AOZ Studio moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, AOZ Studio, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP:COI and WP:PAID you should go through the WP:AFC process and have an independent reviewer look at the draft and refrain from moving it to mainspace yourself. [edit]Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:AOZ Studio
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:AOZ Studio, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. [edit]Hello Ising4jesus. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to AOZ Studio, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Ising4jesus. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Ising4jesus|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 17:37, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
No, I have not been paid for, nor do I expect to be paid for this article. Also, I **did** disclose my affiliation with AOZ Studio on my profile. Ising4jesus (talk) 18:56, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
Also, I could not find the button to Contest the "Speedy Deletion" nomination. How can I contest this? Ising4jesus (talk) 19:00, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response, It is not as simple as you think, I'm afraid. You stated that you are employed part time by the organisation. This means that, broadly construed, you receive a benefit from any article about them in Wikipedia; indirectly you receive a benefit. You need to modify your COI declaration as above, please.
- Another editor has already declined the speedy deletion nomination. There is no need for you to act. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 19:41, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
Your draft article, Draft:AOZ Studio
[edit]Hello, Ising4jesus. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "AOZ Studio".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 20:20, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
paid editing again
[edit] As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Ising4jesus, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Ising4jesus|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 07:21, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- You are an employee so you are deemed to be a paid editor, please make the correct disclosure on your user page. Theroadislong (talk) 07:22, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- I was told previously was that I was complying with the mandatory requirements by placing the COI notice on my user profile here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ising4jesus
- Also, at this point, I am just a volunteer for AOZ Studio. Although I have been paid for other work by them in the past, I am not paid by them now.
- In any case the "Paid" template would not apply, since it states that I have been "paid for my contributions to Wikipedia", which is not true.
- (I suppose I should change my disclosure to state that I am now a volunteer for AOZ Studio vs. a part-time employee.)
- It's kind of a moot point anyway, since the draft has been deleted, and I am at a loss as to how to fix it. Ising4jesus (talk) 17:01, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- I've changed my disclosure message so it more accurately describes the *current* state of affairs. Ising4jesus (talk) 17:24, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- Interns and volunteers are usually considered to be paid editors as far as Wikipedia is concerned. Theroadislong (talk) 17:30, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- This truly is not hard to achieve. The text is laid out above, all you need to do is copy it, paste it, fill out the two fields, and you are done with it. And the draft has not been deleted. Even if it is deleted, please just do as you are asked. This is a safeguard for you. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 18:52, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you @Timtrent, but I think you misunderstand. I understand how to insert the "Paid" disclosure, (and have added that on my user page now, per your direction). Do I also need to add that to the draft itself?
- BTW: Will this do? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ising4jesus
- IMO, Wikipedia should provide other templates which would be more appropriate, perhaps "Employee", and "Volunteer", that could be used to indicate a COI without incorrectly stating that the editor was paid for the submission.
- Rather than:
- Paid: UserName, in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, discloses that they have been paid by CompanyName for their contributions to Wikipedia.
- More appropriate alternatives could be:
- Employee: UserName, in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, discloses that they are an employee of CompanyName.
- Volunteer: UserName, in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, discloses that they are a volunteer for CompanyName.
- Now, back to what I am "at a loss" about: What I do not understand is how to correct the page to make it acceptable for publishing. I've received differing opinions about whether I have sufficient references, but the more difficult hurdle is using the "neutral voice". I believe my article is very neutral, and I've compared it to similar articles which *have* been published, that use similar wording, etc., however, when I've attempted to make it more neutral, as requested, some have said it made it seem even more "promotional". It's been quite confusing. Ising4jesus (talk) 14:04, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
- On your first point, yes, Thank you.
- On your second, WP:COIN may be the place to make these suggestions, but the folk at WP:TEAHOUSE will advise you for sure.
- Now, the article: It appears that AOZ Studio is a product and a corporation. As presented, it is is about the product, which makes sense. Referencing is your problem. First look at what we need:
- We require references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS please. See WP:42. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today.
- Those you do not have. YouTube and Medium are not accepted as references. At least one is a 404 error, and one further reference makes no mention of the product. Interviews woth a principal are primary sources unless there is significant editorial as well. Perhaps we have not been clear enough with that is required form a reference before.
- Thus, when someone says, "Your references are insufficient," they referto quality not quantity. Do nt add more references, please. Instead add better references.
- If you feel up to it, start afresh. Read this essay. Start from scratch, create a new draft, abandon this one, and follow the process inside, Start with references. If you can find them then you have the makings of an acceptable draft. If not then you have proved to yourself that the job cannot yet be done. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 22:56, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you! I may have to wait until there are more significant, independent, secondary sources available. Since the AOZ language is new, "significant" coverage is scarce. Most of the "significant" coverage is related to its predecessor, AMOS Professional, which was very popular about 30 years ago, and AOZ is still in beta, so it hasn't been officially released yet (although it should be within a few weeks). Once it is officially released, perhaps some more acceptable sources will become available. I will also take your advice and read the essay, and other links you referenced. I'll also fix that 404 error. The last time I checked, all of the links were good, but the internet changes daily! ;-) So now, I just have two questions:
- 1. Do I need that disclosure in the article as well, as on my User page?
- Also, from your comments, it sounds like I may be able to fix the article. Much of it would still be usable, but would require better quality references, so...
- 2. Would it be OK now to ask for un-deletion, and continue editing the article? Ising4jesus (talk) 13:54, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- On point one, It is customary to deploy {{Connected contributor (paid)}} on the draft or article talk page.
- On point two, Draft:AOZ Studio exists, but has been rejected. While some of the words you might choose to use after finding references etc (per the essay) could well be the same. I suggest, based upon experience, that you start with a blank sheet and create a storyboard from the references you find. Ignore the existing draft.
- The only thing you need to do is to show it passes WP:GNG. You need to write the minimum to show that. Do not seek to create a fully fleshed out article, just a brief article sufficient to show notability. Then walk away after it is successfully in main space and let others expand it, edit it, even ask for it to be deleted. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 15:32, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
