Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello Kencf0618/Archive 1, welcome to Wikipedia!

I noticed nobody had said hi yet... Hi!

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

You might like some of these links and tips:

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, -- Alf melmac 14:59, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the Welcome!

I've been at this for a few weeks now; mostly I clean-up as I go along and edit for style. I've noticed kids using a couple of articles as forums for their graffiti. Considering how quickly the pages get reverted, it's akin to burst-transmission of libel, LOL!

That sounds like our wiki :) I spend quite a bit of time sorting out vandalism and vandals so I do know exactly what you mean. --Alf melmac 15:53, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Anglicanism and the Anglican Communion

Hello! I noticed that you have identified yourself as an Anglican, and so I thought that you may be interested in checking out a new WikiProject - WikiProject Anglicanism. Please consider signing up and participating in this collaborative effort to improve and expand articles related to Anglicanism and the Anglican Communion! Cheers! Usama Bin Laden and the concept of filibustering

I agree that the distinction is close, but UBL fails to pass a few critical tests to be considered a filibuster: he does not wage war for the purpose of taking territory or exploiting the wealth of his targets, and his operations are not expeditionary in nature. (Perhaps this idea should be better expanded upon in the entry itself.) I can see the argument in terms of the fact that what he and the rest of the Wahabbis (sp?) really have in mind, at the end of the day, is the expansion of the scope and power of the Islamic world, but I don't really think that's enough - it amounts to aggressive proselytization and a religious war at worst; something quite different from filibustering.

I can agree to the reinsertion of the passage in question if these points are made; comparing and contrasting UBL to historical filibusters rather than simply proclaiming him to be one of their number, if you will. What do you think?

HiramShadraski 02:53, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

I'd have to admit that while there's some overlap between the two modes of irregular warfare (21st-century terrorism and 19th-century military filibustering), the differences are more germane. These would probably best be addressed in the article on irregular warfare. Kencf 01:30, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

AD Vid-Notes

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article AD Vid-Notes, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free media (Image:LustSimonBlackburn.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:LustSimonBlackburn.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:51, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Idaho caucus

If you read the Statesman article, you'll see that the claim was that the Ada County caucus had the largest site. That's a pretty trivial claim, and the sort that local pride is prone to make without backup, so I deleted it again. No ill-will against the fine folks of Idaho intended! --Orange Mike | Talk 15:29, 29 January 2008 (UTC) (who knows that Wisconsin has a pretty good potato industry too)

We have the largest caucus site because we have the most participants. I'll wait on Super Tuesday's figures. kencf0618 (talk) 03:21, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
8,290 voters made for the largest caucus in the U.S. on Super Tuesday 2008. (Technically two caucuses were held at Qwest Arena for Congressional Districts 1 and 2, but the latter would still be the largest caucus on the union). If anyone had a larger caucus Super Tuesday, I haven't found it. kencf0618 (talk) 15:22, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Not to put too fine a point on it, CD2 in Ada County had 5,215 voters caucus if you want to stick with the lower number. kencf0618 (talk) 04:43, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:IndoorAdaCountyCaucuses2008.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:IndoorAdaCountyCaucus2008.jpg. The copy called Image:IndoorAdaCountyCaucus2008.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. A tag has been placed on Image:HooverHighIowaCaucus2008.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:HooverHighIowaCaucus2008.gif|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Golden ratio, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. AfD nomination of Baracky

I have nominated Baracky, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Baracky. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. -- Suntag 03:06, 25 October 2008 (UTC) -- Suntag 03:06, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Baracky

A tag has been placed on Baracky requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Spam in Liberty News

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Liberty News, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Liberty News is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Liberty News, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Appalling case of Original Research in heavily viewed article.

Please refrain from introducing nonsense into 2009 swine flu outbreak or any other articles. "Octagonal structure" of their genome is Original Research, since the word "octagonal" has never been used to describe influenza. Large numbers of people are reading this article, and translating it into other languages. Your "contribution" is harmful, and if you do something like it again I shall begin whatever it takes to get you banned from editing such articles. Resurr Section (talk) 22:20, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm contacting User:Resurr Section about Wikipedia:GOODFAITH and Wikipedia:CIVIL. While his/her comment on your edit was correct in that it was a violation of original research, I don't think the edit justified the severity of the response. aremisasling (talk) 14:48, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Thank you. It was an honest mistake on my part -I'd misread some of the science in the Orthomyxoviridae article. kencf0618 (talk) 21:21, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Little Mistake

That boy in the United States who died after 23 months of life was not a United States citizen. His parents brought him to Texas from Mexico to get medical treatment, so therefore, it doesn't count as a United States death. Please let whoever put down 1 death in the United States down know that so the problem can be fixed. Bob.--76.224.125.143 (talk) 23:06, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Notability of A(H1N1) Deaths

Perhaps you don't take it upon yourself to decide what is notable (this is a subjective issue) when it comes to reported deaths that have official references. Because this is a pandemic timeline, there is interest by many to see the progression of deaths in certain countries. You have been busy when it comes to deleting posts which do not have citations or references, but you have to look into the bigger picture when it comes to posts that have references. Otherwise we should delete posts regarding the USA or UK vacinations, pig zoonosis, school closures in Iraq, clinical trials in China, savvy. I will reinsert the India and perhaps Hong Kong deaths to the timeline later this weekend. Roman888 (talk) 04:33, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Fair enough. My main concern is that the cumulative deaths would just keep dribbling in... By this stage of the pandemic it better suits the global H1N1 timeline for the number of deaths to be reported in terms of orders of magnitude, but YMMV. And India does have its own H1N1 article for a more specific focus. kencf0618 (talk)

Fair use rationale for File:Lefavour photo sm.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Lefavour photo sm.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hammersoft (talk) 21:38, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Lefavour photo sm.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Lefavour photo sm.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hammersoft (talk) 21:38, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Not first time that street protests had toppled the leader of an Arab country

I have removed the assertion you put in 2010-2011 Tunisian protests that it is the first time an Arab leader has been removed by a popular uprising. I know it is well cited; I have personally come across many pieces in the British media citing the "fact". It is also wrong. If you want to have a discussion so we verify the information I would be happy to. I have already had two references in the talk page that Sudan had two such uprising before.Karouri (talk) 14:18, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

I stand corrected. At first I thought that the Sudanese protests were a marginal case and not salient, but I glanced at the Wall Street Journal today and it agrees with you and not with me! All you have to do to discover its provenance is to left click on it. The image was made by a Tunisian citizen, and it illustrates the French Wikipedia article on the protests. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mediajihad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Nomination of One-Eyed Doll for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article One-Eyed Doll is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/One-Eyed Doll until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Inks.LWC (talk) 01:42, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Conflict of interest

As the co-owner of the gallery in which the artwork is displayed, as well as the artist of the work, you have a clear conflict of interest in regard to promoting your image. I suggest that you read both WP:COI and WP:ADVERTISING to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's policies in this regard, and adjust your editing accordingly.

Also, in regard to your "bold" editing, please read WP:BRD, about the "Bold, Revert, Discuss" cycle. In this instance, you were Bold and added your image, I Reverted your edit, and the next step is to Discuss. You do not get to re-revert, which is the first step into edit-warring. Please leave the article in the state it was in before you added the image, and after you're more familiar with our COI and promotional policies, we can discuss the quality of the image. Thanks, Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:20, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

First, I am neither. Secondly, throughout my Wikipedia career I've almost always reverted once and then discussed, given that I give my reasoning on my reversion. That said, BRD is the best practice. kencf0618 (talk) 22:00, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Hello, Kencf0618. You have new messages at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2011-06-04/DIY#Discussion.

There is a matter of perhaps multiple copyright violations among the images you uploaded. Please read the information I've posted there and take care of the matter immediately, as the WMF takes copyright violations quite seriously. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:23, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Fine. Since WMF takes it seriously, they can take care of it. Problem solved. Then again, the derivative DIY work might very well fall into the public domain. I'll have to talk to the art gallery's co-owner (of whom I am not one) about this. Stay tuned. kencf0618 (talk) 22:56, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Since you've chosen to blow off the copyright violation, I've nominated both images for deletion on Commons, where I note that you have a history of uploading copyvio images.

As for your speculation, no. Found items are generally not copyrighted, but once they're taken and exhibited as art, copyright extends to them: as soon as a contemporary Duchamp signs "R. Mutt" to a urinal, it's a piece of art and covered by copyright law. If you took a picture of the urinal before the artist got to it, you own the copyright to the image; if you take a picture after the artist uses it, adopts it, alters it, displays it, whatever, your image is a derivative work and you do not own the copyright on it, nor can you upload it to Commons. Beyond My Ken (talk) 23:59, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm not blowing anything off, I just needed to get some more data, but in any case I'll be more careful about the provenance of whatever I upload to Wikimedia Commons in the future. kencf0618 (talk) 07:11, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
"Fine. Since WMF takes it seriously, they can take care of it. Problem solved." Beyond My Ken (talk) 08:05, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
I've held off deleting the photographs myself because I might be able to get the rights to the art in question. If I can't I'll pull the switch. Same difference. kencf0618 (talk) 20:32, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
I've nominated the images for deletion myself, inasmuch as I've begun negotiations with the rights-holder. I'd prefer not let things hang fire any longer, so I'll upload them again if and only if I attain the rights. kencf0618 (talk) 22:37, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Souns good. Just know that if you do obtain the rights, you need to let the OTRS people know before you upload that even though you aren't the artist, you are the owner of the copyright. Go to Commons:OTRS and follow the instructions there. Beyond My Ken (talk) 23:51, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:IdahoStateSenatorKateKelly.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:IdahoStateSenatorKateKelly.jpg.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 15:18, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Your use of images

I thought this issue had already been addressed, but you continue to add your own images to articles where other, superior images already exist or where more images are simply not needed. Please be more careful when adding images, particularly if they are your own. Thanks. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 16:07, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

It's a matter of aesthetics and editing philosophy. De gustibus non est disputandum. YMMV. I throw stuff onto Wikipedia, and either it sticks, or it doesn't. If it doesn't stick, no big whoop. kencf0618 (talk) 23:11, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
If that is your attitude, please stop re-adding images if they don't stick the first time. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 03:04, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
I stop after two tries, after having presented a case. kencf0618 (talk) 03:15, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps you should review WP:BOLD. Your "two tries" method is not very respectful of the opinions of other editors and seems likely to produce conflicts. You have already run into problems with individual editors, a third opinion at DIY, and a mediation cabal case involving your images, yet your comment to me when inserying another of your images at Pole dance was "Presentthe matter for mediation if you'd like". I don't have time for your bullshit at the moment, but I will consider taking this to conflict resolution when I do. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 14:19, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
I thought the second image (CapitolParkPoleDance4632.jpg) might be better, and I see that no one's taken it down as of this writing, so the matter might be moot. kencf0618 (talk) 01:36, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

possible vandalism

Hi Ken. It was the word cum that I was looking at. It triggered a vandalism alert. I couldn't really tell if it was the bad word or not so I reverted it. If it really means something else then please revert it back to the way you had it. Cheers! I'll leave this on your talk page as well.Jobberone (talk) 03:04, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Oh Jesus... It's "cum" from the Latin "cumulative"! In the film the weapon starts as a sonic device but becomes a magnetic disruptor. kencf0618 (talk) 03:10, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Please accept my apology, Ken. I'm just trying to do a job and there are instances where we can't tell for sure. Please, just revert it back to what you wish. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.Jobberone (talk) 03:26, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:HFWD.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:HFWD.jpg, which you've sourced to Kenneth Freeman. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:59, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

I started improving the articles in Category:Women state legislators in Idaho, and have done what I do at Senator LeFavour's with what was there, including: removing the youtube video, which I sourced to independent coverage that hosts it, and added the best quote in the reference; removing cites to search results and blogs, including hers - 1 personal site (her campaign site) per Wikipedia:External links guidelines (I would think it's linked from her site, but didn't check); reformatted all dates to correspond to her birthdate - one style per article; we link to ballotpedia as a resource, but not a reference; election statistics should be as specific as possible, not randomly rounded by third parties; Senator should only appear in the infobox, the intro, other people, and headlines/quotes - readers don't forget during a reading of the article; section headings should not contain things which will become dated, as they may be linked from other articles - I checked before changing it but the Disco ball photo link surprised me. I may go back and try to clear some 'citation needed' and unsourced bits after finishing the category. With your stated Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, you should be careful about further changes, and should consider using the talk page and help systems. Dru of Id (talk) 13:54, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Mohammed Ansar page proposed for deletion

I thought you should be made aware of the following discussion - Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Mohammed_Ansar - as you were the originator of the article about Ansar. It would be particularly useful if you knew of any independent, significant, secondary sources which would attest to Ansar's notability. Q1445 (talk) 18:28, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

I have been following the discussion (which has been very interesting) and suffice to say I am satisfied that the criteria for the subject's notability or lack thereof are being duly considered. To date I know of no such sources, so I'm just letting the process play out. kencf0618 (talk) 22:08, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Did you feel that was a reasonable outcome? Avenger786 (talk) 18:52, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
Yes. It was very procedural, and fully vetted —I was especially pleased that British Muslims who know of Mohammed Ansar's standing in the UK had weighed in. The man himself told me that the discussion page had exploded, and of course found the discussion quite interesting on several levels, although some of the finer points of Wiki-fu had him, as he would say, "stroking his beard." Merging some of the content into interfaith dialogue would be fine. kencf0618 (talk) 22:49, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

RE: Bleeding Love/2013 Russian Meteor Event

I wasn't referring to Russian freedom of press (as far as I know it is irrelevant here), I was referring to Russian freedom of panorama, with Syco Music and J Records copyrights's violated by Wikipedia's copyright license with that YouTube video (ELNEVER, CS/CL and LINKVIO). Also, I don't understand why an article, whose main topic is "The world is ending and Russians 'don't give a fuck'" ("... while we would never stereotype one nationality or race of people, after watching dozens of these videos, we have deduced that Russian people just don't give a fuck."), is a reliable reference and belongs to Wikipedia. If the video is popular now, it still trivial information that this song was played in that radio station at the moment of the explosion, unless multiple non-trivial reliable references back up that information. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 23:33, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I took "FoP" to mean "Freedom of the Press," not "Freedom of Panorama." In any case Panoramafreiheit applies to photography, not audio recordings, and notably neither Syco Music nor J Records has asserted copyright and pulled the meteor clip from YouTube, so your copyright violation concerns are moot. kencf0618 (talk) 10:19, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Operation Spade

Hello Kencf0618
I was unaware of your page Operation Spade when I started 2013 International child pornography investigation about 5 hours later, though I worked on it for about 4 hours before 'creating' it.

I even tried to see if a page on the current child porno. bust already existed, but it didn't come up!

I know how it is when you spend several hours on a page, then someone just re-directs it without even telling the author! My page is a lot more 'advanced' than yours so I hope you won't mind too much if I re-direct it to the other page? :-\

I intended to create an Op. Spade' re-direct anyway. That seems to be the name of the Canadian part, the Australian part was 'Operation Thunderer'. Or is 'Spade' the entire world-wide operation? Regards, 220 of Borg 07:00, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Your page was 853 bytes, mine was 4,502 bytes. I have therefore done the redirect. As I said this happened to me with the Carterton hot air balloon crash, I got 'pipped' by 2 hours! Merrily working away, then suddenly I got re-directed with no advice or or notice! :-(
The title is a bit unwieldy, but seems to be in line with some other articles on this distasteful subject, ie. 2007 international child pornography investigation (Some need a bit of work actually) . If 'Operation Spade' turns out to be the overall operation name, then it will have to be moved to that. Regards, 220 of Borg 07:56, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
No problem -your article is more substantial. We'll deal with nomenclature later. kencf0618 (talk) 09:12, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I'll take a look at your sources and text to see if there's anything I haven't got yet. 220 of Borg 11:52, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
I've put in the BBC citations again. A Richmond, Virginia man was sentenced in April "as a part of Operation Spade," which seems to be the omnibus term for this international law enforcement operation (as a synecdoche, anyway), so it's been public for quite a while. I've also folded in the various WikiProjects into Operation Delego. I had no idea that there was a Pedophilia Article Watch! kencf0618 (talk) 17:16, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on One4Kids requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Hi! :D

Hello sir Kencfo618. I saw that you created the MERS-CoV Timeline and I think you are doing a great job. However, I suggest that since there are few information on it yet, I think it must be best to userfy (WP:USERFY) it first? So that you can consolidate the information and sort other things before publishing it. Don't worry, if you need any help for it I will gladly volunteer. Also, just wondering if you could help me expand each of the country sections of 2012 Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus outbreak... --AR E N Z O Y 1 6At a l k 10:42, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

That's a good thought, but there actually is enough information to pull from two or three articles. kencf0618 (talk) 00:14, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Oh no. What I meant was there are still few information included on the article you are creating, not that there are few information on the web. That is why I am suggesting to userfy it first. :) --AR E N Z O Y 1 6At a l k 03:55, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Probably the best course so it's not added to piecemeal. Userfy away! kencf0618 (talk) 04:02, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
The article is now userfied. It can be reached at User:Kencf0618/MERS-CoV outbreak timeline. If you need help with the expansion, you can always message me at my talkpage. :)--AR E N Z O Y 1 6At a l k 04:12, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
O.K., thanks. Wasn't sure how to do that! I'll mess with it for a while now. kencf0618 (talk) 04:16, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

It might be better to title it, "List of Middle East respiratory syndrome outbreaks", rather than timeline, as that seems to be a fork of what is there now. The article on the 2012 outbreak can actually be contained to the original outbreak, explaining the first appearance, the history, etc., which I can sort. Your article could then list everything from the start to present. SW3 5DL (talk) 01:50, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

A timeline-qua-timeline presents information in a distinctive and useful format. I'm using the 2009 flu pandemic timeline (which I've worked a great deal on) as a template here; the steady accretion of events has a power all its own. kencf0618 (talk) 05:59, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
Okay, so perhaps you can just move all the timeline that is in the outbreak article now. I'd like to get that article to address the outbreak itself as it should. I wrote 1993 Four Corners hantavirus outbreak and several other outbreak articles. The current state of the MERS outbreak article with the timeline there is actually keeping me from addressing the original outbreak. So your coming along with your timeline is hugely helpful. SW3 5DL (talk) 15:08, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Stop adding it to the GamerGate article, already. It is not relevant at the top of the article, the massive caption duplicates references on the page, and it mischaracterizes the debate.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 23:00, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Spinitron

The article Spinitron has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Extremely specialized software program, of little significance outside this one small customer group

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Information icon Hello, I'm Avono. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Gamergate controversy, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Twitter is not an acceptable source. Avono (talk) 16:33, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Quadcopter, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Drone and Secret Service. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I ask that you please not add the bit about being ineligible to run to this article. First of all, The Washington Post source provided is from a blog. It is not a reliable source for factual information. Second of all, one only has to be 35 years old to serve as president. Anyone can run. In fact, a few individuals younger than 35 have run for president previously. Most recently, Peta Lindsay was only 27 when she ran for president in 2012 as the nominee of the Party for Socialism and Liberation. She appeared on the presidential ballot in Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington (see official FEC results). Certain states, such as Colorado, require candidates to meet the Constitutional requirements to serve before appearing on the ballot. Thus, the PSL listed stand-in candidate Gloria La Riva. The Socialist Workers Party previously nominated candidates not qualified to serve to protest the over-35 requirement (http://www.independentpoliticalreport.com/2011/11/party-for-socialism-and-liberation-chooses-presidential-ticket/). --William S. I'll come up with a better citation. Thanks! kencf0618 (talk)
Good luck finding a reliable source to back a factually inaccurate statement.--William S. Saturn (talk) 17:18, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
I had amended it to reflect the campaigning/serving distinction; I just need a non-blog citation. The U.S. Constitution, perhaps? kencf0618 (talk) 18:23, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
That would be Original Research. You'd need a source that directly references the rapper. Without that I don't think it could be included at this time.--William S. Saturn (talk) 18:36, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Tianjin Blast

Unfortunately, 2015 Tianjin explosion existed almost 10 hours before you created the Tianjin Blast page. I have re-directed your page there. 220 of Borg 11:51, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. The article didn't crop up, and it's a suitable redirect. kencf0618 (talk) 21:47, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

Signing with PGP

In asymmetric encryption, you do not sign with the public key like you suggest at [1]. You use the private key to sign. If you used the public key, anyone could make the signature, and it is worthless. What do you suggest that we do here? The article cannot be left in this state. --Ysangkok (talk) 11:43, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

I see that it's been taken care of. kencf0618 (talk) 20:38, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
