Galleries

[edit]

Hiya. I reverted your edit at Ajman Fort - that's way, way too many images for a gallery. I didn't revert Sharjah Fort, but IMHO that gallery needs to be pared back. I quoted WP:GALLERY: " Wikipedia is not an image repository. A gallery is not a tool to shoehorn images into an article, and a gallery consisting of an indiscriminate collection of images of the article subject should generally either be improved in accordance with the below paragraphs or moved to Wikimedia Commons." Also see MOS:PERTINENCE, "Images must be significant and relevant in the topic's context, not primarily decorative. They are often an important illustrative aid to understanding. When possible, find better images and improve captions instead of simply removing poor or inappropriate ones, especially on pages with few visuals. However, not every article needs images, and too many can be distracting." Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 12:48, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from a Wikipedia Asia Month participant community

[edit]

Hi, @Ssgapu22 and I were discussing about the w:Odia Wikipedia's participation in the ongoing Wikipedia Asia Month. We wanted to ask about the rules. The English Wikipedia specifies that the participating community can only improve articles unrelated to their country. But is this rule valid across other languages or a community can decide if their editors can create articles about their own country? Appreciate your response. Psubhashish (talk) 14:40, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Psubhashish, it’s better to avoid own country related articles, like for Odia Wikipedia you supposed to avoid India related articles. However, if your community wish keep own country articles that would be fine. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 18:18, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying this, @ZI Jony Psubhashish (talk) 17:51, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmation of Wikipedia Asian Month Rules

[edit]

Hi @ZI Jony, Thank you for organizing the WAM campaign again this year. I noticed that the page for English Wikipedia Asian Month states that the event lasts for two months (Nov. 1st to Dec. 31th). However, according to global rules, it should specify one month during this two-month period for the campaign. Could you please help confirm this matter? Thank you! Betty2407 (talk) 14:47, 4 November 2024 (UTC) on behalf of Wikipedia Asian Month 2024 Team[reply]

@Betty2407, fixed, thanks for the notice. Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 10:46, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ZI Jony, Thank you. Will Fountain Tool also end on November 30th? Betty2407 (talk) 14:24, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Betty2407, already requested! Warm Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 14:39, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ZI Jony, Thank you! If needed, please let the participants on the English Wikipedia know this matter to avoid any confusion. Betty2407 (talk) 14:44, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
