Katharine Jefferts Schori

[edit]

Category:Bishops of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America is a subcategory of Category:Anglican bishops, since all ECUSA bishops are necessarily Anglican bishops. Katharine Jefferts Schori is in Category:Bishops of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America; she should not also be in Category:Anglican bishops. The Wednesday Island 00:09, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why not ? otherwise we can delete the category:Anglican bishops, because each anglican bishop is part of a specific anglican church in a subcategory GLGerman
See categorisation guideline 3. If we allowed articles to exist in both their category and all its supercategories, then the supercategories would get insanely crowded. Subcategorisation is a way of organising articles; this would defeat that organisation by turning Category:Anglican bishops into an enormous grab-bag of names. And where would you stop? Would you also add her to Category:Clergy and Category:People and so on up the ontological ladder? \
This doesn't imply that supercategories should be deleted, even if they contain only other categories: they are still useful as a help to find your way around the organisation.

Please go over your edits about the Evangelical Church of Bremen on the article's talk page first. Cheers, –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 00:51, 10 November 2006 (UTC) the word "liberal" was part of the article since the beginning and an IP_Adress vandalised it and now you are doing the same. California Domestic Partnerships

[edit]

It would not be proper to refer to these as "civil unions"; California law specifically calls them "domestic partnerships." However, California DP's offer many of the same rights and benefits as the civil unions offered in other states.

At the moment, we have same-sex marriage in Massacusetts; civil unions in Vermont and Connecticut; domestic partnerships in California, Maine, and New Jersey as well as the District of Columbia; and reciprocal beneficiaries in Hawaii. But New Jersey will also have civil unions beginning in February, 2007. Hope this helps. Textorus 09:30, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

interesting, thanks.GLGerman 09:34, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Domestic partnerships in New Jersey

[edit]

GL, you should not have renamed this article as "Civil Unions in New Jersey" because the state will continue to offer domestic partnerships. Existing same-sex DP's are not required to sign up for civil unions; they can remain as domestic partners. Also, no new same-sex DP's will be allowed, but DP's will still be available only for opposite-sex couples over age 62. So the article needs to remain as a separate category of legal relationship.

Go read the discussion of this issue on the talk page for "Same-sex marriage in New Jersey" to get a better understanding of what has just taken place in that state's laws. Textorus 09:39, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

But on the other side, Textorus, there is the new law for civil unions after Corzine signed it now and that´s so the future in New Jersey and not domestic partnerships; so it´s better to have an article over "civil unions in New Jersey".GLGerman 09:45, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GL, you are not understanding the situation. From February 2007, New Jersey will have BOTH civil unions AND domestic partnerships. Separate articles are needed. Textorus 09:49, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

i know that but therefore should not be two articles; that can be written in one article. And for gay partners in the future civil unions are more better and so the article name should be "civil unions in New Jersey" and not "domestic partnerships in New Jersey".GLGerman 09:54, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, GLGerman~enwiki, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles of interest to the LGBT community. Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve LGBT-related articles, so if someone asks for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • If you're planning to stay, have a square in our quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

Thanks for Welcoming, very nice. GLGerman 15:44, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome :)
Please consider joining the Translation Department at WP:LGBT - there are at least a couple Good Articles that we'd love to "import"! – SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 17:57, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Issue III - February 1, 2007

Announcement: If someone requests help or feedback on an article, please try your hardest to help them out if you are able. Thank you.

Project News
  • The LGBT Portal has once again been revamped and a work rota started. Efforts towards Featured Portal status are slowly coming together.
  • The assessment system has been a great success, we have tagged over 4000 articles! Please tag any LGBT related articles you come across by adding {{LGBTProject | class=}} to the talkpage. Please see the Assessment Department for how to assess an article according to the grading system.
  • The Translation department has changed its focus, to LGBT articles about non-English topics and people on which there may be more information on the relevant foreign Wikipedia. Please add your name if you are fluent in any language other than English.
  • Jumpaclass is picking up slowly, with nine people having entered. With over 2000 stubs we need to improve our article quality. Please sign up and get it going! Challenge another user to see how far you can jump a stub!
  • There is an ongoing discussion about the current LGBT categorisation system here, here, and a little bit here. A special page has now been set up here to deal with this.
  • A Watchlist has been set up to monitor controversial and/or highly vandalised articles. It can also be used for article disputes, just add a note explaining the nature of the dispute.
  • With the influx of so many active members, there is now enough support for a LGBT studies peer review, which may be found here. It's in the beta phase at the moment, so bear with us if we make any mistakes. Feel free to peer review any articles you have been working on.
  • It was agreed this month to start reducing the uses of the Notice board, as many members felt that it was not effective. An open tasks template has been created, bringing together important announcements, FAC/FARs, Peer reviews, XfDs, the COTM, and requested articles. You may desire to watchlist it. A Deletion sorting subpage is also now working to bring together XfDs - this should be bot-driven, but we have not currently tagged enough articles to make this fully automated, so please update the list with any LGBT-related XfDs you come across.

WP:CIVIL - KPA gilt auch hier

[edit]

Please remove your defamations about me and my work on the German Wikipedia as well as those on other users from your user page. All negative comments violate against WP:CIVIL, some may even reach the level defined at WP:ATTACK. If yout attacks aren't removed within the next seven days, I'll request a comment on your conduct.

--jergen 20:31, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After 13 day without answer I removed the questionable and insulting content from your user page. If you reinsert it the WP:RFC will start. --jergen 20:00, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So you should inform me on german wikipedia, because we know us very good. GLGerman 05:57, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
on german wikipedia i discussed often with you and most you are on the "wrong" side in my opinion. You are an evangelical, conservative user and so you and i have often on german wikipedia discussion in different themes. GLGerman 06:02, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So give me first a hint on german wikipedia before you revert my useraccount again. You have no right to work there ! GLGerman 06:06, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
GLGerman 06:06, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed negative comments on other users again. --jergen 09:15, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So if you think that you are correct you can try that, but your opinion is wrong. I asked already some people here. You can try if you want and we will see what here on english wikipedia happens. I read that english wikipedia is more free than the german wikipedia. So we will have also a nice time here. And you should not try to work on my user page. WP:LGBT Coordinator Election Notice

Jergen

[edit]

IMO, I don't think there's anything wrong in simply listing people you have had unpleasant experiences with - however, the unilateral removal of content from a user's page without said user's permission is still a contentious issue that has been brought up on AN/I several times now without consensus. I don't think he was right to do so, and I certainly don't think your lists are contravening WP:ATTACK. If he does it again, bring it up at WP:AN/I and they'll probably deal with it. You certainly have my support, Btw, don't ask people to vote either way in an RfA, it's called canvassing and is frowned upon here. I would oppose him anyway on account of his dreadful punctuation, but all the same, best not to do it.

On a somewhat unrelated subject, can you tell me why WikiProjekt Homosexualität is so dead? It seems like it had been thriving until October and now it's totally inactive. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 11:18, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have to look at de:Portal:Homosexualität...there you can find more of the new changes and new articles (http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Portal:Homosexualit%C3%A4t/Neue_Artikel&action=edit), wich german users write. But you are still right, we have on german wikipedia not so many users who write for homosexual themes than i see here on english wikipedia.
Some of the new writers of gay themes on german wikipedia are "kicked out" by "evangelical-conservative" people. These new writers/users get angry about reverts from evangelical/right-religious people and then these new gay supporters make mistakes and so admins can delete there accounts on german wikipedia.
We have on german wikipedia not only the users of Germany (Germany is real more liberal in gay themes than Austria). There are also real right-conservative catholics users from Bavaria and Austria (and Austria and Bavaria are nearly like Texas (the difference between Texas and Bavaria/Austria is that Bavaria/Austria have mountains"). You know pope Benedikt is from Bavaria and i think you know how hard the vatican and the pope fight against gay couples. So we have a strong fight with some supporters of Ex-Gay, roman-catholic pope Benedikt fans, ... ). So i hope you can understand what i want to write. But my english isn't so good to find the right words to express it in real good words.
So thanks for your information. And okay i will do what you wrote me. It would be very nice, if you can have a lokk on my userpage, because i work more on geman wikipedia and i am not so often here on english wikipedia. My English isn't so good as it should be, so that i write more on german wikipedia. I am good in translating from english into german texts, but not so good in writing in english language. GLGerman 02:32, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. If that's a major problem, it sounds like we need to build a nucleus of bilingual German users here and then hit the Projekt simultaneously (I say we, my German is somewhat limited to saying I have a wardrobe in my room and I enjoy playing football. :) ) - might take a while. Oh well, what's life without challenges, eh? We'll see. In the mean time, if you're into translation, you could translate our FAs into German if you like. The Wikiprojekt will keep. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 23:31, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sur we can but on german wikipedia we have a lot of trouble with the evangelical admins user:jergen and user:irmgard who kick out homosexual themes and do their best to angry promoter of homosexual themes. GLGerman 21:55, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Being an admin is irrelevant. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 22:01, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure you are right, but i just got an kick out in the article "Bible and Homosexuality" on german wikipedia after an editwar with admin: Irmgard. GLGerman 22:05, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If a user is abusing their admin powers, then they should be reported to either AN/I or at Meta so appropriate action can be taken. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 19:20, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
the problem is more that we have with user:jergen, user:irmgard and some other users a good communication between a group of german, evangelical, conservative admins on the german wikipedia....GLGerman 09:56, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just for the record: de:Benutzer:Irmgard used no admin function but requested a page protection due to ongoing edit war. Page was protected by a neutral admin. Later GLGerman and a third user were blocked by another admin for 6 hours due to a perceived edit war on the talk page of the protected article. There might be some doubts about this edit war, but these two users do have a history of mutual edit wars and both have been blocked repeatedly for this - so several admins do have their hand on the trigger when they read these names). de:Benutzer:Jergen did not abuse his admin powers either: he reported today an obvious personal attack by GLGerman on me in the correct place, and GLGerman was blocked for 12 hours by the same neutral admin as on 2nd March, which was seen as rather too short a period by two more admins (which are not Evangelical either). Irmgard 15:02, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh interesting that you also post here Irmgard...very interesting to see that. My last edit here on english wikipedia is a report of what happens on german wikipedia over the last months and you are the most active evangelical promoter of consevative topics, which are often against homosexual themes and if persons look on which articles you translate from english to german wikipedia each wikipedian really knows what you are promoting on german wikipedia. So i really want to know for which organisation you work. GLGerman 15:06, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Are you still telling lies and flaming about other users? Please stop this nonsense immediately or further action will be taken against you. --89.14.34.78 09:11, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A couple questions for you on Dirk Bach:

  • In the article it says that Bach worked on Sesamstraße, but that's not listed in the Television section. Also, that listing could be pared down to the few most important rather than the whole list.
  • Do you have a reference for when/how he came out? We can't really just leave the statement in there, there has to be a citation.

Looks good! Now on to the next one :) – SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 21:08, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For Sabine Jünger:

  • Where did she go to school? Was she studying theology and then legal science at the same school? Or did she change?
  • Again, we'll need a reference for he being openly lesbian.

[edit]

On Benedict Friedländer

  • Do we have a reference for his being gay? It actually doesn't say he was in the article, though it's strongly implied.

Thanks! – SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 21:23, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ernst Burchard

[edit]

Looks very good! Did some copy-editing for grammar (German and English differ widely in that respect). This article also doesn't specify that he's gay or provide a reference, though it's strongly implied. It would be better to state it outright, with a ref, though. – SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 01:06, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Felix Rexhausen

[edit]

Took a look at Felix Rexhausen, too. Looks pretty good, though the list of works could be shortened. And it would be better to have a ref (maybe even from one of his works) that he was gay.

Thanks, by the way, for all your work on these! Nice job! – SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 01:34, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello GLGerman! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 5 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Johannes Friedrich (bishop) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Zwischenraum requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Lionel (talk) 05:26, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
