[edit]Hey GNEbandit. I've got Glossop on my watch list having gone with a mate to Wembley in 2008 to see the FA Vase final. Bloody Whitby. Anyway, just a quick hello to you and a note of thanks for your good work on GNE articles which I guess goes entirely unnoticed most of the time...! Keep up the good work. Orphaned non-free media (File:GNE AFC 125th year logo.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:GNE AFC 125th year logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:22, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Your recent edits
[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Glossop
[edit]Many thanks for your comments on my talk page. With regard to the squad section, I removed two sections relating to this. One headed "first team squad" had no actual content i.e. no players were actually listed. The other, headed "Glossop North End starting XI" was over a year out of date. I have no issue with the squad section being present if it actually lists some players rather than just a lot of completely blank space and is up to date. On the logos front, Wikipedia has very strict rules on the use of non-free, copyrighted images, and I personally felt that these were violated by the inclusion of so many logos which were essentially the same with only the most minute of differences. And finally, with regard to the History section, as far as I can see I removed a grand total of four sentences covering details which were in my opinion pretty trivial and not significant aspects of the club's 120+ year history - for example I don't believe that fact that Darren Hamilton won player of the year in 2007 is significant to the history of the club. I didn't remove, as far as I can see, anything about the club reaching the Vase final. I'm also not sure how you can say that the article now makes it look like the club has no history from the 1950s onwards when that section is still significantly longer than the section on the preceding 75 years.
Hope this helps clarify things -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 19:55, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Alternative outlets
[edit]Should the draft on the Glooscap season not get accepted (and I do not think that it will be), I encourage you to look at alternative outlets. If the team, and other teams in the league are as popular as you are saying, there may be a market to create an individual Wiki for the league. There you can record the history of the seasons, without having to follow Wikipedia's rules on notability, or Football-specific guidelines. Wikipedia is a big place, and while it may seem like chaos and pandemonium, we do have a lot of rules for article inclusion, such as the general notability guidelines, and the Football notability guidelines. Believe me, there are hundreds of guidelines such as these, they have been developed through years of discussion and debate. Cheers, --kelapstick(bainuu) 12:30, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
- On a site like Wikia, you can create your own Wiki. For example, you could create one on the league that this team plays in, and you (and others) can record all the stats for all the teams there (as much, or as little as you like).--kelapstick(bainuu) 12:41, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
- Other pages exist is not a valid rational for a page to be kept. In fact quite the contrary, as I am going to nominate that page for deletion. Keeping it in draft space, and updating it as the season goes is generally not a good idea as Wikipedia is not a webhost. I would typically advise against that. --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:19, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

[edit]I have removed this from the Glossop article, as it violates the manual of style for football club articles (and WP:RECENTISM). If you want to reinstate it, please start a discussion at WT:FOOTY and get consensus. Thanks, Number 57 14:56, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 2010 FA Vase Final
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on 2010 FA Vase Final requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ― Padenton|✉ 00:06, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
2015–16 NPL
[edit]The leagues I added are more of a placeholder until the final list is ratified by the league. Didn't realise I missed out some teams. Thanks for the feedback. Del♉sion23 (talk) 17:57, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
Where do you get the attendances from?
[edit]Where do you get the attendances from for the 2015-16 FA Cup Qualifying?
I either go to the team's league websites like NWCFL.COM or NCEL.COM because they usually have the attendances on their results page, i think most league websites do that, except the Northern EBAC league...they're rubbish at it, or I painstakingly go through the individual team's websites looking at the match reports as sometimes they put the attendance on there. "its a dirty job.....but somebody has to do it" ;)
Glossop North End
[edit]Please read WP:RECENTISM. The article was heavily weighted towards the past few seasons, with plenty of stuff that is not notable in the long-term included. Having a section just for the most recent, ongoing season is highly inappropriate.
Also, the sections I edited read as if they were on the club website, using phrases like "sadly" and "unlucky". This is not appropriate for Wikipedia, so please do not readd or use language like this. Thanks, Number 57 20:31, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- Ok so i'll change the wording but as for recentism.... SADLY i wasnt around 100 years ago and therefore the info recently is more factual and has been fine on this page for the last 6 months or so, and UNLUCKLY its only the same as other non league teams like FC Utd and Hyde who have similar info regarding managers and successes on the field. I have conceeded much info which i would like to put on this page like season stats, but i conceed that our team is not YET high enough to have such info, but managerial info like i have put on will be relevent in the future looking back.
User:GNEbandit 23:27, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- Can I suggest that you please read WP:OWN. Thanks, Number 57 21:34, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
CAN YOU JUST LEAVE THIS PAGE ALONE, SINCE YOU DIDN'T GET YOUR WAY WITH THE INFO THE OTHER DAY WHEN FELIX DOWN CORRECTED YOU, YOU HAVE AN UNHEALTHY INTEREST IN THIS PAGE.... I AM AT THE POINT OF DELETING IT COMPLETELY. User:GNEbandit 21:40, 03 November 2015 (UTC)
- No, of course I'm not going to leave it alone. I have as much right as anyone to edit the article. Furthermore you are not able to delete anything you contribute to Wikipedia, as by editing it you are giving the copyright of anything you write away. I really do think you need to read WP:OWN. Number 57 21:43, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- As for the laughable comment that I have an "unhealthy interest" in the page, I have made 32 edits to it in the last year, whilst you have made several hundred. Surely your interest is far more unhealthy? Number 57 21:48, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
by the looks of your 'edits' all they are is deleting info. the odd change to a date format but basically deletions. before i add anything to this page i look on other teams pages to see if there is similar, than i add it to this page.... thereby having president set. my edits are just adding to the page.... most of which gets deleted. i understand that 'season stats' can't go on because we're "not big enough" but factual info like a 22 game unbeaten run is a stat that would look good on any team's page as its not far off the all time record. its not emotional, it is recent because it was recent, but it is fact therefore why can't it go on here? User:GNEbandit 21:54, 03 November 2015 (UTC)
- I am attempting to keep the article clean. You are writing it as if it were the club's own website or a fan page. This is an encyclopedia, and some things are simply not appropriate. A random sentence in a non-prose section of the article is one of these. Number 57 22:07, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Hello GNEbandit. Do you have access to any records on players from the mid-20th century? Tommy Bell (footballer, born 1923) apparently played for Glossop before signing for Mossley in 1946. - If what you're asking is whether it will automatically select the most recent season (e.g. if someone creates 2019–20 Northern Premier League, will it say that is the current season), then the answer is no. It is updated at of each season, usually on the last day of the season when finishing positions are confirmed. You're welcome to edit it yourself it if needs updating and no-one else has done it yet. [edit]Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:
You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic . Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact source (such as web page, or printed document) where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from 2020–21 Northern Premier League into Draft:2021-22 Northern Premier League. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 19:43, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
Morning Diannaa. I can see your point, however just for reference, I and others don't so much 'copy' one season to another.... i have a blank mask of the article which i set up each year around this time and add to it all the team names and details where relevant. I just so happens the next season is an almost copy from last season, and so yes I did copy chunks from the 2020-21 on to the 2021-22 as certain bits are identical from the last season.... but normally its just the blank mask I have on my PC which is the same...... but I do take your point on board.
