Road to Indy articles

Thanks for all your RTI updates. As a INDYCAR fan and as a RTI fan it’s great. Any chance of a USF 2000 2021 page ? I think that the grid is more populated that Lights !

Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.130.50.183 (talk) 21:46, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Toyota Racing Series

What does no teams this year mean in the Toyota Racing Series? --Falcadore (talk) 01:46, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

If I understood it correctly, every normal year all the teams are sharing their data anyway, and many of the teams are with European involvement. As the COVID situation made this involvement impossible, there were no designated teams this season. H4MCHTR (talk) 07:49, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

F1 calendar change

Hi there. The source I have so far is mostly this twitter thread from Chain Bear: click here to see. It also contains screenshots from other twitter users who are reporting the Russian GP is missing for them. I checked myself but its showing up, so possibly a staged rollout of an update to the site. --CitroenLover (talk) 19:15, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

Interesting, thanks for the link. Don't think it's a source good enough to warrant a change to the wiki page, however. There we should wait until something official comes out. H4MCHTR (talk) 19:18, 23 February 2022 (UTC)

sortable

Why not a sortable version (2021–22 Formula E World Championship) for the Drivers' Championship' table? It has a lot more potential ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:818:DC7F:8B00:D82F:BE38:2B03:86F0 (talk) 15:29, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

Yes, I certainly see the potential benefits of adding a sort function, I just reverted it because I've never seen a sortable standings table in any championship for any season, and a change like that maybe should be discussed on WP:MOTORSPORT, because if a consensus is reached to use sortable tables, they should be implemented project-wide, not just in one single page. Hope this helps! H4MCHTR (talk) 15:33, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

RM EF OPEN

What sort of announcement for the RPM to EF OPEN will we need to add it?

@RxxingAddict: First of all, thanks for moving this discussion to a talk page before it becomes an edit war :) secondly, I don't know if RPM has a website or anything, but seeing that EFO has a news page on its website and also an entry list is published for every round, I would wait until either RPM, formulascout.com or EFO themselves confirm RPM is entering the championship at a specific round, or an entry list says that much. I hope this is nothing you take personally, thank you very much for your understanding! H4MCHTR (talk) 09:54, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
Also sorry about the FIA F3 edit I thought I saw an entry list! RxxingAddict (talk) 11:16, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
No problem, just for your information, the official place where entry lists for F1, F2 and F3 are first posted is the FIA decision documents page, https://www.fia.com/documents/championships/fia-formula-one-world-championship-14/season/season-2022-2005, where you can filter by championship. H4MCHTR (talk) 11:21, 29 June 2022 (UTC)

Cordeel EX

He was never entered into the round so why do we include EX in the standings? RxxingAddict (talk) 17:08, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

@RxxingAddict I agree with the whole entry thing, but we have to respect consensus and consistency, so we handle it like any other time someone was excluded, like Raghunathan in 2019. My guess for a reason would be to show readers the reason for a non-entry was exclusion and not other factors (and also because otherwise EX would never be used in any table, as any exclusion is always for the next event so an excluded driver will never appear on an entry list) H4MCHTR (talk) 17:16, 1 July 2022 (UTC)

Source

Sorry I'm not sure how to add sources properly yet RxxingAddict (talk) 06:25, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

In most cases, it's really easy: when using the visual editor, click on "cite" in the top bar, choose "Automatic" and just paste the link of the source. For normal news articles like from formulascout.com, the citation is then created for you.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask them! H4MCHTR (talk) 09:28, 7 August 2022 (UTC)

Formula

Da Costa is using the same number he used at DS at his new team and Rast used the 33 in 2020 when he raced in FE? So, just saying. RxxingAddict (talk) 10:58, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

I was just thinking about da Costa, yeah. Buemi on the other hand changed his number for the new team. All I was saying is it doesn't seem to be as straight forward as just continuing to use one number and we don't know yet. H4MCHTR (talk) 11:00, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Indy Lights

Just a quick question, is there any more confirmed drivers/teams for 2023? RxxingAddict (talk) 18:36, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

I don't think so, everything on my radar is now already in the draft. H4MCHTR (talk) 18:37, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
Just saying I am on mobile. RxxingAddict (talk) 13:22, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
I see.
If you are using the app, I would start by just copying other citations and changing things like title and URL to match your source.
I understand that it might be complicated to learn at first, but citations are almost the most important thing on Wikipedia, so not using them at all is no solution. H4MCHTR (talk) 13:24, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Ok thanks! RxxingAddict (talk) 18:38, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Frmec

I literally just said where I got the numbers from my source Is right there? RxxingAddict (talk) 17:37, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

That's not a source at all. Give me a source that says PHM Racing will be using #14 and #15 for Bedrin and Dufek in FRMEC in 2023. H4MCHTR (talk) 17:39, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
it’s not that hard to guess as that is the only number they have been using in there racing careers? RxxingAddict (talk) 17:41, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
With that logic, Dufek could also use #7 (as in FRAC 2022) or #13 (as in FRECA 2022). Or why not #19, #41, #77, #78 (all numbers PHM used previously)? Precedent is not a source. H4MCHTR (talk) 17:44, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
The problem is right there in your reply - "guess". Wikipedia is not for guessing, no matter how straightforward it may be. H4MCHTR (talk) 17:46, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

I said dufek had 13 and also all the PHM you listed were not any of Bedrins numbers, just saying. RxxingAddict (talk) 17:49, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

That doesn't change the meaning of my comments, which is there is simply no way to know yet. H4MCHTR (talk) 17:50, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

2023 Tiedeman Trophy moved to draftspace

is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, and right now has none. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 13:00, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

FWS

I have a question regarding an article about Formula Winter Series when shall it be created? RxxingAddict (talk) 10:41, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

Generally a good guideline would be Wikipedia:GNG, so in short, two reliable, secondary sources that talk about the championship. I myself am not too interested in Formula 4, so I'm not too sure how the situation regarding independent sources is.
If you feel like there are enough sources for you to create an article, then feel free to be bold and create it, normally if an article has enough sources it won't be deleted or draftified.
Hope this helps, cheers! H4MCHTR (talk) 13:02, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

Is there any chance I could have any help with creating this because when I usually create new articles I just use the base from the last year RxxingAddict (talk) 11:22, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Which template from which series shall I use to create it? RxxingAddict (talk) 11:23, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

I'd also use a base from an existing championship, in this case I'd use another Formula 4 championship season, put in the calendar and the confirmed teams (with their respective sources, of course) and the Formula 4 template at the bottom (idk if the series has an official website, if yes, also put that in). H4MCHTR (talk) 11:38, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Ok thank you I'll try and do that later! RxxingAddict (talk) 14:54, 30 December 2022 (UTC)

MRF

Just a question do you have the full qualifying results for MRF? RxxingAddict (talk) 12:10, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

yes, but it is an absolute pain in the butt to get them. You need to download the Sportity app (their only way of communicating documents) and log in with the password "MRFCARS2022". there you can access the documents. hope this helps, H4MCHTR (talk) 12:20, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
Ok, thank you! RxxingAddict (talk) 12:22, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Formula Open

I notice you are using NSW Formula Race Car rules on the Australian Formula Open Series. The two series are not the same. Are you sure this is the correct rulebook? -- Falcadore (talk) 10:08, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

Everything that is communicated from this race weekend (entry list, timetable etc.) doesn't differentiate at all between NSW FRC and AFO, always calling them "Formula Cars" or "Formula Open" all in one. But you are right, we can not be 100% sure that they also apply the same rules. Feel free to revert my additions if you feel this is too vague. H4MCHTR (talk) 10:12, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

Is there any chance you ave the results for Formula Pro USA F4 Winter Series? RxxingAddict (talk) 10:05, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

Have* RxxingAddict (talk) 10:06, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
You can probably find them by digging around a bit in the series results they supported, so the San Francisco Region SCCA Series for round 1 and the SVRA Sprint Series for round 2. It was a pain in the butt to find the FR results, so F4 will probably be much the same. H4MCHTR (talk) 10:10, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
I hope the series themselves update their standings document sometime so its easier to find. H4MCHTR (talk) 10:11, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

2023 Ultimate Cup Series - Challenge Monoplace

I have a significant amount of references for the Endurance Prototype Challenge, GT-Touring Endurance as well as the Sprint Challenge and the Challenge Monoplace. The idea of creating individual articles for these series is a viable one, but significantly less than merging these four main series, changing the page's name from "2023 Ultimate Cup Series - Challenge Monoplace" to "2023 Ultimate Cup Series". The importance, quality etc of the current article would be improved/increased. While decisions like this don't require a form of permission if the decision is rightfully done but you seem to be somewhat actively editing the page so I want your input on this. Thanks. BrokenGearbox (talk) 15:40, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

Yes, I do agree that a merge would be a logical thing to do, but I fear that the article would get rather long very quickly. You would need separate results tables for all the classes, as well as many tables for all the standings. Don't take this as an opinion against a merge, I am rather neutral about that, just my two cents about it. In any case, thank you for asking for my input! Cheers, H4MCHTR (talk) 16:10, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. I've actually been working on the 2022 UCS season too, visible in my sandbox, combining all the classes into the same table albeit separated by columns. BrokenGearbox (talk) 17:58, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

Nico Baptiste

Just one more thing, surely if he was still with the team he would have raced by now and the team wouldn’t have filled his seat? RxxingAddict (talk) 13:58, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

He may have split with the team, I am not doubting that. But we have to stick with the things that are reported, and the latest sources still say he is confirmed to drive. Until he or any news outlet says something different, he should stay on the table. We sometimes had drivers with "TBC" at their rounds for the whole season, like for example Casey Putsch in last years' Indy Pro 2000 championship, where nothing about a split was ever made public. H4MCHTR (talk) 14:01, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

FRECA Page

I’d just done all the standings with the positions and points done correctly in one big edit and then I get edit conflict because Jovanmilic97 is doing it one by one on mobile JamesVilla44 (talk) 15:21, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

Well, now you know how it feels to be on the other side. As you know this practice is not forbidden, so all you can do is talk to them about on their talk page. H4MCHTR (talk) 15:23, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
I’ll leave you to do the rest of the page as long as you don’t get interrupted JamesVilla44 (talk) 15:24, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
I was gonna wait until the drivers' standings are completely done to do the teams' standings. Unless Jovanmilic is also doing them, they usually do both. But I am not too bothered by waiting a bit, before I get into an annoying edit conflict myself H4MCHTR (talk) 15:27, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
Jovan says they’ve finished drivers so you should be good to go JamesVilla44 (talk) 15:33, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
Cheers for the heads up, and thanks for adding the template - the motorsport project should really use it more often, but there are many editors out there just vying to be the first to add results, often even without adding points at all. H4MCHTR (talk) 15:42, 18 June 2023 (UTC)

Usf2000 points

Regarding the USF2000 points, I was waiting until the official website updates or one of there social media accounts posts the new standings. RxxingAddict (talk) 10:37, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

@RxxingAddict then either calculate the points by yourself (it's not that hard) or just not add the results at all, doing it this way just makes it harder for all other editors, not knowing which points have been added and which haven't, especially when you're not the only one editing a page (which is most of the times) and sometimes only some points for some standings are added.
I know it's not a rule anywhere, just something to make the work easier for everyone, especially when the race is late at night for your time and you know you probably won't add the points until the next day. H4MCHTR (talk) 10:44, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
sometimes I try that and i accidentally do it Wrong RxxingAddict (talk) 10:58, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
for me personally, better to put them and sometimes there are small errors than to leave it unupdated for hours. In the end, there also could always be penalties changing the results, so changes will have to be made anyway. I make mistakes adding standings now and then, too, it's no big deal. H4MCHTR (talk) 11:01, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

Euro4

Is their any chance you could help me by creating a base for a 2023 Euro4 article? RxxingAddict (talk) 16:42, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

I believe someone already created a draft for it, I remember seeing it earlier today: Draft:2023 Euro 4 Championship. You can go work with that one. Cheers, H4MCHTR (talk) 16:57, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
Oh, ok thank you RxxingAddict (talk) 17:02, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

IndyCar entry table

Hi. Thanks for your edit to Draft:2024 IndyCar Series. I added a separate column for references as I felt it looked more organized both for reading and for editing. It also stems from my starting to do this to the 2023 table over at my sandbox which I had meant to edit into the 2023 season article but got sidetracked. Let me know what you think about making this change to the previous articles as AFAIK your removal is based on the previous articles not having that extra column. Thanks again, ― "Ghost of Dan Gurney" (talk)  04:22, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

Formula One support series

FYI, the consensus is that more than half of a series events must support an F1 weekend to count as a support series (not 100% as this edit summary suggested.) SSSB (talk) 08:15, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

sorry about the Points, i was going to do it but forgot. S (talk) 13:11, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

@RxxingAddict it's alright, as long as the newest version of the article is consistent between all drivers (so positions added for everyone and no points added for anyone) and not points added for some people, it is easy to update. H4MCHTR (talk) 13:14, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:58, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Sources on 2023 Formula Pro USA series

Hi, H4MCHTR. I see you've double-checked my editions on the FPUSA seasons (to me it felt wrong just to have FPUSA-3 and not FPUSA-4 given they are considered categories of a single championship) and corrected a few things, so many thanks for it!

However, I do have a comment: since I deleted the "season report" info from the articles as it felt unnecessary, I decided to keep the sources for the race results as the links already were there and helped explain things such as the fact Havrda was classified 2nd in race 2 of the Winter Series despite actually retiring.

I know it's not customary in most motorsport articles and I don't mind having them or not, but I've seen it included in some of them, such as the 2023 TC2000 Championship, so while I understand it may not be coherent with the usual structure, I don't find it harmful at all if these sources are quoted, it's just an additional direct link to the info. Sjælefred Herm (talk) 13:49, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

Sure, they are not harmful, I just have never seen a single-seater championship page with sources added that way. But feel free to re-add them, I just wanted to follow established practice :) H4MCHTR (talk) 14:13, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
Nah, if it's not commonplace in single-seater pages, let's just leave it as is. Sjælefred Herm (talk) 11:30, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

2024 Formula Pro USA series

Hi, H4MCHTR. I believe that, since FRUSA tends to follow what the US FIA ladder does, and F4 US will transition to Gen2 cars while creating Ligier JS F4 Series for Gen1 cars, we will have three different categories for 2024 instead of two in FPUSA as well. There must be something announced by FPUSA regarding this, so if you want to explore and update the 2024 FPUSA series, feel free to go. What I don't know is about the engines. F4 US will have Ligier Storm engines and FRAC also will make use of them, but dunno if Ligier JS F4 will keep the Honda engines. FPUSA will do the same as these three series, however there's also the possibility that they allow the FR cars with the old-to-be Honda engine instead of the new-to-be Ligier... We'll have to wait on that. Sjælefred Herm (talk) 11:30, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the interesting news - after taking a quick look I was unable to find any official confirmation or communication by the series, but this will certainly come into play when the 2024 season gets underway. As you said, we'll have to wait and see! H4MCHTR (talk) 13:50, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for your contributions to 2024 Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. JTtheOG (talk) 10:55, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

Braschi

Hello, H4MCHTR i have heard from a MP motorsport team member that Francesco Braschi was never meant to race for them in FRMEC and it was a mistake, shall we keep him in there or remove him and just add Isaac Barashi instead? Thanks S (talk) 12:01, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

I heard about that too, yes. As we sadly have no source confirming Braschi not competing against the one confirming his competition, we should keep him (and then turn him into a note below the table once the season is over). I can add Barashi in a moment once I find a source. Cheers, H4MCHTR (talk) 12:04, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
