Syed is part of name

Hi there, as your recent edit on Syed Jawad Naqvi, you removed the surname “Syed” ... Syed is name not title... if you want to remove syed from the name then remove “syed” from all article for example Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, Syed Ali raza rizvi , Syed Aqeel-ul-Gharavi, Syed Sibit Hassan Naqvi and all which contain syed surname.... So kindly moving the page , first discuss on talk page...thank you DrMosaviSyed (talk) 05:57, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

Hello. Please see WP:CONSENSUS, and discuss the name prior to moving again, to establish consensus on what name the page should reside at. EggRoll97 (talk) 20:24, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

I am Elizabeth Helgelien and I corrected information ob my wikipedia page and for some reason it keeps getting changed back to incorrect information Getitright2024 (talk) 00:10, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

@Getitright2024: If you are indeed Elizabeth Helgelien, you should not be editing on a page that you have a conflict of interest with. You can read the relevant policy at WP:COI. EggRoll97 (talk) 00:12, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
why dont you want correct and accurate factual information on Wikipedia? Getitright2024 (talk) 00:14, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
@Getitright2024: If the information is accurate and correct, you should be able to back up your assertations with reliable sources. Given that you have failed to do so, the changes you made to the page you claim is yours are not acceptable. EggRoll97 (talk) 00:15, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
ok where do I submit the factual information/evidence? Getitright2024 (talk) 00:17, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
@Getitright2024: You can include it with your edit using the {{Cite}} template, but given that you have a declared conflict of interest with the article subject (by your own claim of being the subject yourself), it may be better to file an edit request. EggRoll97 (talk) 00:24, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation

Hi, please could you reconsider your close at this page? MOS:RETAIN is very clear that changes in established English variety should not be made without ties to a particular country. I disputed this move already, and this sort of thing just sows division for Jo good reason. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 07:25, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

@Amakuru: I've taken another look at the closure and MOS:RETAIN, stating in part, When an English variety's consistent usage has been established in an article, maintain it in the absence of consensus to the contrary. I don't see any consistent usage for "organisation", and in fact it appears the article and sourcing present in the references section utilizes "organization". In addition, the discussion had unanimous consensus to change the article titling to "organization" from "organisation" with no objections. EggRoll97 (talk) 01:52, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
I see, thank you.  — Amakuru (talk) 16:05, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

List of years in Georgia (country)

Would you be willing to consider a relist of this RM? The two late supporters suggest the discussion is continuing, and there may not really be a consensus. They also brought into the discussion a related RM that is still open. Also, one of the opposers invoked me (the nom) as a reason for their oppose, which merits clarification. Cheers, Mdewman6 (talk) 21:42, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

@Mdewman6: I'm willing to give it another run, I've reversed and relisted. EggRoll97 (talk) 02:15, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks! I just think this is a case where making the distinction between whether this is truly a "not moved" or if there is really no consensus is worth the extra time for discussion. Mdewman6 (talk) 17:42, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

CSD G13s

Hello, EggRoll97,

You are tagging drafts for CSD G13 speedy deletion too early. Please look at the page history. It has to be six months since the last human edit and we go by the date and time. CSD tags have been removed from drafts tagged before they expired and now they will not be eligible for G13 for another six months. Please do not tag drafts for CSD G13 speedy deletion before they are eligible to be deleted or it just postpones their deletion until March 2024. Thank you. Liz Read! New pages patrol newsletter

Hello EggRoll97,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Query

I see you've closed a requested move for Draft:While We're Young (Jhené Aiko song) to pave a way for an article by saying that it can go through AfC approval, my apologies but I don't think that was a way to go and as a NPR I believe you checked the draft's notability and if it is suitable to be in main space or not and even if it wasn't it can be AfDd or draftified. So are you suggesting I submit the draft to AfC approval or...? dxneo (talk) 12:49, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

@Dxneo: An objection was lodged by a fellow NPR that the article did not meet WP:NSONG, seen here. The article still needs work before being included in mainspace. EggRoll97 (talk) 17:36, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
As I recall, a certified record is a criterion for notability thus can be stubbed, it states here that "a stub should contain enough information for other editors to expand upon it" of which I believe the above mentioned draft have. I have asked an admin about this matter here. I could have created the article directly in mainspace as I'm "autoreviewed" but I obviously could not, also would have expanded the page (a little) but I was held up thus I stubbed it, Robertsky, your thoughts on this? dxneo (talk) 18:12, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
Coming back to it again, not opposed to moving (though I still have lingering doubts), but would like to hear Robertsky's opinion prior to doing so unilaterally. EggRoll97 (talk) 00:57, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
I was taking a stricter interpretation of the various NSONG criteria, i.e. Has been ranked on national or significant music or sales charts. (Note again that this indicates only that a song may be notable, not that it is notable.), with emphasis on the may be part. My take is that for the stub to stand, there is at least one other non-database source. Nonetheless, if there are other who thinks it can pass in its current form, sure go ahead and move it. – robertsky (talk) 05:36, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
Hello robertsky and EggRoll97, I believe now the draft meets the minimum requirements listed under WP:NSONG, I was wondering if you could please move it and also make way for Draft:Sativa to Sativa (Jhené Aiko song) while you're at it. Thank you. dxneo (talk) 12:52, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
@Dxneo: @Robertsky: Moved both to mainspace. EggRoll97 (talk) 14:03, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
Thanks @Dxneo. I have also given my green ticks, and done some slight clean ups. The chart tables seem funky, and I can't figure what's wrong with the table when comparing to the documentation of {{single chart}}. – robertsky (talk) 14:28, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
Robertsky, thanks, I just noticed that when I added the cover art, I also don't see the problem with the template and parameters 'cause when I turn to visual editor it looks fine but it still doesn't stick. dxneo (talk) 14:33, 16 October 2023 (UTC)

The copy patrol has already been reviewed as "no action needed" due to the external site being a wikipedia mirror", and the copyvio template you have put was done against policy due to there not ever being a copyvio. PaulGamerBoy360 (talk) 00:54, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
The copy patrol was reviewed by you, which is problematic given that you clearly have a conflict of interest as the article's creator. EggRoll97 (talk) 01:03, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
except for the fact that i actually reviewed both pages and followed policy, when marking it as no action needed because policy states that if the "copyvio" is for a wikipedia mirror it does not qualify as a copyvio, and the page literally says that the article is from wikipedia. Pinning false positives sections

I don't think you need to mark the private hits as pinned - the page is patrolled frequently and the bot shouldn't be archiving the sections that are unresolved and have only been open a short period. It just adds a bit of extra (human) processing to see that the note is just saying that the section needs to be addressed, rather than about the filter it itself. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 04:19, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

@DannyS712: Apologies. I started pinning when a few reports got moved to archives without any response. I noticed them when I was working on other reports around them, but didn't notice they hadn't been responded to until they'd been moved off the report page already. One example of what I'm talking about is this. Happy to stop pinning if they're getting responses now though. EggRoll97 (talk) 04:32, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
Hmm, I'll go tell the bot to hold off on unresolved threads for 3 days instead of 2 DannyS712 (talk) 04:35, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

Medici move

I am asking about your move of Cosimo III de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. Five people objected, some strongly. Four supported, one semi-supported. That seems pretty contested. How would you call that "consensus to move"? The instructions for RM closing are to default to the stable page when no consensus is reached. This page has been stable for 15 years. Where did you find consensus? Walrasiad (talk) 02:58, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

@Walrasiad: I would remind you that discussions are not a vote, and policy and guidelines generally are given more weight in such discussions. While your argument in opposition to the move, as well as others, was based primarily upon WP:NCPEER, other editors were able to make relevant references to the article titling policy as a whole, WP:SOVEREIGN, and specifically also referenced the more common name for the article subjects. While numerically the discussion was a closer call than some, the arguments of the supporters were more grounded in policy than arguments in opposition to the move. In addition, valid arguments against the applicability of WP:NCPEER were also raised, specifically that it is explicitly about British peers, not sovereign grand dukes. EggRoll97 (talk) 04:57, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply.
They were mistating the criteria misleadingly. There's nothing "exceptional" about British peers. The criteria in WP:NCPEER explicitly refers to European peers: "Treat other European nobility like British nobility above, adapting for local circumstances; thus Philippe II, Duke of Orléans.". So I don't see why you consider the assertion that it only applies to British dukes and not Italian dukes to be valid. (And BTW, these are not sovereigns - they are fiefdoms and vassals of the Holy Roman Empire, vested with imperial vicariate decrees, and owing tribute and troop contributions to the Emperor down until 1806. e.g.).
I don't want to re-argue the details here. But if the criteria is questionable or ambivalent, that doesn't seem to be sufficient for deducing "consensus". It was contested, and vigorously so. Even if you don't think there's consensus against the move, clearly there was not a consensus for it. If you found it narrower than usual, as you admit, default should have been to retain the page as is. Walrasiad (talk) 05:53, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
@Walrasiad: Thank you for the response. I didn't mean to imply that the discussion itself was an overall close call. My meaning was that while I did find that there was consensus to move the pages, strictly counting the !votes would be a close call. However, that doesn't imply a consensus not to move the pages. I of course respect that there were some who were quite passionate in their opposition, but ultimately there were stronger arguments in support of the move. If you found my closure out of process, I encourage you to take it to move review, but I respectfully stand by my closure of the discussion, and my assessment of consensus. EggRoll97 (talk) 08:42, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
You say you didn't find a "consensus not to move". But that's not the criteria. If there is "no consensus", then the page should remain at its most stable title. I am asking where you found a "consensus to move" rather than "no consensus". Walrasiad (talk) 19:13, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
@Walrasiad: I did not say I "didn't find a consensus not to move". I said I found a consensus to move, based on policy arguments already laid out in the discussion. Once again, if you still believe my closure was out of process, I encourage move review. EggRoll97 (talk) 20:47, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. I thought I had done all the steps, but evidently I forgot the last two. Walrasiad (talk)

After reviewing your request for the "accountcreator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:

  • The account creator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
  • The account creator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the account creator right will result in its removal by an administrator.

Question about abuse of edit filters

I plan to be an edit filter helper next year on February or March of 2025, intending to assist with authoring filters using my basic knowledge of filter syntax. There is one question for me whose answer I might need to know: what is abuse of edit filters that's listed on WP:EFH?

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

Hello EggRoll97,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

On IP 62.31.29.48 talk page

Information icon Hello, I'm The Master of Hedgehogs. I noticed you reverted my edit, citing WP:BITE and WP:AGF. I use RedWarn, and if you go to warn a user with RedWarn, it states that level one warnings, like the one I applied, assume good faith. I wasn't intending on BITEing the IP, and they had received a welcome message from another user a long time ago. If you have any concerns, reach out to me on my talk page. I have a quick request regarding an edit filter

Hello,
For the Rcat filter (1298) could you make it add the redirects to a maintenance category through the filter? Would they be removed when rcats are added?  Thanks Geardona (talk to me?) 12:10, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

@Geardona: I don't see any way to have the filter explicitly do that. It seems like a task for a bot though, to just add the category automatically to any page hit by the filter, then remove when an rcat exists. I'll look into it later in a bit more detail, but I'm not seeing any way to do that at the moment, given that the filter generally only affects the edit itself, but can't actually manipulate a page directly. (It can disallow an edit, it can tag an edit, but it can't modify edits or modify pages.) EggRoll97 (talk) 14:04, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
Ok, no problem! Geardona (talk to me?) 14:21, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
