Shehzad Sheikh

Hi, regarding this edit of yours, the actor is different from the one who is in the show. Similar names are confusing, I know! Thanks. Vivek Ray (talk) 13:21, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

Ohkay! Thanks for the correction, Vivek. Massive fan of this show :) Csgir (talk) 08:58, 20 July 2018 (UTC)

Sacred Games (TV series)

Hello! I have a favour to ask. If you have seen the show and if you are free, can you summarise the plot of episode 1 within 200 words? MOS:TVPLOT says plot for each episode should be under 200 words. Thanks in advance! Vivek Ray (talk) 19:01, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi, it is done :) Csgir (talk) 08:29, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! Vivek Ray (talk) 14:29, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
Notice

The article B. Anand has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no indication of wp:notability. Only references aree either directory entries or passing mentions. No significant coverage independent of the subject.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. noq (talk) 11:41, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi Noq, thanks for the update. Actually, I had just started to create the page and forgot to add the "under construction" tag to it. After creating the full page, should I come back to you to remove the template or can I remove that myself? Csgir (talk) 12:59, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

B Anand

There is no need for me to remove the redirect because you can go back to the previous version in the history and edit that. Deb (talk) 12:58, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

Can you please help with this? The page is going to Nayara Energy...unable to find my created draft. Please help :) Csgir (talk) 13:02, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
Understood, thank you :) Added the "under construction" tag. Csgir (talk) 13:19, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi, Vivek Ray. Can you send me an invite to the Teahouse? Csgir (talk) 17:27, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Hi, I've sent you an invite as asked by you, though I am not sure why you need to be invited! I think you can ask for help over there without an 'invitation'. Thanks and happy editing! Vivek Ray (talk) 20:48, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Thank you, Vivek Ray. Actually, I noticed on a couple of talk pages during my editing journey that they had received an invite to the Teahouse..so, I assumed it is by-invite only.Csgir (talk) 04:45, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Hello Csgir, I just wanted to quickly call attention to a pending change you reviewed here. Though hard to spot, this was actually a vandalistic edit. Some telltale signs include the generic edit summary that had nothing to do with the edit actually made, the name "Erickle Andrackson", and the red link introduced. I do, however, want to say thank you for your presence and contributions more generally. Please let me know if you have any questions. Best, Airplaneman 07:23, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages - pending changes patrol

I see you recently accepted a pending change to August 16. I looked for a source for this date of birth in Waleed Aly that I could add to the DOY page and it was unsupported by any source there either.

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide. I've gone ahead and un-accepted this edit and backed it out.

As a pending changes patroller, please do not accept additions to day of year pages where no direct source has been provided on that day of year page. The burden to provide sources for additions to these pages is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 03:09, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi Toddst1, thank you so much for the guidance. I was not aware of this change - will keep in mind in future. Csgir (talk) 03:25, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

As per Wikipedia:Citing sources#Preventing and repairing dead links (second paragraph) please don't do this. The first source about Tim Hortons still exists. The second was easy to repair but not by a bot. The bot could not tell that http://64.26.129.36/in/on_the_land/igalugaarjuup_park.cfm was an incorrect link. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 19:47, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi CambridgeBayWeather, thanks for bringing this to my notice. Surprisingly, when I checked the link, it did show a page redirect message on the screen and that's why I removed it. Csgir (talk) 04:24, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
Strangely enough if you hadn't removed it I wouldn't have realised it needed fixing. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 05:06, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi Csgir. I'm currently editing the article at the moment, but I haven't put the tag do not disturb yet. Just FYI (not a protest), thanks. XoXo (talk) 08:35, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

I understand that perfectly XoXo. Add the underconstruction tag when you publish an incomplete article. Otherwise, any other reviewer might just speedily delete it and all your effort will go waste. Not everyone will move it to Drafts like I did. Csgir (talk) 08:39, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
Yes Csgir, and thanks for helping and for that comment too. I've finished my editing now. Do you think it is now acceptable/ready for the main space? XoXo (talk) 13:11, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
Yes XoXo, it is ready. Proofread it once before pushing it to main space. Csgir (talk) 16:49, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
Ok, done. Thank you again. XoXo (talk) 01:26, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

The ancient story of accounting

You tagged the article WP:A1 (no context) despite the page having over 2k of content & plenty of context. I've replaced the tag with WP:A10 as a re-work of Accounting. Regards, Cabayi (talk) 12:35, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi Cabayi, thank you for the correction. Have a great day! Csgir (talk) 06:29, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

Draft:ThinkWave

Hello Csgir, Hope you are doing well, could you please check the draft now and please advice with what should i do to make it suitable to article are?! Thanks Justletters (talk) 11:21, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi Justletters, I checked the Draft:ThinkWave just now and made some basic edits...but you need more content there to make it a suitable mainspace article. The language is sounding promotional right now and there are grammar errors. Csgir (talk) 13:09, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
Thanks Csgir for your kind support, So i have to work on the language and article's grammatical errors. After that will ask you to check it again. Justletters (talk) 13:49, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
Hello Csgir, hope you are fine, please i need your help to check it now and also waiting for your advice. Thanks Justletters (talk) 11:03, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
Hello Justletters, just looked at the page. It needs more content. Do your best. Csgir (talk) 11:50, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
Hi Csgir Could you please share your thoughts with me of how the article should be and what exactly the content that i have to add. Thanks. Justletters (talk) 14:23, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
Hi Justletters, Google News results for ThinkWave will be a good place to begin. Research the company - write its history, what they do - and give references for whatever you are writing. The article needs context otherwise, it might get deleted. Csgir (talk) 09:03, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
Hi Csgir i do some updates can you check it now. And why shouldn't you give help and edit it with me. Thanks :) Justletters (talk) 09:48, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to B. Anand. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:03, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi Zackmann08, thank you for guiding me the right way. Appreciate it much :) Have a great day! Csgir (talk) 06:01, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of B. Anand

Hello Csgir,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged B. Anand for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Akhiljaxxn (talk) 09:23, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi Akhiljaxxn, thanks for the heads-up and nice to e-meet a fellow Wikipedian. I have left a message on the Talk page to "contest the speedy deletion" - sharing the same verbatim here.

"The person is notable as the CEO of Nayara Energy, formerly Essar Oil. I came across his name from the Nayara Energy page with a red link marked on his name in the Infobox and went on to create his page after searching for citations online. I checked the possibility of such a page from List of chief executive officers page and went through a couple of pages such as Kumar Mangalam Birla, Tapan Singhel, and Pierre Nanterme. Their notability stems from the company they are associated with plus other media citations. B.Anand is the current CEO of the said company." Csgir (talk) 09:47, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

Asking for help

Here is a nice cup of masala chai for you!

Hello sir, please help me improve the quality of Sanki Daroga film article. It needs some quality English to better present the facts it has to offer. I have properly cited the statements/facts so it will be easy for you to copy edit further. I hope you will help, thankyou! Harsh Rathod Poke me! 05:39, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Hello Harsh Rathod, thank you for the Masala chai ;) never really thought anyone reads the User pages! I went ahead and edited Sanki Daroga. I had a question - is it fine to copy/paste a movie plot on Wikipedia? I had written a plot on my own and someone removed it, and copy pasted a text from Google. Didn't find any satisfying answer on Wiki help pages. Csgir (talk) 09:01, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Let's summon @Cyphoidbomb: to get the answer. He got more experience handling these matters. I think movie plots are exceptional case because I don't believe/read/edit them untill I've seen the movie for myself. Thanks, for your edits. Harsh Rathod Poke me! 13:01, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Csgir, what do you mean "copy/paste a movie plot on Wikipedia"? Are you asking if it's okay to copy a plot from one Wikipedia article and paste it into another Wikipedia article? If so, yes, you can do that, with proper copyright attribution, since Wikipedia owns the content. If you are asking if you can copy content from another website like Rotten Tomatoes or a book or magazine and paste it into Wikipedia, the answer is no. All prose content must be written from scratch in our own words. Copy/pasting from around the internet would be both plagiarism and a copyright violation (as I'm sure a university professor knows). The only time you could do this would be before a film is released. We could present a short description in the form of a quotation, so long as we also provided proper referencing. It would look like this:
"A cop and a criminal who distrust each other are trapped in an elevator with a bag of groceries and a butcher knife."[1]
This is not plagiarism, because we have included a reference, and since it's a quick description presented in the form of a quotation, we have a credible Fair Use argument to allow us to avoid a copyright violation. But once the film has been released, we should write the plot in our own words. For what it's worth, I don't see any plot addition by you in the edit history of Sanki Daroga. Did you possibly forget to save, or are you talking about a different article? Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:12, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
Hi, Cyphoidbomb, when I had newly started on Wikipedia, I remember "writing" and publishing a movie synopsis. A few hours later, my input was reverted by another editor, and in its place, the editor had copied and pasted the plot from IMDB. I knew it to be a copyright violation/plagiarism, but since I was new here, I didn't know whom to ask or report it or even if I had the right to revert it. My synopsis was https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Satyameva_Jayate_(2018_film)&oldid=855305416 and it was reverted to https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Satyameva_Jayate_(2018_film)&oldid=855336968 , with a reference link to Google Search. I have seen endless movie pages with copied plot text. Since they went unnoticed, I thought that was the norm with "movie pages". For example, see the Plot for Mulk (film), it is the same as this and this. Same with the movie, Love Sonia. Also, I didn't add the plot for Sanki Daroga, it was already added by Harsh Rathod. It is the same as this as well. Since the movie hasn't released yet, one can retain the same plot text and add quotes, right? Csgir (talk) 16:23, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
Sir it is not me who copy-pasted the plot from somewhere to Sanki Daroga but the person who submitted it.(proof) And on top of that he also copied a statement from marketing section, as it is, from Nagraj to Sanki Daroga which was absolutely wrong w.r.t. the latter and I removed it when I copyedited it. As I said before, I never believe/edit/read plots before watching the movie for myself. I never touched the plot section of Sanki Daroga. I hope things are clear now. I swear to god I never copy-pasted anything to WP. Harsh Rathod Poke me! 17:27, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
@Pk41946: It is so nice of you to remove the plot completely from the article. You are now more than welcome to write it in your own words. Copy-pasting should be done only with quotations. I assume you've already watched the film, so why not write it? Harsh Rathod Poke me! 20:37, 24 September 2018 (UTC)
Hii @Harshrathod50:
I am really sorry for this .
I accept my problem about copy/paste issue . But he is last . I have not knowledge about this copy / paste violation so thanks for this. I have see Sanki Daroga in theatres already so have add new plot on the article.
So Please check and give your suggestion about this.
pk41946 20:47, 24 September 2018‎ (UTC)
Csgir: Sorry, I misunderstood a portion of your initial query, but I understand what's happening now. Re: "Since the movie hasn't released yet, one can retain the same plot text and add quotes, right?" Short quotes, and a reference must be included. Looking at Sanki Daroga's plot at PVRcinemas.com, I'd omit everything from "A taut action thriller" on, because much of it is interpretive and contains marketing speak. A plot summary should just give an overview of the plot, not deal with interpretation or meaning or cast. As for pk41946 and anybody else who has seen and remembers copyvio instances, if you can please be diligent and fix what you can, that would be appreciated. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:17, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
Apologies Harsh Rathod, I thought you had added all the segments of the page. Thanks for the clarification, Cyphoidbomb. It was an interesting discussion. Csgir (talk) 12:24, 25 September 2018 (UTC)

supposed/allegedly

Hi, why did you do this? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Romani_people&type=revision&diff=861134867&oldid=861133943 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.60.60.32 (talk) 10:29, 25 September 2018 (UTC)

So Mr "Copy editor" it seems that you revert perfectly good improvement without explanation, even when people ask nicely for one. Maybe you should reconsider if recent changes is the best place for you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.60.60.32 (talk) 10:03, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
First, Wikipedia is a voluntary space - there is no "deadline" to reply to anything, except out of good faith, which is what I am doing now. Second, the reason why few pages are "protected" is to avoid vandalism/unsourced changes. Third, to reiterate your comment, it is prudent and logical to add the reason for requesting a change in any "protected" page, specifically when the changes are coming from unregistered Wiki account holders / IP's. Therefore, if you think that changing "allegedly" to "supposed" is a good improvement for Romani people page, leave a reason before hitting the "Publish" button. It will help the editor in accepting/rejecting the suggestion. You did another change to the Nayara Energy page - removing the red link - but the page revision history doesn't have the update as to what change did you make. Kindly keep this in mind for future edits. PS: writing phrases like "Mr Copy Editor" is really immature. Have a great day! Csgir (talk) 15:19, 26 September 2018 (UTC)

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Michael Cody Patrick requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on Inshorts (app), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Hello Praxidicae, I have placed a message on the article's talk page contesting the speedy deletion. Kindly explain the grounds of deletion and wiping off someone's good faith work. I created this page for the first time and wrote the 3-liner information myself after researching on Google. Kindly state how it was surmised that I "reposted" someone else's writing. Csgir (talk) 12:54, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

None of it negates the last AFD as it addresses literally no part of it. Praxidicae (talk) 12:55, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the revert,Praxidicae. Two doubts: (1) which last AFD? I didn't find a page created in the name of InShorts before creating my page. (2) It was implied that I posted someone else's writeup - may I know the source for the claim? Thank you Csgir (talk) 13:00, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Inshorts. Ravensfire (talk) 17:38, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for guiding me to the right link, Ravensfire (talk). Didn't come across this when I created the page. I guess I was searching with the wrong phrase. I will be re-creating the page as there are a lot of refs which make InShorts notable. Hard to guess why it was deleted in the first place...maybe the earlier draft was poorly referenced. moving articles to draft/userspace

Hi. When you move them, it is highly recommended to leave a note on the creator's talkpage. The note is helpful for many other editors, specially if the artcle creation is recurring (for spamming/promotion). Regards, —usernamekiran(talk) 23:26, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi, usernamekiran(talk), thanks for the suggestion. Is there an automated way to do this? Csgir (talk) 04:35, 12 October 2018 (UTC)
Hey Csgir, I'm just talk page stalking and really late to the discussion, but there is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft, which can semi-automatically move a page to draftspace and perform a number of other tasks in one click, including leaving a note on the user's talk page. Cheers, --SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time? 01:07, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
Great, thank you for the guidance. Was searching for this, SkyGazer 512 Oh no, what did I do this time?. Have a great day! Csgir (talk) 04:42, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

November copy-editing drive

FYI, the November copy-editing drive doesn't begin until November. Copy edits made before November 1, 00:01 UTC are appreciated and welcome, but they won't be counted towards the drive. In the meantime, you might like to have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/How to.

I took a quick look at your edits on the article Murder of Maria Ladenburger, and it looks like you're going in the right direction. One very minor point: Wikipedia's Manual of Style recommends lower-case am or a.m. for times in the morning. Capitalized AM is used for AM radio stations.

Please let me know if you have any questions. – Reidgreg (talk) 13:04, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi Reidgreg, thanks for the heads up. I was trying out the scripts for the 1st time. I have been copy editing since I joined Wikipedia but now, I want to win a Barnstar :) Starting with the November drive. Csgir (talk) 04:41, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Chefling requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

Hi Stefan2 (talk) , why is this message on my Talk page? I am not the creator.Csgir (talk)
You moved a page with this title out of mainspace. Presumably, you created a redirect when you moved the page. I nominated the redirect for deletion. As the first editor of the redirect, you were notified. --Stefan2 (talk) 13:31, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
Hi, Stefan2 (talk). Thank you for the explanation. Have a great day! Csgir (talk)

Hello, Legacypac (talk. I have seen the previous submission. It was done by another user and that one deserves to be declined if you compare both. The other user has scribbled some lines and submitted for review whereas mine is entirely different. Kindly reconsider. Csgir (talk) 05:29, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
Or, I can edit the other user's submission with the draft I had put up. A small technical issue shouldn't deter the creation of a good page. What do you say? Legacypac (talk Csgir (talk) 05:31, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
Also, the other draft wasn't submitted for review, Legacypac (talk). Curious to know how non-submitted draft is considered first than a submitted draft. Kindly help. Csgir (talk) 05:33, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
Yes your version is much better. I almost accepted it actually. It seems to overcome the issues on the AfD too. The other draft is camped on the title in Draft but that can be bypassed. You are an experienced user. Why are you even submitting to AfC when you can publish the page directly? Legacypac (talk) 05:42, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
Actually, this was the first time I came across a page which has both (1) AfD and (2) drafts, and I was unsure what to do. I thought submitting to AfC was a better option than directly publishing the page, where it might get deleted again due to (1) and (2). I read somewhere on Wikipedia that AfC is a preferred process if previous AfD already exists. Is there anyway my draft can be accepted? The other draft is certainly not worth to be on Wikipedia. Kindly help,Legacypac (talk). Csgir (talk)
Hi, Legacypac (talk), hope you are doing good. Any solutions about this page?
