Page deletion - Our Cousins in Ohio

Dear Eagleash,

I'm sorry to hear about your health issues: I hope they are moving toward resolution. I just submitted my first Wikipedia article and accidentally submitted it twice in two different ways. Thank you for deleting one of them. If you are up for it, can you help out this newbie with a couple of questions? First, is the remaining article (Our Cousins in Ohio) now a full active entry, or is it still subject to some review? I don't see any indications of a probationary period, but that seems very fast, since I just submitted it last night. Second, since submitting it, it has occurred to me that I should not have chosen for my Wikipedia name something that would lead so directly to my identity (address, phone number, family, etc.) in the real world. Is it too late for my Wikipedia name to be changed?

Thanks again for fixing that problem, thanks in advance for any help with those two questions, and best wishes for recovery: you are clearly a great asset to Wikipedia. DrDonUlin (talk) 17:13, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

@DrDonUlin: Thank you for leaving me a message. I really should amend that health issue message. It's a little out of date now.
The page in mainspace — I'm not certain of the sequence of events here, but you are entitled to create pages in mainspace if your account is WP:AUTOCONFIRMED. I have had a quick 'clean up' along the same lines as I did with the page in userspace. The page is still subject to new page patrol and any other issues should be identified then. Pages are not very often rejected via NPP but are more typically 'tagged' for any maintenance issues. As far as the 'draft' at User:DrDonUlin/Our cousins in ohio is concerned, this should probably be deleted. You can request this yourself by adding {{Db-g7}} to the top of the source. This will request speedy deletion which usually takes only a few hours. Leave an edit summary something like 'req CSD G7 (own); page exists in mainspace at (link the page) Our Cousins in Ohio'.
As far as the username is concerned, you can request a change to this; see WP:UNC and follow the additional links there. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 17:44, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
Thank you so much for the suggestions you have made for the wikipage of "Joanna Yvonne Wilson". I am brand new to wiki and I am very grateful to you for looking my page over. I have resubmitted, thanks to your edits. Fingers crossed!

I just wanted to say thanks! OanyBee (talk) 18:44, 28 January 2020 (UTC)

@OanyBee: Many thanks. I note that another editor has done a fair amount of 'clean-up' at the page and identified some areas to improve. I would recommend looking over their changes for future reference. Please ask for help if there's anything that's not clear. The teahouse is more designed for newer editors but there's also the help desk and the articles for creation help desk. You can also ask for help by placing {{help me}} on your talk page and someone will drop by to try to assist. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 23:01, 28 January 2020 (UTC)

how to move draft?

hi there my sandbox review was declined because i had already accidentally created a draft page last week for the sandbox prematurely which i now don't know how to move back to the sandbox position. i don't mean to keep re-submitting for review but i'm unsure how to move back to sandbox so i can continue to edit and then send THAT page to review instead of the other sandbox i created. ---- — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abbieatgrade (talkcontribs) 16:19, 30 January 2020 (UTC)

@Abbieatgrade: Hello and thankyou for youir message, there is a sandbox draft at User:Abbieatgrade/sandbox/Shygirl as well as the draft at Draft:Shygirl. Duplicating submissions can cause confusion and take up other editors' time. I copy edited the sandbox but then found that there was a draft in existence and also that another editor was reviewing the sandbox at the same time. I note that some improvements have been made to the draft and I have CE'd it a bit again and also added an infobox. You should continue to work on the item in draftspace and submit when you consider it to be ready for mainspace. I would recommend reading WP:NMUSIC for details of the notability criteria for musical topics (also WP:GNG for general criteria).
With regard to the sandbox; I think it is best if this were deleted. You can do this yourself by adding {{Db-g7}} to the top of the source which will produce a pink 'speedy deletion' notice which is normally effective within a few hours. YOu can then continue to develop the draft until it is ready. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. @DarthBrett78: Thank you for leaving me a message. Unfortunately I do not believe any of those links can be considered reliable sources. Facebook pages are specifically mentioned at WP:UGC and the others appear to be fansites or personal 'blogs'. As such they would not be classified as 'reliable' as there is little, if any, editorial oversight. What is need is a mainstream source; for example BBC or one of the better quality newspapers. Pontifical Biblical Institute Library

Adam P. Wisniewski (talk) 08:12, 13 February 2020 (UTC) Dear Eagleash. Thank you very much for your help. The content of the voice "Pontifical Biblical Institute Library" has many authors, but only one editor (me). We tried to be objective in write this voice. The scope of this voice is not a publicity and so on, but rather fill a gap of information about this institution. that's all. I would like to ask you about the possibility to improve this voice. Thank you agaim. Ps. The user DGG accepted yesterday this voice.

@Adam P. Wisniewski: Thank you for leaving me a message. I note that DGG recently accepted the page. However, there are some rules and conventions which now need to be complied with. Firstly, please read WP:COI and make the necessary declarations at the article talk page. (I can do this aspect for you if you wish). Secondly, and this part is mandatory under the terms of use, you *must* read WP:PAID and make similar declarations. What is covered by this is detailed at that page. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 08:22, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

Adam P. Wisniewski (talk) 08:41, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

@Eagleash: Dear Eagleash. Thank you for your quick reply. Are you happy for me to help me with these two questions COI and PAID? I'd like to explain that I'm not be paid for create this or another voice by anyone, everything what I do is for a love of free information in my free time.

Thank you for your comprehension.

@Adam P Wisniewski: OK, I can assist with the COI aspect. First though we need to clarfiy your connection. Note that you have the same username as the current director of the library. If this is not you, it should be changed to something else to avoid 'impersonation'; if it is you then please consider whether you would want your identity revealed to anyone who can read this site (edit histories are visible to anyone who clicks on the tab at the top of the page). If this is you then there is a clear conflict of interest and it should br declared but will need your confirmation as to the precise connection. When it comes to WP:PAID, please clarify whether the creation of the page is something that it is a part of your duties or whether it is something you have done of your own volition and not under the instruction of your employer. Please note that where there is a conflict of interest, you should not edit the page directly but make requests via the article talk page; see Template:Request edit for how to do this. A conflict of interest is a manageable issue if handled correctly and the requirements are not necessarily a reflection upon you, but just one of the ways in which Wikipedia tries to ensure neutrality. Please note, your signature goes at the end of your message. Eagleash (talk) 09:19, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer newsletter February 2020

Hello Eagleash,

Source Guide Discussion

The first NPP source guide discussion is now underway. It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.

Redirects

New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.

Discussions and Resources
Refresher

Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

Noctivagus

Hi User talk:Eagleash, you can find the notability about the international gothic rock band Noctivagus, Criteria for musicians and ensembles, 10, 11, 12, 9, 2, 7, I rename the article, Thanks! Best regards --Darwave81 (talk) 19:11, 16 February 2020 (UTC)

@Darwave81: Hello, and thank you for leaving me a message. If those numbers in your post refer to the criteria at WP:BAND, then sourced content should be added / included in the article to demonstrate that they are complied with. There is no mention of chart performance for example (a key criterion in my view). If they have won a competition or are the subject of (not just one item in) a major documentary, this also needs to be demonstrated in the article. The other criteria also need to be demonstrated. The article needs to show – with reliably sourced content – that the subject meets the criteris. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 19:54, 16 February 2020 (UTC)

Eagleash (talk) forgive me, but I really do not understand what you are recommending for example chart performer I put another fixed link(old link) top 20 chart. I know is difficult to find demonstration about bands from the 90 (without internet) but I did So. maybe it's better to help me to find what links or references are more important for the English Wikipedia. We are talking about a band that are in 8 Wikipedia language.--Darwave81 (talk) 22:24, 16 February 2020 (UTC)

  • Note: It looks as though the page was incorrectly moved to mainspace, back to draft at review and subsequently deleted, re-created under a slightly different name deleted again (as subject of an earlier XFD) and there now exists a draft under an incorrect 'dab' containing all the errors previously corrected. Nope; can't help here now... Eagleash (talk) 22:20, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
  • Note: The page Noctivagus was subsequently protected but was recreated as Noctivagus (band). Moved to mainspace after being declined at review and subsequently sent to AfD here. Eagleash (talk) 13:06, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

Trevor Taylor (Racing Driver)

Hi, Eagleash. I created an account today so I could edit my grandpa's wikipedia page to reflect that he is not dead. I did see the multiple obituaries that were published in 2010, and I have no idea why those exist. Nobody writing any articles about him seem to realize that he moved to South Africa and remarried in the 1990s. I was on vacation with our family with him just a month and a half ago. I know this is unsourced but I feel like he deserves to have an accurate Wikipedia page, and I'm not sure how to make that happen. Hwhiting1 (talk) 20:10, 17 February 2020 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Hwhiting1 (talkcontribs) 20:04, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

@Hwhiting1: It is not easy to believe that four of the most respected UK publications in general news and motor sport news should all contain the same major error and that it should have gone uncorrected for a decade. Without coverage of him after the dates of the obits, it's going to be hard to show that the information is wrong. Is there any coverage of him in more recent 'local' news? As mentioned, Wikipedia reports on what has been written in reliable sources with editorial oversight and verifiability not truth is one of the core policies.
As a side note there is a system where persons who are subjects of articles can contact our OTRS team (via 'contact page' on the left) to verify their identity and request changes but this would have to be done by the late Mr. Taylor himself as 'proving' your own identity does not appear likely to help much. Eagleash (talk) 22:42, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

I suppose that likely a single source reported it and it was spread among the other outlets that same day without journalists making a proper verification. The articles seem to borrow a lot of text from each other. I have no idea how they got the idea that Trevor had a "long battle with cancer" and died in 2010, it simply isn't true. It is mistifying though, as Trevor has not lived in the UK for decades and he married my grandmother in South Africa about 25 years ago, another detail which all outlets have failed to note. I don't see any reason why he would have been in local news coverage in Johannesburg, sadly, as he has been retired for quite some time. I also can't see him caring enough about his page to try to prove his identity, so I guess I will have to let this one rest. Hwhiting1 (talk) 00:19, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi Eagleash,

You reviewed the page My Suicide Story back in November. Today a Wikipedia user nominated it for deletion, after nominating another page for an unfair speedy deletion, when it should have been put up to a vote. It seems there may be a bias with this user. I was wondering if you could weigh in by supporting your decision to review this page. Thanks!! Hidden Hills Editor (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:38, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

@Hidden Hills Editor: Thank you for leaving me a message; I do not recall any previous involvement with the page and I do not see anything in the page history or in my page curation or review logs. I don't feel that I can add anything to support the page. This sort of topic is not something that I have very much, if any, involvement in. On another note, please don't WP:CANVASS other editors, this may not work altogether in your favour. Please sign your posts by typing *four* tildes (~~~~) not three as the date / timestamp is of importance. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 19:26, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Hello Eagleash,

My draft "Hein Koh" was recently denied by you on the basis it was a duplicate of another article under the same name. However the linked article is a completely different draft from a different user back in 2019. The only thing in common with this draft and mine is the name. Should I change the name of my draft? Thank you for taking the time to read this here's the link to my draft page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:ART401wp/sandbox&oldid=942663885. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ART401wp (talkcontribs) 26 February 2020 (UTC)

@ART401wp: It seems you have now moved (or copied) the content of your sandbox draft to the existing draft article and it has been rejected again. In the normal course of events it is not a good idea to copy and paste content from one location to another, but if you created the copied text it is not so much of a problem. (See WP:CWW for more information). My immediate instinct is that the draftspace item should continue to be developed if possible and the sandbox item should be cleared or deleted. @GermanJoe: Cheers Joe! I was indeed responding at the talk page. I got a 'not found' message when previewing: pressed 'reload' and it went to a revamped message from OP (with my response attached) which I now realise was at HD. Eagleash (talk) 09:59, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

Mr Heineman

I have finally been home and checked my library on Mr George Heineman, and I found some decent detail on the chap. He even played for Man City! I've put in what I can find, which is a birthplace, a couple of extra clubs and a little bit of detail. No exact date of death, unfortunately. One thing though, was that Orient sources all spelled his name with an extra 'n', i.e. Heinemann. A bit of German blood, perhaps? Or a typical Orient typo, haha... Stefano Ianne

Hallo Eagleash. I wrote the page in question: Stefano Ianne. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Stefano_Ianne I would like to know if it is well written and how to publish it thanks --Hotgarrison (talk) 17:56, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

@Hotgarrison: Thank you for your message. The draft has been cleaned-up and copy-edited by myself and other editors. If you think it is ready for mainspace, place {{subst:submit}} at the top of the markup. This will submit the page for review. However, prepare to be patient as there nearly 3,000 drafts awaiting review and it can take weeks if not months. Before doing so, please read the music-related notability guidelines (also the general notability ones.
On another note, just for future reference, it is not considered good practise to ask similar questions in multiple locations. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 21:07, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Ok, thank you very much --Hotgarrison (talk) 00:02, 14 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi! I made some changes to the article on Vincent Cross and wanted to see if it passes the requirements.

Thanks! V

Songboy2 (talk) 18:43, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

@Songboy2: Hello, and thank you for leaving me a message. I'm afraid that the sandbox draft falls short of Wikipedia's requirements. The most important point is that it contains no proper sourcing. Biographical articles cannot be accepted into the encyclopedia without referencing and citations need to be placed inline (see instructions at WP:REFB). There is little in the draft to indicate that the subject can pass the notability guidelines, (see WP:NMUSIC and WP:GNG for more information). Wikipedia requires referencing to multiple independent, reliable sources. I would recommend finding some Wikipedia articles on similar topics and looking at how they are laid out and structured and also a review of WP:YFA and WP:MOS. Please note that the text should not contain external links.
On a separate note, please do not remove declinature notices and / or review comments, these form part of the review process and provide information for subsquent AfC participants. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 09:50, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

This is my first authored wiki and I hope I've adequately responded to your edits. If not, please let me know what needs to be done next. It's TIME SENSITIVE due to the COVID-19 pandemic to get factual info and experts out there.

Terrimellow (talk) 18:51, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

@Terrimellow: Hello and thank you for leaving me a message. I note the draft has been declined by another reviewer. I think I would have done the same. The greatest difficulty with the draft is that there are not enough independent references. Most, if not all, of the citaions included to date seem to be *by* Monto rather than *about* him. What Wikipedia requires to establish notability, is in-depth coverage of the subject in multiple independent reliable sources. The encyclopedia has little, if any, interest in what a subject has to say about themselves. Notability is established by virtue of other people having written about him at some length in reliable sources.
I have tidied the draft somewhat... almost every reference had an error message (mainly dates...months should not be sbbreviated and need capitalisation); there are still some refs where caps are required for his name. A ref name is only required when the same ref is used more than once. This person may ultimately be notable but the draft needs to demonstrate that and there is no deadline as far as Wikipedia is concerned; notability can be gained over time but not usually lost. @HCAmidwest12: Hello, you cannot remove material and in particular referenced material without providing an explanation in the ES box or at the article talk page. If you are a family member, then you have what Wikipedia calls a 'conflict of interest'. As a result you need to read WP:COI and make the necessary declarations. You can then make requests for edits at the article talk page. See Template:Request edit for how to do this. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 09:11, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

add the references on and put it back to where it was in 2009. most of the info is false and we cant have it on HCAmidwest12 (talk) 09:14, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

@HCAmidwest12: Please make the COI declarations and then request changes at the article talk page. You also need to change your username; names that imply corporate or shared use are not permitted. See WP:UNC. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 09:23, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

Which declaration would I use? its a embellished article and full of fake jobs HCAmidwest12 (talk) 09:25, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

@HCAmidwest12: At the conflict of interest page there is a heading "How to disclose a COI" – click here to be taken directly to that section. There, you will see "Connected contributor template" click on 'show' and the template will display. Copy and paste that template (all that's within the double curly brackets) to the top of the article talk page. Delete all the italic text within the template but *nothing else* and replace your username with your actual username. Then save the talk page. I will check it later for you to see if there are any issues with the formatting. I think you also need to read WP:PAID (this is mandatory under the terms of use) and again make declarations where appropriate. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 09:47, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your answer! Thank you for the fast answer to my question about a speedy review on Wonho (singer) and you asked to clarify who I meant by "we" when I said "we would me grateful". I wrote the article for a new artist and by we I meant "me and other supporters of him". I do not have any connection to the person I wrote the draft for so no COI is happening. I am just someone who thought it would be understandable for this artist to have a Wikipedia article so it could contribute to the whole of human knowledge. Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice

Hi Eagleash, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.

Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

I have looked at the page and I cannot see that any further sources have been added. All I can see is a hatnote relating to disambiguation and date / language templates per this edit. Hi, hope you're doing well. You've tagged Shahid ur Rehman to notability issue-related pages. What is the actual cause for adding notability template, so that i can improve this accordingly? Thank you! TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 03:22, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

@TheBirdsShedTears: Hello, and thank yoi for your message. My concern is that the criteria at WP:NAUTHOR may not have been met. In addition, all the references seem to be obituaries; these are often written from a perspective that is favourable toward the subject and even if wholly reliable do not always go very far in establishing notability. Eagleash (talk) 04:16, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! So can it be draftified? I don't want my article creations be deleted as 6 (1 recreated) have already been deleted that has impacted my article creation. I always try to be a good editor, however at some point, i am not understanding all the guidelines outlined by the Wikipedia. I am still learning about how Wikipedia work. Thank you! TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 07:44, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
@TheBirdsShedTears: Yes the article can be returned to draftspace if that is your preference. That would at least give you the opportunity to develop the article with less chance of interference and add more information and sources. Please let me know if you would like me to do that for you. The page *may*, in the opinion of another reviewer, be acceptable but ideally, more is required. Eagleash (talk) 16:05, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
Please return this draftspace without adding a "deleted" mark at this page next to the said article. Thank you! TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 16:13, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
@TheBirdsShedTears:  Done As far as I am aware moving the page (and deletion of the resulting invalid redirect) will not produce a 'deleted' mark against the page. Good luck with it. Eagleash (talk) 17:44, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

You reviewed my AfC draft 1 day after I submitted, can you also review my other draft that's been on the waitlist for 3 weeks?

Hello, you reviewed my draft on "Trade-at-Settlement" 1 day after I submitted it for copyright issue, which I will rewrite once it's been settled. Could you also review my other AfC draft Draft:LME Aluminium, which has been on the waitlist for 3 weeks for some reason? Best, Eric.c.zhang (talk) 16:31, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

@Eric.c.zhang: Hello, and thank you for your message. Three weeks is not an inordinate delay in review. The current backlog is relatively low at less than 2,000 submissions but even this can result in delays of up to five weeks (please see the note to this effect in the review notice). There is also no guarantee that any page will be looked at within the indicated timescale. Submissions are not reviewed in any particular order as reviewers are volunteers the same as any other editor. Submissions in userspace (e.g. in a user sandbox) can sometimes be looked at quickly purely because userspace drafts appear before the main list of submissions at WP:AFC. However, unless a fairly serious problem (such as copyright issues) is identified, the protocol is that the submission be moved to draftspace. Copyvio is a 'quickfail' and should not be moved to draft. With regard to Draft:LME Aluminium I have not been able to check for any violation, due to apparent failure of the checking system. I would suggest that you prepare to be patient and if any content has been copied from elsewhere urgently re-write it in your own words. If this is the case, please confirm when you have done so in order that the offending content can be revdel'd. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 20:44, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

Request on 06:43:12, 21 June 2020 for assistance on AfC submission by EllenShnidman

Hello Eagleash. You recently declined to review my submitted article at User:EllenShnidman/sandbox/Diffusing_Alpha-emitters_Radiation_Therapy_(DaRT) because I had a duplicate article under the same name. The recent submission was on june 17 and the duplicate draft was on April 7. The April 7 draft was just for practice purposes, and I should have deleted it before submitting the final draft on June 17. Excuse me for this oversight, I am new at Wikipedia. If you don't mind, I will now delete my April 7 practice draft. Could you then review the June 17 submission? I appreciate your swift consideration of my submission on June 17. Thank you. Best, EllenShnidman.EllenShnidman (talk) 06:43, 21 June 2020 (UTC)

@EllenShnidman: Hello, and thank you for leaving me a message. Once the duplicate item has been deleted, please resubmit the later draft by clicking the blue button in the declinature notice. The use of different accounts *may* be an issue though. Good luck with the draft. Eagleash (talk) 09:45, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
@EllenShnidman: In addition, there is nothing to stop you resubmitting the later item anyway. I have placed a note re deletion of the draft. The issue I had was that the sandbox could not be moved to draftspace (which is where it should be) because of the existing item. I would not typically review medical-related items – it's a specialist area as far as Wikipedia is concerned. Sandbox submissions tend to get picked up quickly for logistical reasons and the current average review time is about five or six weeks. Eagleash (talk) 09:57, 21 June 2020 (UTC)

Helen Hills draft

Thank you so much for reviewing the Helen Hills article! I'm supporting Bewilderedgreatspot to create her first article. I wonder if you'd be able to review the changes she's made, and approve if possible? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Helen_Hills Thank you so much for your guidance! ConwayDigi (talk) 13:30, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

@ConwayDigi: Hello, Thank you for your message. I have looked at the changes and there seems to be some improvement. However, the matter is a little out of my hands due to the copy-vio issues. (Wikipedia takes CV rather seriously!). The CV investigation is still in process and when completed all revisions which contained CVs will need to be removed from the page history so they are no longer visible. This is a process known as WP:REVDEL. The page cannot be accepted until that's done. It will then be possible to submit for further review. Eagleash (talk) 16:54, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

175.33.* editor

Not really sure what to do about this, other than remain frustrated :) They continually add references that are broken in the same simple syntactical ways. They've not engaged with others trying to find out if they have some disability or are just being lazy or ... The reason its frustrating is that they say they work hard to get it right, but there is usually no evidence of that (or at least capability of understanding the relatively simple syntax and analyzing a problem, given the hint in the error messages). They also don't seem willing to revert their broken edits until they can figure out what's wrong, which makes those pages appear worse until someone is put to the impossible decision of ignoring the error and leaving it or fixing it and giving the IP editor their way (the ability to break something routinely and have others fix it at their request, which is essentially a demand with nice language, given the situation). The common wisdom seems to be to ignore them in the hopes of necessity being the mother of invention. I suggest we try that to see if it works. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 12:42, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

@AlanM1: This has been going on for about five years and their 'logged-in' account page has multiple copmments about their competence levels and there was an ANI which had no result. Multiple editors have tried to assist and / or asked for an explanation. Despite the account, they more often edit whilst 'logged out' (multiple IPs). It has largely been felt, I believe, that the editor is a net positive (?) and HD volunteers have usually fixed the edits. (If they don't, in the past, the editor has found a helpful contributor and gone to their talk page). It is comparatively recently that editors have taken a stronger line on occasion. Personally, although I *do* find it frustrating (annoying even) I don't necessarily object to fixing their mistakes. However, the lack of engagement or little if any, improvement in their skills is of concern. Do not know what can be done about it either; it is my experience that ANI do not see this kind of low-level nuisance as a problem despite WP:CIR. *Someone does something; it isn't right; someone else improves or fixes it; collaborative project.* Regards. Page does not appear

An article I created is not appearing when searched on google..can you explain me why Shahoodu (talk) 07:13, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

@Shahoodu: New pages are not indexed by Google until they have been subject to 'new page review' or 90 days, whichever is the shorter period. Eagleash (talk) 07:17, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
If you are a new page reviewer, please kindly review the List of Kerala Blasters FC Seasons Shahoodu (talk) 07:22, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
@Shahoodu: I am, but attempts to 'jump the queue' are generally not viewed favourably. There are nearly 10,000 pages awaiting review. The current rate of review is abouit 5,000 per week. There is no deadline as far as Wikipedia is concerned. Eagleash (talk) 07:53, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
So if 90 days are over will the page automatically get approval? Shahoodu (talk) 07:57, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
@Shahoodu: No, but it can then be indexed by search engines. Please indent your replies using ascending numbers of colons as I have now done here. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 08:05, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

(edit conflict)@Last0933a: Thank you for your message. I note that I posted messages about content not suitable for Wikipedia which appeared both in your sandbox and in draftspace. If you do not understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia which reports on notable topics then you are probably wasting your time even trying to contribute at all. I do not have access to the content as it has now been deleted but from memory, it had little content or context and in the case of the draftspace item was proposed for deletion by another editor. As indicated in the message at your talk page, if you would like to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia please study the links provided and maybe consider the tutorial. If you just wish to write things on the internet you would probably be better off with one of the social media sites or a free web-host such as Wordpress. Wikipedia, however would be pleased to receive your useful contributions. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 13:25, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

A kitten for you!

Hey,

You dropped me a message on my talk page saying that I am essentially putting the information that I want to put in an a new article into my user page instead. How do I make an article?

Thanks.

Christopher McLaren (talk) 09:30, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

@Christopher McLaren: Hi, thank you for the kitten. Many editors will tell you that creating an article is the hardest thing on Wiki... in many respects they are right, there are so many traps and pitfalls that new editors can fall into. First of all please do not write about yourself; Wikipedia reports on what has been written about a topic or subject in independent, reliable sources; subjects of articles need to be notable in the Wiki sense (see that page for more information) and also (as you seem to have an interest in music) the notability guidelines at WP:NMUSIC. Autobiographies are discouraged and may not always be a good idea. A basic guide to creating an article can be found at WP:YFA and the guidelines to correctly adding citations are at WP:REFB. Wikipedia will always welcome articles about valid subjects even if they need a lot of work to get them to acceptable level. Good luck. Eagleash (talk) 09:47, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

I must be missing something!

Well, this is another one that I must be missing! When a draft is in the "No sections" cat, if I just wish to rmeove it from there but feel unable to offer a review, what do I need to do, please? Fiddle Faddle 11:14, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

@Timtrent: Hello Tim, all that's needed is to 'fix' the headings to level 2; I.e. the double equals sign (==) or sometimes just adding the refs. sect. is enough. Newer editors will use any combination of apostrophes, italics, 'big', underlines etc to create sections it seems! I don't know your way of finding drafts but if you go via CAT:AFC it's the last category in the right hand column in the section above the main alpha drafts list. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 11:31, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

review a draft Article

Hi, Eagleash Good Morning. Please can you review a draft article on [here]. I hope its pass WP:NSOLDIER & per WP:MILPEOPLE. In Bangladesh his Murder issue trending news thousands of news available on Bangladesh and internally. I request to you please help this article. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 43.231.23.254 (talk) 00:58, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello, thank you for leaving me a message. I have looked at the page and it is much improved. I have tidied it a little more. It's a little out of my normal field but I think it may well be acceptable per the 'N' guidelines. However, we cannot state categorically that he was murdered by any particular person or group until and unless the case has been proven via the legal system; so that part of the draft will need to be re-written — at least one of the sources uses the word 'alleged'. This *can* be taken to mean that the person making such a statement is aware that it might not be accurate and of course it seems that the matter is still under investigation according to the HoS. In addition use of tabloid papers like The Daily Star should be treated with caution per WP:RSP#Sources. Eagleash (talk) 06:01, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

How can I add an image on my article?

Hello Eagleash it's me again, I was wondering if i could add an image in my article? If i can, how can i do so? Thank you in advance. Ognjen Cicic (talk) 21:32, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

@Ognjen Cicic: Yes images are welcome; the best way is to use an image you have taken yourself; that way you own the copyright and avoid any issues in that respect. The image needs to be uploaded and preferably to 'commons'. — Click on contributions at the top right of any page, then click on 'uploads' just under the main heading and then 'Wikimedia Commons'... again, just under the main heading. You can then click on 'upload file' on the left and the upload wizard should take you through the steps including licensing. Once completed, you will see a link by the Wikipedia logo in the middle of the page to 'use this file on a Wiki'. Place the image in the infobox using |image = and add a caption using similar caption parameter. But; do not include square brackets or image size or the word 'file' in the image link; just Image = xxxxxxxx.jpg. Another caveat; please be aware that you will be licensing the image for use by others although it has to be attributed to Wikipedia if used elsewhere. A picture of your grandfather in his playing days might be best but there could be copyright issues if taken by someone else, even a family member, although in the latter case that might be possible to overcome. Easier than it sounds! Ask if you need help. Eagleash (talk) 21:49, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I'm Nathan2055. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Tim Ellis (engineer), and have marked it as unpatrolled. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you.

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Nathan2055talk - contribs 21:35, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

@Nathan2055: I do not recall 'curating' this page but may have marked an earlier change or revision of it as patrolled (not necessarily the same thing). I'm not sure I would mark it as reviewed if it came up via NPP now. Probably needs some improvement. But, if you undid the green reviewed 'tick' I would be interested in your reasoning. Thank you. My page quality is C and it is reported as spam

Draft:Pavel Trusov (edit | [[Talk:Draft:Pavel Trusov|talk]] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Dear Eagleash,

I would like to ask for your help. Here is a page I’ve made for a coach who is a Guinness world record holder https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Pavel_Trusov#Pavel_Trusov.

When visiting this site https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:AfC_sorting/Culture/Sports it says that the class of my page is C and in the notes section it says that the page is “possible spam”

Is this something I have to worry about? Are there any changes that I have to make? Would you recommend anything?

I am new to Wikipedia so I’m sorry if I’m bothering you however I’d like for everything to go smoothly.

Thank you in advance for your response and I hope you’re doing well.

With best regards,

Vlad Vladdikusarov (talk) 01:51, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

@Vladdikusarov: Hello and thank you for leaving me a message. To tell the truth I've not seen that page before, but I do not think that there is too much to worry about. I would think that the number of external links in the content may have triggered a fliter of some sort and thus caused the entry on that list. ELs within the text are not permitted and these should be removed as soon as possible. Also, punctuation goes before the references like so: text.<ref>xxxx</ref>. I note you say *my* coach. If you have a connection with the subject of an article you edit, you need to read WP:COI and make the necessary declarations. At the conflict of interest page there is a heading "How to disclose a COI" – click here to be taken directly to that section. There, you will see "Connected contributor template" click on 'show' and the template will display. Copy and paste that template (all that's within the double curly brackets) to the top of the article talk page. Delete all the italic text within the template but *nothing else* and replace your username with your actual username. Then save the talk page. This is not a reflection upon you but just one of the ways in Which Wikipedia tries to ensure neutrality. I can add the disclosure notice for you if you wish. C-class is relatively high for a new article; most would be *start* at most and possibly *stub*. Cheers Eagleash (talk) 03:34, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

Page review

Hey Eagleash,

Thank you for the help last time. I’ve listened to your advice and have removed links to external websites. Although I haven’t removed one external website which is the athletes website. Is it okay or do I have to remove that as well?

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Pavel_Trusov&oldid=974727028

You’ve also said something about punctuation but I haven’t gotten my hands on that yet so would you say my page has a Wikipedia quality or is there something I need to fix?

Thank you for all the help bud! Vladdikusarov (talk) 16:46, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

The page looks as if it could be accepted. It is in the review system. However, there is currently a possible wait of 2 months (or more). Please prepare to be patient. There are a rather a lot of . links in the external links section still. Any that are in the text as a reference should not be duplicated there. The athlete's own website is fine to be included in the ext links section but not in the text. I have tidied the draft a little, again – I had already placed the punctiation in front of the references. Eagleash (talk) 19:45, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for helping me with the page and giving me more feedback. Really appreciate the time you've dedicated to me. I’m new to wiki so your aid is very valuable to me.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mark Chou requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 1292simon (talk) 09:26, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

@1292simon: Not mine; this looks like another of those annoying instances where I've moved a sandbox draft to draftspace and the 'creator' has then come along, removed the re-direct and started a new draft in the sandbox. It's always worth checking the edit history for this sort of thing (I've found). Cheers Eagleash (talk) 09:43, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
Oops, sorry about that. Nonetheless I hope you find the link about writing your first article to be helpful! (joking) Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 09:47, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
@1292simon: Haha... It'll show up in my list of articles created (XTools, or whatever it is) with a little red 'deleted' next to it. I've noticed other reviewers moving without leaving a redirect; must look into that. Eagleash (talk) 10:02, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

I've always found after creating a new article that the Wikidata page if it soesn't already exist or is not linked at the time... it somehow happens without my doing anything anyway. Eagleash (talk) 09:41, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
@Kerrieburn: On another issue (and this will affect the 'data' item). The page name should be whatever version of her name she was more commonly known as or reported reported about. I.e. if known as Liz, then the pagename should be Liz Boase with the fullname (without the diminutive) as the boldname. Bill Clinton is the best-known example. The wikidate item should match the pagename usually, with alternatives added in the first segment under 'AKA'. Eagleash (talk) 10:12, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Walton Adams draft

Thank you for reviewing Draft: Walton Adams! I've been able to replace the ancestry.com references with newspaper references. I hope that works! Thanks for your guidance. KerstingFan (talk) 10:33, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

@KerstingFan: Hi, if I remmeber rightly you replaced Ancestry with the Daily Mail. That is actually probably worse in Wikipedia's eyes. See WP:DAILYMAIL for more info. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 10:44, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi! I replaced the date of death information with a citation to the Scotsman. The DM provided a passing reference to WA as a photographer of Royalty, and connection to his son. But noted on the guidance, thank you! KerstingFan (talk) 11:03, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

@Abbas Kwarbai: Sorry, I'm not sure what you are asking here. Eagleash (talk) 02:06, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

Okay Sir, what I'm asking is, when article is published, it is categorized into sections such 1967, alumni of Harvard university, living people etc. So, Linda Iheme article isn't categorize into that. Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 05:25, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

@Abbas Kwarbai: OK; the page has not yet been placed into any categories. Technically there's no reason why it should not be so now, but the review process is not yet complete and categories may not be added until it has been patrolled. Eagleash (talk) 08:57, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

Hello sir, please why is it this article "Linda Iheme" is not categorize, and is approved since three days ago. Abbas Kwarbai (talk) 21:08, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Eagleash. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Victoria Romanoff second submission".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! —Nnadigoodluck🇳🇬 00:26, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

@Nnadigoodluck: This seems to be yet another instance where I've moved a draft from someone's sandbox... they've then come along and erased the redirect and begun a new page which then shows me as the creator as the first edit on the page is the creation of the redirect. It is always worth checking the history when nominating; especially as Twinkle can be relied upon to get it wrong. Another editor may be wondering where their draft has gone... Eagleash (talk) 02:28, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

Your draft article, User:NoviSadrzaji/sandbox

Hello, Eagleash. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "sandbox".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. — JJMC89(T·C) 05:55, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

@JJMC89: Hello, I think this must be yet another of those instances where I've moved a sandbox to draft thus creating a redirect. The owner of the sandbox then comes along removes the redirect and starts another article; this is an increasing problem it seems and of course Twinkle doeasn't check itself to see if it's got it right! Eagleash (talk) 06:10, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
Close! You created it after it was moved to draft. In any case, it was published at Miodrag Skrbic. — JJMC89(T·C) 07:35, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
@JJMC89: I cannot tell what happened there or what edits I made to the page, but it does not seem likely to me that I would create a page called 'someother username/sandbox'!? It looks to me as if I was working on CE'ing the sandbox draft and whilst I was doing so another editor moved it to draftspace (moved 2 or 3 minutes earlier); I must have saved it but what content it had after doing so is any Admin's knowledge... Eagleash (talk) 10:16, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
Yea, just some copyediting when it got moved. It was then declined, the same as the draft was initially. — JJMC89(T·C) 04:35, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

Hi. I moved this article to draft this evening as is it an unattributed machine translation of pl:Stanisław Szembek. I'm surprised you passed it unchanged at AfC with such a poor translation and without the required attribution. Regards --John B123 (talk) 22:16, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Stanisław Szembek, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Morawica.

Can you restore my sandbox

Eagleash I accidentally submitted a blank article and tried to move. Finally I redirected my page and everything is messed up. Can you reverted some of edits and get my user sandbox.please.(WhiteFalcon1 (talk) 10:36, 20 September 2020 (UTC))

@WhiteFalcon1: Your user sandbox is here. If you mean any of the several empty or test type pages created, which may or may not have been deleted, then no, I cannot restore them. You would need to contact the deleting Admin. and also convince them that there is a good reason for their restoration. I would not recommend creating similar pages in the future. If you would like to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia then please follow the links in the welcome message at your talk page and the tutorial may be a good place to start. To begin a draft article on a notable subject you can go via WP:AFC or WP:WIZ.
Your message seems to have a different intent or purpose compared to the ES. You can revert your own edits and or mark any pages for which you are the sole editor for deletion by adding {{Db-g7}} to the top of the 'markup'. You can start again from 'scratch' as it were.
Finally; do you have any connection with another account? It is not against the rules to have more than one account but it must be declared and not used unconstructively. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 11:11, 20 September 2020 (UT
@Eagleash I don't have any other account. But what happened to me is that I redirected my sandbox and when i am trying edit in my sandbox i can't do it. Because i messed up with redirection. Can you help me with this.(WhiteFalcon1 (talk) 11:20, 20 September 2020 (UTC))
What error message are you getting when you try to edit? Eagleash (talk) 11:24, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
@Eagleash my user sandbox page is redirected...and also blank page without a space to create an article. Can you revert that redirection which i made please. This is my user sandbox page now Draft:WhiteFalcon1/sandbox .please look into this (WhiteFalcon1 (talk) 14:26, 20 September 2020 (UTC))
That is not your user sandbox that is an item in the draftspace which needs to be deleted. Your user sandbox is at User:WhiteFalcon1/sandbox. If that redirects to User:WhiteFalcon1/sandbox1 then click of the (very) small bluelink just under the main heading (where it says 'redirected from'): should take you to your actual sandbox which you can then edit as you wish. Please don't try moving pages until you've had a bit more experience; it's easy to muddle it up and can take a lot of work to sort out. Create draft articles via the means advised above and study the guide to article creation before doing so. You should request deletion of User:WhiteFalcon1/sandbox1 by placing the code as noted above at the top of the markup. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 17:07, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for working on Keith White

I agree my COI could be considered to be small, but I felt it to be important to keep separate from the article once Keith moved from being a person I had met to a friend who entertained me on his yacht and visited me in my home. One cannot review at AFC and dabble in COI areas. Or I cannot.

Keith was an interestng person with the build and tenacity of a terrier and a determination to succeed at all he attempted. In the days of the priate radio ship Radio Caroline he ran supplies in his fast motor launch the Abri, outrunning the custims and police on more than one occasion. Abri was a Harbour Defence Motor Launch, now decayed into a houseboat, or perhaps past that.

What caught your attention about the article to make you work so hard in it? Fiddle Faddle 12:56, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

@Timtrent: I'm not sure how I came by it or how I somehow knew it was an interest of yours. I noticed 'is' which should have been 'was' which led me to the i/bx dates. I just fix things! Well somtimes... I quite like boats... millions of years ago I worked for a 'then' well-known yacht chandler in London. Eagleash (talk) 13:36, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
Captain O M Watts, perchance? I was a customer of them when I worked in Westminster Fiddle Faddle 14:15, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
Oswald Martin Watts 1900–1982; yes that was he. Which address did you know? 49, Albemarle St. was a bit of a shambles which gave 'muddle' a good name... Eagleash (talk) 14:26, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
Albemarle street was a wonderful Aladdin's cave. I found it when I used to sail one of these in 1975 Fiddle Faddle 15:46, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
O. M. Watts could do with a bit of TLC. Assuming you enjoyed your time there do you fancy having a go? I just added his VIAF ID to Wikidata and a further fairly trivial ref Fiddle Faddle 15:59, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

@Timtrent: No. 49 was rambling and labyrithine (Sp.?). (There was also part of 48 for the brokerage business.) Also filthy and and wouldn't pass health and safety nowdays! How people like Sopwith, Knox-J, King Olaf and Heath (T) tolerated it is a good question. After I left they moved a few doors to near opposite Shelley's pub. And from what I saw in 1989 (passing by) was pretty 'normal'. When the 'Old Man' died I'm not sure who took it on (maybe his daughter) and I think it was sold off and eventually closed altogether. There was an attempt to re-open by some other parties in the mid-2000s but around the corner in Dover St. As I heard it, the new owner found asbestos and had to close again and those premises are now used by a woman who is married to a former captain of England. I have tidied OMW article a bit. I'll do some more later on. I have had it in the back of my mind to do something about him for years but it never got further than a few notes and of course there's COI even though it was 50 years ago nearly. Of course his major publication was Reed's Almanac (still going today I think) which he edited. We sold those by the err...hmmm... shipload. Eagleash (talk) 17:57, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

Eagleash, He's definitely a notable chap. I liked the old shop, though as a customer. There seems to be some business in the name near me, now, in Kingsbridge.
As you saw, I did a smidgen of tidying, and found some notability to be able to remove the banner. I never knew he was a yacht designer... Fiddle Faddle 18:06, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
@Timtrent: Yes, I enjoyed working there; every hour I could; sometimes illegally (I was only just 14 when I started!). It was bit of an adventure; The Capt, could be 'difficult' but was a diamond once you figured him out. Proper old sea-dog I suppose... I'd be interested to hear about any modern successors. He used to keep his boat at Bucklers Hard... is that nearby? Oh yes I'd forgotten about the designer part. There were a few models around the offices on the third floor. I think one was even am Americas cup contender (potentially). Eagleash (talk) 18:32, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
Eagleash, I'm in Dartmouth. Bucklers Hard is quite some miles away. https://captainwatts.co.uk/find-captain-watts-churchstow-nr-salcombe may be the old business under a new name
Did/do you sail, or did you just enjoy the shop and the environment? Fiddle Faddle 18:40, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
@Timtrent: Thanks for the link. I sailed a few times on holiday at Haling Island. It was a dinghy of some sort; I seem to remember the 'instructor' calling it a 'scratch boat' when apparently the thing to have was a GB40, or was it GT14 or GT40 definitely wanted one of the latter. Do recall venturing out into the solent and sharply turning about after spotting a submarine on manoeuvres a few 100 yards away! Eagleash (talk) 22:03, 2 October 2020 (UTC)
No real idea what a scratch boat might be. GP14 is likely to be the one aspired to. The harbour bar at Hayling is not to be trifled with, and I don't mean the pub! Fiddle Faddle 13:00, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
@Timtrent: Probably refers to some sort of grading system; sort of reverse to 'scratch' in golf. I've been doing a bit with the article and disclosed COI at my userpage. I expect you'll be keeping an eye on it to check I don't overdo it! There's more online than I've found in the past. E.g. here. I'd like to find more about the design stuff and also he was a director and / or founder of Ensign Flags in Liverpool. Eagleash (talk) 13:31, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
A bit like me with Keith I know you know when to stop. I think there is a difference between being a one time staff member and being a friend.
He seems to have designed a prodigious number of wooden yachts. Fiddle Faddle 13:48, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
@Timtrent: Thanks for adding a cite. I found one of his books on Amazon at not much money and was intending to purchase (just for old times sake) but then found one on eBay at half the price. So... about to put in a last second 'sniper' bid I started a reply at the help desk and missed it! However, got one of eBay at more but still less than Amazon. Dinghy; found a pic & uploaded here if you're curious. The image did not scan well... but, the link is to an enlarged view. It was blue as I recall and quite heavy but would get up and 'plane' very nicely in the right circs. Eagleash (talk) 16:13, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
Eagleash, it looks like a Firefly (dinghy), designed by Uffa Fox
I seem to be a bit of a boat geek Fiddle Faddle 16:21, 4 October 2020 (UTC)
Also here for reduced size. Eagleash (talk) 16:16, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

@Timtrent: Sorry got a bit distracted by other (not very) exciting editing events. Ah, I recall the Firefly and I'm sure I'd remember if they'd called it that; that's not to say that it it wasn't one! I also recall the much derided Mirror Dingy. I recntly added a sailing pic. to South Norwood Lake and Grounds, if you're at all curious. Eagleash (talk) 21:53, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

Eagleash, I had many happy days sailing a Heron. Great little boats. The Mirror Dinghy was a superb boat for introducing folk to sailing. They had several others after it, never so successful. I was always sad that it eclipsed the International Cadet, but it was a family boat and, for all it's smallness, the Cadet a racing boat Fiddle Faddle 06:32, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
Looking at your black and white picture again the boat is definitely Firefly-like, but also feels a little more boxy. It looks as if it would have similar characteristics under sail. Fiddle Faddle 06:44, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

Einar Bergström put to draft - should be published - Please put it to pubishing state

Collapsed extended discussion

Draft:Einar Bergström (edit | [[Talk:Draft:Einar Bergström|talk]] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

This article is a direct translation from Swedish Wikipedia

From where it has been stable for a long time and is very comprehensive in its reference details (I did not have time to put the link to the Swedish article before it was put to draft by you):

  • It is checked with demographic databases by Swedish Wikipedia.
  • Einar Bergström's employment certificate with Saab by Saab's manager Tore Gullstrand (written in the usual practice when leaving a job in Sweden, as he did for FFA in 1962) is the basic source for almost the entire article. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Einar_Bergström_Betyg_Saab.jpg (Its content is translated into English, it is very extensive in its details).
  • The article "Göteborgs Handels- och Sjöfartstidning 1972-02-13 Svensk luftstråledriven svävare över vatten is och snövidder " English: "Göteborgs Handels- och Sjöfartstidning 1972-02-13 Swedish air-powered hovercraft over water ice and snow expansions" describes the entire civil work. But with a rejection of the editor who refuses Wikicommons' intellectual property rights to have an image of the article published on Wikicommons. But it is available from the newspaper archive and I have a copy that I can send to anyone.

Yes, he's my long dead father. But the article is written in the context of the development of aviation history and the team at Saab under Tore Gullstrand and Erik Bratt for the development of supersonic aircraft with delta wings in the shadow of the Cold War and the implementation of Alexander Lippisch visions. The basis for a series of military aircraft in many countries was then constructed upon its research. My dad was a cog in the team. And the article about Einar Bergström has the strongest references, precisely through the work certificate from his boss at Saab that I found last summer when I scanned my father's photo library. I have sought contact with relatives of my father's employees to get documentation and received much, but nothing in class with Gullstrand's work certificate.

If these guys and their work are not documented now, they will disappear for the history of aviation history in the fog of oblivion very soon. Here, Wikipedia has a strong role to play for future knowledge of the past, which only a few years ago did not exist.

This article has an unusually solid reference and is stable (there is nothing more to say, developed in Swedish and as such translated):

--Zzalpha (talk) 21:35, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

@Zzalpha: Thank you for your message. Unfortunately verifiabilty is a core Wikipedia policy and it is not possible to accept this item with so little referencing. There is seemingly a large amount of content which is unsupported. If the page has been translated from another sister project, then please read WP:TFOLWP and make the necessary attribution. It is not acceptable to say 'it exists elsewhere therefore it's fine here' or 'I was going to do it later'. Also, different language projects are independent of one another and often have different approaches. If the Swedish article has references, they can be incorporated into this page. As you seem to be writing about a family member you need to read WP:COI and make the necessary declarations. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 22:10, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
I wonder if there is a culture difference topic here?
  • A written employment certificate for a Saab employment by the Saab's manager is considered in Sweden a first hand tock solid reference describing what the person did at the employment.
  • You can read the translation (and even translate it yourself, the original Swedish text, it and the translation is in the Summery section of the Wikicommons) https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Einar_Bergström_Betyg_Saab.jpg
  • To a swede it is the most rock solid first hand source, a certificate from your employer (there are cases of fakes, but rarely for people dead since 25 years, and the source is such a prestigious person the 1968 deputy managing director of Saab-Scania AB and very hard to falsify because of that)
  • But in the US there is no practice for the manager to write a employment certificate when people quit an employment for another?
  • But still you aren't doubting that Saab manager Tore Gullstrand wrote the employment certificate
  • You know that Saab has scrapped its personal archives and nothing elder than 25 years exists in documentation by them anymore, so if their vouched statements are not valid in the certificate, there is not much more to do. (I can get the birth and death certificate from the tax authority, and not much more else?
  • These men are of very little private concern in Wikipedia, the only interesting thing is their contribution in the perspective of aviation history.
Regarding Swedish Wikipedia I was rather was referring to that there are no reasons for any editing on my behalf (I am Ok with its Swedish content since 1 year), because that is already processed. Also the references are accepted by them as valid data. And there are cultural defences in how to document in different countries, I think you should accept the Swedish Wikipedias check (because there are solid demographic databases here)?
I can understand if you do not accept the part from "FFA Hovercrafts" where there are no other references than the Swedish newspaper article that refuses being published in Wikicommons. Give me an emailadress and I can mail the article. If the "FFA Hovercrafts" section is in doubts I am OK by publishing the article without. I think it demonstrates the smoothness the past is vanishing into the mist of oblivion. --Zzalpha (talk) 23:10, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
I can understand with ease that you see me as partial being his son. I can accept that the article is restricted to only what is in the employment certificate. But You have to explain to me how that document shouldn’t be considered a first class reference? I like to understand, thing is I have an academic degree, well introduced in scientific method and can't see your point? Problem is that the other relatives of the people that have any knowledge of what happened at Saab in the 1950s are like 80 years old and pre-computer culture and are pretty affected by age, I am the last man standing? If I am disqualified, please re-write the article for the world’s heritage, aviation history? Nothing is also a statement? So please expand your view? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zzalpha (talkcontribs) 23:55, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
I check with the tax authory's the population register and the university to get something from there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zzalpha (talkcontribs) 02:28, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
@Zzalpha: Wikipedia requires in-depth coverage in multiple reliable sources which must be independent of the subject. Primary sources are not acceptable in establishing notability. Unless you can provide multiple independent sources (mainstream publications etc.) the page cannot be accepted. Please also address the issues of CWW and COI as noted above. Eagleash (talk) 03:51, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
Note, I try to understand the English WIkipedia view on genuine references and I am not pushing for something being published not harmonised to the English Wikipediapolicies.
  • The topic is interesting because based on the same general Wikipedia written statements of genuine references have huge differences in interpretation between the English and Swedish Wikipedia because the societies information structures are so different. Look, I do not complain, it is not possible to have the same interprets in so different information infrastructure environments, I try to understand (and I think it should be documented somewhere).
  • I have a another scanned document signed by Erik Bratt that in Swedish Wikipedia is considered genuine, no debate, but it includes a embedded picture and I can't get who owns the immaterial rights to the picture so I can't use it. No questions about it being genuine.
  • This conversation is to clear this out, I have Swedish references to the topic and need to learn yours, to do it right.
How do I make a reference to someone voucher for a document? Do I understand you right that the Einar Bergström's employment certificate is in English Wikipedia acceptable if I can make Saab AB to verify it as theirs (it is made on their behalf), else not?
  • If there is a reference to a scanned primary object that is able to verify the scanned document like in this case officials at Saab AB, how do I refer to them? In the article or in the document in Wikicommons?
  • We are talking about people active 40-75 years ago, their existence is only partially digitalised, they were top secret works but now publically released, but digitally retrievable in most cases.
  • For instance I have an article in the weekly Tech-news magazine "Ny Teknik" number 14 1969 having an article about my father’s civil Hovercraft development at FFA, actually written by my father (that was the procedure in those days, now they use journalists making the articles for a source like my father, and they had strict source control then. The present Editor of "Ny Teknik" can absolutely voucher for the article being published by them, that a scanned copy of the article is right. But the magazine hasn’t yet digitalized the issues of 1969 so they can't provide a digital link to it in their archives. The editor has approved it being scanned, publish it open source by Wikicommons and use it in Wikipedia. I can provide email address and phone number to the editor, no problem, but is that a solution to this topic?
  • There is no problem getting a life certificate from the Swedish tax authority and a reference from the university, as a PDF (old data).
  • My father was not a boss of given medals, but doing very specific aviation history previosly top secret work, and as such he is not in the "who is who" 1969 that is linkable available. There are however instants able and wiling to voucher for the primary documents correctness. But How do we do it, in practical terms?
  • And I accept Swedish Wikipedia is not a an instance that can voucher for a document as a reference? (That is one of the most important information Wikipedia do not provide (should be improved and explained), is in general something a lot of people have hard to understand the logics of (need also to be explained)? And I believe that the situation of the risk of being manipulated and avoiding the Wikipedia volunteer organisation not be too nested and huge, is the reason (but please tell).
  • Sweden is a heavily digitalised country and the people that makes the Swedish Wikipedia checks do have a number of public databases, to confirm data in articles. And do not note it in the articles because everybody is (with some effort) able to check for themselves. And such things are not expressed in Sweden because it is taken for granted and isn’t in other national public data framework cultures, like in the USA where there are political resistance to public databases of citizens for instance.
  • I think Wikipedia should think it over, using expert input from other national Wikipedia that have good tools for certifying references.
  • The same thing with the system of employment certificate used in Sweden, where the social punishment of making fraud to it is severe and in the shadow of the ease to check them. There was a staff military sacked last spring for falsifying employment certificates and it is public media news, and certainly damage claims by the employer.

--Zzalpha (talk) 18:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

@Zzalpha: I'm afriad all In can suggest is that you search for mainstream sources which you can add as references to support the staements made in the draft. Please see WP:REFB for the guides to adding sources as well as WP:CITET for templates to use and WP:RS for a guide to identifying usable sources. If multiple reliable sources cannot be found and added then notability is most unlikely to be established and the page will not be accepted. If you have a suggestion for a resource that could be used for verification please ask at either WP:HD or WP:TEA for where this could be proposed. Sorry, but without proper sourcing being added to the draft I cannot help further. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 12:26, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
I am working on it, after have gotten a slight picture how you see it (the interpret of the Wikipedia policies), not perfectly clear but I try. I tried to get references your way from the actual parties.
Give me some days, it is Corona time and a lot of people are not at office and some of it is paper archive stuff.--Zzalpha (talk) 01:17, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
@Zzalpha: There is no deadlinem as far as Wikipedia is concerned. As much as it takes to bring the page up to scratch is fine. Eagleash (talk) 03:06, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

Andy Cobb Auto Racer Page

Thanks for helping me edit the Andy Cobb auto racer page. This is my first article creation. Hoping I can learn from your techniques to make the best articles possible. Floridaracingnews (talk) 21:21, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

Can you help with the driver info box and it’s layout. I used a template posted on your page to get the box started and keep it uniform with other pages Floridaracingnews (talk) 23:13, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

For some reason in the info box under series info the word career appears after the United Sprint Car Series. This shouldn’t be there and I can’t find a way to remove the word. Floridaracingnews (talk) 02:43, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

@Floridaracingnews: That is generated by the infobox parameter 'current series'; it cannot readily be removed as far as I can see. The template does not expect activity in more than one current series. It may be necessary to only have the series which is considered the most important or in which he is most active and it may be possible to tinker with the markup to include the others. Or if past series then 'previous' would apply. I'm afraid I have reservations as to WP:NOTABILITY; please have a read of WP:NMOTORSPORT and WP:NACTOR and review the notability criteria. Can you also confirm that you took the images yourself? Wikipedia is particularly tight on copyright issues. Eagleash (talk) 03:01, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
I have added a section from 2014 in reference to competition in the World of Outlaws which is the premier professional sprint car series that he competes in then and currently. There is also a citation added for that. What are your thoughts on that? Floridaracingnews (talk) 03:10, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
Should Auto Racer be taken out of the title due to this being a multi talent article with acting too? Floridaracingnews (talk) 03:19, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
The images were all taken by me or my team. Floridaracingnews (talk) 03:22, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
Also as far as the TV show is concerned, the show has switched over to the circle network. Season 3 has not aired yet. Cobb is credited at the end of each show in the credits and has worked in all three seasons of shows. It is not allowing me to link the trailers or episodes to the citations that have Cobb in them. Floridaracingnews (talk) 03:28, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
I have made the World of outlaws the current series and put the others to previous. Years can be added to previous if thought necessary. Obviously I do not know if the car No. and engine details are correct for that series. There does not seem to be another Andy Cobb on Wikipedia so the disambiguation is not necessary. It would be fixed *if* the article is accpeted into mainspace. OK, 'team' may give rise to concern... please clarify what you mean by team. Are you in fact Mr. Cobb himself? I note the username could imply shared or corporate use which is not allowed. I would recommend that it be changed ASAP. Please see WP:UNC for how to do this. Eagleash (talk) 03:32, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

By team I mean the photo would have been taken by myself in a media setting. I am a reporting source for Motorsports in Florida and the southern US and have been involved with the production of the tv series. I am not Cobb just someone who has followed his career. Floridaracingnews (talk) 03:35, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

I have requested a name change due to being a single entity and not a corporate setting. I am not a professional media organization simply a racing stat keeper and follower along with being a fan. Floridaracingnews (talk) 03:44, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

As for the car number that is the only number I’ve ever known Cobb to run. I’ve not observed any other numbers to date.

He did compete under Bellamy Brothers Racing for several years from around 2009-2014 then I believe he went under his own branding. I only put his branding because I believe that is in fact current. Floridaracingnews (talk) 03:54, 16 October 2020 (UTC)

Do you know if the info box can be edited to read Secondary Series instead of previous series since he competes in all of those series currently? RacingFan247 (talk) 00:40, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

@RacingFan247: It seems the only way is to add a 'module' which is tantamount to adding an extra infobox for each additional series. This will, I think, result in excessive markup and might not render well. Eagleash (talk) 11:40, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

Mutti SpA

Hi Eagleash, thanks a lot for your help regarding the draft about Mutti Spa. Other than putting the AfC template, I have also tried to submit the page in the Wikiproject companies' talk page (here). This is just a translation of an already existing article in Italian, which does not present any alert message (here). Therefore, I was wondering if, compared to an ordinary article created from scratch, this could be moved into the mainspace without waiting for an in depth review aimed at evaluating its notability. Mutti Spa is a 121 years old company and present in 97 countries. What do you think? Michele Laterza83 (talk) 15:45, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

@MicheleLaterza83: Hello, I think there is a fair case for moving it to mainspace but before doing so the content needs to be attributed – for various reasons including copyright etc. For how to do this see the instructions at WP:TFOLWP. Should merely require a 'dummy edit' and the appropriate wording in the edit summary. Just a note; it is not seen as good practice to ask the same or similar questions in multiple locations as this takes up the time of other volunteers; and there is always the danger of receiving conflicting advice. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 17:55, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
@Eagleash: Thank you so much for your advice and help. From what I understand by reading WP:TFOLWP, I have already done what seems to be required (see the draft's talk page - here - as well as the history - edit of 14 October at 10.01). However, in order to make sure everything is perfectly aligned with the page you have linked, I have also added a further edit including the following summary: "Content in this article is translated from the existing Italian Wikipedia article at it:Mutti_(azienda) - version number 115446857; see its history for attribution". That said and done, do you think I could move it into the mainspace myself? Thanks in advance :)
p.s My apologies for having submitted my question in two different locations. Michele Laterza83 (talk) 16:08, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
@MicheleLaterza83: Yes I noticed afterward that the attribution had been done. There is nothing to stop you moving the page to mainspace, whee it will be subject to new page review. It will not be indexed by search engines for 90 days or until it has been patrolled, whichever is the shorter period. Eagleash (talk) 16:22, 21 October 2020 (UTC) (adding ping) Eagleash (talk) 20:08, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
@Eagleash: Done. Thanks again :) Michele Laterza83 (talk) 09:43, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

SP Cinemas

Hi, can you help with the Afc submission Draft:SP Cinemas by completing the review process. It is resubmitted following the guidelines and improvements. Thank You SidhardhRamesh 💬 22:08, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

@SidhardhRamesh: Hello, and thank you for your message. I do not recall having any previous dealings with this draft. Nevertheless, I have had a look at it and if it were to 'cross my path' via AfC I suspect I would probably 'pass' on it and leave it to amother reviewer better-versed in the general topic. The references look quite good at first sight but some seem to be more about the films and not so much about the company itself. However, I think it could possibly be quite close to acceptance and of course it can continue to be developed in the meantime. Good luck. Eagleash (talk) 10:41, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Sourabh Tanaji Patil

Hello, Eagleash. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Sourabh Tanaji Patil".

Liz Read! Talk! 21:51, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

@Liz: I think this must be another of those rather annoying anomalies where I've moved a sandbox to draft leaving a redirect. The 'owner' of the sandbox has then come along, erased the redir and started another draft in the same space. The history would have indicated that I started the page but as it was deleted even as I got your message I cannot say for sure. Really must look in to moving these drafts without leaving a redirect... I've noticed other editors doing that! Eagleash (talk) 21:56, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

Transfer page

Hello dear colleague, please transfer the page of Mustafa Mo'meni to Mostafa Momeni. His correct name is written like this Thankful.--Antvan lavi (talk) 18:02, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

@Antvan lavi: I have checked what the sources say and moved the page. Unfortunately, I got it wrong the first time (not unusual) but I think there's 'no harm done'. I removed one ref which seemed to refer to a different Dr. Momeni who died more recently, and noted this in my ES. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 18:36, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
Antvan lavi is the sock of a banned and globally-locked sock, for what it's worth.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 20:22, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
@Ponyo: Oh G*ll**ks! Thanks... I suppose the request below this is the same editor as I see you've deleted the draft. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 20:33, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
They've been trying to get the Mostafa Momeni article created for ages. If you could see the deleted history you would see that it was created by an account blocked as a ArmanAfifeh sock a year ago. I imagine the variations is spelling etc. were all a means of trying to hide the obvious. It worked for a bit!.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 20:41, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
@Ponyo: I'm wondering where does it go from here? Eagleash (talk) 20:57, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
DGG accepted the draft and you've edited it in good faith, so G5 doesn't apply. Chalk one up for the bad guys, I suppose?-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:00, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
this is particularly interesting, because the Mostafa Momeni page that was deleted is about a songwriter born in 1987, and the page I approved is about a geography professor born in 1940. What it looks like is that the ed. found someone else of the same name, and presumably intended later to substitute the material. I think here have been a very few similar cases.
In general I will check and accept or rewrite G5s if the subject is both in my my primary field of researchers and academic faculty, and quite highly notable or notable in a somewhat unusual way that I can recognize or in a badly undercovered field here. (there are only 3 other modern Iranian geographers here, though, of course, many more from the early modern and medieval periods But I have just investigated further, and it would need some rewriting to add what I can verify; some of the publications I cannot, but the articles is a google translation of an article in the Farsi WP written by one of their regular editors, and I assume good faith in the contents. However, I cannot of course vouch for the accuracy of the translation. If kept, it would need to be at least semi-protected, to prevent the reversion of it to the person originally intended. It's not exactly G5, but it's close enough, and if there is no objection I will use G5 and protect against recreation. DGG ( talk ) 00:20, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
@DGG: Thanks for picking up on this. I'm not sure what's going on here but some content has been added to the academic article which relates to the singer. I think you are right a sort of usurpation by stealth. Also added at Wikidata. I've removed what I've seen so far. I think the academic could quite probably be considered acceptable. It seems that several versions of the name might exist catching them all could be tricky. Eagleash (talk) 00:50, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
@DGG:, @Ponyo: Another attempt to get round the system Draft:Mostafa Momeni (composer). Eagleash (talk) 15:37, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
What I've now done is moved the page on the geographer to Mostafa Momeni (geographer), semi-protected it, and, using one of the less obvious options, fully move-protected it, which will prevent anyone but an admin from changing the title. Having a qualifier when not needed is unusual, and I will explain on the talk page. The next step is ECP for the page; ping me if needed. As for notability of the geographer, that can be discussed in the usual way. DGG ( talk ) 01:34, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
@DGG:, @Ponyo: The disruptive editor has now come along and removed the redirect and (I think) C&P'd the singer into the non-disambiguated name. As it existed as a redirect they were able to do this even though the title may have been salted. We had similar poblem with a disruptive editor at the F1 project 4 or 5 years ago where they'd request redirects via AfC and then turn them into NN articles. I was tempted to just restore the page to your (DGG's) version but this is where I tend to get a bit confused and I don't want to make more of a muddle than it already is. Eagleash (talk) 14:24, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
the redirect was fixed by another ed. , and now is protected. There may be other loopholes, so let me know. If necessary, I will delete and protect the draft. DGG ( talk ) 21:43, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
@DGG: Thanks, I hadn't picked up on the redirect being fixed! I see the draft is still in existence and that another (sock?) account has been created here. Possibility of that account moving the draft as as soon as it becomes autoconf? Few edits so far apart from one NN footballer draft, which I will keep a lookout for. Cheers. Draft:Millard Fillmore Hearn Jr.

Hello! Thanks so much for reviewing Draft:Millard Fillmore Hearn Jr.. Your feedback was greatly appreciated and edits have been made! If possible, please could you take another look? Thank you so much! KerstingFan (talk) 17:35, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

@KerstingFan: Thank you for leaving me a message. I did not actually 'review' the draft but merely read through it and made some formatting suggestions. Having said that, I have looked at it again and it seems a reasonable item which could well be accepted. However, WP:NPROF is rather outside my normal area of expertise (should such a thing exist) and I would rather not attempt a review and I'm afraid I will have to leave it for another reviewer better-versed in the overall topic. Good luck with it. Eagleash (talk) 20:40, 15 November 2020 (UTC)

Draft:Toyota ASV

Thank you for reviewing my draft. I have read yo comment, and to respond to that, there was not much reliable sources that I could find.— Preceding unsigned comment added by DestinationFearFan (talkcontribs) 20:59, 16 November 2020 20:59 (UTC)

@DestinationFearFan: Thank you for your message. Unfortunately Wikipedia requires in-depth coverage in multiple sources. If sources cannot be found, then notability cannot be demonstrated and a page is extremely unlikely to ever be created. It may be that a redirect to an appropriate section in the Toyota Co. article is a possible option here. Eagleash (talk) 21:12, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

@Becbec814: Hello, thank you for leaving me a message; unfortunately, it looks as though the item has been 'overtaken by events' and has been deleted. I cannot recall the content of the draft but it looks as though I initially declined it as unencyclopedic and other reviewers found it to be promotional; the first of those issues is fixable but the second is a big problem for Wikipedia which strives to maintain a neutral stance. You should not be discouraged unnecessarily by having a first attempt refused. Please study all the links now forming part of your talk page and a useful guide to article creation can also be found at User:Ian.thomson/Howto. Please note new posts go at the bottom of talk page – the easiest way to do this is by clicking 'new section' at he top of the page. Borna Derakhshani

Hello i made a draft biography for Borna Derakhshani ( very fameuse chess player ) as you said . But There isnt any place for submit . So I add link for submit the top of draft . Just wanted to check it is ok ? Thank you Amaliazhivago (talk) 13:38, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

@Amaliazhivago: hello. and thamk you foe leaving me a message. I'm afraid the submit motice was not properly formatted and I have removed it (at least for the time being). It is good that you followed the advice to submit a draft via the correct channels but there was some other advice left at the help desk which also needs to be taken heed of. You were asked to study WP:NCHESS, WP:YFA, WP:GNG and WP:MOS. These links will help you develop an acceptable article (on the assumption that the subject passes the notability guidelines). Biographical articles without references are not accepted into the encyclopedia and all articles need some sourcing to establish notability and for verification. If the draft were to be submitted now, it would be quickly declined and returned to you for much needed improvement. Links have also been left at your talk page which will also help you get started on Wikipedia and the guide to adding references can be found at WP:REFB.
Another issue is that we now have 2 drafts in existence. One at User:Amaliazhivago/Borna Derakhshani and one at Draft:Borna Derakhshani; this is not a real problem but may lead to some confusion. I would suggest that the first one (User:Amaliazhivago/Borna Derakhshani) be deleted which you can do by adding {{Db-g7}} to the top of the markup. You can then concentrate on developing the item in draftspace. To emphasise, this *will not* be accepted without proper sourcing and perhaps you can look at article on other chess players to see how they are laid out and structured. Raymond Keene is one that springs to mind; although not a great article it should help you on your way as an example. Would also suggest the use of Template:Infobox chess biography. Thank you for wanting to expand Wikipedia and good luck with the page. Eagleash (talk) 18:22, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

Please, please accept my Aurora Theatre Hong Kong page. There are 13 journalist review names included since about January 2020 .Duncanogi (talk) 12:46, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Duncanogi (talk) 12:46, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

@Duncanogi: Hello, and thnk you for leaving me a message. I don't seem to have seen the item concerned previously but managed to track it down via your talk page. It seems that at least 2 experienced reviewers have identified issues with the referencing. Most importantly, all the sources seem to come from a single site, whereas Wikipedia requires multiple sources. The advice to those creating their first page is usually 'at least 3' as a 'rule of thumb'. Secondly, the sources are not correctly formatted which makes it difficult for the reader to 'check' references if they so desire. Wikipedia works on the basis that sourcing should be accessible for the reader. The template to use for online sources is Template:Cite web and multiple uses of the same source can be combined to save extra work or space. As things stand I cannot override the opinions of two of my colleagues on the review panel. Sorry. Eagleash (talk) 17:25, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

@Photos of rdr2: Hello, and thank you for leaving me a message; I did not 'speedy' the item but started a discussion at AfD as to whether it should be retained or not. The AfD notice cannot be removed until the discussion has run its course. Any input or comments you have or wish to make would be welcomed at the discussion. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 18:31, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
Grand! So i should just wait until it's gone or i have to do something :) thanks for replying too! Photos of rdr2 (talk) 20:38, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
@Photos of rdr2: There's nothing you *have* to do at the moment. If you wish to comment at the deletion discussion you are free to do so. If the article is kept, the closing Admin. will remove the notice and place a note at the talk page. If it is not kept they will delete the page altogether. Hey! ( I'm really sorry again!) I have no much time now i really need your help! 2 days ago was the last delete vote and now i really did what asked me ! So i ask ye to review penny O'Brien and tell me is it ready or i have to add something! And i really don't know else what to do with the speedy deletion! So i want your help by that too! Thanks :) Photos of rdr2 (talk) 17:43, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
@Photos of rdr2: There's not a lot you can do now. As you have been advised here and elsewhere the deletion discussion will run its course. There is little to demonstrate that the subject is in any way notable (the more specific guideline is at WP:NACTOR). Not every actor can qualify for a Wikipedia article especially early in their career and as another editor has suggested it may be not yet the right time. Just to clarify how the system works; an article or draft is created; reviewers decline it and usually it gets worked upon until it satisfies the guidelines or it is neglected and subsequently deleted. If despite being declined or rejected, the aticle is moved to mainspace 'out of process' then it is typically sent to AfD so the wider community can decide on its viability. Editors are welcome to try to improve it in the meantime but the discussion will decide what happens to it. Eagleash (talk) 17:59, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Photos of rdr2 - suggest you look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by occupation/Actresses - US where there are many, many actresses without articles; the header states "This list of red links is intended to serve as a basis for creating new articles on the English Wikipedia. All new articles must satisfy Wikipedia's notability criteria; red links on this list may or may not qualify." You have been advised at the deletion review by Curb Safe Charmer that this is the normal situation. There's just not enough written about Penny, presently. I would also advise you to save the draft content for the future - I save to a webmail message, then it's available to any device.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 20:58, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

The New York Experience article is mine and I did not publish it here.

I wrote The New York Experience article. I then deleted it from my sandbox, deciding not to publish on Wikipedia. Someone has published it on Wikipedia without my knowledge and without my permission. It appears that you were involved with this. How do I get the article removed? It is a violation of my copyright.Milst1 (talk) 00:15, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

@Milst1: Hello, and thank you for leaving me a message. I seem to have removed some AfC tags and added a boldname after the sandbox draft was moved to mainspace by DGG but had no other involvement with the page AFAICT. It looks as though you deleted the content with this edit but the restored it a week later with this one. I note you have posted at DGG's page and as an administrator he will be best placed to see past revisions of the page and to advise what action is necessary. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 00:34, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
@Eagleash:Hello, and thank you for your response. You're the only person getting back to me. I guess I did leave it in the Sandbox, but I never put it out as an article. Do you know if it was within DGG's rights to pluck a draft from my Sandbox that I had chosen not to publish? I'm worried that the person I have a quarrel with is now my judge and jury, and I'm quite upset about the whole thing. This is a year of my professional academic work down the drain if not resolved. Thank you again.Milst1 (talk) 00:41, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
@Milst1: I'm not certain exactly what happened here; if the draft in the sandbox had submission tags on it then it was open to review by any AfC participant and could be moved to mainspace if it was felt appropriate. I have a very vague recall of seeing the page before DGG moved it and thinking it was a decent candidate for main (but I am not certain about that). If I did see it, it seems likely that it was in the review system. It is possible that a CSD criterion *might* apply. A page blanked in good faith by the creator when there have been few if any, edits by others can be tagged {{Db-g7}} to request deletion. Not 100% sure that will work here though. Eagleash (talk) 00:53, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
@Eagleash:It's been deleted after I did the Db-g7 tag. I don't think I ever added submission tags--I don't know what submission tags are! Thank you so much for your help. What a relief. I will submit the article for everyone's enjoyment as soon as I am able. I started it for Wikipedia (because I was surprised that such an article didn't already exist), but it just got too big and I need professional credit for the huge amount of work I've invested into it, including a ton of original research. I really appreciate your responsiveness. *whew*Milst1 (talk) 01:23, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
I commented on the user's talk p./ DGG ( talk ) 04:14, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
@DGG: Thanks. I did think that the copyright and / or licensing issues were not going to be simple! Eagleash (talk) 06:59, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Short descriptions

Thanks for the information. What do you recommend in regard to this going forward? I see that many, and I mean many, do not have the dates on there where applicable. This was the case before I started checking some of these out and adding them. It would be a massive project to check out the pages that are lacking dates but have already had descriptions added and adding date information. I have seen very few on here that have the dates. If we were to go about adding dates, it would make the format seem off with the many that have already been done. I recommend to keep going about it the way we currently have until a bot maybe can make a script that modifies the descriptions so it won't be a massive undertaking for individual users at the moment. I think that way it could stay a bit more organized. I won't embark on anything major regarding changes until I get your input though. Thanks. Red Director (talk) 18:52, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

I am going to work on a batch of the ones needed descriptions added. If I need to halt what I am doing, just give me a shout. Red Director (talk) 22:27, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
@Red Director: I don't know that my 'input' carries much weight. The guideline only says encouraged; it's not an imperative. I have seen many edits via my watchlist and it was only when an editor added (or re-added) dates quoting WP:HOWTOSD that I brought it to your attention – just in case. I may (or may not!) add dates to any that appear in my watchlist. Eagleash (talk) 07:24, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
@Eagleash: Thanks for the information. Have a great New Years my fellow editor. Hope 2021 treats you well. Red Director (talk) 04:39, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Deanna Morse submission

Hi, Eagleash.

Can you please tell me if my submission for Deanna Morse is still under consideration?

The last message said it was a duplicate but I'm uncertain if I should resubmit or wait to hear back again.

Thank you for any help you can provide and Happy New Year!

Patrick Caldo de Gallina (talk) 11:39, 31 December 2020 (UTC)

@Caldo de Gallina: Hello and thank you for your message. Your submission at User:Caldo de Gallina/sandbox has been declined and is therefore not currently under consideration. The reason it was declined is that there was (and still is) a submission at Draft:Deanna Morse which is in the correct space and is still being worked upon. Wikipedia cannot consider duplicate submissions; it just makes for a lot of work for other volunteers and some administrative issues. You would probably be better off merging your content to the existing item and clearing your user page – which is for you to tell the Wikipedia community a little about yourself and how you intend to contribute to the encyclopedia. It should not contain article-like content or it *might* be liable to deletion. Eagleash (talk) 13:42, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
