Overview
[edit]The project coordinators are generally responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serve as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues. They are not, however, endowed with any special rights or executive powers.
The Deputy Coordinator positions exist to give people experience in the job before the current Lead Coordinator position comes up for reelection. This May 2007 election will serve to fill the Deputy Coordinator positions only.
Responsibilities
[edit]From Wikipedia:WikiProject LGBT studies/Coordinator:
The primary responsibility of the project coordinators is the maintenance and housekeeping work involved in keeping the project and its internal processes running smoothly; this includes a variety of tasks, such as keeping the announcement and open task lists updated, overseeing the assessment and peer review processes, managing the proposal and creation of task forces, and so forth. There is fairly little involved that couldn't theoretically be done by any other editor, but as often as people tend to assume that someone else is doing whatever needs to be done, it has proven beneficial in other projects to formally delegate responsibility for this administrative work to a specified person or group.
Some more specific examples of day-to-day coordinator work can be found here.
Election process
[edit]- The election will run for one week, starting at 00:00 (UTC) on May 5 and ending at 23:59 (UTC) on May 11.
- The election will be conducted using simple approval voting. Any member of the project (including those who join after May 5) may support as many of the candidates as they wish. The top three candidates with the highest number of endorsements will become the next three Deputy Coordinators. Just sign your name and the time under "Those supporting Candidate X" to record your vote.
- Both project members and interested outside parties are encouraged to ask questions of the nominees or make general comments.

SatyrTN
[edit]- I have no clue how the next three to six months will work out in RL, but I would like to be considered for a position as Deputy Coordinator. I enjoy being a WikiFaerie, so the duties fall in line with what I like to do. SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 16:44, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Fireplace
[edit]- I didn't initially add myself because I'll be busy-ish with exams through mid- to late-May, but after that I'll have plenty of time. I'm perfectly happy doing housecleaning work (e.g.), so I think I'd enjoy the job. Fireplace 00:51, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Comments and questions for Fireplace
[edit]- Of your contributions to the LGBT WikiProject, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- I've been the principal contributor to the current versions of reparative therapy, Adi Nes (created), Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007 (created), Hate crime laws in the United States, Richard Cohen (lecturer), and about 30 Donizetti articles (I guess that counts, for the opera queens among us). I revert vandalism, delete trivia, and slash unsourced material from controversial articles. My cutting original research has killed off several OR/content forking pages like !fluid sexuality, !choice and sexual orientation (now a redirect), and !situational orientation.
- What task(s) would you see as a priority were you to become one of the project's deputy coordinators?
- I like doing peer reviews and assessments, general organizational cleanup, and I'd like to be involved in task forces. Particularly, given the rate at which people are turning to wikipedia as a news source, I'd like to see a news taskforce that would, for example, make sure that when the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007 is on the front page of the New York Times website, the article gets written quickly and linked to other pages (that example was my Thursday afternoon project).
