Economic history again

Hi Cambalachero and happy new year to you!! During the past few days I've made a few more additions to the article Economic history of Argentina but I can't think of what else needs to be expanded before I submit it to good articles nominations. Can you give me some more of your useful tips? Thank you!--Frère Jacques (talk) 12:29, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

August 26 OTD

Thanks for adding Juan José Castelli to Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/August 26. It's always good to get more coverage of South America. Now I noticed that Santiago de Liniers, 1st Count of Buenos Aires needs some more references, but if you could get that article fixed up a bit, we could bold both articles for that day. howcheng {chat} 20:09, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi Cambalachero - Are you still working on the GA review for this article? I went back through the review today, and made a few strikes based on your edits of the past couple of weeks. However, there are still several issues, mostly regarding sourcing, that still need to be addressed. This review is approaching a month long, which is much longer than the normal term. I would appreciate knowing if you are still interesting in working on this article with a view towards GA. Thanks, Dana boomer (talk) 22:40, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited List of national founders, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page War of independence (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Ayuda

Necesito ayuda. Intenté reportar un usuario que reportó la sección "Grupos Etnicos". Acá está mi intento de denuncia, con la consecuente explicación del asunto, en un absurdo y malísimo inglés: * Pristino (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) At 06:06, 26 January 2012,‎ user Pristino changed (diff) from the article “Argentina” after having changed the same section in the article Chile (diff). It is an imminently, an act of vandalism, as it was done immediately, he edited a never changed section because of its thoroughness, and especially knowing that I used to edit the section of the article "Chile" the same source, as opposed to their own which lacks scientific rigor (a report is based on his own, which may not be representative of a population). The source used by him (http://www.latinobarometro.org/latino/latinobarometro.jsp) is less stringent than the previous one (http://www.worldstatesmen.org) and also consider his action as a racist attack, cos the content of the data changed. It is also understood their lack of objectivity, and bias of his data. Please help me and sorry for my bad english. Saludos.

Wikimedia Stories Project

Aloha!

My name is Victor and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. We're chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade new people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who use Wikipedia have so much to share.

I find stories that drive our annual fundraising efforts. It's important to convey the incredible diversity of people who've come to rely upon Wikipedia every day.

I'd really like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia.

I will be in Buenos Aires from the 10th - 11th of March 2012.

I'm hoping you will elaborate on your story with me. Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project!

Economic history

Hi, I noticed that you added some book references to Economic history of Argentina as you expanded it, however one of them (Galasso 2003) is not referred to in the extended form (title, publisher, etc.) and therefore the links leading to it are broken. Can you add it? Thank you and keep up the good work!--eh bien mon prince (talk) 12:23, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Please can you justify your "many mistakes and inaccuracies" comment at the talk page for Argentine Civil Wars.86.4.27.128 (talk) 19:00, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Response to your comment

Even the Name of Argentina was not used until 1826 (at the breakup of the United Provinces). Also describing the United Provinces as composed of the modern states of Uruguay, Northern Argentina, Southern Bolivia etc. IS accurate. The secession of Buenos Aires in 1826 is also a pivotal event. 86.4.27.128 (talk) 20:00, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

"The secession of Buenos Aires in 1826"? It's hard to take you seriously when you say nonsenses like this. Please, follow the discussion at the link I gave you. Cambalachero (talk) 20:10, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi, there is a further comment at the link. 86.4.27.128 (talk) 12:02, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

HI, sorry I moved the discussion to the separate articles but if we do not take the items one at a time it may not be possible to get a resolution. When I read Wikipedia on South American history it gives a very vague and inconsistent account of the period 1810 to 1832. The most obvious problem for a reader is geographical and historical context. Where were these places? How did events fit in with global events? I believe that several articles would be improved by addressing these contexts. 86.4.27.128 (talk) 16:44, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

If you have no objection I will change the heading and first sentence at British invasions of the Río de la Plata. 86.4.27.128 (talk) 14:08, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Please dont just revert without any reasons. If you feel that the map that I added was incorrect then please tell me how. I can alter it. 86.4.27.128 (talk) 15:56, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Cambalachero, I have added a map to the History of Argentina page. A map really is essential for people who do not know the region to understand what is happening. You seem to be happy with the "toned down" changes on the British Invasions pages and the small of the United Provinces (Argentina) back in the early 19th century. If you have any problems with these maps please tell me what to change, but outsiders really do need some maps to know what is going on. 86.4.27.128 (talk) 15:54, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi again, it would be great to sort out this problem of the location of the United Provinces of Rio de la Plata, I have changed the map to respond to your comments. I will tidy it up once we come to an agreement about the borders. 86.4.27.128 (talk) 12:19, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Cambalachero, I recommend that you take Lecen's actions to the Wikiquette board before things truly get out of hand. Nestor Kirchner is now a GA. It's an important article, and the review was a long haul, so well done! It's thirsty work, so here's a beer. Vanamonde (talk) 17:27, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

On a slightly different note; you did stellar work with the article, and the GA status is now well deserved. The time we took to hammer out the prose, though, suggests to me that English is possibly not your primary language. Therefore, and I mean this in an entirely constructive way, it may be worth your while sending your articles to the WP:GOCE. They can help with prose typically to a greater extend than a reviewer can (because they don't have to worry about seeming involved in the article) and in any case, extra eyes on prose can never hurt. This might increase the wait a little bit, but it will make both your work and that of the reviewer much easier. Best regards, Vanamonde (talk) 17:31, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

WARNING: do not revert a legitimate talk page edit, without very clear justification

Hello, please do NOT revert a perfectly valid talk page edit as you did here. In doing so, you are trying to enforce your seriously BIASED point of view, in that not only are you trying to include the Falkland Islands into WikiProject:Argentina, when you know that the Falkland Islands are NOT part of Argentina; you furthermore tried to hide the fact that the Falkland Islands were part of the WikiProject Argentina by HIDING it within the banner shell template.

Should you continue to VANDALISE and try to enforce your blatantly biased point of view, I will report you to the Administrators Noticeboard. 82.132.241.153 (talk) 17:00, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

A friendly advise: Don't shoot yourself in the foot. Please try to calm down, do something else and come back in a couple of hours, and analize things with a cooler head before you fill a report that may eventually turn against you. Cambalachero (talk) 18:45, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

I am sad about the DYK nom. What I do in such a case: find some red link connected, write that, and mention her in the DYK, - the mentioned article often gets just many clicks as the bold subject. (I usually write about a singer performing a certain work, when I can't expand the work enough to qualify.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:18, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
It's not a big deal. I worked in the article to complete a series of good articles about the contemporary presidents of Argentina (Macri, the current one, is the only one that is not a GA yet). That's my actual goal, not the main page, that's just an accessory thing in the way to that. --Cambalachero (talk) 02:29, 10 July 2017 (UTC)

In November The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There will be over $4000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. If this would appeal to you and you think you'd be interested in contributing new articles on women during this month for your region or wherever please sign up in the participants section. The articles done may also count towards the ongoing challenge. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate and raise money to buy books about women for others to use, this is also fine. Help would also be appreciated in drawing up the lists of missing articles. If you think of any missing articles please add them to the sub lists by continent at Missing articles. Thankyou, and if taking part, good luck!♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:47, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

reverting the wrong item

weak? consistency is always an issue in situations like this nah - there has been usage of the piracy project/ tag related to asterix - just to revert one item - check the rest... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Pirate_comics - thats the villain... if you wish to eradicate the scourge if you see it as such cheers JarrahTree 03:15, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited X-Men Red, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Nightcrawler (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Move review for Joker (character)

An editor has asked for a Move review of Joker (character). Because you closed the move discussion for this page, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the move review. -- Netoholic @ 19:29, 27 April 2018 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Wikipedia:Naming conventions (comics). Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.Netoholic @ 18:22, 28 April 2018 (UTC)

Re: Dirty War in Argentina

I have noticed that several well-sourced paragraphs have been removed when going back in time and looking at the Wikipedia page to do with the Dirty War in Argentina as it appeared in early 2017. There appears to be an attempt to whitewash or present a more sanitized version of events, blaming conservative and Right-Wing Argentines and demonizing the military, while concealing the crimes of the Left-Wing Guerrilla Armies of the ERP and Montoneros. Your observations on this matter are most welcome.(Temruog (talk) 00:48, 24 July 2018 (UTC))

I am not allowed to edit or discuss that specific article. You'll have to work that on your own. Sorry for the inconvenience. Cambalachero (talk) 12:10, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for replying. I hope you can get a family member or friend maybe contribute in the future. I know Spanish Wikipedia needs a lot of improvement. Are you allowed to contribute in Spanish Wikipedia with maybe a new username?--Temruog (talk) 23:49, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

Oh, I can edit in Spanish Wikipedia, I just don't want to. That project is a joke, it does not have real policies, and refuses to have them (I tried to change that in the past, to no avail, and saw other attempts that also failed). For example, verifiability. Yes, articles must be verified in reliable sources, but if there are no standards on what is and what isn't a reliable source, then it's just meaningless jargon. I can use Chariots of the Gods? as a reference, say "Erich von Däniken is a reliable source, because I say so", and get away with it. Or neutrality, any weird claim or conspiracy theory that can be verified has to be treated as a noteworthy point of view (or even be treated as truth in wikipedia's voice); for example the article about the death of Hugo Chávez cites uncritically Maduro's claim that foreign countries were involved in Chávez' cancer (the full conspiracy theory is that he was attacked with a "cancer gun", a complete nonsense that does not endure the most minimal scientific check). Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:18, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
