Joozoon
Dear Cabayi, thank you for leaving a message on my (zoozoon) talk page, and sorry for the late reply! I do have a question for you: I have written an addendum to be added to the "Shovel" article on Wikipedia. I think you can access that addendum under my sandbox. I intend to insert two pictures in that addendum. The pictures are of me using a shovel, but the pictures have been modified to the point that I look like a "generic" human using a shover! So, my question is, is it okay to include those pictures, and if yes, how would I go about uploading the pictures into my addendum? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joozoon (talk • contribs) 00:14, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

RossButsy
Dear @Cabayi,
I thank you for trying to give the user RossBusty a second chance by allowing them to change their name (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:ChurCuz&diff=prev&oldid=1194710090). However, it appears that the behaviour for which they were punished has by no means stopped; indeed, this can be determined by looking at their edits and their talk page – and specifically their history on this page (as said user often removes uncomplimentary questions or observations from their page). Is there anything that could be done, if anything should be done?
Thank you,
– Scientelensia (talk) 15:59, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- Scientelensia, blocks are meant to be preventative, not punitive. Other than their discussion with Doug Weller earlier today I see no recent warnings given to the user, certainly not the full set of escalating warnings that should mark the path to a block. The only link you provide is that where I renamed the user. If you wish to report ChurCuz you can do so at WP:AIV but you will need to provide evidence of their alleged misdeeds and evidence that they have been sufficiently warned.
- A user's talk page is theirs to manage within some very loose parameters. I see no sign that WP:OWNTALK has been misused. Cabayi (talk) 17:27, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
- I will consider this. Thanks for your help :)
- P.S. I’m not suggesting that it has been misused, but that the picture portrayed by the user is somewhat misleading. Scientelensia (talk) 18:14, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Appeal for Unblocking of User:Friday musa
Hi @Cabayi. Hope this message finds you well. I write to you with respect to the Indefinite blockage set to User:Friday musa's account on the English Wikipedia. I have been following the discussion and I have seen that it is taking quite long to resolve. I am appealing not just on his behalf but on the behalf of the Tyap Wikimedians User Group to help unblock his account as this posseses a big setback to our operations as an affiliate. Quick help request
Hi @Cabayi - I hope you don't mind my contacting you; I'm doing so becaause you come up on the 'recently active admins' list. There's an article Pumi dog that is blanked out because of an alleged copyvio, which concerns a single sentence where the wording followed that of the American Kennel Club breed standard. Unfortunately the reporting editor has placed the flag at the top of the article, rather than in the relevant section, thus removing the entire article from view. I've followed procedure and posted an amended version of the article, which deals with the matter, at Talk:Pumi dog/Temp, and I hope it's just a question of an admin copying this back to the main page and removing the flag? But this has been pending now for five days, and with the world's biggest dog show starting today, this is a period when dog breed pages always get more views. Could you or one of your colleagues kindly drop by here and take a look, please? Thanks in anticipation.... MapReader (talk) 09:08, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi Cabayi. Sorry for bothering you, I was just wondering if ArbCom received the email I sent two days ago and it didn't go into the spam folder? Bests. HistoryofIran (talk) 18:13, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

- I haven't handled a usurpation so I'm hesitant to offer you an opinion. In general folks only come to renaming once or twice in their wiki-careers so there's limited value in forcing them to do it "right". On the other hand I'm reluctant to appear as a "deus ex machina" and rename a user without a visible trail. Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 08:53, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

Username change and page moves
Hello, Cabayi,
You did some username changes and page moves for Svenskbygderna earlier today but somehow we ended up with User:Svenskbygderna which is indicated on my Quarry query as a nonexistent editor page. Was this page supposed to be moved as well? It's very confusing as this editor has changed their username several times and some of their user pages redirect to user pages for inactive accounts they previously used. I'm not sure where this one is supposed to go. Thanks for any help you can provide straightening this one out. Liz Read! Talk! 21:15, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

- It's a mess because Petermgrund has gone back to a username they used previously. Page moves couldn't happen because pages already existed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- Renaming back from Petermgrund to Svenskbygderna may result in userpages on other projects being incorrectly moved. I don't see a clean fix that I can do as a global renamer. I think Peter needs to visit the user pages of each of their accounts, ensure that they point to the correct end point, and have local admins fix any problems. - Cabayi (talk) 15:16, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello all,
- Thank you for the message. Yes, I acknowledge that I made a mess of things going back and forth with username changes (and losing a password). I think the best thing to do is what you suggested; revisit all of the user pages for my previous usernames and make sure they point to Petermgrund.
- One quick question. Can you clarify what issues may require a local admin to fix? I want to avoid causing you/me/others a headache. Thanks for your patience... Petermgrund (talk) 16:38, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- Petermgrund I'm starting to give myself a nosebleed thinking of the possibilities. So long as the userpages let folks know they're all you, all should be well. Cabayi (talk) 17:28, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
SPI request
Hi Cabayi, sorry for bugging you. After seeing your comment at Talk:Goya Menor, I'm hoping you could please take a look at this SPI [1] I opened a few days ago. The creator of that promotional article has pinged me twice on wiki and their suspected sock contacted me offwiki, all aggressively asking for NPP reviews. Nick Jordan (artist) edit
Hello, I removed the COI template after checking content for neutrality etc., which you've re-added. Please could you recheck and inform of any issues with content on talk page? Or steps needed to remove the template. Many thanks for any help or advice. 194.74.185.34 (talk) 11:32, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- I believe you are Nick Jordan who has a history of editing the article about himself. I believe, and the COI policy states, you lack the objectivity to judge the article. There is no problem under policy with you starting a discussion on the article's talk page, but your continued interference and self-promotion is contrary to Wikipedia's neutrality policy. Cabayi (talk) 13:53, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for reply Cabayi. I'm not the subject of article, but was trying to help fix any flagged issues on their behalf. User @Jorbert30 has decalared COI on their userpage, and I understand their previous edits were an attempt to update dead links on citation references and reduce the content of article, but were rejected as copyright infringement/vandalism. Hence they tried repeatedly to fix the issue and were apparently blocked for a short period. Should either Jorbert30 or myself start subject on article's talk page and request clean up to resolve any issue? I believe the article meets neutrality guidelines, and all the citations appear legit. Many thanks for your time and any help. 194.74.185.34 (talk) 14:40, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) I agree with Cabayi that the article has issues with neutrality, and the sourcing is dodgy. Example:
Jordan's work has been shown widely at international galleries, museums and film festivals.
The word 'widely' a relative, subjective term, which is effectively WP:PUFFERY - it should be omitted. The source supporting that assertion is a piece written by the subject about himself on the website of an art project he's a member of. That is a primary, self-published source, and is entirely inappropriate for an assertion of that nature. If the rest of the article is anything like that sentence, it needs substantial pruning, and the tag is more than warranted. Girth Summit (blether) 14:51, 10 June 2024 (UTC)- Thanks for the feedback Girth Summit. If you're able to prune and edit anything that constitutes puffery or self-published source that would be much appreciated. Or should I put request on talk page. I'll have to look up code on how to do that, as this is all a new area to me! Any help by you or other editors appreciated. 194.74.185.34 (talk) 15:02, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

Localization of "Talking to users"
Regarding User:Cabayi#Talking to users. I recommend using the parser function {{int:}} to make sure that these checkboxes stay up to date with their wording and to make them localizable when a translation is available:
- {{myprefs|3|check={{int:tog-forceeditsummary}}}}
- Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary)
- {{myprefs|9|check={{int:gadget-ProveIt}}}}
- WP:ReFill
- Preferences → Gadgets → (S) ProveIt is a tool that adds a graphical user interface to find, edit, add and cite references (demo)
- {{myprefs|9|check={{int:gadget-Twinkle}}}}
- Preferences → Gadgets → Twinkle: add menu buttons to automate common tasks, including: reporting vandalism, warning vandals, requesting deletion or protection, welcoming users, and tagging articles (preferences)
The parser function uses pages in the MediaWiki namespace, such us MediaWiki:tog-forceeditsummary and MediaWiki:gadget-Twinkle.
This is a follow-up to recent improvements to the {{Myprefs}} template. To check localization:

Revision deletion
Hi, thank you for reviewing my request at Arbitration Commiteee. I ask you to reconsider you decision, even if it’s just removing the reasoning (if you can do that). It wasn't what I did, it's about what's in the reasoning with personal details which is why I requested. I don't want to have to quit Wikipedia over something so trivial, nor do I want another clean start, all I ask is if you are able to remove the reasoning on the block log. And in your reason you said "the new account must avoid editing patterns or behaviors that would allow other users to recognize and identify the account" but I was given this account back after it was blocked as a clean start by admins instead of my first original account, I was never told to make a new account fresh. Many thanks. Azarctic (talk) 20:15, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Some help with potentially disruptive anonymous edits
Hello there! I'm hoping you can help deal with an anonymous contributor. Some context can be found here, but the TLDR is that an anon contributor added Islamism to the ideology section of a political party's infobox but used a problematic source; a news article quoting a former member who left to found a competing party. If you take a look at the edit history of Malaysian United Indigenous Party you'll see that while I provided a reason as to why it shouldn't be included in the infobox, they kept adding it back and behaved aggressively. I brought this matter to user Daniel Case, but they stopped responding to me for whatever reason, so I'm hoping that you could take some time to check this out instead. Thanks! - The passive aggressiveness seems unwarranted and is a bit hurtful, but okay. I'll keep in mind that wikilinnks are more convenient, and I though "range" simply meant the the list of IP addresses that were being used, which is what I compiled for them. So will you be helping me with this or would you prefer I go back to Daniel? Thanks, anyway. Sisuvia (talk) 10:50, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- I'd recommend making reports on the relevant noticeboards, WP:AIV in this case. It'll then be handled by an available admin and you're not left waiting on one specific admin. For this report, the IP range has not touched those articles in over four weeks so it's unlikely any meaningful action could be taken now. Cabayi (talk) 11:45, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

User:Line which 1200
Hi Cabyi. Since I often work on file related stuff with Fastily and have their user talk page on my watchlist, I noticed what was going on at User talk:Line which 1200. Line which 1200's response to your unblock request decline seems to have moved into NLT territory in addition to more BLP violations. It might seem a little quick, but perhaps taking away their tpa should be considered because I don't see any indication that Line which 1200 is going to stop trying to right whatever great wrong they perceive to have been inflicted upon them and will likely continue their BLPCOI against the other person they've been referring to on their user page and user talk page. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:34, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Question from user
Dear Cabayi, you admonished me for adding material to the Ted Williams page without a source. If you look at the editing history, you will see, first, that I have repeatedly added a reference to the Ben Bradlee Jr. biography of Ted Williams, and that another user has repeatedly removed it. Second, you will see that I have removed the unencyclopedic statements of opinion by this other user. Here is what he has posted, in various forms, and that I have removed: Referring to Williams's atheism, as documented by his biographers, "Though this was mostly fabricated by writers after he died. There are no credible sources to prove this. This was perpetuated by two of his children to convince the courts to allow them to freeze their father." This other user may have a strong belief that something was "fabricated," but he offers no source for this. This other user may have a strong belief that something was "perpetuated," or why that was done, but he offers no source for this. I suspect that you have barred me from editing because I am not a registered user, not because you have looked at the editing trail in this case. Why allow opinion to be posted? Why punish a user who removes opinion? Even now, that user has posted that Ted Williams's belief, or non belief, has been "disproven." I hope we all agree that this is not something that can be "disproven." That's the opinion of the user, not a fact, not encyclopedic. That user repeatedly removes references, and sources, pointing to biographers describing Ted Williams as an atheist. What should we do about that? How does blocking me cure that?24.184.21.30 (talk) 16:04, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

It would be better if the two of you did that on the article's talk page rather than here. Other folks who have an interest in the article may want to chip in. Cabayi (talk) 16:36, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind reply. I have added a section to the Ted Williams talk page, seeking consensus on religion and Ted Williams.24.184.21.30 (talk) 10:32, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
Article Reviewed
Hello, thank you for your attention to the Bernadette Thompson article! I would like to clarify that the article has already been reviewed and assigned a C-class rating, which indicates that it is suitable for mainspace. Some of the messages regarding citations for verification and neutrality were worked on prior to this review. Given that it meets notability and verification standards, and that there is sufficient consensus supporting its placement in the mainspace, I will be reverting the article back to its original location.
I appreciate your efforts to maintain quality, and any further improvements can still be made directly within the mainspace. Thank you for your understanding! Fashionista345 (talk) 16:30, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
Contributions
Hi there @Cabayi and thank you for help to rename my username. And I have a concern regarding my contributions, when I decline a draft submission I didn't know that my username was changed already so the edits were log at the IP address I use which are these: [3], [4], [5]. Is there a way to transfer it to my contributions? 𝙹𝚒𝚢𝚊𝚗 [𝚃𝙰𝙻𝙺] 09:07, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- Windborne Rider, sorry, there is no mechanism to reassign the edits made by one account (or an IP) to another user. Cabayi (talk) 09:19, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Cabayi Oh alright. Thank you again for renaming my username. Cheers, 𝙹𝚒𝚢𝚊𝚗 [𝚃𝙰𝙻𝙺] 09:25, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
Hello!
Hi @Cabayi and thank you for help to rename my username. Actually, I am facing some problem in my AFC. There is one error to show me (AFCH error: user not listed AFCH could not be loaded because "Jannatulbaqi" is not listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Participants. You can request access to the AfC helper script there. If you wish to disable the helper script, click here. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch!) Please help me! Invitation to participate in a research
Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,
BGerdemann (WMF) (talk) 19:22, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the invitation but I've done enough online surveys only to get to the final question which requires me to divulge personal information or have my responses discarded. I now opt-out before question #1, thanks. Cabayi (talk) 14:19, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
COIN
Hello Cabayi, I wondered if you might take a look at the following COIN thread [6] and let me know what action might be taken. Any input gratefully received, Axad12 (talk) 10:15, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
- Axad12, it looks like this has been brought to a conclusion. Cabayi (talk) 13:21, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
Censorship on Whigfield
Hello,
You have been contacted requesting help to remove content from Whigfield. The Page has been "extended protected" by a user, in order to not have the content restored. The information that has been removed is relevant and is included in other Wikipedia articles and other language versions of the Page. Previously, COI has been reported, and many removals of information have happened. Therefore, I think that this particular protection is ill-intentioned and I believe that the erased content should be restored before protecting the Page, in order to include the relevant information, improve the article and avoid censorship motivated by COI.
Thank you, Fixfxx (talk) 23:35, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
- I've told Fixfxx to stop asking admins to make edits for them. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 23:38, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
