:17, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Question from Doolanshole (18:21, 8 May 2024)
Hello. Thanks for being a Wikipedia mentor. I am brand new to suggesting, editing, and improving Wiki articles. My main focus is on an article about a nonprofit I work for. I want to be transparent and helpful. I don't know where to begin. --Doolanshole (talk) 18:21, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Doolanshole it would be best to start by working on articles where you don't have a conflict of interest (COI). If you are determined to work on the article about your employer, please carefully read WP:COI first. Normally paid editors (your salary from the nonprofit makes you a paid editor even if they've not specifically assigned you the task of working on this article) do not directly edit articles where they have a COI and instead request help from other editors to review and implement requested changes. ~Kvng (talk) 03:06, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- This is very helpful and makes sense. I will carefully read the information about COI. I will request help from other editors regarding articles where I have a COI. I'm very thankful for the mentorship you are providing. 63.249.79.9 (talk) 21:21, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

I was wondering where the merge proposal for Electoral history of Joel Anderson you made reference to the other day was? Or was your deprod itself the proposal? Iseult Δx parlez moi 00:09, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Iseult, I'm suggesting that in a normal deletion discussion, the possibility of doing this merge as an WP:ATD would likely come up. I have not proposed the merge and it's not going to happen unless someone proposes it or just goes ahead and does it WP:BOLDLY ~Kvng (talk) 03:09, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if I follow. You're proposing that hypothetically, a merge is possible as a result of a deletion discussion; also, you're not willing to do said merge and have not proposed it either; this is why you declined my PROD? Iseult Δx parlez moi 21:37, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

PRODs
Hello, Kvng,
While I often agree with some of your De-PRODding choices, I wish you had not untagged those articles on marginal beauty pageants. We have way too many subpar articles on the project about obscure beauty competitions. Bri has been doing a good job PRODding many of them over the years. So, I was actually looking forward to getting rid of a few tonight. Oh, well, on to even articles on even more obscure, defunct softwear. Liz Read! Talk! 04:33, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Liz, I would have WP:BLARed those but that's a couple more steps and there have been a lot of prods lined up lately and I have finite time. I also did not have time to reach out to Bri about this WP:BLAR suggestion. Also lack of time. Sorry. ~Kvng (talk) 19:37, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

PROD question
Hi Kvng!
Recently you de-PRODded an article I tagged, and I was wondering whether there was something you saw that I had missed when I was looking at it which would suggest it should stay on WP. I'm still very new in the AfD/PROD/CSD space so any tips on what to look out for would be wonderful. And of course if it was simply that it's an accredited school then fair enough!
Thanks and happy editing to you! StartGrammarTime (talk) 03:10, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- @StartGrammarTime see WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES #2. The reason I gave for deprod was
accredited college may be notable
. I'm not saying it is notable but that an AFD discussion is warranted to find out. Please be sure to search for evidence of notability WP:BEFORE proceeding to WP:AFD with this. ~Kvng (talk) 14:26, 5 June 2024 (UTC)- Thanks Kvng, I appreciate the response! I had already completed a BEFORE in the hopes I could expand the article instead of PROD/AfD, but there are basically no sources available that I could find. I'll see how it goes at AfD! Composite video
Hello, just wondering why did you nuke modern updated info and real world context info form the page? Harry munday (talk) 15:45, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Harry munday, I assume your referring to this edit. There are a lot of different changes there. What specifically do you consider modern update info and real world context? ~Kvng (talk) 16:13, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yes thats the one, well firstly SDI is the commerical sucessor that was industry wide adopted as it replaced the end point hardware for physical coax runs in studios/high end CCTV and distrobution systems all camaras ditched CVBS in the 2000s to 2010s and output SDI now ware you would have had that on a BNC.
- The image asset showing a 4fsc signal frame and with and without colour carrier decoded is a real world context example people wont visually see outside of well broadcast CRTs with H/V shift.
- Hard sampling number values were provided (910x525 NTSC & 1135x625 PAL) also little things like "SMPTE 1" Type-C" thats the full production and lookup name of the format as there was A/B/C versions.
- There is a hard diffrance between live genrated and composite images and decoded from a modulated source from a VCR for example.
- I'll add my edits bback with more citaitions if need be, as this is well known hardware level info on datasheets, its annoying when I see real-world example data being stripped out, there is not a page on 4fsc so context has been lost to the information within wikipedia. Harry munday (talk) 09:46, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- Can we take these one at a time?
- SDI does come after composite but between there is s-video and component and probably some other stuff I have forgotten or am not aware of. Identifying an unambiguous successor seems difficult. ~Kvng (talk) 00:59, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- Sure.
- CVBS in commercial use (as that's the key here, consumer market is separate) was based around single coaxial cable runs, S-Video was not adopted in commercial broadcast use, while yes it was in the consumer realm and prosumer use from the late 1980s but only for the high end recorder/camcorder market but it required 2 cable lines for Y & C as the 4pin DIN connector it uses is non-locking without being physically broken out, it was a separate format alongside Composite. In simple terms the late 90s got messy in terms of kit for prosumer realm with new standards only been adopted for better play-out so a Sony PVM for example will have a S-Video/Component/CVBS inputs, but no output feeds form studio cameras were component or S-Video until very late CCU boxes or HD era.
- So S-Video outside of play out and digital systems it was not commonly used or standardized for broadcasting/commercial use on equipment outside of dubbing daily's as far as I know on formats like Umatic SP, likewise component it also had a connector called D-Terminal in Japan. but we creep into the whole 1035i/HDTV subject that goes outside of the whole point of from camera to monitor/recorder baseline systems for SD video signals.
- SDI is and was the direct successor for replacing end-point hardware, that was its whole point in being developed and adopted, no need to replace audio lines, that was already affixed standards wise since BAL XLR and unBAL RCA, and no need to replace or 2/3x your cable runs as SDI directly ties into existing runs, so from a real world adoption and cost point of view, it really is the unambiguous in commercial use and widespread application since the 90s.
- This point is abundantly made clear with all later high end commercial CRTs from the 90s to video monitors today being SDI based its all based around that single cable run mentality with locking connectors, and that's alongside HDMI also being popular but still a non-locking connector, virtually banned in commercial broadcasting ware you can't have disconnections from a snag of a cable or a OB truck moving over a speed bump.
- SCART was the connector successor in consumer use in Europe, it was the analog to HDMI for littoral example, but commercially BNC based SDI/CVBS to this day endures as a de facto, its funny really 1970s to 1980s kit used BNC but it was the consumer market that introduced RCA and SCART being used for video and it practically never got adopted in commercial hardware outside of edge cases.
- If you ask anyone in broadcast industry who started or learned from the 90s to 2010 era its purely cost and application logical path, like how PAL/NTSC died with the HD switchover leaving 1080i25 / 1080i29.97 / 720p59.94 as the global standards with the same rec709 colour space, commercial world liked fixed and unchaining standards, this is fairly clear even in [1]Charles Poynton's works basically the bible writer of standards any engineer or competent director/operator will own a copy of as its full-scope on this subject matter. Harry munday (talk) 19:30, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Harry munday where do you get the idea that the Composite video article is or should be commercially focused? ~Kvng (talk) 18:44, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
- I've reverted your reinstatement of your changes per WP:BRD while we discuss this. ~Kvng (talk) 18:48, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
- As its a commercialised 1950s standard that was adopted pre-consumer video device era, that's literally its origin.
- Commercially focused is not the whole point, that's just its origin of purpose before becoming so ubiquitous in consumer applications.
- It's mass global adoption was driven by commercial application in broadcast use from the 1950s to the end of the 2000s, live feed cameras and the common CRT originally and by the time of the consumer VTR (such as EIAJ) it trickled down as the go to input/output interface signal standard as consumer TV sets went from just having a demodulator pack to having video inputs directly, as it was a commercialised signal standard internally in-use for everything already in the video world you can see the logic of just a bit of extra hardware to bypass that de-modualtor with a added connector as its already baseband ready for displaying is why it just worked. Harry munday (talk) 23:32, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Harry munday you agreed we could take these points one at a time and I'm trying to get to the bottom of your assertion that SDI was the successor to composite. There were other signal formats between the two but you jump to SDI because you claim the others were not used commercially. The article considers commercial and consumer applications of composite and from a consumer POV, clearly SDI is not the successor. If we're taking this broader perspective of applications, I'm not sure we can identify a clear successor and the infobox prior to your changes did not identify one and I believe that's the way it should stay. ~Kvng (talk) 14:12, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- I came into this with 2 assumptions, we are talking about video world (not monitor/pc world which is entirely different specs) and hardware used within it for video signal transportation.
- (BNC was the most common connector standard before RCA consumer adoption in the later 80s, so that should be in the info box either way, BNC was used before RCA and after.)
- Are we going off of global adopted standards of signal interconnects for dedicated video equipment?
- Are we going off of what was on more consumer video devices standards or connectors wise?
- Are we talking about an analogue successor in common use or a digital one? (if so within what timeframe)
- Are we talking about an hardware successor in feature set?
- SDI is the clear choice technologically as it came before Component & HDMI, I get there is a technical argument that S-Video witch was a split signal version of Composite sold on and for prosumer kit. Here's the things though SDI carried both 4fsc streams and 4:2:2 10-bit component SD over the same grade of cable, so the whole analogue composite signal digitally sampled or a digitised SD signal (SMPTE_259M) in layman's terms, it also was the first to carry HD standards for video (not the first for PC monitors but that's a different market & standards), its the standard on most dedicated video cameras and camcorders of equivalent 1980s to 1990s abbilitys & controls and hardware features (your 700~1k USD camcorder today), carrying Audio/Video and or Timecode on a plug and play secure mechanically coax line simple.
- Now from a soul consumer perspective, at least in the current digital era we have HDMI on the low end and SDI on the higher end, but these are found together on the prosumer and top end equipment today and HDMI only is found on smaller devices, but on your higher end palm carried dedicated video orientated camcorder will have SDI and HDMI like the Sony PXW-X70 from 2014 for example and the same configuration is still sold today in the PXW-Z90 version with updated internals.
- (There is a big hole here, that unless you use cameras its not thought about, it's "clean HDMI" means a device outputs a standard pure video feed, ready for direct monitoring and or recording, without any on-screen display elements, this did not happen for a lot of cameras until 2014-2015 HDMI was a plug in and playback recorded files tool only, for a good few years, today it does clean and even full 12-bit RAW streams on higher end kit not just 4:2:2 8-bit or 10-bit so it has cached up but was lacking even timecode until 2010/2011, ware as SDI had it from the start just like composite had VITC Timecode on broadcast and SVHS camcorders/decks etc in the 1980s)
- It's perspective relative, I think the analogue successor is S-Video/Component in common use but those are only found on camaras of the CCD-CMOS digital era, but commercial/digital switchover to replace already existing devices firstly was SDI, then in the 2000s HDMI in consumer applications and prosumer HD/HDV use became popular but only in the later 2010s did composite get dropped (via breakout cables) from prosumer devices.
- So the reasonable compromise taking a day to think about this would be "analogue successors S-Video & Component" and then another row "digital successors SDI & HDMI" if we are covering all our bases.
- But it all loops back to but its a 2 conductor coax cable standard what else is a digital replacement or equivalent? there is nothing but SDI.
- (there is also a whole licencing debate, HDMI is not a free nor truly open standard (not that china manufacturers care), but SDI was intended to be like composite anyone with the correct hardware fab access and technical docs can instantly use it, commercially without red tape, you or I at cost could fabricate a SDI based product and sell it within 72 hours in the west without issue.) Harry munday (talk) 22:00, 7 June 2024 (UTC)
- I do think we need to cover all our bases because we don't have separate articles for the different worlds where composite video is used. I am satisfied with your proposal:
So the reasonable compromise taking a day to think about this would be "analogue successors S-Video & Component" and then another row "digital successors SDI & HDMI" if we are covering all our bases.
It's not perfect but it is good. Ideally we'd have found a reliable source that laid this out. Also ideally this is something that would be explained in the History section of the article if there were one and indeed we can create one. - What in your changes do you want to look at next? For that I suggest we continue our discussion at Talk:Composite video so that other editors are more likely to participate and so that future editors can more easily find this. ~Kvng (talk) 14:04, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- Great to hear we agree on a solution to the infobox situation.
- I'll continue this on the talk page there then. Harry munday (talk) 20:44, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

Hello! I’ve been citing lots of documents for a number of articles recently, and I’ve discovered that you can specify the page number next to the citation (for example: “chicken is good when cooked[2]:10-12”. Is there a way to do that through mobile or PC in visual edit without using source editing? --Samoiamo (talk) 12:38, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

- @Samoiamo The rp template is just placed immediately after the ref in the source editor, so in the visual editor you need only place the cursor immediately after the citation, then add the template however you prefer, either through the header insert menu, or by typing "{{rp" WelpThatWorked (talk) 14:08, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

Random access memory
I'm curious why you reverted an edit I made on April 25 on the Random access memory article. I named some references and eliminated duplicate text. Is there a reason you think we need the text "While it offered higher speeds than magnetic-core memory, bipolar DRAM could not compete with the lower price of the then dominant magnetic-core memory.[1]" twice? Including duplicate sentences seems sloppy, not encyclopedic. Jonjames1986 (talk) 13:30, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from Propagandalf21 (09:07, 1 July 2024)
Hello mentor! As a writer, I am mentioned in wikipedia but I would like to add some references. Is is allowed to add elements about me on wikipedia? --Propagandalf21 (talk) 09:07, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Propagandalf21, direct editing an article about yourself is largely discouraged, see WP:COI and WP:AUTOBIO. If you propose some changes on the talk page of the article in question, I can help make the changes, see WP:EDITREQ. ~Kvng (talk) 13:35, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
Yuna Kim assessment
Hi Kvng, I know that you're not very active in editing articles about figure skating, but you seem like a helpful person, and to be honest, we're getting a litte desperate now. Currently, there's an A-class assessment at Wikipedia:WikiProject Figure Skating/Assessment/Yuna Kim. We have two reviewers and we need a third. Would you mind going over there and consider reviewing the bio? We'd actually like to have someone who, while they may not be knowledgeable about the sport, knows their WP editing stuff. I saw your post at the Figure Skating WikiProject talk page and thought you'd be a good person to ask. Please! ;) Best, Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:20, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- Kvng, would you mind responding to this query, please? If you can't, that's okay; I would just like a response. If you can't, could you recommend someone who could. Thanks. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 03:47, 5 July 2024 (UTC)

Your edits on NTSC
While I did not revert your edits in NTSC, I believe the reversions were proper. Your edits appeared to only change some links, and the link text you used resulted in redirects. The link texts that existed/now exist properly match the Wiki article titles. Myndex talk 05:42, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- To add: I see your initial edit summary was "unpipe links via script" You may want to examine your script, as the end result was that properly formatted direct links to Wiki article titles (with a pipe connecting the inline article text when different) became re-directs, which is undesirable. Thank you for reading. Myndex talk 04:31, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Myndex, redirects are not a problem, see WP:NOTBROKEN. Piped links can create a maintenance issue and WP:ASTONISH. The script I'm using is User:Nardog/Unpipe. If you have general issues with this clean, consider posting something at the associated talk page there. Sometimes I do additional work manually on links after running the script so we can't blame the script for all offenses. In any case, I won't argue or revert as I don't consider this a big issue. ~Kvng (talk) 21:38, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Kvng, thank you I understand. I was only relating why I assume the other editor did the reverts (it was not me). What you say does make sense, I don’t hold a strong position either way, though I was under the impression that redirects and disambiguation pages were something to avoid? Perhaps my misunderstanding, is it just disambiguation to be avoided and not redirects then? Thank you for clarifying. Myndex talk 04:43, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- And to add: one reason that redirects can be a problem in articles relating to color science is the mass of terminology that looks/sounds very similar despite having different meanings, and the potential for redirects to go to an inappropriate article. To be clear I am not saying that was happening in the instant case, just a general concern. Myndex talk 04:45, 16 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from Aishaedit (20:42, 8 August 2024)
Hey there, I am to create an artist page for Faisal Malik who is a theater artist from Pakistan own the Wikipedia page for his organization "Thespianz Foundation". The problem is that, there is an already created page for Faisal Malik who is an Indian artist. Now both are the artists but this "Faisal Malik" who's page I am I intending to create is also a well-known person of the country and have more than 50 news sources endorsing his name and his work. Can you please help me how I can create his page which must be unique and separated from the another page with the same name? --Aishaedit (talk) 20:42, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Aishaedit, this is a WP:DISAMBIGUATION issue. I would suggest starting by using Faisal Malik (Pakistani actor) as the title for your new article. Once both articles exist and can be compared, we can determine if there is a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and adjust titles accordingly if necessary. ~Kvng (talk) 20:52, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response. However, how can I create Faisal Malik (Pakistani American Artist) as he has moved to the United States recently. Aishaedit (talk) 21:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Aishaedit, I've turned it into a red link above. Click on it and you will see some options for starting the article. As a new editor, your options are limited. You may want to consider learning more about working on Wikipedia by making improvements to existing articles for a while before creating a new article. Creating a new article is a more advanced and contentious activity and it's a steep learning curve with some hazards that tend to disappoint inexperienced editors. ~Kvng (talk) 14:21, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- I understand your suggestion. Could you please share a new link for creating the page "Faisal Malik (Pakistani American Artist)".
- I'd highly appreciate it. Aishaedit (talk) 14:45, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Danners430. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, British Rail Class 378, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Danners430 (talk) 19:24, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Danners430 I know WP:BURDEN and all that but I was hoping NeoJade could extend a bit of grace to fellow editors and first tag stuff they believe should be deleted in case someone wants to discuss, suggests an alternative or is otherwise interested and able to improve the problems. WP:NODEADLINES. ~Kvng (talk) 19:59, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- Well perhaps the request should be made on the talk page, so that once the content is fully sourced it can be added as such… like you say, there's no rush to add it, so no harm in waiting til the sources are found. Danners430 (talk) 20:02, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- The ability to revert edits and re-add information with sufficient sources exists. If you find substantial sources (which I tried to find and couldn't) to prove that the unit does exist and is of the name alleged, then go for it, but otherwise its adding false/not notable information, that is more worthy of one of the plently of fan-sites, not Wikipedia. See WP:NOOR and WP:NOTFANSITE.
- We have way too much of people just randomly adding unit numbers with names that not even fansites can prove, its just easier to- and in wikipedia policy- to have editors who are adding facts, cite and prove that its valid and notable enough to be on here, than to have potentially false information on here for potentially years, as we have had before I went on a little cleanup, with, previously, whole articles tagged over the lack of sourced information editors have added over the years. NeoJade Talk/Contribs 02:58, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- And yes as much as there are "No deadlines". The deadline for misinformation or unverifiable facts is now. NeoJade Talk/Contribs 03:06, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- OK, request firmly denied. Happy editing. ~Kvng (talk) 13:56, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

Squid
hello, I want to know how to search for pages under a certain topic. I am trying to find pages for species of squid that don't exist, but I don't know how I would find them all without having to go through every family and genus existing. Sevenstxrsquid (talk) 22:49, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Sevenstxrsquid: I probably just know enough to get you started. Three things that may help you: categories, navigation templates and Wikidata.
- You can start at Squid and at the very bottom, start exploring Category:Squid.
- Also near the very bottom are navigation templates {{Edible molluscs}} and {{Commercial fish topics}}
- Right below that is {{taxonbar}} that lets you access the taxonomy Wikidata.
- If that doesn't lead you to where you're trying to get, I suggest you make an inquiry at the reference desk. Good luck! ~Kvng (talk) 16:00, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

- @Obasdemmie do you have an example of something with color that is similar to what you want to do? ~Kvng (talk) 03:02, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
Question from Schieksportsinc (02:12, 6 October 2024)
Hello! I am trying to update the powerlifting page with more accurate, credible and up to date sources and it is not working. --Schieksportsinc (talk) 02:12, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Schieksportsinc your changes are being reverted by other editors because your changes do not improve the article. I have reverted your most recent edits to Powerlifting. A specific issue here is that you're adding links to what appears to be your own website. Please read WP:COI and refrain from making any more of these sorts of edits or you may find yourself WP:BLOCKed, ~Kvng (talk) 03:08, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello,
- These are the most accurate and up to date articles. I believe that this does improve the article. Forhisglorypodcast (talk) 03:12, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- Who is @Forhisglorypodcast. With few exceptions, we expect each person to have a single account. See WP:SOCK. ~Kvng (talk) 03:15, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Schieksportsinc it is also not permitted to use a company name as your Wikipedia user name, see WP:CORPNAME. Probably best to abandon this one and start over on a better foot. ~Kvng (talk) 03:13, 6 October 2024 (UTC)

Question from Alexiabens (07:02, 8 October 2024)
Hi ! I dont find the page i wrote about the french twins --Alexiabens (talk) 07:02, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Alexiabens I'm going to need more than this to go on if I'm going to help you. ~Kvng (talk) 13:47, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- I wrote an article about Les French Twins, magicians, and about Markobi the magician too. But I can't find the articles anymore.

- @Alexiabens, It looks like you found it: Draft:The French Twins ~Kvng (talk) 21:04, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, thanks. How to publish it ? I think i finished the job ;) and i did it well Alexiabens (talk) 21:20, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Alexiabens, It was declined once then you added another no-so-reliable source and queued it up for review again. I predict it will be declined again shortly. You need to find some better sources. If none can be found, this may not be notable enough to be a suitable topic for Wikipedia. ~Kvng (talk) 21:32, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- Can you help me ? The sources I put are reliable, I am sure about it. Alexiabens (talk) 21:36, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Alexiabens, The most recent one you added ([4]) appears to be some sort of inclusive directory or user-generated content. Do you claim this is WP:RELIABLE? Why? ~Kvng (talk) 21:42, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- It's a very famous website called "l'officiel des spectacles" , "The official of entertainment".
- It's a very famous website about shows in whole France. All the informations from this website are not generated by me AT ALL. Alexiabens (talk) 22:07, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- I've reviewed the sources and posted a report at Draft_talk:The_French_Twins#Sources. The reviewer was right to decline the draft and would be right to decline it again despite your recent addition. You have one potentially good source. We need to see two or three of this caliber to establish notability for the subject. ~Kvng (talk) 14:13, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

Question from Trevor Lea (14:38, 13 October 2024)
Hello,
I want to add a paragraph to the Wiki entry about Ibotenic Acid. I spent 3 years working with the compound during my Ph.D research (back in the last century!). The present Wiki entry makes no reference to the important effects of Ibotenic Acid in invertebrate muscle and nerve, e.g. insects, crustacea, etc. and the discovery of glutamate-gated chloride ion channels, which are absent in vertebrates. I'll be adding some references.
What's the best way to start? --Trevor Lea (talk) 14:38, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
