Yep, sure, work away! I'm probably going to be busy for most of today (college work, and if my friend pulls through with a ticket - the match!) but feel to set up another MedCab case (I note Phil's given his approval and Steve's worked talked to some people about it). I still wanted Leinster to win, just would've been funny if it went to penalties! I'm rather concerned at the -- in my view -- excessive weight placed on "controversies" and alleged misconduct in the Garda Siochana article. I may take a stab at trying to redress the balance -- obviously it may be that some or all of the claims are true; but to have such things dominate the article (as it now stands) seems perverse. See:- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rossport Solidarity Camp, This is the pages WP:AFD, as you can see it was necessary for this to be voted on. The reasons for its nomination and subsequent deletion are pretty clear, it was basically a rewrite of some indymedia articles that were written by members of the camp. The content of the article was really inappropriate, more of a diary. You can request a deletion review but as I said theres not much that could be used from it. My own feeling is that you'd be better writing a section from scratch using appropriate sources to back it up but feel free to see if an admin will let you recover info. When an AFD is voted on, there are 3 options:- Keep, Delete & Merge so if the text is worth keeping, people vote on the former. Like I said it was a pretty poor paraphrase of indymedia articles. Well! Just as a note, it'd probably be a good idea to indent your comments on a talk page so they read in a hierarchical fashion. I fixed one of your comments on Talk:Glengad cos you replied to LP, but didn't indent, then Steve replied to LP but indented, and because you hadn't indented your comments previously, it looked like you'd actually replied to Steve - confusing! Speedy tagging

Hi. Two points about your speedy-tagging of Joe gillespie just now:

• the definition of db-nonsense, WP:CSD#G1, is very tightly drawn, more tightly thn the word "nonsense" suggests: "Pages consisting entirely of incoherent text or gibberish with no meaningful content". It wouldn't cover this, where there was a meaning, though a silly one. WP:CSD#G3, vandalism or misinformation, covers it better. There's good advice about speedy tagging at WP:10CSD and WP:FIELD.
• after tagging a page, it's worth checking the author's talk page and leaving an appropriate warning - usually the one provided on the speedy-deletion template. In this case, as the author seems to be a vandalism-only account and already had a level 3 warning, I added {{uw-create4}}, so if he does any more he can be reported to WP:AIV.

Definitely needs expanding but even with substantial history of published articles I cannot find any English references about him himself, and only a couple of Hebrew ones. I suppose that he is virtually ignored by the mainstream media and not controversial enough to make headlines. Hello, I noticed by accident after ending up in Category:Irish murder victims, couldn't remember it ever having existed before and subsequently discovered it was quite new. Perhaps you need something like the images here except that those versions have the newspaper's name all over them. I have found the Sunday Tribune to be useful for these kind of crime-related images as it was where I also found a photo for Philip Cairns before. The article quite probably fails the notability guidelines, however all that is required to avoid being speedy deleted is an assertion of importance or significance. The claim to being one of "100 latinos on the move" is a claim to significance and the list is almost certainly not a hoax[1]. A nomination for proposed deletion (or AFD if necessary) would be the correct forum for deleting the article, which I agree is almost certainly not notable and the above claim would certainly not be enough to avoid deletion there. Userfying autobiographies

Hi. I saw you userfied Samuel Terry Goold's autobio just now: that was a useful thing to do, but there are two follow-up actions to take:

• Add {{db-r2}} to the cross-namespace redirect which is left behind at the original article, so it gets deleted,
• Tell the user what has happened and why. There is a standard template {{Userfy warning}} for this, but I don't like it much and have worked out one which I cut and paste from a text file: you can see what it looks like at User talk:Samgoold, and you are welcome to use or adapt it if you like.

I sometimes think it's a waste of time userfying these autobios, because they almost never carry on contributing, but it is more friendly and less WP:BITEy than just speedying them, so it's worth the trouble. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 15:47, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

All articles related to Corrib gas controversy and the Shell to Sea campaign are placed under probation. All fall under 1RR, and a stricter rather than laxer interpretation of addition of and removal unsourced content.

Lapsed Pacifist (talk · contribs) is strongly admonished for edit warring and is topic banned, indefinitely, from articles related to the Corrib gas project, broadly defined. He is also subject to an editing restriction for one year, namely is limited to one revert per page per week (except for undisputable vandalism and BLP violations), and is required to discuss any content reversions on the page's talk page.

While GainLine (talk · contribs) is admonished for vandalising BLPs and sockpuppetry, he is also commended for desisting from early problematic behaviours and encouraged to pursue appropriate dispute resolution methods, and seek administrator intervention when required.

Non-compilance to any of the above editing restrictions may result in a block, up to a week in the event of repeated violations. After 5 blocks, the maximum block shall increase to one year.

Pat Kenny

I gave up editing that article more than a year ago as I've found plenty to be getting on with besides articles which are likely to be controversial or cause edit wars. However, any mention of anything negative regarding this person has a habit of disappearing, although sections which appears to treat him more kindly has remained. I am partially responsible for adding the content which is now under "Off-screen personality" and while I can see its use (as positive sources about this person seem to be rarer than negative ones) it should also be possible to include some of the more infamous incidents in his career as well. I don't think the content you added overall has any POV issues. No less than how Kenny describes his style under "Styles of Byrne and Kenny" anyway. I can see how there might be disagreements over use of bullet points, the title of the section maybe, the fact that it appears to unbalance the entire article but there does not appear to be anything wrong with what you added. It is both true and verifiable (and verifiability is all that is necessary) and you have verified it. Perhaps when the rest of the career is fleshed out it will be possible to add this information as I cannot see how it could be a featured article (if it were to ever get that far) without at least vaguely referring to some of these incidents. --candle•wicke 20:37, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Oh, quite. I remember being in Lansdowne for the first game of the 'modern' era - the victory over Scotland in the 2000 championship, coming a week after we were murdelized by the English team. Other stuff

Some of this stuff probably needs a little tidying up, as I often cut and paste stuff at the bottom (especially in the apartheid one).

This one's just about finished, and I have had to do some intense research to get the references etc: User:MacRusgail/Rugby union in the Soviet Union. Some of this material is going to be put into rugby union in Russia etc. Other east European articles - User:MacRusgail/Rugby union in Yugoslavia (i.e. pre-split Yugoslavia, just about ready, bar a couple of lines at the bottom), User:MacRusgail/Rugby union in Czechoslovakia (limited info), User:MacRusgail/Rugby union in the German Democratic Republic (extremely limited info and looking to expand. A couple of the important Berlin rugby clubs found themselves on the other side of the Iron Curtain I believe).

Very untidy just now, but I believe wikipedia needs an article on this subject: User:MacRusgail/Rugby union and apartheid

User:MacRusgail/Rugby union at the Pacific Games - a lot of info lacking, but presumably one of the bigger events, given the popularity of the game in the region.

User:MacRusgail/Rugby union in Iceland, limited info. There is some in Albania as well, but same problem. I've thought of creating these articles for the sake of completeness on European rugby. A couple of places, e.g. the Faroe and Aland Islands appear to have no rugby, but just about every other European country does.

A very rough page here - User:MacRusgail/Sandbox5 on rugby players who have played other sports (rugby-cricket, and rugby-other football codes are fairly well covered, but other areas aren't). It's all over the place, but hipefully you get the picture;. very much a work in progress.

Certain notable game administrators could do with better articles too. Japan's Shiggy Konno has a short article, but France's Albert Ferasse has nothing yet.

A few suggestions for the article. 1) All the non-rugby stuff is put into a biography section, 2) I know his wife was Louise, but it would be good to get a surname for her, 3) I mention Jock Wemyss in passing, and can get references for him... there were several other one eyed international rugby players, including a Frenchman who Wemyss played against in one game. 4) Sources seem to differ on whether it was a hand or an arm which was amputated, but I suspect he probably retained his upper arm. 5) We probably need to look at a history of Irish rugby as well.

"perhaps we could collaborate on other rugby union articles in the future?" - Aye sure, I'd be delighted to. Recently I've not been on wikipedia as often as I used to be, but I think there's certainly a lot of scope for improvement in rugby articles, particularly early players.

At some point, I'm going to expand Jock Wemyss. He has a couple of interesting stories... firstly, the poor sod lost one of his eyes in WWI, and found himself playing against a French player in the same predicament (I don't think the French player has an article, I forget his name though)... Secondly, there's the much more bizarre incident in which Wemyss after coming back from the war was refused a Scotland jersey by the SFU, because he hadn't retained his pre-war one. The Scottish Football Union (as it was then) was notoriously frugal and reactionary to the point of refusing to put numbers on jerseys etc... You got given one Scotland kit to play in, during your entire international career. Wemyss is an interesting one, for similar reasons to TGG.--MacRusgail (talk) 23:45, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
