Hi Gurt - Profesor Traductor Google appears to have been doing good things to this article, but even in that machine translated version it would appear to me an obvious WP:G11. ¿Your thoughts? --Shirt58 (talk) 11:15, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Funny, the original Spanish version wasn't G11, but the current English translation by the article's creator certainly is. You would be justified in speedying it, IMHO. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 11:19, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
My guess is that it was started on es:wikipedia as just another article, but it came to immediate attention on en:wikipedia as one that was in need of translation. Perhaps we should wait a little while before applying The Stark Fist of Removal.--Shirt58 (talk) 11:51, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion - how to test format copyright material — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bantaxaver (talkcontribs) 15:45, 4 July 2011 (UTC) Hi Gurt - The material edited under user Bantaxaver is by no means to be published yet. It was meant to be a test area where the editing and formating of the related information was going to take place. I have the official permission and entry codes for the related entry, but I wanted to access it with the finished content. Please inform me if there is another way to format and edit the related material before releasing it for the public. Thanks. Bantaxaver.

I've moved it to a user subpage at User:Bantaxaver/DIGIC, and removed the copyrighted text. Please note that you can't have copyrighted text anywhere on Wikipedia. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 15:47, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Benefit Cosmetics

I have removed the speedy deletion tag on Benefit Cosmetics. I have cleaned up the article to remove the overtly promotional language, and I believe the coverage in major style magazines argues against a speedy deletion based on notability. A credible claim of notability is made, and supported by citations. Take to AFD if you think it is needed. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 18:02, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

OK, thanks for the cleanup, and thanks for letting me know. Gurt Posh (talk) 18:03, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Dj anas

Hello Gurt Posh. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Dj anas, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. Danger (talk) 18:12, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Joseph Phillips (Serial Killer) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Does G10 apply to articles that clearly indicate the subject is dead? I'm inclined to say no. Google didn't turn anything up but it rarely would on a subject this far removed from the information age. I'll leave up the template in case another admin wants to review it, but my feeling is that PROD/AFD is more appropriate here. Regards, causa sui (talk) 18:23, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

The creator's only other edit was today, and that was an attack page. But strictly speaking, there's no proof that it's an attack page, and if a reviewing admin decides to decline the speedy then I'd be OK with that. Thanks for asking. Gurt Posh (talk) 18:25, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of the article: List of cars available in India

Mr. Gurt, can u kindly give me a suitable reason as to why my article " List of cars available in India " was deleted? In case such things are not encouraged, the administrators could at least have mentioned before the page is created but here, after spending an entire day before the computer typing the list and making the necessary changes, I find that it has been deleted. I do not find any such law that says that such articles are prohibited from Wikipedia.

How can you explain the fact that a simple man, who comes to Wikipedia to have a list of cars to choose his next vehicle from, should not be the given information? Why would he, or rather, why should he go through an entire list of cars available in the entire world and tick mark those available here? Why should he go through the entire history of automobile industry in India, and just think of it- how would he think of "Automobile industry in India" when all he needs is a list and links to direct him to the car he wants to buy?

I kindly request you to let me reopen the article and do the needful. You might find the entire incident amusing OR you may been ban me for going against the board, but frankly speaking, I am shocked.

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mohitk1993 (talkcontribs) 18:41, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

No, there's nothing amusing about it, and I have no wish to ban you. But the article had already been deleted following the discussion at WP:Articles for deletion/List of cars available in India, and the new version was not substantially different to the previously deleted one. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 18:47, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Atlantis of the Sands

It would help me to know what items of original research have not been properly referenced in this article as I believe every aspect of it is properly referenced. Many thanks Shaibalahmar (talk) 07:57, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

The conclusion was the main one, which you've now removed, thanks. I'll remove the OR tag. The tone still needs review to make it more encylopaedic - I'll work on that when you've finished editing. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 08:29, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
That's helpful, thank you. Shaibalahmar (talk) 08:37, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of Tempest Brewing Company page

Hello, i put up the page for the Tempest Brewing Company last week only to find it has been deleted since i got back from holiday. I am confused as to why the page would be deleted as it provided the required information needed by outside sources and followed the same form as other microbrewery pages. If you could let me know the reasons, and re-instate that would be great.

Cheers — Preceding unsigned comment added by Specialfried (talkcontribs) 16:00, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Eric Pope

I have added three references to the page, so it is now able to be up and running by itself. There is no need for deletion, thanks - Darbaki Darbaki (talk) 17:07, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Two of the references were Wikipedia articles that don't mention him, and the third was an external link that doesn't mention him, so it will still need to be deleted since none of what's said in the article is WP:Verifiable. Also please have a read of WP:Notability (sports)#Association football: he hasn't played a professional match yet, so even with references the article would be deleted on grounds of WP:Notability. Gurt Posh (talk) 08:31, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation page

Hi. I created some disambiguation pages to write new articles. Is it impossible for you to wait our works ? And see Ahmet Ağaoğlu (disambiguation). I don't know when another article will be created. Takabeg (talk) 14:33, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

It's best to wait until the article is created, unless you're planning to write all of the articles immediately. And when there are only two names to disambiguate, then it's best to just use a hatnote. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 14:35, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Ahmet Ağaoğlu (disambiguation) is a good example of what I'm trying to avoid: it was created last August, and still only points to one article. Gurt Posh (talk) 14:44, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
I cannot write all of them (Fahreddin Pasha (disambiguation), Bekir Sami Bey (disambiguation), Fevzi Pasha (disambiguation), Osman Nuri Pasha (disambiguation)) immidiately, becuase I have work. But it's easy for me to write them within one day. This is a kind of the preparation to make easy to write articles. I invite you to behave more constructively. Thank you. Takabeg (talk) 14:40, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
That would be great, thanks, please do write them. And once they're written, we can add hatnotes for disambiguation, or if there are three or more to disambiguate, then let's create some dab pages. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 14:42, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Just to let you know, I removed your WP:CSD R3 on Osman Nuri Pasha (disambiguation) as the page was changed to a dab, seemed related to this discussion. Monty845 17:01, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Yes you're right thanks, a third dab link was added. Gurt Posh (talk) 08:00, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Incorrect SPEEDY DELETION

Hi. I'm just letting you I just deleted TEB HAT as a blatant and very obvious hoax. Items of clothing are not covered by A7. Please read what you are tagging, and if you are still in doubt, read WP:NPP again. You are also welcome to ask me for advice on my talk page. Global Standard Bank

Hi Gurt, Thanks for your help with the page I made for Global Standard Bank. There is another user trying to have the page deleted before it has a chance to grow with the addion of other user contrib. I think its a type of vandalism, as the same user entered into an editing war with me when i tried to include a link to the main Bitcoin page. Can you help?Bitcoineer (talk) 05:25, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

After some due diligence on "Global Standard Bank", it appears to be a scam. See [1], where pictures from their web sites are matched with the place they came from. The exterior picture of their building is really an office building in Seattle, and the interior picture of their offices is from a bank in Florida. --John Nagle (talk) 00:32, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Wow. Nice work. Maybe this will return as line-item on an internet scam article, but as Kudpung says in the AFD, there's not enough info available for that yet. Gurt Posh (talk) 08:32, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Mall:Bullfrog Productions

I'm sorry for the creation of Mall:Bullfrog_Productions. I meant to create it on the swedish wikipedia, but pasted it in the wrong window (I did the template in notepad). CompuTerror (talk) 11:20, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

No worries! Happens all the time. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 11:24, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

List of guests

I took a whack at an AFD for list of The Daily Show guests back in 2006; want to try again? Maybe the discussion will shift the other way. hbdragon88 (talk) 04:37, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

I would support deletion per WP:LISTCRUFT on an AFD, go for it. Gurt Posh (talk) 08:33, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Cristian Ceballos Page

Hi i was wondering if you have any more info on Cristian Ceballos. and what changes did you make when you edited it. BulgarianBoy21 (talk) 13:43, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

I have no more info on him, but you can see the changes I made at the page's edit history. Thanks for the article, Gurt Posh (talk) 13:44, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

where did you get the appearences and goals information for barcelona?? BulgarianBoy21 (talk) 17:44, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

That wasn't my addition, that was Fallschirmjäger in this edit. It looks as if he hasn't actually played in a professional match yet, so might not be notable yet per WP:NFOOTY. Gurt Posh (talk) 07:05, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Edits

Hi Gurt Posh,

Thank you for your edits to the HDMA page. I would like to continue to include HDMA's mission statement and can recieve copyright permission, so how do I go about this? thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gallucal (talkcontribs) 13:46, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

You're very welcome. There's already a reference link in the article to the mission statement , which is the best way to include content from an organization with a promotional tone. We need to ensure a WP:Neutral point of view in the article itself. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 13:49, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Ok great! I moved it down just under a different heading but I am not sure if I moved the reference link with it so I am working on that. Thanks again for all your help!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gallucal (talkcontribs) 13:56, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you again, but I can't seem to get the references right. I am trying to move "reference 5" (the one about the mission statement) but cannot seem to get it right. Do you have any suggestions? Gallucal — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.166.133.205 (talk) 14:14, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

No problem. Gurt Posh (talk) 14:38, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

That porn-star article

Actually, I reckon that was a G10 - I was looking at it as you changed your mind - and I have deleted it. It certainly comes under the section of WP:BLP which says: "Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion." Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:16, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I saw that. Tricky one: the main text was a paste of copyrighted marketing, which I removed, but I have no idea whether the sites it was copied from are reliable: it could be an elaborate smear. Probably A7 in any case. Thanks Gurt Posh (talk) 10:18, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Ruhet Genç

Dear Gurt and All,

My attempts to enrich the inside of wikipedia by introducing Ruhet Genç who is a perfect example of successful industrialist, business man and academician who built bridges between business world and academia by using both identities in each and every angle. His life story proves neither academia without business life nor business life without academia can exist successfully. Please alove me to make necessary correction if all needed to broadcast his life story through our wikipedia.

Best regards,

Esra Oğuz. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruhetgenc (talkcontribs) 08:45, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Please stop writing your WP:Autobiography. Wikipedia is not enriched by your incessant attempts at self-promotion. Gurt Posh (talk) 08:57, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Frick thing

I know your problem... I'd say this is quite different and shows more notability. I'm not guaranteeing the reliability of the refs, as I've not checked them. G4's out, but that doesn't preclude others. Peridon (talk) 16:34, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. I wouldn't be surprised, since I see no mention of a NYT reference in the AFD. It looks notable overall per WP:GNG to me: if there was an AFD on it today, I'd say "keep". Gurt Posh (talk) 07:49, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi Gurt. I don't quite understand what you've done here. The article is still showing with its title in all caps. I've deleted the redirect as an implausible redirect. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:38, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Eek. Some sort of cache issue, looks like. When I clicked on history for MIDAN City, I got the history for Midan City. Then a minute later, the problem went away. It's not an implausible redirect though: some of their PR spells it MIDAN, and some spells it Midan. WP:MOSCAPS (and some other MOS I can't find, that mentions marketing use of Yahoo!-style marketing exclamations, etc.) seems to me to prefer the lowercase spelling. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 08:45, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
There are several sever issues at the moment it may have been taking time to update move requests. I was also trying to move it so it might have been a weird edit conflict. Anyway, you're right, page names should not be unnecessarily capitalised.

Wrecksite and Archaeologist pages

I have been taking time to update the Shipwreck and Archaeologist pages and received warning messages in my email fromk a PTjoshua - on the link to that page was a link to here. I am a maritime archaeologist trying to update information, why am I being bothered with these warnings? I thought the entire purpose was to have information accessibility; and are you some gatekeeper for this? Are you a maritime archaeologist? Thank you Jgroyal (talk) 20:32, 15 July 2011 (UTC)jgroyal

I'm no gatekeeper, and I have no idea why User:PTJoshua sent you emails with links to this page, and I can find no edits by me in the edit histories of any of the pages you've worked on. It's probably best if you ask PTJoshua at User talk:PTJoshua about the emails. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 00:37, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

I never sent anyone any emails and I have no idea what that is about. What I edited was Jgroyal adding himself and his website to articles. PTJoshua (talk) 00:42, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Not Published (Still being worked on)

The book A Future Not Far, simply isn't published YET, but will be in a few months — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joe Grist (talkcontribs) 11:59, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

It's pretty unlikely that your book would be considered notable yet, as it hasn't been published, and none of your other books are notable yet. If you were as notable as, say, J. K. Rowling, and were planning to publish a book in a few months, then that would be notable. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 09:16, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Ruhet Genç

Dear All,

I presume after making suggested changes on Ruhet Genç's biography (not autobiograpky though!) it looks and it is much better even Merry Shelly's biography which has been pointed out as a perfect example. Now it is up to you to accept as it is or ask for some changes. I realize it is somewhat difficult to reflect the quality of a personality on lines.

Sincerely,

Esra Oğuz. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruhetgenc (talkcontribs) 09:43, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Your username is Ruhetgenc, but Ruhet Genç, edited almost entirely by you, is not an autobiography? I can find no article on Merry Shelly, and can find nothing on your talk page, at Ruhet Genç or at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ruhet Genç about a Merry Shelley: what are you referring to? Gurt Posh (talk) 09:49, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your kind and speedy answer. Since the subject of the biography is Ruhet Genç i happened to use ruhetgenc as my user name. That would be nice to be Ruhet Genç that is not possible to be him in my case as I am female. Besides the point I feel very comfortable and content as Esra Oğuz namely Oğuz represent ancient Turkish tribe. But nevertheless neither this information nor the accumulation of my experiences entitled me to put my name in wikipedia yet. Excuse my misspelling Mary Shelley, likewise lack of dimension which represent Ruhet Genç on the paper. But I like the way you choose to critisize things. It is challenging and open up a way to increase the knowladge.

Thank you once again for your valuable time and effort,

Esra Oğuz. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruhetgenc (talkcontribs) 12:58, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

I haven't got the faintest idea what you're talking about. Gurt Posh (talk) 08:01, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

First of all I was just trying to mention simply I am not Ruhet Genç since you thought my article was "autobiography". Secondly, Mary Shelly is shown as an example for how a biography article should be in wikipedia and I think my Ruhet Genç article is as good as that one even better; more explanatory. As a third point, I just said I liked the way you ciriticize things. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruhetgenc (talkcontribs) 12:20, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Joel Swerdlow article

Dear Gurt Posh, I see that you added (correctly) an autobiographical tab to the article I created on Joel Swerdlow, because I see that he did make a number of corrections. However, going over his corrections, I think that he did not add anything that goes against the NPOV requirement: he only dealt with small facts in his life to ensure accuracy or add a fact here and there. (At least, that is my impression.)The bulk of the article is still what I wrote. If you agree, do you think you could delete the autobiographical tab for now? As you can see from my user page, I have created many pages before and after creating his, and although I am interested in his works, I am not on his staff or even a former or present student. Many thanks! NearTheZoo (talk) 16:54, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I've just edited it for POV, and tagged it for ref improvement. It's still quite self-promotional, making many assertions about his achievements that are either unsourced or unsupported by the sources given. He is clearly notable, but the article currently suffers from the problems typical of most WP:AUTOBIO articles. I'll try to look for references: perhaps you can give a hand with this. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 08:37, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll also try to go through it later, perhaps adding some "citation needed" notes where refs are still needed, in addition to trying to find some other refs? Oops - see you've already added many ref needed cites already!
I do have one question. I see that one of the primary resources I used - the Archer Center bio - has been removed (although I'll keep searching to see if it is cached somewhere). What is the wikipedia rule for using a source that is later removed? The reference cite goes to a page that still lists the course Swerdlow taught, but no longer has his bio. You have marked the info "failed verification" based on the current situation. Is that the only option?
If you could keep an eye on the article over the rest of the week, to see if we can get it to a point where one or both of the banners can be removed, I'd appreciate it! Again, thanks! NearTheZoo (talk) 13:02, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
The Archer Center ref is still there: it's currently ref 2. Yes I will keep an eye, thanks. Gurt Posh (talk) 14:38, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
OK - I have put in hours on the article, and it's shaping up, so please take a look. Some of the facts that I used the Archer ref for were marked "not in ref" -- but some were, all the way at the bottom of the page, and in those cases I deleted the "not in ref" cite. In other cases, I found different refs, including a bio that had many of the statements that you had marked as needing refs. I deleted a few facts that were pretty trivial (like Swerdlow's class activities in school) rather than tracking down refs for them.
There are a few facts that still (rightly) have the citation needed tags, and I'll work on them -- but I think that since there are just a few it would be appropriate to tag down the "poorly sourced" banner. Do you agree?
Also, now that I've taken out some trivial and perhaps non-NPOV facts and referenced almost everything else (and in a sense "recaptured" the article that I originally created in terms of my initial vision for the piece) I think it might also be appropriate to delete the "autobiographical" tag. I hope you agree. I have made contact with Swerdlow, partly in an effort to find more refs -- and I told him that although Wikipedia does not prohibit the subjects of articles from working on them in a neutral way, it is usually better to keep a little distance from one's own bio. He's agreed this makes sense.
Again, thanks for your help. I think the article is better now.NearTheZoo (talk) 03:48, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Wow. Nice work! Yes I've whomped those two tags, and I'm sure the remaining cites will follow soon. Thanks very much for all your hard work on this. Gurt Posh (talk) 07:16, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
) Thanks for this action -- and for your keen eye (and civility) all along the way! I do think your observations helped make this a better article. I will continue to track down the few remaining cites. Thanks again! (By the way, on a separate subject, I am working on my "magnum opus" - the article: "Religious symbolism in the United States military." I think it has a lot of very interesting info if you are at all interested in such a subject!). Best wishes, NearTheZoo (talk) 11:56, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

There are many sources on the Russian and German articles about Nicole Heesters. Is it also maybe a possibility to put all less-famous people from the family in one page called Heesters family? As with the Jackson family? Pierlot (talk) 10:53, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

It's a bit early for an article on the whole family. First the Heesters articles need to be expanded and referenced. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 11:00, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm a bit leery about re-starting Talk:Matt Jarvis (psychologist)...

... because doing so pops up this message (that you are without any doubt at all au fait with):

A page with this title has previously been deleted.

If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue. If you are recreating a page similar to the previously deleted page, or are unsure, please first contact the deleting administrator using the information provided below.

  • 16:39, 9 December 2010 Wizardman (talk | contribs) deleted "Talk:Matt Jarvis (psychologist)" (G8: Talk page of a deleted page)

Wizardman WP:G8'd it. I might go ahead and start it anyway - that is, if you don't beat me to it - and add a message to their (Wizardman, that is) talk page. --Shirt58 (talk) 14:08, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Article doesn't appear to have been WP:AfD'd. --Shirt58 (talk) 14:17, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Yes, article was previously prodded under the title M.J. (psychologist). This was re-created as M.J. (author), and I moved it to (psychologist) as it seemed a better fit. He seems potentially notable, if refs can be found for the claims of his book's widespread use in the UK. Gurt Posh (talk) 14:19, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Roger, wilco--Shirt58 (talk) 14:44, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
The article was deleted due to being an expired WP:PROD. That basically means that it can be recreated should someone find that person notable and article-worthy. G4 does not apply in this case, but if anyone feels that it's not worth having an article, then WP:AFD is the place to take it. I'd consider this being acceptable for an article, but this stuff is not my strong suit and I could be wrong. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 17:09, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Yes, AFD is what's being hinted at here. I'm giving the article's creator a bit of time to gather some refs before plunging ahead with an AFD though. Gurt Posh (talk) 08:03, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

About the deletion of Balkan Holidays

Could you please give a reason for the speedy deletion of Balkan Holidays, as it was completely rewritten, and was about the 46-year-old group of companies (including BH Air) and not just the London-based branch. The article of Virgin Holidays doesn't have more scientific or encyclopedic content than the one you have deleted. 83.244.229.226 (talk) 13:02, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

One of the administrators deleted it as it was judged not to be substantially different from the article that was deleted following the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Balkan Holidays. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 13:04, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Re Matt Jarvis (psychologist)

Hi, and many thanks for the help getting the page sorted out - I am a newbie to this. In answer to your question the reference to Jarvis text as course text is in the Social Science & Psychology handbook, listed on this page. There isn't a URL for the handbook itself, this is as close as you can get. I thought by calling the reference 'Social Science & Psychology Handbook I'd covered it. University course reading lists are normally password protected so it is hard to reference this to an easy-to-verify source. Thanks, Jon. (Jonsmythelawson (talk) 15:52, 22 July 2011 (UTC))

I'm uncomfortable deleting Seoul Foreign Language High School as a CSD G11. As a project, we've decided that articles on schools are exempt from G7. That doesn't mean they can't fail G11, but it does suggest that we ought to be especially careful when using other CSD criteria (to be honest, I'm not sure that conclusion follows, feel free to challenge me). On the merits, I see some evidence of puffery, but I'm not convinced it is so bad as to "Can we concentrate on settling whether the dab is warranted?". I'd prefer tagging and possibly AfD. I'll reiterate, I'm not totally sold on my own argument, so feel free to push back if you feel strongly, and we can find a venue to discuss. (Looks like you reached a similar conclusion even while I was writing this?)--SPhilbrickT 16:57, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Reason given, please remove he nomination for speedy deletion of Goal Busters F.C. article

This page should not be speedy deleted because... Goal Busters F.C. is REAL professional club established recently, in Sector-15, Faridabad. It has won against all the local clubs of the city (Faridabad) and started defeating other clubs of neigbouring cities as well. It has played about 36 matches, lost just 2 of them, that too based on penalties. The club, though recently established, has PROFESSIONAL KITS, is highly successful, has a huge fan base, highly popular and based on great team chemistry. Due to shortage of funds, the club does not have its own website, but has its own fan page on a popular Social networking website, which can be visited by clicking on the Club Home Page link... please visit the page, everyone visiting it, can confirm its a great football club! Thanks!

So please remove the nomination for speedy deletion as follows: Siddhantbatra (talk) 19:10, 22 July 2011 (UTC) siddhantbatra

Red Centre

Hello

The Red Centre aka Red Centre Way article was not aimed purely at promotion, because it is a recognised drive/region that has been further promoted by the local government in the Northern Territory. Like the Great Ocean Road in Victoria and the Alpine Way in New South Wales it is a destination, encompassing real places and locations. There is mention of the phrase "Red Centre" in other articles, whilst no actual page existed on the phrase, which I my aim was to create the page with content I own, then to link in with the other articles and images. Thank you Ausemade (talk) 08:53, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Red Centre certainly merits an article, but please stop linkspamming for your website: you've been linking to it in many articles. Gurt Posh (talk) 08:56, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Can you then reinstate the article and just remove the links. Thanks Ausemade (talk) 09:03, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

The content of the article (apart from the pile of ausemade links) was also rather WP:PROMO, but you can ask the deleting admin User:Fastily to reinstate it. Gurt Posh (talk) 09:09, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Nomination of Liddle Kidz Foundation for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Liddle Kidz Foundation is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Liddle Kidz Foundation until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article.Yobol (talk) 16:57, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

hi gurt, last week I've entered links to the official band biographies of the following bands: nightwish, dimmu borgir and they were deleted by you. I only got automated emails regarding this but don't understand why they were deleted. these were links to both band's official record company nuclear blast who get biographies directly from the bands or from their management so I assume these are highly relevant links to the band's entry on wikipedia. please let me know if I'm wrong with this assumption and if you could undo those deletions which would be highly appreciated.

if you agree, I'd like to continue to place links to the official band profiles on nuclear blast to all nuclear blast bands if they do not get deleted then. please let me know!

Please have a read of WP:Conflict of interest and WP:LINKSPAM: the links you added were to sales pages at your company's website, accompanied by highly WP:PROMO blurbs on the bands. The templates you created consisted solely of one link to the corresponding product page. However, you're very welcome to write about any other subjects with which you don't have a commercial conflict of interest. Please post back if I can be of help with that. Lincolnshire County Council

Call me astute, but whilst spending your entire life deleting pages, you may not possess sufficient knowledge on other parts of the UK when it is required.

Do you know where Lincolnshire is?

Have you ever heard of Martin Hill, before today? - unlikely to be a yes.

Because I revoke your alterations does not mean I lack relevant knowledge, when I think you possess 0% knowledge on this subject. You do not know the first thing. Would a chimpanzee know as much? - please correct me if I am wrong.

Why not stick to the subjects you know something about? Your persistence oversteps your thoroughness. DinosaursLoveExistence (talk) 14:57, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Oh my, oh my, this is the most hilarious thing I have read in a long time. There's a small crowd gathered at my desk to see what made me nearly shoot tea out my nose.
Memo to self: first read new morning talk page messages, then drink tea. :-)
Now then, to answer what appears to be your real question. Please don't take this quite so personally. It's not a criticism of you, or of Mr. Hill (assuming that you are not him), or of Lincolnshire CC. It's a matter of Wikipedia's guidelines on notability. They often don't match up to our "real-world" expectations of what constitutes notability: articles on heads of major corporations, for example, often get deleted or merged into their company article, if they don't show notability outside of association with the company. I could be wrong about Mr. Hill, which is why we have the WP:AFD process here on Wikipedia: it's about reaching a consensus on matter of opinion, and in this case the existing guidelines are a bit unclear about notability in UK local government. Cheers! Gurt Posh (talk) 08:20, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Help!

Hi there!

I recently had my page Thomas fontaine tagged by you for notability and after reviewing the Wikipedia:Notability (people) guidelines I must agree with your tag. I do however now have the problem of deletion and unfortunately am unaware as to how this process works. I have read through the WP:deletion policy but still a little confused. Would you be able to help me with this at all? Thanks in advance Pereirab04 (talk) 01:33, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Hello, and thanks for the article. Yes it appears that he hasn't yet played a professional match, and so doesn't meet notability per WP:FOOTY yet. Would you like me to move the article to a WP:User subpage, so you can have it all ready to go when he does play this season? Gurt Posh (talk) 08:24, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
That would be fantastic if you could do that! TI'll update and complete it the second he does. Thanks heaps for the help! Pereirab04 (talk) 02:43, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
No worries! Moving a page is easy once you've done it the first time. Here's what I've done:
a) Went to Thomas Fontaine
b) Clicked on the "Move" tab, fifth from the left
c) Gave it the new title User:Pereirab04/Thomas Fontaine, and added a note in the "Reason" box about my discussion with you here
d) Clicked the "Move page" button. That's it, now you're done.
"Moving" a page is the same thing as renaming it. When you move a page, it will automatically leave behind a redirect to where you moved it. Redirects from article titles to user pages aren't allowed, so I've now tagged that redirect for deletion, and it will probably be deleted by the time you read this.
So there it is: if you get the spelling or spacing wrong in a name title (and that happens a lot with new articles), then to rename an article you simply move it.
Hope that's useful: you're welcome to ask back here if you have any more questions. Gurt Posh (talk) 06:55, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
Very useful indeed! I'm still learning the ins and outs of wikipedia editing but your help has been most valuable. I'll keep this in mind, always keen to learn more! Many thanks. Pereirab04 (talk) 08:10, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Penrose Prozess page

Hello Gurt, I have just finished writing a new page, and it was already deleted. I have received your message warning me about it being a duplicate. I was trying to figure out a way to link it from the English version to my German version, but didn't any information. Would you know how to indicate a page being a translated version of another, so maybe I can add it to mine, which sadly was just deleted....thanks alot, MB MadameBruxelles (talk) 16:38, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Not to worry: we can easily re-create Penrose Prozess on the German Wikipedia. I'll ask the deleting administrator to undelete it to a WP:Subpage of your user page. You can then click "edit" on that temporary article, and copy its source to http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penrose_Prozess. Once that's done, we can link Penrose process to that new German article, using an Interlanguage link. Hope that all makes sense! Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 07:36, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
OK, I've requested that your translation be undeleted at User talk:Jac16888#Undeletion request. I hope this will get done soon. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 07:43, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Atlas THON

Hi Gurt Posh,

You recently requested that my article, Atlas THON, be examined for speedy deletion. I believe that this is erroneous, as the problem with the article, as claimed in the mark for speedy deletion, was that the article did not explain the significance or importance of the organization. The article I have written describes how Atlas THON has raised over $1 million in 6 years to help children with pediatric cancer, as a part of the annual Penn State Dance Marathon, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. This seems to me to be quite significant, as the amount of money raised, coupled with the fact that it is raised by students in their free time, is quite astounding. Thanks for the inquiry, and let me know if you have any questions about the article. Mtk180 (talk) 09:49, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Mtk180

I'm sure it's a fine organization, and it's great to hear that they're raising money for such a good cause. But the article doesn't assert how it's notable: please have a read of WP:CLUB for more information on notability of clubs and similar groups. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 09:53, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
I have edited the page to include multiple independent sources that verify the notability of Atlas THON, including the Massachusetts General Hospital, The Daily Collegian, and Onward State. Also, I would consider recognition from the Massachusetts General Hospital as one of the" top 100 organizations fighting cancer" as national recognition. Please remove the speedy deletion tag if this is sufficient evidence for the notability of the organization. Mtk180 (talk) 16:54, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Mtk180

Hi Gurt,

Thanks for the welcome. I presume the page you mention with the potential conflict of interests is for The Banker? I had a look through the changes and I've made a couple of additions to your amends in the "Features and Awards" section. I've re-written anything I've added so that it is neutral in tone and reflects the structure you put in place.

I hope this is ok - please let me know if there is anything you are not comfortable with. I've also requested a change of username based on your recommendation. I wasn't sure if this would impact on my talk page which is why I didn't create a draft version as suggested.

Thanks

Hi Gurt, I have added third party references from the scholarly literature that have appeared since 2004. Maybe its meaning is not well described? What do you think? Rimmodude (talk) 00:09, 5 August 2011 (UTC) PS Could not find the thread of our Talk.

Hi Gurt, I hope you read this post. I could not find the threads in the notice at the top of the article. This is an INTERDISCIPLINARY idea, so it does not fit under sociology, psychology, education, communication, post-colonial literature, critical social theory or cultural studies alone. I don't expect anyone in one of these disciplines to be able to make a sound, impartial judgement about it. There are third party sources included. Not sure why they are being ignored? The inability to see "notability" is frustrating. If it is not notable, why are book authors in the area of intercultural communication citing it? I would sooner have Hofstede, Guo Ming Chen, Stella Ting-Toomey, Bhabha, Wanchi Wong, Kim Li, or other people, who work in this area critique it. That is how I thought Wikipedia works. People, who know something about the area can edit and add opinions, disagree etc. Why not let this happen? Rimmodude (talk) 23:48, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello. I've moved your new additions back to the original thread, in date order. I'm not sure why you think scholars in other fields can't make sound, impartial judgements about a Wikipedia article describing your work. It's also not clear to me yet whether the offline references you've added are actually citing it, or whether the citations are WP:SYNTHESIS references that you believe support the assertions you make without actually using the words "cage painting". If you can think of other Portals and Wikiprojects where we can find editors with the expertise to review it, I'd be glad of the suggestions. But I strongly recommend that you read WP:Conflict of interest, and wait for someone not connected with your work to write about it, or about you. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 08:16, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Sir Gurt, Please reply to me why you have deleted my article : Raju, B.R.K?. I have provided genuine external links and references (citations)for the article. I have divided the article into sections. I have used my own language, not copied from anywhere. The person in the article is one of the popular educational, political & beaurocratic celebrities in India. What else Articles about Living persons require? I have posted this article in the past, but it was deleted many times. I have found articles about unpopular living persons too in wikipedia. Please suggest me how to post the same article. I am a person who got the employement in government because of him.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Redaloes (talkcontribs)

Raju, B.R.K was deleted because it was a repost of B.:R.K Raju, which had been deleted following the deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/B.R.K Raju. The article doesn't meet Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, for the reasons show in the AFD discussion. Since, as you point out, it has been deleted many times, I strongly suggest that you not post it again. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 07:55, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Sir Gurt, Please mention why and how Raju, B.R.K is not meeting Wikipedia's criteria? Why the articles about many unnotable movie actors are not being deleted? Why repost not permitted, when old articles were being deleted? What points should I remember while posting about a living person?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Redaloes (talkcontribs)

Hello Redaloes. Here are answers to your questions in order:
  1. Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/B.R.K Raju
  2. Please see Wikipedia:Other stuff exists
  3. You can repost an article if it's substantially different to the original, but the deleting administrator judged that your repost was not substantially different.
  4. You can find more info about writing biographies of living people at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, and information about notability of biographies at Wikipedia:Notability (people). Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 08:57, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Alright, you are violated Wiki policy that the article itself copied into a blog (second link), I will report you to WP:ANI to discuss in copyright violations. That the episode summary from the article is original, not copyright violation. ApprenticeFan work 16:04, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Gurt Posh. The content has been in the article since at least April, see [2] The blog that I can see is datestamped 7 July 2011. The other item seems to be unavailable, but go blog tattoo definitely copied Wikipedia, not the other way round. On that basis, I have put the content back. I have also explained to ApprenticeFan that Wikipedia content is licenced for reuse without restriction, as I think he is somehow upset by the copying (or I may be misunderstanding him). --Elen of the Roads (talk) 01:27, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Polar Mobile

How do I move a "userfied" page into the public encyclopedia? I'm finished the article and would like to post it. Thanks, Nicole.pitre (talk) 14:01, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

I would strongly suggest that you not move User:Nicole.pitre/Polar Mobile back into article space: it's barely changed since it was moved there. 14:03, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Gurt, Thanks for the response. At this point I have edited the article again and feel that it shows no bias. I would like to move it into the article space. I don't feel that it sounds like 'advertising" in any way like it did before- it's just the facts. Nicole.pitre (talk) 14:25, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Well it's already been speedy deleted twice as blatant WP:SPAM.
Phrases like "Polar was created with the purpose of enabling the mobile lifestyle. Within a few years, Polar has established itself in the Mobile Apps market, working with media Publishers who want to extend their reach and increase engagement among users by leveraging the mobile opportunity." are pure marketing, so you can bet that it will get deleted by an administrator immediately if you try to move it to article space. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 14:32, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

That's true. I did notice that section in particular and have already started changing it. Beginner's mistake. I'm sure my next article will be much more "encyclopedic". I will continue trying to edit this one and make it into a neutral article! Thanks, Nicole.pitre (talk) 14:38, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Given your position at Polar Mobile, I think it would be best if you ceased working on the article altogether and wait for somebody else to create it. See WP:COI. --Simple Bob a.k.a. The Spaminator (Talk) 14:48, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Citation needed?

Hello,

You've just edited the page I am working on and I have a question (I think it's pretty obvious that I am new to doing this). You noted that a citation is now needed re: the founder's experience. I could put a citation to his bio on the Nation Consulting web site, but I'm trying to use independent, outside links. However, I don't think this exists anywhere else, so I'm kind of stymied here. Also, when I am fixing the things on this page and someone writes [citation needed] or [not in citation - we had one of those, which was incorrect] when I fix something, am I supposed to remove that note or leave it there? Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. I greatly appreciate it. MkeLaurie (talk) 14:59, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello, and thanks for contributing. Yes you can remove the tag once you add a reference that supports the claim made, but several of the references given in Nation Consulting don't actually mention the company or Mr. Nation. References need to WP:Verify what's stated in the article. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 15:01, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you! I saw your note in the history and then came here, so now I am on the right track (I think). I greatly appreciate your help. MkeLaurie (talk) 15:43, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the info. Still a work in progress, I think, but more headed in the right direction than it was. MkeLaurie (talk) 20:45, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Just to let you know, I've declined your speedy deletion nomination of Turbo Goth because there was a credible claim of importance in the awards and nominations section of the article. It may not meet WP:MUSIC notability criteria, but does make a claim of importance preventing deletion under WP:A7. Thanks --Mrmatiko (talk) 17:56, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

From your user page

Gus, The INTOR Workshop (1978-88) came before the ITER project (1985- ) and was an entirely different activity. So, the existence of an ITER page does not in any sense mean that there should not also be a page on the INTOR Workshop. Thus, I contest your quick deletion of an informative page on INTOR that I have prepared. W. M. Stacey — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.145.175.228 (talkcontribs) 16:40, 11 August 2011

deletion nomination of Roland Mohrmann

Hi Gurt, New to this and tried to create page from new smart phone - mistake. can you please reinstate. I think what is needed is following. reference for Roland Mohrmann => http://www.noz.de/lokales/56054638/mohrmann-tritt-an-als-einzelkaempfer also in the next days will be a link to his own profile site (currently being updated) => http://rolandmohrmann.blogspot.com/ will also be creating a more comprehensive German (DE) version on his behalf (awaiting text from Roland Mohrmann) many thanks, Stuart (Stuartbarnes (talk) 17:29, 12 August 2011 (UTC))

Hello Stuart, and thanks for contributing. I'm not an admin, so can't restore or delete anything, but the deleting admin User:Kinu can restore it to a WP:User subpage while you work on it. I'm happy to help you with this, as it appears he is actually quite notable - sorry for the misunderstanding. Please let me know if you want me to contact the admin to request undeletion. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 08:48, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Gurt, I would appreciate if you could contact Kinu regarding this. Also, do I need to create a new profile for him in German as the original copy I have is in German and I would like to use this also? Many thanks Stuart (Stuartbarnes (talk) 16:52, 17 August 2011 (UTC))

It's now been undeleted to User:Stuartbarnes/Roland Mohrmann. Creating an article on him in German is an excellent idea: Roland Mohrmann at German Wikipedia would be the place for that. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 07:03, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

G7 Records Inc. Deletion Warning

Hi, hope everything is well. I received a notice from you that was marked as a deletion warning on an article that I created titled G7 Records Inc.. Apparently there have been several issues I have had with meeting the Wikipedia guidelines. I have included more links to support the article and have attempted to write in a more encyclopedic style, but I am willing to further improve it. Kwajo Cinqo who was a member of a legendary Canadian hip-hop group called Ghetto Concept, is the President and CEO of G7 Records Inc, and his work has been very influential on the Canadian urban entertainment industry so I believed the article would be very informative of noteworthy Canadian hip-hop achievements. Please understand that the article is in no way created with promotional intent, however it has been flagged for appearing to promote G7 Records Inc.. Nevertheless, I am a new editor and I am eager to learn more on Wikipedia that will help me improve any articles that I create or edit. If you are able to assist me in improving the article or provide me with useful tips it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mmwater (talk) 00:59, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the article. I've re-written it to sound less promotional, and I've moved some of the information on Kwajo and Ghetto Concept to Ghetto Concept, since the references cited didn't mention G7. The article still doesn't indicate yet how G7 is notable per WP:Company, apart from its association with one notable band, so if you can find any significant coverage of the company online from WP:Reliable sources then that should be added. If you have any press clippings that can't be found online you could scan and upload them: please ask back here if you want a hand with that. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 08:37, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you so much for all your help, it really did help with the article. I included a bit more sources and content that may possibly be significant coverage of G7 Records Inc.. I will see whether I can find any clippings about the company if that would help, but I will continue looking for more reliable sources online. You have done more than enough and I appreciate it! If it's convenient for you to continue lending a hand in any way it would be great. Thanks a lot, Mmwater (talk) 16:32, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Science Fiction Theatre Records

Hi Gurt, thanks for looking at the page and your suggestions. I have done my best to be neutral and fair, citing references and being objectionable. If you have any tips as to how I can improve the page or if you feel certain sections should be omitted to comply with guidelines then please help me. I strongly believe this page is of relevance to the many unsigned bands that speak to us on a daily basis and I believe the label is notable enough to be included on wikipedia. It has been established for many years and continues to offer an important outlet for music much like any of the other independent record labels in the UK. Your advice and help is greatly appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michaeldcoates (talkcontribs) 12:11, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

It's not asserting notability yet per WP:COMPANY. Can you find any profiles of the company online? Most of the references cited don't mention the company. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 12:43, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
As per my comments in the AFD, there's no way this company is notable by Wikipedia standards. The references listed in the article don't offer significant coverage, only passing mentions, if not just listing it. That's not enough to satisfy WP:ORG I'm afraid.   ArcAngel   (talk) ) 14:18, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I believe differently, we have been part of the Manchester music scene for 6 years and have physical releases and a reputation to back that up, I don't believe the lack of an internet presence means something is not notable. I would appreciate an explanation as to why the following record labels do not appear to be under scrutiny despite them offering little or no information on the wikipedia page associated with them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SFT_Records / http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%26L_Records / http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D_Records / http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Different_Drum - These weren't hard to find, they were the first listing of each letter in the alphabetised list of independent record labels and I believe countless other examples could be found if I spent more than 1 minute looking. This page has been created as i strongly believe it is just as relevant as so many other labels on wikipedia that go unchallenged. I have been impartial, attempted to provide as many refs as possible and I believe informative. The official website had 50 hits yesterday alone from all around the world and our podcast which has been live only today has had 40 listens already. If you strongly believe this should be taken down then fine, I won't argue anymore, but please try not to belittle the status of this label when so many others go by without issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michaeldcoates (talkcontribs) 17:04, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

(Talk page stalker) I suggest that you make a contribution explaining your reasons why the article should be kept on the AfD page. When you do so, I suggest that you don't use "other labels have articles" because this won't be looked on too kindly. If you see other less notable articles then they should also be proposed for deletion or taken to Articles for deletion if they fail to meet the criteria. --Mrmatiko (talk) 17:18, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Saim Khan

Hi Gurt!Ayman Rahman (talk) 11:21, 17 August 2011 (UTC) The article Saim Khan has been nominated for speedy deletion. It has been told that it is a hoax. But it is not true. I have no partialty towards Saim khan. I have no connection to him. But as he represents our country there should be an article about him. Can I ask you what makes you thing he is fake??— Preceding unsigned comment added by Ayman Rahman (talkcontribs)

There's no mention of him online in English or Bengali; you credit him with starring roles in various movies where he did not appear; you claim he won Tulsi Sammans for films, etc. etc. It's not funny. Please stop. Gurt Posh (talk) 11:26, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Siavash Tizro

I just wanted to let you know that I salted Siavash Tizro indefinitely, rather than for a limited duration. I've never seen a limited duration salt before (though maybe I've just not noticed them). However, if at any point Tizro becomes notable enough to meet notability guidelines, just drop me a note on my talk page and I'll unprotect the page. Qwyrxian (talk) 11:30, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

I requested it temporarily, since Twinkle lists "temporary" and "indefinite" as options - maybe that's no longer possible, and Twinkle needs an update. Either way, if don't drop you an update sometime during the season that he's played in a pro match, then we know a guy who will. :-) Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 11:33, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

History of rent control in England and Wales

I have written a short description of my background in justification of my expertise (!) and to pass my thanks to whoever helped greatly with the editing and fomatting of the piece in my Talk notes. I hope you can read them as I suspect they are addressed to you. Many thanks Mortal8 (talk) 11:53, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Yes I spent some time this morning formatting it: glad you like the results. Thanks for contributing such a detailed article. Let's try to improve the referencing now. Gurt Posh (talk) 11:55, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

I am the author of this piece and this was my first contribution to Wikipedia. It was originally written as part of a guide for Rent Officers (described in the text)when I was a council member of the Institute of Rent Officers (described in the text), a member of their Education Committee and editor for many years of their quarterly journal. I mention this because it seems that some acreditation for the authenticity of the piece is required. Until I retired I was Chief Rent Officer for the City of Westminster and the City of London rent registration areas. I have updated the piece recently through contact with still-serving Rent Officers. I started to re-format it in Wikipedia style which was a pain. When I returned to it after a short break I noticed it had already been edited by someone else. I am extemely grateful to whoever has done this which has excellently captured my own intentions. Thank you. It does not seem to be Wikipedia etiquette to reveal the names of contributors and editors so I hope these few words of thanks will be read by who ever deserves them!

I shall now proceed with the Scottish version which is only in printed form and which will have to have optical character recognition treatment first. I might not have typed my four tildes Mortal8 (talk) 13:40, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Gurt, thanks for your message. Must admit, new to Wikipedia - in regards to notable sources for my first article, there are a list of media sources that have covered the topic on the topic's website (which, unfortunately, has been down for the last two days and still is so I can't access them). I will remove the page myself and will hopefully come back to you for suggestions on how to reference the article properly and to ensure it isn't biased — Preceding unsigned comment added by BarefootPA (talkcontribs) 08:23, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Du Daobin

Hello Gurt, I was wondering what else I could add to my article on Du Daobin to make sure it meets BLP guidlines, could you make any general recommendations? Or is this merely due to the contentious nature of the pending lawsuit? Kupojsin (talk) 13:03, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello, it's mostly quite well referenced. I've added two "citation needed" tags where there are unreferenced assertions, and where I can't find anything online in English to back it up: for example, I can't find anything supporting the assertion that he was a government employee and party supporter prior to Tiananmen. Sources for this may exist in Chinese: perhaps you can might find some online, or perhaps you know of some offline sources that can be scanned and uploaded? Please let me know if I can help with this. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 18:07, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Incoterms page

Hi Gurt Posh. Let's discuss about Incoterms page. As I mentioned I spent personal money and hours to make the information that costs normally 75 euro plus shippping available for free at wikipedia. Don't you think that I have a right to put a link on my web site in exchange for that? Also, it was not necessary to kill separate pages for 11 terms. They contain incormation from offiical guide of International Chamber of Commerce. Also note, that the rating of all articles was high and people found the information valuable. Thanks for reconsidering your decision and reverting my chnages. I am not sure what is the right way to communicate here Igorch (talk) 18:32, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for your contributions. Please have a read of Wikipedia:External links. Your contributions in nearly all your edits so far have centred around an external link to winglobal.ca - it looks a lot like Wikipedia:Linkspam. Despite your best intentions, these edits really aren't appropriate, and if I didn't revert them, I can promise you that another editor would. Please don't get discouraged, and I hope to see further contributions from you on international trade articles. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 18:52, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi, I understand your concern. I read the policies. Can you tell me what exactly I violated? My intention was only to link the content that I contributed to the original source. I don't know how much you are familiar with international trade but in 2011 new legal framework (Incoterms) is effective. There is no free source of information about it. So I decided to edit the page on wikipedia and create a graphic wall chart that makes the legal framework handy and easy to understand. As you may notice users appreciated the information and the page has high rating. International trade content that I created on the Internet is unique and relevant. Please let's discuss particular clauses of rules. Look forward to resolving this situation to a mutual benefit and the benefit of wikipedia readers. Thank you Igorch (talk) 19:11, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Insulated Tools

Hi, can you pleae review my comments for insulated tools on the page section.

The listing is far from spam, there is a lack of in depth knowledge about this industry of which i have tried to include within my submitted page. If you take the apple mac for example, which is a product, this page is listed without contest and the information and specifications similar in format. How would my page be defined as spam when in entity both are products, but my listing has more content about the standard surrounding the product to ensure maximum safety?

Kind Regards

Request to remove the proposed deletion of my article

Gunit31 (talk) 15:07, 22 August 2011 (UTC) Mr. Posh, The contents from my article 'Vertical thinking vs. Lateral thinking' are not a reflection of personal essay. The content has been derived with reference to the author Edward de Bono's book 'Lateral Thinking'. Please consider removing the proposal deletion of the article. Thanking in anticipation. Gunit Kaur S. Kalada

Hello Ms. Kalada, and thanks for your contributions. But as you say, the work is "derived", and mostly a personal reflection on De Bono's thoughts on lateral thinking. Content in Wikipedia has to be WP:Verifiable, and WP:Original research such as essays on a topic aren't suitable for inclusion here. Why not improve lateral thinking instead, with De Bono's research on the subject mentioned with references? Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 15:11, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi Gurt,

thank you for your reaction on my first article and putting it to my user place! best regards Joko — Preceding unsigned comment added by JokoP (talkcontribs) 10:09, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

First log into Indonesian Wikipedia, if you aren't already logged in. Then edit User:JokoP/Model keseimbangan umum multisektoral yang dapat dikomputasi so you can see its source, select all of it, then copy and paste it to http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_keseimbangan_umum_multisektoral_yang_dapat_dikomputasi, and save it. That way, the article will be there with your account name on Indonesian Wikipedia as the article's creator. Please let me know if you'd like any help with this. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 10:17, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Dominic Bruce

Hi Gurt As you can see my article on Dominic Bruce is progressing well. He's my dad, though no longer living. There seesm to be a little confusion on the use of post nominal letters. I looked up the rules for these and it would seem that they are allowed. Yet they have been removed. could you please comment? Thanks Dcnick (talk) 12:17, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Hello, and thanks for the article, it's looking very good. The post-nominal letters are still in the article itself (see WP:Manual of Style (biographies)#Post-nominal initials, but current guidelines discourage the use of titles and styles in the article's title (see WP:Naming conventions (people)#Titles and styles), apart from certain types of nobility where it's needed in the article's title for clarity (see WP:Naming conventions (royalty and nobility). Please feel free to ask back here if I can be of any help with your interesting article on this remarkable man. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 13:47, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for that. A lot of what I have written comes from personal recollection and family sources. The whole thing is a work in progress. More and more information is coming to light all the time. Most recently this notice has been appended " This article includes a list of references, but its sources remain unclear because it has insufficient inline citations. Please help to improve this article by introducing more precise citations where appropriate. (August 2011)" how does one indicate that there are no "sources" immediately available other than what one knows or that this is what one has been told by the subject of the page? For example Dominic's mother was awarded the BEM (British Empire Medal) by the Queen. I guess one day I will (or won't) locate the UK Government Gazette in which the award appears but until then it is a matter of personal knowledge, how should I indicate this? Thanks Nick — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcnick (talkcontribs) 09:24, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

All information added to articles on Wikipedia must be WP:Verifiable by WP:Reliable sources. Unfortunately, this means that personal knowledge, even that of which we are completely certain, isn't regarded as verification. So whatever you add about your father must have some sort of verifiable, WP:Secondary source. Now this isn't always readily available on the internet, but you can scan copies of press clippings and other evidence, and upload the scanned images to Wikipedia as verification. Please let me know if you'd like help with this. Yours, Gurt Posh (talk) 09:29, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

They haven't been deleted, I've redirected them back to the main article. Each was a one-line description of a strip, with no WP:References, and no indication of why the strip is WP:Notable enough to need a separate article. Please slow down, spend some time writing an article about one strip at a time with references from WP:Reliable sources. If a section gets so big that the main The Dandy article is getting crowded, then it might be a good idea to split it off into its own article. Thanks, Gurt Posh (talk) 13:36, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Dear Gurt,

I hope you are doing well. I am not sure why you have placed a copyright violation on my page, nor do I understand why you would want to delete such an important topic that is getting much attention. I am giving a lecture on it at UCLA this Oct. 6th. This is a real topic of many not so important topics already published on wiki. Please let me know what you are thinking. "Snark" and "treading on your toes" would appear to me to be elements of the en.wp Sociolect. I wrote "treading on your toes" because other editors used it to me, and I used it to other editors, with implicit mutual approval despite any established normative practice. I am reminded of Roland Barthes' The Fashion System where he applied the Structural linguistics concepts of langue and parole to clothes, where within the "grammar" of fashion, a particular "utterance" (ie: item of clothing) was either grammatically correct (ie: fashionable) or incorrect (ie: unfashionable). The same would appear to be applicable here. Within the "bricolage" en.wp langue, the parole "treading on your toes" is grammatically correct but "FFS STFU" is ... umm, perhaps am I over-thinking this, maybe just a little bit? Good call on the speedy rename of the category about local politicians in Norway.

DAR motion pictures

Please note that once a speedy deletion tag has been removed, it can't be re-added--the article would have to go through an AfD deletion. Of course, teh info being added to DAR motion pictures is unacceptable as promotional copy-vio, but that can be cured through reverting and, if necessary, blocking. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:20, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Note that the tag was removed by the reviewing admin after they also removed the copyvio: can it still not be re-added upon re-addition of copyvio? Gurt Posh (talk) 13:22, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

I don't want it to be userfied, nor do I want it deleted. What it needs is an interpretation by somebody who knowshow to speak German, and hopefully has knowledge of the subject matter. Sorry for the confusion. I was simply trying to get the stub created and expanded. If you go to the German article yo will appreciate its beauty. Thanks - my German is rather basic, so I suspect there will be lots of cultural reference and idiomatic usage that go right over my head in de:Hase in der Kunst, so I decided to let an expert translate that, rather than add my own comically bad one. :-) Gurt Posh (talk) 07:43, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

I was aware (as I am sure you are) that Google would translate the page. I was equally aware that there is a hell of a difference between a translation and an interpretation. This is going to be technical, historical and arcane -- no place for marginal (or non speakers) of German. On the way to getting involved in this article and updating Three hares, I got to learn something about the German wikipedia. As one might expect, they are much stricter on their rules and their references than the English version. Pardon the stereotype, but the Belgians make beer and put anything in it that has artistic potential and suits their fancy; the Germans have the Reinhetsgebot, the German Purity Law that mandates exactly what constitute beer. In any event, it is an article that will be an asset -- their is a lot of first rate work in it -- and of course we will suitably credit the German wikipedia. Keep in touch. 7&6=thirteen () 13:56, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Responding to editorial comments

Hi. I've just received a guideline from you concerning my username, NJSD Captain. First, thank you for your information. By way of introduction, I am a Captain with the Agency mentioned in the comments. Please be assured that there can be no other references to that title that reflect on any other person.

I am proud of our Agency's heritage and have posted information concerning it for everyone to peruse, with articles at: New Jersey Detective Agency, and New Jersey State Detectives. Both of these entities are non-profit government law enforcement organizations. Please note that I receive no renumeration or any other type of compensation for my work here on our articles. I have tried to be careful not to link myself personally with my work here; there are few people who possess the knowledge and specific information on this Agency that I have acquired through research and membership over the years.

Being a novice in producing Wikipedia articles, I am having some difficulty in negotiating the skill set needed to publish my New Jersey Detective Agency article professionally. I look forward to any assistance you may be able to provide or guide me to (I am nursing a headache reviewing all the help files provided).

I would be happy to provide you additional details concerning our Agency should they be of any interest or to clarify any questions on standing.

Again, thank you for your kind advice and patience. I can only imagine the workload you must labor under, and appreciate you refraining from excoriating me for my mistakes.

Sincerely, NJSD Captain — Preceding unsigned comment added by NJSD Captain (talkcontribs) 22:44, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of "Mind Warp"

I'm not sure this speedy tag was correct - Patrick Powley doesn't have an article, but Patrick Cowley does, and as his last album (completed whilst he was dying of AIDS), this seems pretty noteworthy. Skene House Hotelsuites deletion

Dear Gurt,

I am new to Wikipedia, and had created an entry on a hotel I know well. Because the hotel is only popular locally, it is hard to find relevant references, apart from a few news articles. Therefore, what I had written could be misunderstood as advertising, as based mostly on the hotel's website, as it is the main source of information. The main focus of the article was on the founder, Charles Skene, who is an entrepreneur here in Scotland. I would like your help in order to create a proper page for both Charles Skene and Skene House. How do you suggest I do this? Should I limit the details, and state simply verifiable facts? What is considered verifiable apart from news articles?

Best regards,

Flake and Flames

Hello Gurt. Can you please userfy the Flake and Flames page. Then I'll ask you to review it when it's more complete. The page is about a documentary film on the Kustom Kulture subculture. It's an independant production that deserves it's place on wikipedia. True I'm biased. I do have a couple of thousand people that will agree though. But of course it has to be done right, and tied in with the rest of the Kustom Kulture articles here. I just wasn't aware of the userfied/draft mode. It will take me a couple of months to finish. I just wanted to get started. Thank you for your help. (Jbram (talk) 19:02, 14 September 2011 (UTC))

Hello - I'm not an administrator, so the deleting admin (in this case User talk:RHaworth) is the admin to ask about undeleting and userfying. However, it was copyrighted text from your website, so you'll also need to sort out copyright: please see WP:IOWN for more info.
