WP:TFAR

[edit]

Just to let you know that someone's nominated the 1923 FA Cup Final at WP:TFAR with a view to it running on 28th April. Your thoughts are welcome, in particular on whether there's another "white horse" photo out there that we can use, and whether 11th May (date of the 2013 FA Cup Final) would work as well as or better than 28th April, the 90th anniversary. Thanks, BencherliteTalk 10:57, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Main Page appearance: 1923 FA Cup Final

[edit]

This is a note to let the main editors of 1923 FA Cup Final know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on April 28, 2013. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or one of his delegates (Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), Gimmetoo (talk · contribs), and Bencherlite (talk · contribs)), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/April 28, 2013. If it needs tweaking, or if it needs rewording to match improvements to the article between now and its main page appearance, please edit it, following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Billie the white horse

The 1923 FA Cup Final was a football match between Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United on 28 April 1923 at the original Wembley Stadium in London. The showpiece match of English football's primary cup competition, the Football Association Challenge Cup (better known as the FA Cup), it was the first football match to be played at Wembley Stadium. The final was preceded by chaotic scenes as vast crowds surged into the stadium, far exceeding its official capacity of approximately 125,000. A crowd estimated at up to 300,000 gained entrance and the terraces overflowed, with the result that spectators found their way into the area around the pitch and even onto the playing area itself. Mounted policemen, including one on a light-coloured horse (pictured) which became the defining image of the day, had to be brought in to clear the crowds from the pitch to allow the match to take place. Although West Ham started strongly, Bolton proved the dominant team for most of the match and won 2–0. The pre-match events prompted discussion in the House of Commons and led to the introduction of a number of safety measures for future finals. The match is often referred to as the "White Horse Final" and is commemorated by the White Horse Bridge at the new Wembley Stadium. (Full article...)

Glossop North End AFC

[edit]

Thank you very much for deleting the sections from our history. This may not seem relevant to you but to any supports of GNE this is a historical record of what happened when! Especially the VASE run, fans like to read this and now a lot of the '1950 onward' has gone it appears that Glossop don't have much of a modern history. i/we would appreciate if all the info could go back on. As for logo badges, all football teams have their previous logo's on Wiki, so why can't GNE. As for the First team list, lots of 'big' teams update their first team so why can't GNE. as the season is just about to start i was going to update the team, so anyone, fan or not, could see who is currently playing for GNE. A tag has been placed on Armitage 90 F.C. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. FC United default sort

[edit]

Hi. Hope you don't mind but I removed the default sort you added to the F.C. United of Manchester page as I assume that default sort is used to help people find the pages listed in the categories. FC are never referred to as United of Manchester and so no one will ever be looking for them under 'U'. They will be looking for them under 'F' for their common name of FC United. It is quite a unique name in that the FC is never omitted from the club's name. You can check this in reliable sources. I think it should be an exception for this reason. M.I.A. discography

[edit]

Sorry if my latest edit on M.I.A. discography was found compromising on quality. I had only best intentions. However, I still think the article has numerous issues.

  • Only Live Session (iTunes Exclusive) and How Many Votes Fix Mix should be kept in EPs section, as other releases (Paper Planes, Bang, XXXO, Sunshine and Internet Connection) are merely singles featuring multiple remixes of the same title song.
  • The introduction unnecessarily elaborates on the song "O... Saya" - the same information and references are included in the song's own article, which I have recently revised.
  • US Dance and US R&B in singles section should be replaced. M.I.A. has only 1 charting song on R&B chart, and positions in the Hot Dance Club Songs column mostly represent peaks on Dance Singles Sales chart, which is misleading. I suggest these charts be replaced by general singles charts from other countries, for example Spain and Sweden.
    • (I understand the rules only allow 10 charts in the table, however, the single section already features 11...)
  • "Come Walk with Me" has not got a music video. The video in the table is actually a performance from YouTube Music Awards, what is even indicated in the caption.
    • The correct spelling of the title is "Come Walk with Me", not "Come Walk With Me".
  • References linking to www.allmusic.com should be replaced with updated URLs.

I hope together we can improve the quality of this article.1000MHz (talk) 01:01, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I added Bartley Green Illey to the 2014-15 line up as they have been accepted to the league and weren't on the list. there's no point trying to be sarcastic with your comments undoing my correct edit, then when you take it upon yourself to update it make a fuck up of division two. with the amount of edits you do on football you of all people should know where to find the info: http://full-time.thefa.com/ProcessPublicSelect.do;jsessionid=68B3B307E49DB39A14B70CB9C14512E4?psSelectedSeason=585583996&psSelectedDivision=7582798&psSelectedLeague=3244788 DJhinckley (talk) 19:05, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Northfield Town FC

[edit]

Hi Chris I don't know what edit you have done but Northfield Town Juniors FC page is separate form Northfield Town, I was going to rename the page as Northfield Town FC now have a Reserve squad competing this season and will be competing in the Midland Combination with the youth development as part of this page! I can't now that a redirect from Northfield Town Juniors FC goes to Northfield Town FC! Can you help please? Thanks Gr1226 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gr1226 (talkcontribs) 17:39, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help Chris but is there any chance I can retrieve all the previous information from Northfield Town Juniors to be able to add this to Northfield Town FC? Thanks Gr1226 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gr1226 (talkcontribs) 17:27, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article should be renamed to S.L. Benfica (London) (see S.L. Benfica (disambiguation)). The "official" website is gone and its Facebook page doesn't mention "FC". Fixed4u (talk) 20:47, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FLC review request

[edit]

Hey Chris! Could I trouble you to please help review my current FLC nom? It's a football list this time, so it should be a bit more interesting than the baseball ones I usually nom. Cheers! —Bloom6132 (talk) 18:27, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review – I've now addressed all your comments. Cheers! —Bloom6132 (talk) 12:42, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chris, please would it be possible for you to take a look at List of currencies in North America's FLC? It's been nominated a couple of times before, but hopefully third time lucky... Thanks, Matty.007 10:09, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
