Question from Workee Inc. (10:19, 23 June 2022)
hello Justiyaya, we are working on article about Workee describing our history, funding and product. Do you have any recommendations how to make it happen in the best way?
Thanks! --Workee Inc. (talk) 10:19, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Workee Inc., welcome to Wikipedia! Before you start (doing really anything here), you have to complete a few steps (the first two are necessary, the rest are strongly recommended).
- Change your username via the steps on your talk page. This is essential per our username policy, you will likely be banned if you don't.
- Declare a conflict of interest to your subject following the steps on WP:FCOI. This is required per policy and Wikimedia's terms of use.
- Once you have completed the above steps, verify that your company meets our notability requirements, no amount of editing can fix a lack of notability. Non-notable subjects will not be accepted as articles. In your case WP:NCORP provides pretty good guidance on determining notability. Going through this carefully will potentially save you a lot of time.
- Get a basic understanding on how Wikipedia works, familiarizing yourself with our basic policies will be useful when writing an article, some useful links may include:
- Write and submit a draft at WP:AFC, no other process is possible if you have a conflict of interest. Please note that your review may take a while, we are all volunteers here so please be patient.
- I hope this helped, feel free to post any clarifying questions below or ask another question using your homepage. Justiyaya 10:43, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Justina,
- thanks!
- So..., how to change the name? :)I can't see this option in Preferences settings. Could you guide me through, please? Workee Inc. (talk) 16:17, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- And to follow up, how to Declare conflict of interest? Where should I put Workee? Everything I can see is a piece of code. Workee Inc. (talk) 16:20, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Workee Inc. Alright so first skim through our username policy. Then, making sure your new name is in line with our policies, submit a request using Special:GlobalRenameRequest. To declare a financial conflict of interest add to your userpage a statement signifying that you are being paid to edit Wikipedia (something like Template:Paid would suffice) and it is recommended that you read through this guideline. Justiyaya 16:30, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- hello Justina,
- thanks for the information. We've completed Step 1 and 2. Have a question about step 3: we went through criterias and ready to move forward. In the article we didn't find how to submit materials to verify the Company. Or it would be verified once the article has been submitted? Ihor Bauman (talk) 10:27, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Ihor Bauman If you believe your company meets the criteria, progress directly to step 4, you do not need to submit anything to verify. Justiyaya 11:28, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- Also step 4 is optional, you can skip it but it might end up wasting you a lot of time if you do skip. Please make extra sure that your company meets our notability requirements, most users fail to do so which leads to a lot of wasted time too. Justiyaya 11:32, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hello there!
- We're ready with our article. However, we have struggle on uploading the logo to it. Links to the guide in error messages are wrong. Could you please help with that?
- This is what guide is saying: We could not determine whether this file is suitable for Wikimedia Commons. Please only upload photos that you took yourself with your camera, or see what else is acceptable (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Licensing). See the guide (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:First_steps) to make sure the file is acceptable and learn how to upload it on Wikimedia Commons.
- Guide pages are redirecting us to the Main page. Ihor Bauman (talk) 21:09, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Ihor Bauman Where is your article? It's best to post it as a draft first for reviewers to look at, you should use the Article wizard to start a draft. As for the image, it really depends, it would be much simpler to do it after the article has been already uploaded. Justiyaya 06:22, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- hello there.
- alright, we just send article. please check Ihor Bauman (talk) 08:27, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Ihor Bauman I've added a submit box at the top of the page, when you are ready, press the submit button and a reviewer will come look at it. Please note at the article's current state, there isn't enough sources to demonstrate notability, see WP:NCORP (mentioned above). It is likely that the draft will be declined if submitted. - hello there
- we've submitted an article yesterday! Did you get it? please let me know. thanks. Ihor Ihor Bauman (talk) 08:06, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

- @Ihor Bauman I have declined the draft for not meeting our notability guidelines. Please review WP:NCORP (specifically WP:ORGCRIT) with "A company, corporation, organization, group, product, or service is presumed notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject." before resubmitting (see also multiple mentions above). Please message me if you have any questions regarding this. Justiyaya 09:38, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hey there,
- we've submitted couple of secondary sources that are independent. How many of them you need? Ihor Bauman (talk) 09:41, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Ihor Bauman You haven't edited since submitting the draft, so I can't see the sources. Generally 3-4 is preferred. Justiyaya 11:38, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Question from Euphoria2203 on Help:Getting started (18:18, 30 June 2022)
how to write good and effective short articles? --Euphoria2203 (talk) 18:18, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Euphoria2203, welcome to Wikipedia! Writing new articles can be one of the hardest things for new editors to do, if you are unsure, go through our introduction then complete a few tasks first at the task center, then try writing your first article. If you really want to write a new article right away, please read through WP:1st. Happy editing and feel free to leave additional questions here. Justiyaya 03:39, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

Growth team newsletter #21
Welcome to the twenty-first newsletter from the Growth team!
New project: Positive reinforcement
- The Growth team started a new project: Positive reinforcement. We want newcomers to understand there is an interest in regularly editing Wikipedia, and we want to improve new editor retention.
- We asked users from Arabic, Bangla, Czech and French Wikipedia about their feedback. Some people participated at mediawiki.org as well.
- We summarized the initial feedback gathered from these community discussions, along with how we plan to iterate based on that feedback.
- The first Positive Reinforcement idea is a redesign of the impact module: incorporating stats, graphs, and other contribution information. This idea received the widest support, and we plan to start our work based on the design illustrated on the side.
- Please let us know what you think of this project, in any language.
For mentors
- We have worked on two new features, to inform them about the mentorship:
Scaling
- "Add a link" available at more wikis ― Add a link feature has been deployed to more wikis: Catalan Wikipedia, Hebrew Wikipedia, Hindi Wikipedia, Korean Wikipedia, Norwegian Bokmål Wikipedia, Portuguese Wikipedia, Simple English Wikipedia, Swedish Wikipedia, Ukrainian Wikipedia, Abkhazian Wikipedia, Achinese Wikipedia, Adyghe Wikipedia, Afrikaans Wikipedia, Akan Wikipedia, Alemannisch Wikipedia, Amharic Wikipedia, Aragonese Wikipedia, Old English Wikipedia, Syriac Wikipedia, Egyptian Arabic Wikipedia, Asturian Wikipedia, Atikamekw Wikipedia, Avaric Wikipedia, Aymara Wikipedia, Azerbaijani Wikipedia, South Azerbaijani Wikipedia. This is part of the progressive deployment of this tool to more Wikipedias. The communities can configure locally how this feature works.
- "Add an image" available at more wikis ― Add an image feature will be deployed to more wikis: Greek Wikipedia, Indonesian Wikipedia, Polish Wikipedia, Chinese Wikipedia. These communities will be able to configure locally how this feature works. [1]
Suggested edits
- Selecting topics ― We have created an "AND" filter to the list of topics at Special:Homepage. This way, newcomers can decide to select very specific topics ("Transportation" AND "Asia") or to have a broader selection ("Transportation" OR "Asia"). At the moment this feature is tested at pilot wikis.
- Changes for Add a link ― We have built several improvements that came from community discussion and from data analysis. They will be available soon at the wikis.
- Algorithm improvements ― The algorithm now avoids recommending links in sections that usually don't have links and for first names. Also, it now limits each article to only having three link suggestions by default (limited to the highest accuracy suggestions of all the available ones in the article).
- User experience improvements ― We added a confirmation dialog when a user exits out of suggestion mode prior to making changes. We also improved post-edit dialog experience and allow newcomers to browse through task suggestions from the post-edit dialog.
- Community configuration ― We allow communities to set a maximum number of links per article via Special:EditGrowthConfig.
- Future change for Add a link feature ― We will suggest underlinked articles in priority. [2]
- Patrolling suggested edits ― Some users at Arabic Wikipedia, Spanish Wikipedia, and Russian Wikipedia told us that "Add a link" and "Add an image" edits can be challenging to patrol. We are now brainstorming improvements to help address this challenge. We have already some ideas and we started some work to address this challenge. If you have any thoughts to add about the challenges of reviewing these tasks or how we should improve these tasks further, please let us know, in any language.
Community configuration
Communities can configure how the features work, using Special:EditGrowthConfig.
- Communities can set the maximum number of "add an image" suggested tasks a newcomer can complete daily. [3]
- Future change: allow communities to customize the "add a link" quality gate threshold easily, using Special:EditGrowthConfig. [4]

Question from Professional-1970 (06:22, 12 July 2022)
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Hi, I had recently contributed to Lee Kong Chian Medical School based on facts. Yet, my contributions were promptly deleted and the article reverted. Please assist. --Professional-1970 (talk) 06:22, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hello @Professional-1970, welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia's external links policy suggests that external links are generally not allowed in the body of the article. Furthermore, if your only edits in the mainspace are creating links linking to an specific website, it gives the impression of either conflict of interest editing or advertising, both of which are not allowed here. (COI editors should not edit pages directly but instead suggest changes on the talk page) Also pinging reverting editor if they have something to add. Justiyaya 06:43, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Justiyaya, thanks for the explanation given on behalf. I have placed a welcome template with similar issues pointed out on Professional-1970's talkpage. Editor replied but did not ping me and hence I did not follow up. Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 06:55, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

- Hi Justiyaya,
- The CFD simulation performed on LKC School of Medicine was considered very high end engineering, performed by Doctorate holder. There were very few companies in Singapore that could deliver it in 2016. Because of this, it would be nice for the public to know that much effort in term of technology had gone into this building. That's all it means, not for promotional. And my contribution gives credit to where it is due. Simple as that - not advertising.
- Referring to this website:

- 5th picture from the top, left side, it says Singapore LKC School of Medicine.
- The only secondary source available is commercial contract which is protected by NDA thus cannot be disclosed. Professional-1970 (talk) 09:21, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

Question from WilliamMcGarvey2000 (00:41, 13 July 2022)
Hello! I intended to upload an image for a specific wiki article but I've no idea how. I don't really intend to do anything other than add the image, so I'm not sure what to do- or even how to do it. --WilliamMcGarvey2000 (talk) 00:41, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @WilliamMcGarvey2000, Wikipedia's upload wizard might provide some guidance on how to do that. Feel free to post additional questions here. Justiyaya 00:50, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- Appreciated greatly! WilliamMcGarvey2000 (talk) 00:54, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- Um @WilliamMcGarvey2000, I'm quite sure that the image is in the public domain, is the promotional art made when the band was still active? Justiyaya 01:15, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, I believe so. Why, did I upload it incorrectly? I thought I chose the public domain options when adding it. WilliamMcGarvey2000 (talk) 01:20, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- @WilliamMcGarvey2000 Ah yeah you did tag it incorrectly, it's fine though I'll go fix it, do you know when it was first made in terms of year? Justiyaya 01:28, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- It would have been during the 1920s but the specific date is unknown to me, as is the photographer, though I assume it was my great grandfather Ben Seth who was a member of the band. Sorry about the incorrect tagging, appreciate the help. WilliamMcGarvey2000 (talk) 01:35, 13 July 2022 (UTC)

Question from Miriam.profilo (18:46, 18 July 2022)
Hi Justiyaya,
Thanks for being in contact. I am writing an article about a Latin American artist, and my articule was deleted. It was on draft saved, could you please advise me how this can happen? I though I could keep an article in draft for some time until it is finished and published.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon,
Best regards,
Miriam --Miriam.profilo (talk) 18:46, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Miriam.profilo What article are you talking about? The draft in your sandbox likely means that you have a conflict of interest with your subject. You might find Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guide useful. Justiyaya 03:58, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Justiyaya,
- Thanks for your reply.
- I have started an article about an artist, Osvaldo Profilo. Suddenly it was deleted.
- What case would it be a conflict of interest in my case? I am a third person writing about someone else with plenty of source data and material to prove it.
- I would appreciate if you could explain me or help me to identify that conflict of interest you mentioning.
- Best regards,
- Miriam Miriam.profilo (talk) 16:30, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Miriam.profilo Your username suggests that you are related to the subject (correct me if I'm wrong here)? Justiyaya 16:50, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Yes, I am writing about my father. Is there a solution about this? May I have to change my username instead? Like for example I can create a username with my second name Miriam.grisel and remove my last name on it.
- Best regards,
- Miriam Miriam.profilo (talk) 17:16, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Miriam.profilo No change in username is required, but you do have a conflict of interest to the subject based on a personal relationship, you should disclose it by placing
{{UserboxCOI|Osvaldo Profilo}}
on your userpage. What reliable secondary sources do you have regarding the subject? Feel free to post them below and I'll review it. This is to satisfy our notability guidelines, which in most cases requires 2-4 reliable, independent sources providing significant coverage to the subject for an article to be created. See also WP:GNG. Justiyaya 18:03, 19 July 2022 (UTC)- Hi Justiyaya,
- Thanks for your reply.
- The subject I am trying to post is about contributions in Art/Painting made by Osvaldo Profilo as his main career as an artist. He had had plenty of significant awards back home in Argentina, and also internationally like in Spain, for example.
- Sources about this topic are:
- 1. Arte de vanguardia
- 2. Post-impresionismo
- 3. Arte contemporáneo
- 4. Artista plástico
- 5. Personas influentes: Ary Brizzi, Ricardo Carpani, Miguel Angel Vidal.
- 6. Escuela de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredon
- 7. Universidad de las Artes (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
- 8. Exposiciones en Museos Sivori y Palais de Glace
- 9. Arte generativo
- 10. Neoplasticismo
- 11. Referente e inspiración actual: Piet Mondrian
- Also, I have newspapers articles talking about Osvaldo Profilo´s awards and recognition in Art.
- On a final note, the article will be writing in Spanish. Is it ok?
- Best regards,
- Miriam Miriam.profilo (talk) 17:07, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- I cannot review your sources because they are in Spanish and you have not provided any links to the articles, although I'm sure someone who understands Spanish will look at it. I'm not sure what you mean by "article will be writing in Spanish". Sources referenced being in a non-English language is fine, but the article its self has to be in English. If you want to write an article in a language that is not English, you can check out the other versions of Wikipedia and attempt to make an article there. Please read WP:1st, it should contain instructions on writing a new article by creating a draft and submitting it. Justiyaya 17:44, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Miriam.profilo You mentioned below about getting back your writing. Where did you publish the writing? Justiyaya 06:47, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Thanks for your reply. I have founded my article here: https://es.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Especial:Página_inicial&source=userpagetab&namespace=2
- My concern is I don't have a mentor to guide me in that web site Spanish. Here is en.wikipedia.org I believe meaning England? or English version?
- Thanks, Miriam.profilo (talk) 18:03, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- ah okay, please first skim though es:WP:COI, I have zero understanding of Spanish but their guidelines on conflicts of interest might differ. You might be able to get help at es:Wikipedia:Café/Archivo/Ayuda/Actual but I don't know if that is the right venue, please read the top section as if there is a better place to ask, it would probably be linked there as with disclaimers and rules. Good luck Justiyaya 18:35, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

Question from Sheytoon123 (00:12, 21 July 2022)
Hi there! I am very new to Wikipedia and was wondering if I could ask you for some advice on how to navigate discussions and editing. My profile shows you are assigned as my mentor. Please let me know if you're interested. Thanks! --Sheytoon123 (talk) 00:12, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Sheytoon123, welcome to Wikipedia. Help:Introduction might help with getting started, feel free to message me if you have any questions. Justiyaya 06:43, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for the warm welcome @Justiyaya! I will review that section and let you know if anything comes up.
- One question: is it common for a new user to be accused of "sockpuppetry"? I recently created an account to contribute to an area that is in my expertise. But now I'm seeing multiple people questioning if I'm a sock puppet, and to be honest, I didn't even know what that term was until I looked it up. Should I be concerned about that? - @Sheytoon123 If you have not created any additional accounts or edited logged out (disruptively), you should be fine. It is uncommon to be accused of sockpuppetry, but there has been a few coincidences with you and another editor who was blocked while editing in the same area. Don't post on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents (ANI) next time you need help, go to the teahouse instead. The teahouse is generally a friendlier place for beginners. Hopefully this clears things up a bit. Justiyaya 05:15, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Justiyaya I've definitely never created any additional accounts and haven't been disruptive.
- Thanks for the tip, I didn't know about the teahouse. I'll try that. Sheytoon123 (talk) 16:11, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Sheytoon123 Ah okay you should be fine probably, not very familiar with sock puppet investigations, happy editing! Justiyaya 16:21, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

- Hi Aimedis, thanks for posting a question here, writing a new page can be challenging for new users, Wikipedia:your first article might help with that. You can also take a look at the links I've put on your talk page as those provide guidance on some basic policies. Justiyaya 11:28, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: List of tallest buildings in Sejong
Hello Justiyaya. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of List of tallest buildings in Sejong, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Tricky one this. The list is much bigger now than it was 2 years ago, so it's substantially different (there were 4 before). But none of them have their own articles. I think it's different enough to pass CSD, but this probably needs to go back to AFD. Thank you. GedUK 10:29, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Ged UK ah okay, thought most of the arguments in the original AFD still applied mainly being it serving no navigational purpose but yeah probably won't pass CSD when reviewing the criteria again, thanks for telling and reviewing the CSD. Justiyaya 10:53, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's six-of-one, half-a-dozen of the other. Could go either way really, and in those circumstances I'd rather it go for discussion. GedUK 11:36, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
