NE England articles

Dear Keith, I was pleased to see that you had been doing some damage limitation here. I am not sure if you've seen but there's a lot of the same kind of editing here - I can't tell if the IP and named editor are the same but they seem at least to have a similar agenda, which I have to admit I don't understand. It may be good faith but it is confusing me a bit and if you were able to have a look I'd be very grateful. Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 11:41, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Ah yes, I see you are already all over this. Thanks!! DBaK (talk) 11:46, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. I started out trying to accommodate the changes but as there was so much infobox damage I ended-up just reverting out the changes. Unsure if the map of they have inserted on some of the articles is useful or not so have left that for the moment may be you could look at Redcar and Cleveland and see what you think. Keith D (talk) 11:47, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
Erkkk! Thanks. I will try to have a look when I have some time. Cheers DBaK (talk) 12:18, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

I am confused !

Please explain why you have overuled my edit to the Myleene Klass page . https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Myleene_Klass&oldid=659123880&diff=prev

You have shown sections where Hear'Say are mentioned BUT these are from thw Myleene Klass wiki page.

MY point was that she has NOT mentioned her time or any connection to Hear'Say on HER profile page on the Classic FM website !!

Sadly , it appears that you have unfortunatly either misread or misunderstood my point.

I await your explanation.

Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zincubus (talkcontribs) 14:18, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

I removed it because it is unreferenced as you cannot reference the absence of a particular thing. Also the lead is supposed to summarise the important content of the article not raise points that are not covered in the article and are not that important to the person in question. Keith D (talk) 17:30, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Anything beginning "interestingly enough" is quite likely not to belong in an encyclopaedia. Whose voice is it in? DBaK (talk) 20:50, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Why not just edit my extremely valid point and put it in a more suitable place of your choice on the page ?

It is a fact as it does not mention anything about Hear'Say on Myleene's Classic FM webpage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.177.112.22 (talk) 18:26, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

I could have moved it to a more suitable point in the article but it would still be unreferenced so is not valid. Also see comment by DBaK above that says this is not really encyclopaedic in nature so should not be included. Keith D (talk) 18:25, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Well surely its relevant as she is clearly ashamed of her involvement in Hear'Say ...and its a fact as it is not mentioned in her Classic FM profile . They had the best selling single in HISTORY at the time ... Would it help if I added a link to the webpage in question? Also ,how can I make the point moreacceptable to you.? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.147.118.18 (talk) 19:37, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

May be you could raise on the article talk page and see what other say about its inclusion. Keith D (talk) 20:22, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

How do I locate that page please ....I am quickly losing the will to live . How things ever get put on WIki in the first place amazes me now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.147.118.18 (talk) 18:57, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) You want Talk:Myleene Klass. Just go there, or while you are on the Myleene Klass article itself, click the tab that says "Talk". Once you are on the Talk page you can click the "+" or maybe "new section" (or something) and off you go.. Give it a header, type your text, add "~~~~" to sign it, and Bob's your uncle. Don't despair - we all started somewhere. DBaK (talk) 20:11, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Support request with team editing experiment project

Dear tech ambassadors, instead of spamming the Village Pump of each Wikipedia about my tiny project proposal for researching team editing (see here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IdeaLab/Research_team_editing), I have decided to leave to your own discretion if the matter is relevant enough to inform a wider audience already. I would appreciate if you could appraise if the Wikipedia community you are more familiar with could have interest in testing group editing "on their own grounds" and with their own guidance. In a nutshell: it consists in editing pages as a group instead of as an individual. This social experiment might involve redefining some aspects of the workflow we are all used to, with the hope of creating a more friendly and collaborative environment since editing under a group umbrella creates less social exposure than traditional "individual editing". I send you this message also as a proof that the Inspire Campaign is already gearing up. As said I would appreciate of *you* just a comment on the talk page/endorsement of my project noting your general perception about the idea. Nothing else. Your contribution helps to shape the future! (which I hope it will be very bright, with colors, and Wikipedia everywhere) Regards from User:Micru on meta.

Harrogate Museums

Hi Keith D, I have a Yorkshire-related topic that might interest you? I'm working with @Jonathan Fenny:, a volunteer at Harrogate Museums. In addition to working on the Egyptological collections, Jonathan has been working on the article for the Royal Pump Room, Harrogate in his sandbox. I wondered whether you might like to help Jonathan copy-edit the article and re-integrate into the main version? I posted on the articles talk page but no one has taken us up. I'm obviously more than happy to have a go myself but am doing my best to build partnerships between new Wikipedians working in Yorkshire's museums and experienced editors such as yourself. It would be really good to have neutral eyes on the article too. If there's anything else related to the GLAMwiki Yorkshire Network Project that you'd like to discuss that would be great too! Are there museum collections that could bolster your editing work? Cheers, PatHadley (talk) 12:55, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for letting me know, because of being away it will take some time to catch-up, before my next break over next bank holiday so may not be able to devote much time to the article before mid-June. I have had a quick copy-edit of the sandbox version for obvious things like punctuation, spelling, capitalisation which is a start. Keith D (talk) 18:06, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
Many thanks! Much appreciated. No rush and let me know if there's anything else I can do. PatHadley (talk) 21:59, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Formatting error

Hi Keith, could you take a look at this page formatting error. I am not too sure how to correct it:- City_of_Bradford#Council. Richard Harvey (talk) 20:55, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

I am assuming you mean the Council make up table. The figures are incorrect to the Council web site so I have changed them as well as fixing what I think you are referring to. Keith D (talk) 21:27, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
I am referring to the 'Political party make-up of Bradford Council' table. For some odd reason it is extending beyond the width of the page and thus reducing the article text to half width. It is more noticable when viewed on an iPad or tablet. Richard Harvey (talk) 22:02, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
I fixed the cells in the table but unsure how to reduce the width of the table, each of the cells need to be reduced somehow. Keith D (talk) 22:07, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I will have to take anither look as it may be a simple coding issue. Richard Harvey (talk) 22:25, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

Help request?

Keith

Could you please stop undoing my edits on my wiki page and the PlusNet wiki page, I am for some bizarre reason being stalked by someone who is determined to defame me by misrepresenting my past. The last edit I made was repairing a defamatory post which was actually picked up as such by the Wikibot!

If you want to chat further my contact details are easily found online.

Thanks in advance.

List of English districts by population

For a few weeks now List of English districts by population has been slowly wrecked by (presumably) one person. Just wondering if you could help address this? Argovian (talk) 22:49, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Not really got much input on this one - but it looks a total unreferenced mess. Need to find some referenced data to build the article from. May be a revert to a referenced version would be a start, but that would be 2001 data. Suggest having a word with Eldumpo who sorted out the List of urban areas in the United Kingdom which is a similar list they may have some pointers. Keith D (talk) 23:08, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
Argovian: I BOLDly reverted to a revision on 18th May to reduce the crap. It can be re-updated with some populations if needed. Rcsprinter123 (utter) @ 09:10, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
Cheers guys. I hate it when this sort of thing happens to an article, especially an important one linked from every district article! Argovian (talk) 17:01, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Bots

You are receiving this message because a technical change may affect a bot, gadget, or user script you have been using. The breaking change involves API calls. This change has been planned for two years. The WMF will start making this change on 30 June 2015. A partial list of affected bots can be seen here: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2015-June/081931.html This includes all bots that are using pywikibot compat. Some of these bots have already been fixed. However, if you write user scripts or operate a bot that uses the API, then you should check your code, to make sure that it will not break.

What, exactly, is breaking? The "default continuation mode" for action=query requests to api.php will be changing to be easier for new coders to use correctly. To find out whether your script or bot may be affected, then search the source code (including any frameworks or libraries) for the string "query-continue". If that is not present, then the script or bot is not affected. In a few cases, the code will be present but not used. In that case, the script or bot will continue working.

This change will be part of 1.26wmf12. It will be deployed to test wikis (including mediawiki.org) on 30 June, to non-Wikipedias (such as Wiktionary) on 1 July, and to all Wikipedias on 2 July 2015.

If your bot or script is receiving the warning about this upcoming change (as seen at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages ), it's time to fix your code!

Either of the above solutions may be tested immediately, you'll know it works because you stop seeing the warning.

Do you need help with your own bot or script? Ask questions in e-mail on the mediawiki-api or wikitech-l mailing lists. Volunteers at m:Tech or w:en:WP:Village pump (technical) or w:en:Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard may also be able to help you.

Are you using someone else's gadgets or user scripts? Most scripts are not affected. To find out if a script you use needs to be updated, then post a note at the discussion page for the gadget or the talk page of the user who originally made the script. On Brighton and Hove how would one update the template about political control? It just contains a random string. The council is now a minority Labour administration. DuncanHill (talk) 22:53, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

Oranjblud

Hi, just wondering why you blocked Oranjblud when they've not edited in 2½ years? --Redrose64 (talk) 20:23, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

I did that as it is another incarnation of User:Prof.Haddock, previous ones have already been blocked such as User:Imgaril, User:Sf5xeplus, User:Shortfatlad etc. Keith D (talk) 22:53, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
Apart from Prof.Haddock, they're all blocked for abusing multiple accounts, but there's nothing on their user pages (such as a {{sock}} template) that links them. I think that the sockmaster is HappyVR (talk · contribs). --Redrose64 (talk) 23:36, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
I just added the Oranjblud block as noticed the rest had previously been blocked & put on {{blocked user}} as per the others I looked at. May be all of them need a better tag adding to tie them together. I had not come across HappyVR (talk · contribs). Keith D (talk) 00:28, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

I see you reverted me for telling the truth.

The manor house is a hotel. Woodhall Spa Manor - Luxury on the Links.

Not that someone like you could ever afford to stay there which is why, instead of assuming WP:GF you reverted me, treating me like a liar.

You didn't even check? So lowbrow.

Never mind precious. Thousands of people like are self-indentured to this site. Doing all this free effort while your god-like Jimbo turns that into millions and travels first class around the globe!  ;-)

I can't say I am worth that much but it's clear I stay at some beautiful hotels that you'll never hear about or probably afford!

This just leaves the final question: now you know you're wrong will you actually revert to my information?

Or just leave the citation note?

I'll peruse from time to time to see if you do because I know that you won't. As this is only fifth or sixth edit here, it's quite true that this site is run for ego and not for knowledge or information. 81.129.123.9 (talk) 21:42, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

When I restored the fact tag I was not questioning the fact that it is a hotel but that it was converted in 2013, there needs to be something that indicates that date for the conversion process. Keith D (talk) 22:09, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

I see you put Jahraldo-martin in again. It's an obsession isn't it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.100.172.38 (talk) 17:10, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Harvid

Please be careful when altering dates - this edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Port_of_Hull&type=revision&diff=671889679&oldid=671870359

altered the Template:harvid date as well - which means the template:sfn references don't work. I have not preference either way for the short references .. (correction) turns out that reference hasn't been used yet - so nothing to fix. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xiiophen (talkcontribs) 19:47, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
